The options were a cauliflower steak or Thai curry - both pretty uninspiring. I ordered the Thai curry and was asked how spicy I would like it and I said medium. The presentation was great but there was no spice in the dish at all and I would say it was actually a little on the sweet side. My husband had the crab and shrimp cake starter and the sea bass main which were good. If you’re British, don’t order the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. You will be disappointed. The sauce is thick and the pudding stodgy. The brandy snap tuille wasn’t crisp at all and impossible to break. Just tough and bendy. You get much better in your local pub back home. When we were paying the bill we were asked if we’d like to tip which I thought was cheeky given there’s already a 12.5% service charge included. Also, the server made no effort to do anything when I fed back that the dessert was pretty average so why they thought it was ok to ask for a tip is beyond me!

The service was friendly but in my opinion could be better. 4 of us were sat on the first floor close to the chefs working the Sushi bar - which was fun to watch. We arrived early (around 18:00hrs) as we were still lagging with UK time difference and the restaurant was empty upstairs. In general the food was VERY delicious with a few exceptions - for me the Ceviche starter was tasteless, which was a real shame as I had some great expectations of this dish based on the menu write-up and the description given by the waitress when requested... and this is the thing. It would have been really good if the waitress had taken a little longer to explain the dishes we were interested in, in a little more detail - especially as we were the only occupied table on the floor at the time. Another example was the Dim Sum basket; we had no idea it was coming with a little bit of everything from dumplings to Bao buns which was fantastic, and again very tasty and the experience could have been enhanced with a simple elaboration on the dish by the waitress at the time. We also ordered the Child Beef, Dynamite Spider Roll, Thai Curry and a kids meal - all very delicious indeed. Along with all this scrumptious food I also ordered a carafe of Diamond Sake and asked to have it served warm - it arrived close to boiling and when I picked it up to pour I had to drop it as it was too hot to handle... I asked the waitress for a napkin so I could pour the sake and explained I had dropped it (and spilt a fair amount of that liquid gold on the table) - I received my napkin along with a warning that the sake was hot! - Better late than never I guess lol. No effort was made to top-up my sake, I guess I could have asked. The Diamond Sake was actually very agreeable considering it had been boiled - I wonder what it might have been like without the over-eager preparation? For the 4 of us (3 adults, 1 kid) the total bill was $603 In summary Nishi serves up delicious food, is a great location with good customer care. It wouldn't take much to make this a 5-star venue (again, in my opinion) with a little more explanation on the dishes and a little more awareness of the customers needs/concerns. The food and drinks were great, and we really enjoyed being able to rent beach chairs and spend the day there. The staff are so friendly and the service excellent. We chose to sit on the sofas that are located on the beach to allow our kids to play in the sand and ocean. We only booked 2 days before and had a lovely table 2nd row to the sea. The ambience of the place was great and excellent service throughout, all done naturally and with a smile. We had the tasting menu and it was absolutely delicious. It was simply presented and packed a punch on flavour. Every course was outstanding, so many different flavours with each of the fish courses and the beef was so tender. We had 2 glasses of white and 2 glasses of red and 1 dessert wine and the bill including service charge was BBD635 or £240 which was incredible value. Best meal of the holiday by far.

The food was delicious...especially the beetroot salad and the mille-feuille dessert so delectable, service attentive and timings of food to table was excellent and well paced for quite a busy restaurant. It's oceanside setting makes for an intimate and romantic dinner reservation, with white table linens and decor all set for a fine dining experience. However the menu is quite expensive and not a big difference in options you can get on the west coast at a lower price point. But I do see the comparison between the Cliff and Tides restaurants with its connections to them, so in summary I'll definitely recommend this restaurant if only for an occasional splurge.

Due to the other restaurant and their yearly renovations we had to find another location. After walking around a little we were told to enjoy the view and food. We decided to order sushi as that was what we were wanting. Polite, attentive, funny and very knowledgeable about food and Barbados in general. Starter - Our lunch started off great with a nice presentation of fresh bread roll options. The jalapeno option was our favorite. I opted for the Amazing Spanish Gazpacho soup which is served cold. Yes, I was a little skeptical at first regarding cold soup but Antonio reassured me that I would not be disappointed - and I was NOT. Great flavors, texture and presentation. The Caribbean Spiced Chicken Wings were well executed. Tender with a nice BBQ sauce accompanied by a side of coleslaw. Most restaurants don't worry about presentation when it comes to wings but most restaurants aren't like QP Bistro. Main Course - The Beef Burger was cooked perfectly and the presentation of the fries in a mini fry basket was a very nice touch. Pairing the cheesy Ground Provision au Gratin with the Blackened Catch Of the Day was a good choice. I cannot recall exactly what the "Catch of the Day" fish was but typically in Barbados it is either Mahi-Mahi or Marlin..just to name a few. Dessert - Our choices for dessert were the Mr. Whippy's Soft Serve Ice Cream served in a waffle cone, the Tiramisu which is was a nice blend of coffee and dark chocolate. Both were a great ending to our lunch. Not too sweet. We also tried the Passion Fruit Cheesecake. I wouldn't call it the best cheesecake we've ever had but it was still good. Drinks - Strawberry daiquiri, was amazing as expected. But really, those drinks are hard to mess up anyways. As a person who loves stouts, bocks and dark beer, it was nice to see Guinness as an option on the menu. I had a few. If you would prefer liquor or a mixed drink, you are in excellent hands. They have an extensive list of options. For the Whiskey/Bourbon options alone, I counted about 23 different options. At the end of our experience, because it wasn't just lunch, it was an experience - our server allowed us to feed the fish in their beautiful fish pond. This place has it all! During our stay we went to Tides, Champers, Lone Star, Tapas and Primo.All fine dining restaurants. We were celebrating 3 occasions this holiday, so we didn't mind splashing out on fine dining and so didn't district ourselves to cost. The place, ambience, decor, location and service was all 5 star. But unfortunately the food was not and at best 2 stars. Especially when you factor the cost as this was the most expensive restaurant we went to from all the ones mentioned. They served some complimentary entrees which includes lobster balls, salted sticks with fish mayo. All good so far. Choice of bread and butter was very good. Drinks ordered were pretty amazing, although the nin alcoholic ware not so amazing. Starters we ordered a beef tartare, Waldorf salad, and a couple of different sushis. Beef tartare was excellent. Sushi was mediocre at best. Had better sushi in UK local Japanese restaurants. There were 8 pieces so it was generous. But the taste and quality didn't elevate at all. Wasabi had no taste and was dry. No kick or fire to clean the pallet. Waldrof salad was the biggest disappointment with 4 decided small leaves and was barely even a starter! For mains we went with the beef wellington to share , lamb chops and a chicken Kiev. The beef was good and tasty, although I wouldn't say 5 stars. The lamb chops were a little disappointing and didn't have much flavour. He chicken Kiev was undercooked to one half and had to be sent back and really didn't taste of much. They were good enought to. It charge for that. But then two courses at $330 and 3 courses at $380 Bajan dollars was a lot anyway and it just didn't feel worth it. We ordered two deserts, a raspberry cheesecake and a soufflé.l with Bailey's cream. Those were excellent. They did make us feel special and and bought a little anniversary dessert too. And then something to clean the pallet. Os all in all I would have given this place a 3.5 star at best overall. I think if they get the food right with a top chef then this place could be something special.

The food is packed with flavour and good value on the island. (Note it is closed until October. This is must do if you are over this way in Barbados. We went twice. First time was a walk in at lunch. From the beach. It was quiet and we were accommodated without any issues. The second time was an evening meal that coincided with sunset. Which is a must do if you get the chance. (Do book this time). We went twice which say it all. The food honestly is fantastic. So many options but the fish of the day was choice for me. It has a great drinks menu. The location/setting is superb, but you are on a sandy beach in the elements. So you might encounter flies but they have fly fans to help. So prepare for that. Lastly the staff are great, very attentive and helpful. This is my dream location to eat. I am so happy we discovered this place from a recommendation from our local taxi driver.

I said no I have not finished, she then asked me again so have you finished your drink, so I rather rudely and loudly said No I have NOT finished my drink....this upset my girl, because I was rude. So the waitress broke into our enjoyable conversation over an enjoyable meal in a very lovely setting by trying to take away a drink which I had not finished. Who trains these guys? Obviously not the management. My girl had our parking ticket and on the website.She said it said that the restaurant would validate our parking for 2 hours. But when she asked the waiter he told her that she had to pay the parking as we left the park. She asked again about validation of parking but he did not understand what she was talking about. We just decided to get out of the place then and there. I got the bill and of course there is a service fee of 12.5% and also another 2.5% fee for market food...?????? And while paying by card the waiter asked me if I wanted to make a tip payment. I quickly told him that I had already paid, without being asked a 12.5% service fee. He looked hurt and confused. This is a great place to go for the food, in our experience but not the service. I think one of my favourite cheap eats during our stay! We had a local fish and tuna with garlic bread and grilled breadfruit as sides. I would recommend getting fried breadfruit because I think just plain grilled without any sauce it’s a bit bland but that’s just my opinion of breadfruit not of this lovely street side restaurant! They had an offer on buying multiple beers too which was a good deal. We waited a while to get the food though because so many locals order for pick-up or take away!
