Port-au-Prince

Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital city, sits on the Gulf of Gonâve. The Musée du Panthéon National Haïtien honors the nation’s history and founding fathers. The Iron Market, a large 1891 covered bazaar, has produce and handicraft vendors. Nearby is the immense Notre Dame de l'Assomption Cathedral, reduced to a ruin by a 2010 earthquake. Colorful gingerbread-style houses from the turn of the 19th century dot the city.

The most underrated and overlooked Museum in the world. A must visit and learn not just for Haitians but anyone interested in world history. It’s a treasure and wealth of information. Really enjoyed the free guide who explained everything in English. Photos prohibited inside.
The original story has its virtue, although sometimes I feel it lacks something. I only remembered the pantheon, so I decided to write a review about this particular place.
The museum is nice. It has a good collection of artifacts and paintings. Unfortunately you cannot take any photos inside. If you visit make sure to go around the garden and perhaps visit the restaurant in the back garden.
Learned quite a bit of history here. The restaurant was closed for renovations. There's a nice garden area in the back for pictures. If you don't speak French or kreyol, be sure to ask for a tour guide to walk you through the museum. And of course, no photos allowed inside.
That museum it's Very nice, I invite you to visite My country Port-au-Prince, Haïti
The Musée du Panthéon National Haïtien was opened in 1983. This cultural center is to perpetuate and disseminate the memory of "Fathers of the Nation". One of its main missions is to participate in heritage conservation and dissemination of national culture. The MUPANAH is an institution whose function is the conservation, protection and enhancement of historical and cultural heritage #LetsGuide #localguides
Was not destroyed in 2010 earthquake! A large number of historians believe Haiti was the first place Columbus landed in the Americas. The museum covers more than the slave revolution and does an excellent job tracing the history of the Taínos and Taino artifacts, There is a section of the museum which shows the brutal life of a slave with original chains. What sets this museum as a gem in the Caribbean is the display of the original anchor of the Caravel of Christopher Columbus, the Santa Maria measuring 4 meters high. A MUST SEE in the history of the Americas!!!

If you are in Port-au-Prince then you have to make a stop here. Great place to shop for everyone on your list. They have t-shirts, dolls, bags, jewelry and more. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They have a beautiful wall to have a great photo opportunity. Loved every minute of it.
AMAZING! This is a have to stop if you are in Port au Prince. You have to take the tour and ask for Tricky. He's the best. Mario is your guy for a pizza after you have taken the tour and bought some amazing jewelry. Great place!
Very nice handmade artisan souvenirs at this place, although they are a little bit pricey. I was very pleased at the high quality of the crafts!
Wonderful place to visit and shop! The tour was wonderful, the people are friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious!

Lovely private art gallery located in PAP close to Hotel Oloffson with an absolutely huge selection to choose from. El-Saieh Gallery was founded by Issa El-Saieh, a jazz band leader and patron of painters. Great selection of fine art from Haiti as well as an incredible selection of carved wood and metal work. The difference between this and most others is the historic perspective you can gain from their collection, which spans decades. Prices are very good with something attainable for any budget. As a bonus, Sharona will be a gracious host and you will never feel pressured for a sale. I highly recommend stopping by if in PAP and browsing their many, many floors of art!
