Very impressive, great tour really worth going.
Museum Monday meant that it was closed when I visited, but even just walking around outside with its stunning architecture and details and affordable views of the small town in the valley below was worth dropping by. The interior - from peeking thru the windows and from photos I've seen mean I'll definitely go back to see it another time.
Pretty castle. We we're looking for a place to stop on our way to Munich to let our son get out and stretch. You can't get inside without a tour, which is only at certain times. We just walked around (actually went behind the castle and got to the dead end and had to turn around). Didn't get inside. There is free parking and a lake next to the parking (across the road). Tour is 7 Euro for foreigners.
It was a good idea to stop there from the moment we stepped in the courtyard. What had surprised me was that everything was deserted like and no soul to be seen. The restaurant was closed, the souvenir shop also. The surrounding buildings are not in shape, but the monastery will take your breath away. I say for a few tens of minutes and just grasped the pleasent wind and playful clouds at the monastery entrance. We took a peak through the keyhole inside and saw a lady that was cleaning the place. All doors were closed and we could not enter. A gentleman was seen, but he was too busy using the phone to talk to us. He just said know to my question if we can enter the edifice. Too bad. I feel sorry for his attitude. Overall, the feeling and the experience is very nice, but it is regrettable that one of the biggest monasteries in Czech Republic is just deserted like this. I mean, I would have definitely have spent some of my hard reserved cash for something I the shop and for certain in the restaurant. I recommend!
Please bear in mind the monastery is closed from 1.11. - 31.3. This means you cannot visit the monastery inside but, you can walk around the monastery area (for free). The parking lot is right in front of the monastery - for free.
Amazing monastry, architecture and arts, unfortunately no English or German tours
One of the biggest monasteries in the Czech Republic. Very beautiful architecture and great views inside and out. They did not offer an English tour during my visit but did give me a book with everything written in English. Tour seemed quite boring but the views were amazing. They also have a restaraunt on location.
Just looked from outside. Impressive buildings in baroque gothic stylemix. Parking is tiny and crossing the street by feet is dangerous. The czech drivers out here don't give a s h i t.

(Translated by Google) If you plan to visit the monastery in Kladruby, be sure to consider visiting the museum of the Czechoslovak fortifications as part of your trip, which is located only about 200 m from the monastery on the road to Kostelec. Thanks to the enthusiasm and enormous efforts of lovers of military history, it was possible to authentically restore the fortification to the condition in which it was abandoned in 1938. The interior is also equipped with original wooden beams, equipment including air conditioning, a shooting bench, a periscope and, of course, weapons such as a heavy machine gun vz. 37, or light machine gun vz. 26. The authenticity of the time is enhanced by lighting with kerosene lamps. An integral part of the tour is the dedicated and very interesting interpretation of the guide, which even children will listen to with interest.

We recommend and greatly appreciate the opportunity to use your time meaningfully while waiting for a tour of the nearby monastery.
(Translated by Google) Even though I'm not a big fan of history personally and I thought a lot about visiting the museum, I was very pleasantly surprised in the end. Everyone will find their own thing there. With the guide, you could see that he does it with love and with great enthusiasm. A beautiful, and above all, fully equipped cottage that you won't find anywhere else in the Czech Republic. A very interesting discovery! (Original) I když osobně nejsem velkou fanynkou historie a návštěvu muzea jsem hodně rozmýšlela, velmi mě nakonec příjemně překvapila. Každý si tam totiž najde to své. U pana průvodce šlo vidět, že to dělá s láskou a velice zapáleně. Krásně, a hlavně plně vybavený řopík, který jinde v Čr nenajdete. Moc zajímavý objev!
(Translated by Google) These are a number of fully restored bunkers, by a group of volunteers who have been doing this for 25 years. You could already tell from the guide's stories (full of passion and energy), there was no entrance fee, only a small or large contribution was welcome. But that bunker had been restored to its original state. I can tell you a lot about it, but you have to experience it yourself, it's definitely worth it.

In the summer on weekends you can visit the inside of the bunker. It's unbelievable what facility and how many machine guns you can see here. A must for anyone interested in the area.
