The hotel itself is extremely clean and put together nicely. Beautiful views throughout. Rooms are nice, ours was clean and decently sized, though we did get an upgrade. Unfortunately the AC didn’t ever get below 71 degrees and the toilet handle had to be jiggled after each use. Beds were very firm and somewhat uncomfortable. Food was mediocre, not horrible, and not anything to get excited about either. Better off to leave the property and explore some of the amazing local spots. We hung out by the beach and the service was poor at best. Server would barely come around and after he took your drink order you wouldn’t see him for another 20 minutes with that order. They add 20% gratuity to every order whether you like it or not, charge a “resort” fee, and charge you to park. The servers definitely know they are getting their tip and the service reflects it. For the price they charge and the value you get, there are better options in the keys. We will not be returning to the property again.

There are 4 restaurants across the site, but beware not all are open every night. There is also very limited choice for vegetarian travellers. Unfortunately we had to have the same dish, from the same restaurant on two consecutive nights. There are local options for food, but none that are within walking distance. The rooms are nice and clean with all amenities you would expect for a resort of this standing. However, do not be fooled by any descriptions of partial ocean views. Unless you are on the top floor you will have probably no view of the ocean, unless you go for a ‘full ocean view’. The patio view rooms will experience some noise from the resort pool and bar. Although this was not too distracting. There was some building work going on during our stay, and this posed more of an irritation. We were not aware of this or informed at check-in. There is a nice pool in the centre of the resort, plus a well maintained beach area plus bay swimming zone. Water-sports are also available to hire. There is self parking available, as well as the usual valet service. There is an adequate gym on site, but some of the equipment was non functional. If you are looking to kick back and relax, and eat on site (with no dietary restrictions), I would highly recommend.

For that we should of just Valet. Then they lie to you tell you , you have free breakfast & once you’re sat down at the restaurant etc after you’re done eating they bring you a $91 check then they tell you “oh no sorry it just to confirm you came sat with us for FREE breakfast “ then when at check out they were trying to charge me the $91 fee of breakfast? Mind you breakfast didn’t even look worth $91 . Also they charge you random charges for example they randomly charged me for check out $346 for “pro rated room” then get charged again FOR THE SAMEEE room $433 they told me it will be returned so we will see if that true. Im supposed to be charged back $746 because also they dont tell you online they charge $200 a night for “security fee” you stay there. Lastly some of the workers there make you feel you dont belong there or very dismissive. Not to mention the rooms when you sleep SUPER hot. You put it at 67 and it feel like a sauna at night in there sleeping, both rooms we stayed in. Honestly ive worked hard to have always wanted to stay at Playa Largo & i will say it has changed so much over time. Im so disappointed. This place has potential but not with all its extra fees and lies etc. will never stay here again. Lost a very faithful costumer who would recommend this place to everyone. ALSO you all see the owner comented he does email you but once you reply about what going on there is not response back on his behalf. Its been 5 days since ive heard back. We visited so many venues before deciding; but once we stepped in Playa Largo, we were blown away with the service, venue and overall aesthetics of the hotel. Far from a 4 star resort. Id only recommend this place for a Hotel Day Pass to hangout by the water. Hotel is under some type of renovation. That wasn't known until hotel check-in when they handed us a poorly copied piece of paper listing all the inconveniences it may cause. Room wasn't ready at 4pm check-in. Even though we were handed the room keys and told it was. Cleaning lady was still in there and requested an additional 20 mins. Sheets had rips in them, chairs were stained. Overall impression didn't impress us at all. 1 of only 2 restaurants are open. They ran out of the Prime Rib special that they advertise and pushed during dinner. Waiter was nice enough to comp the meal due to the excessive wait time and debacle it caused. But getting that charge removed from the bill at hotel checkout was a mission that made me feel like I was the one inconveniencing them to do. Be prepared for a boatload of added daily taxes on top of the ludicrous amount they're charging for rooms ($511 a night). Not including the following... Multiple State Sales Tax misc charges per day ($5.63, $0.75, $3.68) on top of the State tax of $38.34. Room occupancy tax of $3.75 on top of the resort fee occupancy tax of $2.45, on top of the $49.00 resort fee. Parking is apparently $10.00 and if there's a wedding your going to have to wait for a while for a space to open up. Sunsets at this location are 10/10. Dog fee of $75 is reasonable. Everything else is a bit of a disappointment for a Resort it claims to be. Id recommend Playa Largo. The $1,728.00 for 2 nights is not worth it.

Luckily, we were upgraded to the ocean view coconut wing room because our original reservation was in the construction zone and it had a view of the parking lot. The hammock wing ocean view suites have an obstructed view due to the mangroves, but the beach in that part of the resort is nicer. The beach here is, generally speaking, much nicer than other parts of the keys. We went to Key West, and couldn’t wait to get back to our beach back in Key Largo when we saw the seaweed and tourists. One complaint I have is that there is no ventilation fan in the bathroom and no air freshener. I instantly wish I would have brought a febreeze air freshener with me from home, as well as an electric kettle. Also, the $10-$15 daily parking fee is a scam considering there is already a $50/day resort fee—parking should be included. How do they expect we get to the resort? Minutes away from many restaurants and shopping. On site there are excursions for snorkeling, scuba, and all water sports. We were very pleased with the restaurant and their staff. Everyone on the staff is very pleasant. They greet you with a smile , very friendly and very helpful. The grounds crew is constantly cleaning watering immaculate grounds. The pool area was enough to cool off. Plenty of lounges. There is bar at the pool. Everywhere you look on the property. There is an activity to keep you busy. You can enjoy dinner or a beverage kickback and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. Would definitely stay at the Reef House again when we return to Key Largo next year.

When I talked to the manager, her name is Tainne, she told me that I hang the sign just in time for the cleaning crew to read it. I stayed at many hotels that the cleaning crew are so aware of the guests whereabout that they even clean the room only when the guests are not in the room. We chose this hotel for the location, directly on the water. The pool is small. However it does have 2 piers with plenty of seating. It also has paddleboards. Ice machines are located beside the front office I didn't realize this until the end of my trip. Beautiful landscapes. Very close proximity to shops and restaurants. Many within walking distance. We were in the main building with just a garden view, but the room was large enough for 3 people. The beds are firm but not uncomfortable. I would bring your own pillow. There is a small refrigerator, microwave and Keurig. Large desk. Each lamp has a USB plug and regular plug in. Bathrooms are nice but very small. The rooms are nicely done and look very modern. Beds were comfy and the bedding was white so it’s clean. The whole room was Very clean and the boat docks right at the resort to take you diving. They have dive instructors if you need to get your PADI license which I did. Kaitlyn was an amazing instructor. She really made me feel very confident learning all of the hands-on diving stuff. The resort staff is super friendly. We went diving twice on their boats and Captain gabe and Captain Kevin were really nice. I felt very safe with them driving. They also had a lot of deck hands to help with all the diving equipment. Everybody seem to be enjoying themselves, they were at least 40 people on the boat, and it felt very comfortable and not crowded. The owner Jay happened to be on the boat one of the times and he is very nice and helpful too. It’s also really convenient if you stay at the resort and dive there because you could keep your driving equipment in the storage, which is very close to the rooms. I would recommend this resort to anyone wanting to dive and have an easy convenience and clean day with very nice accommodating staff..

We do not dive but still love going to the resort. The rooms are always clean. Beds are very comfortable - sheets, blankets, & pillows are clean & never stained. Being able to have a room with a full kitchen at an affordable price is a huge plus. They do provide basic pots, utensils , plates, cups, etc. There is a pod coffee maker in the kitchen. They provide coffee pods, sugar, & cream. We always take advantage of the kayaks & paddle boards available to use. Kids love being able to easily get right into the bay. The staff is always friendly! Our suite had no access other than by lugging our heavy bags through the gravel lot then up the stairs...on our own with no help. The office closed at 5:00 leaving no way to get assistance if needed. There was moldy doors and walls which obviously had water damage. There was no extra blankets, no silverware or cleaning products for the dishes, no phone in the room and shockingly NO outlets by the beds, which was very surprising in this day and age. The nightstand and bathroom vanity tray were in very poor condition with paint chipping off. The curtains were mismatched and had stains on them. Give it one star for being spacious. Overall, it seems nobody cared to take a few steps to take pride in this place enough just to make it more presentable and less "nasty".

Some were extra helpful, like more so than most other IHG locations. As a diamond elite member I’ve stayed at many for comparison. The hotel itself is nothing special. There are a few different esthetic details that make it appear nicer in certain ways compared to other older holiday inns. Like the waterfall and tiki bar by the pool, however; the hotel really falls short in most other areas and why I’m giving it 3 stars. Once you get past the Lobby to the rooms, it really lacks. Especially with being labeled a “resort” location, it was definitely disappointing overall. Rooms are in desperate need of a makeover, like furnishings are older and ran down. Definitely dated! Bathroom was old and rundown as well while Ceilings are the ugly dropdown acoustics. Bathtub would not drain properly. Also the bathtub had terrible water pressure and took forever to fill up. I had the faucet on full blast as you can see from the photos and not a whole lot of water was coming out! Our bathroom door was quite messed up as well. Like half the time it would not open. Both me and my fiancée got stuck in there due to the door not opening. Mattress hurt both of our backs, however, the sheets were super comfy. The furniture on the balcony was older, still it was nice sitting above the water while watching all the iguanas climb around on the wall by the water. Also they have no microwaves in the rooms, and they only keep the coffee out in the morning. I’m used to holiday inns that have the hot coffee all day long. So that was disappointing. Also there’s no elevators, so you have to drag all your luggage through the resort then up the stairs and down the long hallway in our case. How far you have to drag your luggage around depends on the room you get and how accessible it is from the working lot. The location is pretty good. Like it’s right in the middle of key largo with everything being easily accessible, so that was nice!

We booked a room close by that was not working for us so we decided to relocate. We come out to the Keys typically yearly and usually try new places. We normally stay at some of the larger resorts and have enjoyed the properties but we wanted something a little more low key with fewer people this time. Luckily came across this place. When we came to check the property out we were meet with the most friendly amazing woman Maura. She was extremely accommodating and found us a room that would fit our needs. The room is spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable and you have water pressure in the shower with hot water. No fighting to get hair products out of your hair. If you are looking for a full kitchen they have that too. Not that we used anything other then the coffee maker and refrigerator. I really appreciate the regular coffe pot since I am a big coffee person! They also have a cute breakfast bar outside with muffins, frittatas, coffee and juice. Perfect for a little something to get your day started. The beach area was great to hangout and enjoy the ocean. From floating around enjoying a drink to slapping some fins on and taking a look around it has something for all the water lovers in your group. I highly recommend and will be back to enjoy this little gem again.

We much rather stay here than a $250-$400 room. They’re so nice and accommodating. They have a great little breakfast continental breakfast in the morning with coffee and muffins and egg bites. The room was clean, the property was cute, and the property has its own little beach area. I booked this on a whim and would stay again! The breakfast is small grab and go items, but it was perfect for an on the go morning. We probably paid more than if we had booked direct, but was still good value. The vibe was laid back, but all was super clean and staff were helpful. They only do room service every few days, which felt a bit long after four nights, but sure they would have done it sooner if asked to. We were able to buy ice (would have preferred a free machine) but no ice buckets in our suite, so that simple addition could do with sorting, but we managed. We slept really well as no windows in our bedroom and all was very quiet, so we really liked that. The rest of the grounds were clean, natural and useable, but not what we'd really call a 'resort'...great for relaxing. No fishing allowed, which we LOVED as we didn't have to endure the smells or be nervous when cooling off in the bay. It's a hidden away place near Key Largo. The property is relatively small but has a very personal touch to it. The dock/bay is beautiful with lots of options for taking a quick kayak trip. Had a great relaxed vibe and the staff was helpful with the kayak equipment and local recommendations. Another guest described it as sailors summer camp. Not everyone there could sail thou. While you can never guarantee wildlife sightings we saw manatees from the dock multiple day and dolphins while kayaking the bay. Rooms were clean, but not the most modern. Wifi was good. Loved the random decor choices.

There seem to be reviews for a Sailing Club mixed in here. Confusing. It appears I got this confused too and I am trying to move this review to the Pelican Key Largo Cottages. My apologies to the owners of the Key Largo Cottages. The room was tiny, no larger than a king sized bed. There was no window, as the a/c unit took up any light the window might have let in. The room was so small there was no room to open our suitcase. Strangely there was not a single picture or poster on any of the walls - made it look more like a jail cell. The bedspread did not look safe - not sure when that was last washed. A great disappointment, when we had prepaid $159.00 for an economy room. We checked out an hour after checking in. Of course there was no refund on a prepaid room, but losing the money was better than staying there. There are few cottages that have an ocean view. The photo of the beach is misleading, as it is not open and pristine except for a few feet. There are also 3 boat ramps and there is engine fuel in the water. The main photo does NOT look like the actual property. There is some major trick photography going on. It looks like something out of the 70s with no updates since then. There is no public place that has a/c so on a hot day, as this was, there is no place to go to get cooled down.

Corey and Captain Edwin did everything to ensure we were fully informed and prepared with our documents and transport before arriving in Key Largo.
