The showers weren't scalding, but they were plenty warm for us. Having laundry facilities on site was also extremely handy, as this was about halfway through our trip. The campground was super convenient to multiple restaurants and shops (including delicious coffee at Mug Up w/ Salmon Sisters). But the biggest pro, in our opinion, was the WILDLIFE! From the seat of our van we were able to observe sea otters, harbor seals, harbor porpoises, and HUMPBACK WHALES! So, make sure to keep your eyes peeled and your binoculars handy the whole time! We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

We wish we had stayed longer! Great location on the spit, great staff, bathroom and laundry were exceptionally clean. This is the only campground we have ever been to where there is an attendant in the showers to maintain the traffic and cleanliness. Showers are free, warm and spacious. There are ample number of coin operated washers and dryers, and change is readily available if needed.The office is very nice and clean; it is well stocked with small store, information and cafe. Get a spot on the beach and watch the otters swim, fish jump, and bald eagles soar. Loved having campfires every night in the individual fire pits. Can hear some morning traffic of cars on the spit but nothing disruptive. Booking was easy and communication was great; we were able to be next to the 3 other RV's we were traveling with. Our teens liked being able to get out of RV walk the beach or down to the shops. It is parking lot style but spaces are plenty big enough. It is one of our favorite campgrounds we have ever been to. We will definitely be back.

It was a bucket list adventure scheduled for our 41st anniversary and the entire experience far exceeded our expectations! We saw at least 17 different bear during our trip. Shortly after landing and exiting the plane, a bear walked by us on the beach. We saw others playing and roughhousing in the water, some catching salmon in midair, some leisurely walking along the path and one even napping with his head on the path. Bear viewing was equally awesome from each platform and the bridge. We cannot say enough great things about this tour! We are already talking about our next trip to Brooks Falls with Emerald Air and would highly recommend this company and trip to everyone interested in an adventure.

I'll lead with this: it is much more cost effective than the flight tours. I wouldn't have did a bear tour if I didn't find this one, so big thanks to the company for doing the boat tour and pricing it appropriately! The boat: we did our tour on The Casino. Captain's seat is in the front right. There are padded bench seats inside the cabin for 12 people. They are oddly tall so you have to put your feet up (even for the taller men). Back has a open deck with good views and less bumps. The sides are narrow walkways. The front has a deck with the landing ramp that you walk onto the beach from. The bathroom onbaord is entered from the outside of the cabin and is tight but not too bad (although I'm a small person). I used it close to the bay area so the ride was calmer. The boat is small so you feel the ride, luckily the weather was good on the day of my tour, but I can understand some of the other reviews describing a really rough ride. The tour: 15 people total including captain & the guide (so technically not enough seats). We saw brown bears, orca, puffins, eagles, seals, and otters. At Lake Clark NP you enter on the beach and take a short walk on a path to a viewing area. No real hiking involved. The less mobile in our group simply took their time. You actually cant walk far into the park as its protected land (pictured). There were 3 spots like this we used. One spot has an outhouse. We got on and off the boat to travel to the different spots. Seeing the bears is fun and exciting. We had 1 bear fairly close to us. I was hoping they would be closer. We spent a few hours here viewing them. Once we left, we sailed to a small island to see more wildlife (note that you do not & cannot get off the boat) - this was a nice bonus. We slowed down to check out an orca on the way in and a group of otters on the way back. Our tour ended early at 7 hours, but as a group everyone agreed they were ready to leave. I think if the bears had been closer to us, it would have lasted the full 8 hours.

There are approximately 1.5 miles of trails on the nature center property that are well cut and easily traversed.
