We were staying local and stopped by one a whim and glad we did. The first night we came hubby had the pommy platter and I the pork and mash. Exceptional, my Scottish born and bred husband said he could smell the sausages were authentic before he even tasted them . Naturally we came back a second night and again he had the platter and I a Parma. This quickly became our favourite pub and we will travel back to enjoy the atmosphere and foods again. The experience is worth it alone, but the food quality and incredibly generous serving sizes top it over the edge. Did I mention playground for the tiny terrors, do it you’ll be glad you did.

The bacon and mushrooms were over cooked on my husband’s order. Food was not good. There were only 2 people working the barrister and a young lady taking orders and seating people. It’s the last restaurant before leaving Sassafras - heading towards Olinda. It’s not too big on the inside but the old style windows allow natural sunlight to pour in making it appear more spacious. They have small chandeliers which adds a lovely touch. The staff are fantastic. Amazing service, always with a smile, very friendly and prompt and willing to do anything that will make your experience more enjoyable. Their coffee is very good and so are their desserts. I had lunch with family in which I chose from the Christmas in July menu. The roast turkey didn’t seem like a roast turkey though (as in, from the oven that I expected). Nevertheless it was still good. It was super busy when I came for lunch but the service remained of a high standard and we didn’t wait that long for our food to arrive. Although when one of our desserts arrives we waited 10 minutes or so for the remainder but the lovely staff did apologies and it didn’t bother us too much, considering they were running of their feet! Nope, all we got was limp half heated food from an airfyer. Our onion rings were limp and a measly amount that didn't even fill the bucket it came in (see photo). Pork ribs fell off the bone which was great, but tasted and looked boiled. They could have grilled it a little longer and on higher heat. A full rack for $35 is very overpriced compared to what you get for the same dish at nearby restaurants. The burger was also disappointing. The french fries were meh, again under cooked and tasteless. Restaurant prices but not restaurant quality I'm afraid. Lets begin with the new owner - Lubna. You could not meet a more warm, compassionate, motherly character than Lubna - and she says this is like her home kitchen (believe it, you will). I really enjoyed the comfort of the place as in previous times it was a rushed experience (and I'm told it's still busy on the weekends) however this time around it seems calmer and empowered with the love of a household - as the old saying goes "good things come to those who wait" even though waiting times are very short here. The Chai was exceptional and not overloaded with leaf or too sweet! Just right! The experience feels just right overall, with all menu items offered with passion and a mother's love. Lubna certainly made it clear that her heart is in the right place here at Olinda Deli. And with that, I can heartily confirm the notion that it will remain an excellent cafe for breakfast, lunch or snack for many years to come. Beautifully renovated hills cottage with a terrific outside deck which we dined on whilst enjoying the gorgeous view across the hills towards Healesville. The gardens are well worth a walk through as well. Definitely a great destination for a romantic dinner or a night out with close friends. In addition, Coonara Springs can provide absolutely first class function hosting. We had the most perfect wedding with 30 guests, which was made completely stress free by the professional and friendly attitude of management, staff and the chef. The menu is fantastic. Creative and original dishes displaying the finest of local produce in very tasty dishes. Highly recommended!

Had to undo the jeans & let the gut free. The service was great, staff were friendly & welcoming & the food was to die for. What a little gem of a store. Cannot wait to come back.
