Garden
Nature & Parks
Park known for its circa-1904 rose garden, which also houses greenhouses, tennis courts & a pond.

We love this Rose garden. My mother was so happy to be here. She loves the flower so much and put a lot of effort into gardening and to her this place was a dream place to be. The kids enjoyed it as well. We had a relaxing time. The best time to visit is mid June I would say. You will get a splendid family pics here.
This over 100 acre park with its stunning rose garden is a wonderful way to spend the day. Entrance is free and it is opened 365 days! We visited on a Sunday afternoon in early autumn 2025 and were pleased to see some roses still in bloom. There are over 800 varieties of old and new roses. The best time to see them in full bloom is mid June to early July. The rustic gazebo is stunning and makes for great photo opportunities. The are paved, level walking and biking trails all around and trees throughout are identified. There is plenty of green space to relax and enjoy the peacefulness. The Asylum Street entrance brings you to the to the rose garden, pond, bridges, perennial garden and greenhouses. Beautifully clean and well maintained park for all to enjoy.
Beautiful space and well maintained gardens. Would recommend getting a couple of jersey mikes subs and coming here for a picnic. Ample free parking and lots of trails to explore. Great for birding as well. Always lots of people doing photo shoots which is nice.
A beautiful park, and the several gardens are really something to behold. The roses were mostly gone when we went, can't imagine how stunning they are in bloom. Came here specifically to give David the tour guide five stars - so warm and friendly, and clearly has a real enthusiasm for sharing interesting history about the park. Definitely take the tour if you go.
Beautiful park in West Hartford near the border of Hartford. Elizabeth park has a large rose garden in addition to many other varieties of flowers. Lots of greenery as well as a small pond to stroll by. The park is clean and well manicured with many plant varieties. There are open spaces for playing sports and the atmosphere is relaxed. At the center there is a gift shop as well as several buildings with ball rooms which can be rented for events.
Went not thinking thered be much to see, but the roses are still going & beautiful, but my gosh... the mums they have... I may have a new 'favorite flower!' They have every possible color combo & different styles!! They really are worth going to see!!
The most beatiful garden I have ever visited. I had some quality time with my family there. The park and the roses were amazing. I still have the smell in my nose.
What an amazing job of stewardship the Elizabeth Park Conservancy does. We enjoyed our tour with its Chair David. He is a delightful wealth of knowledge. We are looking forward to repeat trips!
West Hartford Reservoir

Park
Nature & Parks
Recreation area offering forested walking trails around a working water reservoir.
Slide 1 of 8
The reservoir has many trails, some paved, some gravel road, some paths through the woods that diverge. Choices to enhance your living can be found if one but chooses the road less traveled.
I completed my first 5K here! The uphill sections were definitely a challenge for a beginner, but I loved the experience overall. The scenery is beautiful—and I even spotted some deer!
I went there for running. I tried to use the single bike trails, but many of them were covered with greens (luckily no poison ivy), but beautiful overall.
One of my favorite places to go for a hike. Peaceful, clean, and plenty of wildlife! Find the trails in the woods - they are much more interesting than the paved trails.
I'm amazed by the beauty of this place! MDC operates the water treatment plants located at this reservoir. This is a privately owned area and not a public park. There was MDC Police that patrolled the area when I was there. Parking was plentiful when we went on a beautiful spring weekday. There were clean porta potties onsite. There were trails in the woods and out in the open; the trails were paved and gravel. It is opened daily from sunrise to sunset and closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. There were two trails; 3.4-mile loop red trail and 2.0-mile loop yellow trail. We started off with the gravel yellow trail that has a slight incline. Then we got onto part of the red loop which was near the bridge overlooking the water. We saw a couple of deer in the woods, geese, and turtles in the water. This is where we walked on pavement. Some of the trees were marked by type. The trail was busy with walkers and bikers. Overall, I really enjoyed the hike/walk and can't wait to go back.
West Hartford Reservoir offers beautiful walking trails, perfect for nature lovers seeking tranquility. The red trail is fully paved, while the yellow trail is partially paved, catering to various preferences. Additionally, there are connecting trails for extended exploration. The terrain is mostly flat, with a few gentle hills, making it accessible for all skill levels. Whether you seek a leisurely stroll or a scenic hike, this reservoir has something for everyone. Happy Trails, Marisa Balletti-Lavoie
This place is great for hiking and bicycling also taking your dog here. They have a beautiful Reservoir right when you pull in and off to the left will be parking. They also have another Reservoir more towards the back that goes in a loop. They have plenty of trails here that go in a loop they have a beautiful bridge and it is a awesome spot to take lovely beautiful pictures. If nobody has been here I would definitely recommend checking this place out. My dog loves it here and we try to come here at least once a month so he could stretch his legs and enjoy looking at the reservoir. There is plenty of parking if you get here early.
To anyone who likes long walk come to reservoir best place for walking and using bicycles. your allowed to bring your dogs. please keep the road clean.

Great little place that our almost 4yo enjoyed. We got there in time to see and touch one of the snakes they have on display. We went midweek so it was low-key and not busy. Clean, open space, but geared towards the younger kids. I think anyone over 6/7 years old would get bored pretty quickly here.
Great place to bring your younger kids. Plenty of toys, exhibits and animals. Each room has a different theme and art of toys. Our 2.5 year old was entertains. Great price for the time spent there. Its is a little disappointing from what it used to be but still a wonderful location. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely would consider a museum pass there. I hope they have an outside playground or exhibit one day.
Currently there just isn't enough interactive exhibits to keep your child entertained for more than 1 hour. Even then, most of them weren't very engaging. This children's museum is as if they collected old or outdated exhibits from other children's museum that were meant to be thrown away. There is an outdoor area with a caged bobcat and coyote, and what looks like a butterfly garden (which most likely won't be open during covid). The staff are super friendly, nice, and very helpful. My children did enjoy their time here, but stated they had no desire to come back.
Well well what a fun place this is. The preschooler are going to love this place. Dinosaurs to figure out and so many exotic animals to see and learn about them. The curiosity lab is too good and my kids were so happy there.
Kyle & his team came to our elementary school for family night and did an absolutely incredible job teaching families about native CT animals and other STEAM concepts. 11/10 would recommend!
So I am giving it four stars to the simple fact that my son had a lot of fun. But I will say online it looks way different than in person. It’s perfect for very small children. I would say no older than 4-5. It’s like a school hallway that has different rooms with themed activities it just wasn’t a “science museum “ in my eyes. I’d call it an activity center or something. My son had a blast so I won’t take away from that at all, I say just look into updated reviews.
Went for Father’s Day- way overpriced for what it is. Super disappointed. I had a library pass for BOGO free thank goodness, so I paid $30 for 4 of us. I’m still upset I paid that much. My 5 year old was way too old for most of the things. It was a short classroom hallway with rooms with different themes and toys. Maybe I’m spoiled by Imagine Nation Children’s museum in Bristol but this place was so overpriced for barely anything. My two year old barely had fun, my 5 year old was bored. Paying for adult tickets for something that adults have to be present for in order to supervise the children is tacky. Especially for a place like this. I highly do not recommend this place and I’m not picky at all. Such a waste of money for our family.
This is a cute little museum that keeps unfolding to reveal a little bit more and a little bit more around each corner. Between the animals and the interactive maze and the dinosaur room and the butterfly garden and, of course, Connie the Whale, we spent nearly two and a half hours there! The timed entry ticketing system was straightforward, the staff was friendly, the museum had lots of information to share throughout, and overall it was a good value.

Attended The Complete Works of Jane Austen production at Playhouse on the Park. Never disappointed & ALWAYS amazed with the rich atmosphere and set designs! I’ve attended several productions at this venue and not ONE set has been repetitive. The creativity is OFF the charts! Informative and engaging material with entertaining & compelling performances. Will return for more events & will invite friends & family!
The 2nd act was crazy!! These actors were so talented and all music was live. They performed all their own music. It was raucous and just over the top at the end. We danced, sang along, audience participation encouraged. Amazing!! Im convinced the actor/musician that played Jerry E Lewis has done this before. Down pat!! What a talent. Loved it. And a story behind it was one i never knew. GO!!
We saw Million Dollar Quartet. Loved it. Loved the playhouse. Small intimate. Decent sound and lighting. Easy free parking close by. Helpful, friendly volunteers. For the performers I have to say this was one of the most energetic and enjoyable finales I've seen. In dozens of shows. Perfection.
Nice intimate venue with comfortable seats, great entertainment and adequate rest rooms!
First time there this past weekend. We saw Million Dollar Quartet and it was fantastic. The venue is small which puts every patron really close to the action. action. The talent was incredible. Being unfamiliar with the area I was unsure if there were any parking lots. I was lucky that there was a parking spot on the street in front of the building. The lobby was a bit small and full concession stand was not open because their outside vendor wasn't able to staff it. That said, the show was so good that i still gave it 5 stars. We already purchased tickets for their next show!
Had the chance to see Pippin. The show was great and Playhouse on Park had a very intimate setting, so any seat was a great seat! There was plenty of street parking. The neighborhood had places to walk around and eat nearby as well.
1st time here and Million Dollar Quartet was FANTASTIC!! All the players were a 10 but a special shout out to Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis for their perfect interpretation of their characters!! See a show here!!!
This review is more for the Connecticut Shakespeare festival than the actual venue, but the venue itself was great as well. I recently went to see Into the Woods with my wife. My only regret was that I didn't buy tickets to every other production that they put on this summer. I was thoroughly impressed with the production. Playhouse on Park was an excellent venue for it, as I felt that every seat in the venue was a good seat with an excellent view of the performance. I did not initially know what into the woods was really going to be about, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Every one of the performers was at a high professional level. I feel like they could have packed out a large theater. I was so impressed I was actually going to buy tickets to come to the show The following day with my kids, but couldn't fit it into my schedule. So instead I watched it on Disney plus with my kids. I didn't realize how well it was performed until I actually watched the Disney production and thought that some of the performers out did the Disney production. One of those shows that inspired me to see if I could get back into theater and try to introduce it to my children. Thank you!

Absolutely love Westmoor. A variety of family friendly options. Our son has gone to summer camp for probably 6-8 weeks during his grade school years. The counselors and staff were wonderful. We have hiked throughout the park in a dozen or more occasions since 2016, when we settled in to the area. Nothing strenuous. A nice time in nature. We’ve see some fun wildlife, such as Blue Heron and Bobcat. You can even have a guided walk with and learn all kinds of interesting information. We have done night hikes, campfires, and ghost stories with the boy scouts and have taken hay rides around the property by tractor. We have also eaten there at catered events at the farm. The dinner’s exquisite. A fun, serene, and pretty setting. Worth the experience.
Spacious, serene, beautiful. The barn closes sometimes so be sure to check their hours before trying to view animals. The tool shed covered in moss adds a great ambiance and feeling of relaxation.
Westmoor Park is a functioning farm with familiar farmyard animals, a little menagerie with some unusual ones: the llama and alpaca are star attractions but there’s also an aviary and a terrarium with unusual snakes, amphibians and reptiles. The farm is just a small part of a sprawling wilderness park with an easy walking trail running through it. The staff and crew are welcoming and always willing to share information about all the denizens of the park.
Always a great place to bring the kids! The animals are cute too 😊
This place is great if you want to spend time outside! There are hiking trails, farm animals, and a small sitting area. The trails are accessible and very easy. We went in the early spring so it was pretty muddy but still manageable. The animals seem well taken care of and there's even a friendly farm cat. This place is great for children and families. It is located in what feels like the middle of a neighborhood so it's easy to access and there's a good amount of parking.
Westmoreland Park is a lovely local park with hiking trails and farm animals. There is a small parking lot. There are a number of trails to hike, a couple ponds and fields.
This place is obviously perfect for little kids given that there are animals and areas for them to explore. But I also ventured here solo and hiked/walked the trails. It was very peaceful and I came across many birds and turtles. Once nice weather you can enjoy the picnic area after you enjoy the beautiful grounds. Lots of parking too.
This place is amazing for kids and has so many animals to see. The barn cat is also really nice but you have to be slow if you want a chance at petting her. Here they have a garden and it is so peaceful to sit in it. Overall would definitely recommend!

I have to say I learned a few things about Noah Webster and the reasons for making the dictionary. The house itself is small and simple, reflecting his family life from when he was born until he moved out. It shows life in a more simple some than some of the more extravagant homes of the wealthy, like the nearby Mark Twain house.
Noah Webster House is a worthwhile outing. The history and preservation of the artifacts proved to be truly worthwhile. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to explore the legacy housed within the historic site. During the guided tour of the house, my daughter and I were deeply impressed by the wealth of background information shared. The details illuminated the scope and depth of the site's importance. Prior to the tour, we were unaware of Webster's remarkable impact in both politics and education. The information presented offered a new understanding of their influential contributions. In retrospect, the tour was a memorable experience and well worth the time and effort invested.
Small but full of history! We spent around an hour on a quiet weekday afternoon there. Great for kids!
Driving school student from Moley Elementary schools. School trip; I was the school bus driver. Kids had fun from what the told me. Great day for them.
Words. Words. Words. Thanks Noah for making them American! In 1828 his own Dictionary was published and the rest is history! Webster’s Blue Back Speller gave us pronunciation and a commonality for equalized relations among our people. We still depend on his dictionary in schools and homes throughout our nation. This house is a little gem that brings his story to life.
Great way to spend a couple of hours with my 16 year old. Lots to learn about and the garden is a nice touch. I would love to see hands on classes for adults...open hearth cooking, spinning wheel or butter and cheese making. Maybe an herbal medicine class appropriate for that time period that is still useful today.
Cute little museum, interesting to learn about the history of the dictionary, American English, and the census. Plus historical living is interesting.
I learned so much more about Noah than I ever knew before.
