Beautiful view of the lake which is accompanied by tall trees. Local coffee and beer shops at beginning, center and end of shoreline walk.
Amazing lac & city You can walk / run around the lac. The view point on the mountains is just magic 🗻
Very nice lake! You can walk around or get in one of the boats that do tours in the lake and enjoy the calm atmosphere. It is quite big and the scenery with all the trees and the birds and swans is lovely. There are also many restaurants around the lake so that anyone can enjoy the view while having a coffee or a meal. I would visit it again.
A very beautiful place to visit.Lake Pamvotida is located in the city of Ioannina, Epirus, Greece. Around of the lake there is the castle of Ioannina which has 3.200 inhabitants inside and there are many cafe bars, restaurants and souvenir shops which have sight of the lake. You can take the ferry for a fast cruise to the island of Ioannina for a visit. It has Byzantine churches and the museum of Ali Pasa who was governor of the city during the Ottoman period. It has also restaurants and souvenir shops there. The ticket for this cruise costs 2€ per route. Worth a visit.
The beautiful lake of the Ioannina city, with many good food and drink options, around the lake. Also boat tours are available at the small and historical island of the lake (It is an inhabitable one, with museum, restaurants and cafe). Pictureque scenery, absolutely worth visiting.
We participated in the Lake Run for 30km with two friends! It was an unforgettable experience, and I wish to go again! Don't miss it
This is a really big lake! At night, it looks like there are islands in the middle, there are lots of camping spots around this lake. When you wake up in the morning, you will be able to see that those "islands" are tall grass. There are also lots of animals and big birds around this lake.
Definitely (one of) the highlights of Ioannina! Such a nice walk.

Wonderful castle! There is no entrance fee. Many houses still love in the castle. The wall of fortress remain and preserved well! I was so impressive how castle reserved well! Icon of Ioannina
Very pretty, lots to see. Beware that all the museums inside are closed on a Tuesday. The restaurants and Tavernas are open though. Old Town was pretty and the lakeside walk is very nice as well.
If you love history, spend time wandering this ancient Byzantine fortress. It's free to go inside and wander, but the museums cost money. Part of the fortress includes lived-in houses and shops! There's free parking near the lake.
Amazing history, majestic historic buildings repurposed into museums. Breathtaking views of the lake and city. Heads up: they're closed on Tuesdays. However, if you end up there on a Tuesday like me, it's still worth the stroll :)
The place is nice but the view of the Ioannina lake is spectacular ! You should let yourself drift around the alleys and see the architecture of the buildings inside the castle. There are museums, mosques and churches that are interesting for visitors to see. But the one place that was astonishing was the «Silversmithing Museum» (tip: watch all the 5’ documentaries at the screens inside the museum that demonstrate the unique silversmithing techniques of the area of Epirus)
Once you figure out where the "action" is there is a lot to see, whether you want to pay for entrance to specific things or not. The overall "castle" has many layers of history visible inside the bigger exterior walls.
Definitely worth a stroll in the afternoon. Interesting old buildings. Free entrance! There's also a nice restaurant.
Used to visit this place when I was a small child with my grandparents, and my parents a lot every time we visited Greece and Ioannina. It's a kinda nostalgic but also very special place to me.

Older than Delphi and considerably near it in terms of significance and influence, this is a site of great historical importance. Moreover, it is a spectacular place to visit. The ancient theater is among the best preserved in Greece and is under restoration, offering a most impressive image of ancient Greek constructs. The ancient masonry is of magnificent quality. Furthermore, the other remaining structures are also interesting and well explained in the signs. The surrounding scenery is also beauteous. Walking along is easy, and the heat here is usually more bearable.
Fantastic! A remarkable historic location. A wonderful ancient amphitheater surrounded by temples. Gorgeous location. We were lucky with sunshine and cool temps. We were the only ones there when we were here! I highly recommend reading about this ancient location that dates back to 750 BC and one of the most significant sites from the Hellenistic period. Easy parking. Toilets.
We stumbled across Dodoni rather than planned our visit; but what a wonderful site. One of the great Oracles of Ancient Greece; this has been a place of quiet worship for millennia. The oak trees, while not the originals are still there to spend a little time underneath and contemplate the world.
A big significant site in a beautiful setting, although the ruins are most impressive if you read the backstory. Seeing the oak tree in the actual place where the original sacred oak tree that through leaves rustling and bird songs revealed prophecies. I enjoyed the irony of lightning shelters in the home of Zeus. Not sure if they are thunderbolt resistant.
Awe-inspiring grandeur, splendid amphitheatre and remnants of the ancient Mysteries, once Oracle of Gaia / Dione, chthonic (earth) goddess, until it became oracle of Zeus, signalling changes of consciousness. The site is under long-term repair, has modern entry (15€), exclusive shop (why no site-specific postcards?) and loos. In Parga we ere told bus and coach trips no longer operate due to "decrease in interest" of late. What a shame. No cafe, unfortunately, something sadly lacking. A wonderful site on the floor of the valley between mountains, in September a riot of golden-yellow autumn croci. Worth the pilgrimage: Zeus' oak site even has a young holm oak to commemorate it.
The oldest oracular site in Greece, with well-preserved temples dedicated to Zeus Naios, Dione, Aphrodite, Themis, and Herakles. The signs are very clearly labelled and it’s an easy walk around the site on a smooth walkway, with some opportunities to walk in the grass. Ancient priests called the Selloi slept on the ground and walked barefoot to stay close to the Earth, while they listened to the sounds of the rustling leaves and the cooing of doves to glean their prophecies. Later, 3 women were oracles at the site. Known as the Peleiades, or doves, they listened to the clanking sounds of bronze cauldrons hung in the oak tree of Zeus to hear their oracular messages. We had 3 professional psychics in our group and this was a very important place for us to visit to connect with this ancient lineage! Plus, the mountain is absolutely gorgeous, towering above everything.
Great site with very easy access from the E90, Egnatia Odos motorway: about 3km from the junction. Wonderful, scenic location with lots of information boards around the site. Good facilities on site, including drinking water fountains around the site. No cafe; however there's an excellent restaurant/hotel virtually next to the carpark. It's run by a rather hippy guy, an obvious nature lover who grows his own vegetables, and who prepared us the most delicious omelette using the freshest ingredients.
If you are into historical sites this one is not to be missed. The site is large and contains much more than just the amphitheater.

Definitely worth the visit. There is a fee entrance of 4€. Great historical facts, details and items are gathered all together in this museum. The history of Ali Pasa gives you the chills. There are plenty of guides to hive you a tour or you can have the tour by yourself. The surroundings of the museum are also amazing. So much natural beauty and fresh air in the area. You should definitely pay a visit.
A rare view of Ioannina's history and a refreshing spot altogether. Maybe you 'll even get lucky enough to meet its' living soul Mr Rapakousis and witness how history should really be taught.
An incredible collection of Greek history and the Greek revolution period. The museum is friendly and sophisticated. Well done !!!! A national treasure.
The Ali Pasha Revolutionary Period Museum is a fascinating place that brings history to life. Housed in a beautiful lakeside monastery, it offers a unique insight into the turbulent era of Ali Pasha and the revolutionary movements in Epirus. The collection is very well curated, with artifacts, documents, and personal items that tell powerful stories. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, making the visit even more enriching. The setting itself is stunning, with wonderful views over Lake Pamvotis. A must-visit for anyone interested in Greek history and culture.
Small, but incredibly packed with exhibits. The number of exhibits is astounding, along with the audio guide, music, and atmosphere, and the various scenes recreated—bravo! An incredible experience, I want to return again and again!
Super interesting museum on a small island in the middle of Ioannina. My only issue was that the recording playing throughout the rooms (recounting Ali Pasha's story) was solely in Greek. It would be amazing if they translated it for tourists to get a fuller picture of the history behind it all. Other than that, I highly recommend this place
Hidden gem!!! The Ali Pasha Museum offers an enchanting and educational experience. What truly sets this museum apart is the palpable passion of the owner. His dedication to preserving and sharing these historical treasures is evident in every detail. He personally guided us through a fascinating narrative of Ali Pasha’s life and the historical contexts of the exhibits. His enthusiasm made the visit not just informative, but deeply engaging. The clothing exhibits are particularly striking, showcasing intricate designs and craftsmanship that speak volumes about the fashion and social customs of the time. This museum is a must-do for anyone visiting the area!
Very informative. Very helpful Aussie/Greek lady on the entrance. Content is well presented with some gruesome torture instruments and the final hours of Ali's demise. Toilet is nearby, just ask for the code

A Sparkling Journey Through Ioannina’s Crafting Legacy The Silversmithing Museum is a true gem in the heart of Its Kale fortress, celebrating the rich tradition that made Ioannina famous across the Balkans. Housed in a beautifully restored historical building, the museum combines modern design with deep cultural roots, creating an experience that is both educational and inspiring. Whether you're a fan of art, history, or just curious about local traditions, this museum is an absolute must-see in Ioannina.
Totally worth the visit and the price. Very interesting and well made museum!
A museum with lots of interesting information on the traditional art of silversmithing. On the ground floor there are videos explaining the process with which these works of art are made and you can see the various tools used. On the first floor you san see the wonderful results of that process: beautiful silver jewelry, weapons, church tools and much more!
great museum! great space collection and service!
A beautifully laid out museum of the techniques used to refine and work silver with a focus on the regional creations. Set over two levels in an historical part of the castle complex it is a great place. It can be difficult to see displays as there really is only room for single file progress around the displays. Really informative and some beautiful works in the second floor.
Beautiful little museum that you must see if you are ever in Ioannina, very informative om the history of the art here, also well lit and well laid out. The silverware gets more impressive as you go further inside.
Very interesting. Part of the Ioannina Castle. Lots of information. Free to enter the castle grounds. Small entry fee on the museum.

One of the most beautiful landscapes in Greece! Great combination of mountains, rivers, spectacular Vikos gorge, forests, small lakes at high altitudes and villages with stone built houses! Excellent choice for trail/hiking activities!
This is an amazing natural park with beautifull and breathtaking views. Lot of friendly and lovely people. Nice place to eat or to drink. Try to have a frappe on a terrasse
Fantastic nature, great for trecking. As usual, go out in the morning to avoid the midday heat. Plenty of natural springs along some of the hikes, with potable water
Beautiful park, the river's water are clear (yet cold), a lot of magical corners with turquoise to blue water, wild trees and flowers.
One of Europe's precious natural wonders. Leave your worries with your car and release yourself into this pure example of creation.
A great view. Tranquility, beauty, wildeness all mixed in an birth-taking adventure.
