Active and friendly museum in one of the only Japanese buildings left in the city. The free outdoor park has interesting exhibits and is beautifully cultivated. The museum is well appointed for a small City and they have several rotating exhibits to match the seasons. What a gem just couple of steps from my office in Yuzno Sahalinsk! It was 3rd of November and there was the special event that I, using my "perfect" Russian, deciphered as "night of art". Aside the special events that were happening there just that night, it is amazing how much different topics they fitted in relatively small place. History of island Sahalin from early ages to now, nature, culture, trade, people.. It would be shame to stay in Sahalin and not visit this place.

Worth a quick visit. Not was interesting to find out that the memorial is also for those Russian soldiers fallen in Afghanistan... and that Russia was invited to assist the Afghan government against the West... I am sure the Afghan government would not use the words invited to assist.

During summer, the place offers a good stroll with family - greens and monuments. During winter, the side of this location offers a great slope for sledging. Families with kids love it!

We loved going up with the cablecar - it is beautiful from the top with a lovely view over the city - and nice spots for photographs. The weather was not very good, but we still loved the experience. At the top there is a very nice restaurant, where we ate a Korean delicacy and had tea - realy a lovely atmosphere. We again took the cable car down the mountain and loved watching so many people skiing and snowboarding! Would recommend this to every visitor of Sakhalin island.

Great ski resort very close to the center of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk town. However, English speaking services, just like in the rest of Russia, are lacking. There is a Russian cafe on the top station selling typical Russian snacks and drinks (no English menu or English-speaking staff).

We came by for lunch looking for Korean food. Food was alright - we ordered bibimbap, haemultang and some rolls (yes they do Japanese too and some western food). Been here once before for the bar and the scene can get quite happening here. Setting is more bar like than restaurant.

It's enough for Monday dinners or some business meetings . Rarely nice Friday evenings . One of four bartenders is really cool, couple of waiters is highly qualify but not more. Mainly common canteen ...

One of the best bars in town and they also have karaoke which is very nice. We always go with my buddies here on weekends👍

This is the place for Pizzas! A fast food pizza chain in town. This one has a playroom to keep the little ones busy. The pizza menu is great with a number of sides for selection.

Boy was this place packed! A colleague and I visited after trying other Japanese restaurants. While the menu was not as extensive as other restaurants but the flavors were excellent! We ordered a prawn and octopus salad, a ramen, flamed salmon roll, kohada sushi, spicy unagi sushi and sake + hamachi sashimi. Make sure reservations are made prior to turning up for dinner! Good English was spoken by our wait staff.

Good restaurant with Korean and Japanese cuisine. Went on multiple occasions. Place is always busy and Service is usually slow. Average cooking time is 10 min for sushi and 30-40 for mains.

Hard to get into. Book in advance or if you just pop up - speak English, there is higher chance to get seated if you are expat. Food and service is great. Interior is not (looks a bit ran down, sushi belt doesn't work, lighting is blue-ish and irritating). Not the most child-friendly place in town. But we've been super lucky with waiters every time we ate there. They seem to be the most customer-centric people there. And one of the best-in-town places for 🍣.

Service is good, but quality of food is bad, they didn't remove fat from beef properly, i will no recommend it.

Went for dinner on a weekday with family. Place was packed. The unagi don, chicken salad and ramen yaki soba was good. Staff was responsive. Ambience was ok. Suki yaki nabe was ok. The green tea at the table taste bit weird.

Really one of the best restaurant of that city. It keep staying on tops for many years(10 years already my favorite place) Fresh and tasty food. Like it!

For my taste, Arlequín has the best pizzas at Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. They offer different sizes and options for pizzas. The restaurant is small (8 to 10 tables). They accept cash and credit/debit cards and orders can be delivered or for take out.

Excellent Korean restaurant in Yuzhno. We had the bbq option and was happy with galbi, samgyeopsal and seafood. Service was alright but with lack of English it was a bit of a challenge. Must visit!

We were there once and aren't gonna more times . Poor service quality , higher prices, small dishes and ONLY Korean cuisine . They don't serve tea in pots -just cups. But however, design of the restaurant is great. Simple and unique.

Good selection of Korean dishes the one ordered included pork which was on the greasy gritty side. Other people's dishes looked pretty tasty, nice atmosphere, rasonably priced, I would eat here again.
