We did a short hike in the northern section from the picnic area to the sugar mill ruins. The ruins were lovely to behold. There were restrooms and an interpretive display. Parts of the display could use updating. Don't miss the little trail from the picnic area to the remains of the former slave cabins. It's tucked away in the back, but worth seeking. The entry to the 6 mile trail was closed due to storm damage. We then drove to the southern parking lot. Clean park bathrooms, picnic tables, benches, and a gorgeous old live oak. Two trails - one is a short loop, and the other is the southern entrance to the 6 mile trail. We were not as hardy as we thought we were once the sun came out and the humidity kicked in. We got as far as Cedar Creek and are glad we got to see that! The view from the little foot bridge was amazing.

The wall pictures are amazing. When I entered I was greeted by two very welcoming people. Then I was given a tour of the museum. The tour was amazing! I learned so much about our town's rich history. One of the many cool things on display was this city of Flagler Beach flag taken into orbit aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour on a flight to the International Space Station in December 2001. Both of the volunteers were very knowledgeable about the history and had amazing stories about Flagler Beach. The museum was also very clean and very well organized. They also have a gift shop where you can purchase books about our local history, postcards, etc. I highly recommend both residents and tourists to stop by the museum and learn about our rich history!

We were immediately welcomed by Carol and knew that we were at someplace that cared about its guests. We went to the upstairs rooftop and Sophia continued the welcoming atmosphere. We followed up with an order of chicken nachos for an appetizer, which really hit the spot! Our entrees came out and two folks went with burgers, which said were great. Once on the trail, it became loose sand & there were sand spurs that got in my dogs feet. I saw deer tracks but no deer. My shoes got soaking wet from humidity in grass. There were also swarms if mosquitoes. We turned back after 2/3 mile. I will go back on a less humid day in winter without the dog. Pretty scenery, good hike.
