Fantabulous lake few kilometers away from Nova Levante, nestled among the forests and peaks of the Catenaccio and Latemar mountains, lies this small alpine lake. Its emerald-green waters and romantic atmosphere make it the perfect destination for a beautiful walk.
A must-see in the Dolomites, it is one of the most popular postcard views due to its stunning beauty ... and Unesco'list as it is usually very crowded !
The lake is fed by underground springs that carry water from the peaks of the Latemar massif, which is why the water level fluctuates with the seasons. Located at an altitude of 1,534 meters, this small alpine lake's character is dictated by the seasons.
During the spring thaw, the lake reaches its highest level with its maximum depth is then around 17 meters. During this warmer season, the water flows into a charming little stream that runs along the western edge of the lake. In winter, Lake Carezza freezes over, and its beautiful colors remain trapped in the ice until spring returns.
Lake Carezza is particularly renowned for its striking colors, which have earned it the most beautiful of nicknames : the Rainbow Lake. Surrounded by a dense forest of spruce and other species, the crystal-clear waters reflect, like a mirror, the brilliant blue of the sky, the clouds that drift across it, the emerald of the trees, and also the impressive mountain ranges that watch over the lake.
