Tequisquiapan

Tequisquiapan is a town in central Mexico. It’s known for its mineral spas and the well-preserved Spanish colonial buildings lining its cobbled streets. In the center, the pink neoclassical Santa María de la Asunción church overlooks arcaded Plaza Miguel Hidalgo. The town is known for crafts like the handwoven baskets sold at the handicrafts market. The leafy Pila Park is on the site of a former mill.

One of the best towns in Queretaro
Beautiful place to spend a day! Quaint shops and restaurants surround this plaza, and there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the ambiance of this historic little town. The sights, sounds, and smells are enchanting! Highly recommend visiting here!
Beautiful plaza, full of activity and great places to eat! We live the atmosphere here and will return!
This is center of Tequisqiapan on the way to Queretaro. Nice ambience, square aurrounded by shops, eateries and trinket sellers. The alleys have more shops.
Great relaxing place to stroll, shop and eat.
Beautiful place. Has a lot of options to shop and eat.
A beautiful pedestrian plaza that makes you feel as though you are going back in time, to a simpler way of life. Untainted and holding true to the traditions of this country. There are nice boutiques, artesanal shops, and restaurants. It is representative of the innocent and warm essence of Mexico. Quiet during the week and vibrant with a deep sense of community on the weekends. There's only one plea, for the church to tone down the recording they play 3 times per day. The distorted sound shatters the magical experience of being here.
Great little town for a weekend to spend with your partner/family. Almost every little street/alley has a perfect background for a picture. The markets have a large variety to shop for hand made products. Restaurants - can be a little pricey (imo)

What an amazing, beautiful, informative, and exciting tour. It's a lot of talking, but because there's a lot of information. We had our 7 and 4 year old and our little one didn't withstand so much talking. But as soon as the hammers came out and we got to breaking rocks to find opals, everyone was having the best time. Highly recommend it.
Took my family and had a great time looking for opals up near the mines. Came back to the office and were treated to a workshop tour and opal tutorial. The outer shop has a lot of nice rough rock and other items, but the inner shop is incredible. Fine jewelery, bulk opals of every finish, quality and size, and tons of unique items you won't find anywhere else in Mexico. I'll be back on my trip next year.
Really enjoyed the visit here. There is as you would expect a shop with lots of tat to buy but that had no interest for me. The actual mine is great though ,the views are amazing and the mine it's self is fascinating. It is an open mine, kind of like a quarry. You can literally look on the ground and pick up opals and quartz. Even the really bumpy truck ride on the way up is part of the charm and experience. Highly interesting and recommended.
Very nice people! My wife wasn't feeling well so we didn't do the mine tour, but we stayed awhile in the workshop/store. The proprietress was very kind and offered my wife some medicine that helped her feel better.
This was an interesting experience for me. My two dogs were allowed to go. Alex spoke perfect English and gave us the tour. He was very knowledgeable and fun. Highly recommend Hector Montes tour of the mine.
My fiance and I loved the place. You can get by yourself opals from the mine. The explanation by Hector Montes is excellent. It's an experience that is worth it.
Great individual approach towards visitors. Friendly family business. Worth visiting.
Is a good tour to know about Opalos.

Beautifully church with interesting architecture both inside and outside... Combining different styles and material, very simple at the entrance. The altar and nave are beautiful with Roman columns intermixed with volcanic stone corners and adornments. We were there on a Sunday, so there were baptisms and a wedding, the wedding celebration came out to the plaza with mariachis parading and serenading the happy couple..... lots of restaurants a d benches by the shaded trees, enjoy
A perfect day trip to a historic little town. Tequisquiapan has a charming market with beautiful handmade crafts and amazing artisanal cheeses. It’s an easy place to enjoy whether you’re traveling solo, with your partner, or bringing the whole family. Warm, friendly, and full of character. Definitely worth the visit!
Was here for a wedding. Beautiful place both inside and out; but a bit tight on the timing of things. As the wedding procession left, hearse rolls up to the main door... A little awkward, but no doubt this place is a mainstay in Tequisquiapan. There is free public wifi in the square just outside the church in the square which is a large and community gathering place. Much more populated in the evening though.
Beautiful church! Highly recommend to see it.
Beautiful church in the heart of El Centro
A lovely church set in a traditional, authentic, beautiful pedestrian plaza. Unfortunately the unusually loud and distorted recording of bells played three times per day disrupts the genuine ambience of the town. When it sits quietly on the plaza and during the times it chimes the natural bell, it offers a serene presence of love and grace in the world. One year later, the church is playing pleasant tunes at a more reasonable volume.
Touristy but pretty. Plenty of sights around but be wary with parking and patient with traffic
Lovely and peaceful place. I love it.

A really nice little museum with some incredible models with amazing detail well worth visiting if you are in town.
What a beautiful and magical collection. Our 7 and 4 year olds LOVED looking at every scene. It was almost like a massive game of I Spy. Highly recommend it for families and anyone who enjoys miniatures. Totally worth the cost ($50 MXN).
Small museum with typical Mexican scenes in miniatures. I really enjoyed visiting this place and have a great game room.
What a gift to the history and culture of Mexico. Such a fun place, full of love.
Beautiful museum. The quality and details of the pieces are incredible. It doesn't look that big but there is actually so much to see, you will want to stop in front of every displays. Amazing way of discovering or re-discovering Mexican culture and tradition, way of living and all the typical places, shops and others from Mexico. Ambiance is very good, friendly, and you can see they really love and are passioned about what they are creating, and it reflects on the museum displays. Highly recommended!
A beautiful experience in Tequisquiapan !! The most entertaining miniature museum of the Mexico culture. Definitely a must on your next visit to Tx.
An amazing feat of creativity and devotion, the entire museum was basically created by a single woman who sometimes works at the door. She's extremely friendly and her enthusiasm for her work is inspiring. Please support this museum by visiting and talking to her, since the mexican government has done nothing at all to promote or help.
What a nice little museum. The miniature panorama's are super cute and full of humor.

A large public area that has a plethora of kids play equipment and quiet area to just be. A public washroom and some vendors are there. There's also a waterslide that was not in use at that time. Great place to visit, but please be cognisant of the closing time otherwise you would get locked into the park.
Part of Mexico's magic pueblos. We love these places. There is a lot to see and learn. The food is excellent.
A very friendly and picturesque spot that portrays what Tequisquiapan was like before the water levels dropped because of overbuilding and the introduction of multinational corporations.
Nice and quiet. Beautiful trees and we'll kept gardens.
Beautiful park, a lot of couples kissing
Good park it has a lot of potential!!
This is a mid-size park in the town of Tequisquiapan. The day we visited the park was full with lots of visitors and there was a nice exhibit of luxury cars. There are a few places to eat around the park that do offer local food at a cheap price. The trees are home to many large species of birds that harmonize the park very well. This park is home to the National Fair of the Cheese and Wine. There is an area with traditional kid games as well, with plenty of swings and slides. We loved the umbrella covered corridor next to the kids playground. The only reason I give it three stars is the place could use some cleanup, there was a lot of glass shards from broken bottles, wood and other dangerous debris from the wine fair.
Ok park ..it was a Monday so not a lot going on. The bathrooms were locked so not excited about that when u have 3 kids. But this little town is super cute lots f things to see.

(Translated by Google) Excellent place to spend the afternoon. The toasts are good and the drinks are well prepared. Personal attention from its owner. The music is nice (they play everything). The prices are very good and in general a good experience. (I wish the potato portions weren't so small and they offered you home-made botanicals).
Is ok.noisy rock band wannabe.short food menu and long drinks menu. In general if you wanna feel like north of the northern ,in SJR you can try it .
Average place but very good to grab a beer
(Translated by Google) To have a good time with friends. Good prices but I recommend always asking about the promotion of the day. Live music and comedy events are also held here. The bathrooms disappointed me, they should take more care of cleanliness. (Original) Para pasar un buen rato con los amigos. Buenos precios pero recomiendo siempre preguntar por la promoción del día. Aquí también se realizan eventos de música en vivo y comedia. Los baños me decepcionaron, deberían de cuidar más la limpieza.
