Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant La Bouitte, located in the hamlet of Saint Marcel, is a must-visit for food enthusiasts and locals in the 3 Valleys area. Despite its name meaning 'little house' in Savoyard dialect, this restaurant offers refined and artfully crafted interpretations of local traditions. Run by the self-taught father and son team Rene and Maxime Meilleur, La Bouitte has earned three Michelin stars for its exceptional cuisine.
This restaurant is really exceptional. All our dishes were wonderful, great culinary skills and creativity. We had such friendly service. Michelin guide, this is at least 3 star cooking.Thank you to all the team at La Bouitte for your hard work in making such a memorable meal.

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. 1. We stayed at the hotel during the Christmas period. I had a table reserved for the 24th at 13:30. we arrived on time and we wanted to taste the 8 course menu. We were told that it is late and we can only have the 5 course menu. Why? No one told us before that we need to be there earlier in order to taste the full menu. 2. we had wild rabbit and my wife almost broke her teeth from 2 small shots which apparently killed the animal and were not removed. We told a service staff and he said he will inform the kitchen. Later the chef came to our table and he was standing there without an apology. I don’t know really what he wanted. Congratulations? 3 my wife wanted to use the bathroom in between the courses. She was told from the service that she has only 1 minute because the next course is arriving. I mean seriously? Every tavern will wait to bring the food if you need to use the bathroom. And finally, we have been to multiple Michelin restaurants, if you told me that this is a 1 star restaurant I would be fine. I’m missing the extraordinary that I was finding in other 2 or 3 star restaurants.

Why restaurants get three Michelin stars, this restaurant explains why? In the middle of best part of French Alps there are many restaurants maybe as good as this one..but this place 9 KMS from val Thorens, France is highly commendable for taste, service, local sourcing of ingredients and menu orientation. Every bite stands out for its individuality of its flavour and sequence of serving enhances the lasting flavours. English speaking staff adds to the understanding of recipes and main chef coming out and saying hello to all guests is icing on the cake. Special thanks to the chef for introducing us to such lovely food in our life, which we can cherish for many more years to come and best of all was staff. Lovely service, thank you too.

What an experience! Visited this beautiful place in March 2020 during our skiing trip to Val Thorens. Because of the heavy snowfall these days we decided to book this restaurant. It was a fairytale from the moment we stepped inside. Such a beautiful and original place to serve outstanding dishes. Throughout the menu there were some local cheeses they worked with. It was very nice to taste something local at a very high level. Also the bread that came along the dishes was very nice. The photos speak for themselves, it was superb. Thank you very much for this experience, two years later we still talk about this. I hope to see you in the future!

20th in my 3 stars challenge in France (follow me for the other reviews and updates) The Auberge. The family French Alps Inn. It’s a three stars, so the usual question is : What’s extraordinary? What’s the story it’s telling us? Today, I’ll focus only on two points. Especially here, because I’ve been thinking of this restaurant for months now. The first point revolves around the focus on the client that reaches a incredible level. I’ll start by telling you one of my biggest regrets in my 3 stars tour in the south. I said no to the cheese chariot. I do regret this to this day. Learn from my mistakes, please. I took some pictures from afar. It’s the best cheese chariot I’ve seen in all my three stars. To a point that when I met the chef, Maxime Meilleur, I mentioned it, and that most of the 3 stars reduced or even suppressed it due to a lack of success. He told me that it was not viable economically, but he couldn’t do otherwise than offering the best cheese selection to his clients. And that’s my point. He’s focusing primarily on the client. I’ll just give a second example. I took the same menu than a table not far from me. Quickly I noticed that we didn’t have the same dishes. Intrigued I mentioned it to the chef. He explained me that every menu is tailored made to each client using a library of recipes. I won’t begin to tell you how complex it is to put this in practice in the kitchens (although I just did…). The result? The most incredible returning rate I’ve ever heard in any three stars. Still I had to admit to myself. I’ll be one of them, I also will return. I will return for the next point, “L’Esprit d Auberge“. This subject is partly the reason why I’m posting so late. It took me time to wrap my head around this. What’s going on here that’s so enticing? Food wise, to make it short, he respects the past but defends the future. You’ll have regional ingredients , cultural and even traditional elements. One simple example is the fact that you can do a “bread pairing “ - matching the right bread for every dish, like you do for the wine. On the other side (at least) the son, Maxime, being very humble about his expertise, explores a lot of other Michelin. Aside from the fact that I appreciated being able to share experiences, it shows in his cuisine. It’s in tune with the other Michelin, especially with the smart play with acidity. So don’t expect a cuisine completely turned to the past and very traditional. No, it does respect it’s culture, its past but it does use it to defend the future of gastronomy (very close to Lallement in that sense, or even Couillon). And I m getting to my main point, the father and the son are telling a story here, hands in hands, a story about the region, its culture, its people. But being in a family Inn, at one point in the evening, the lines blur and you realize that they just don’t tell a story, they live their family history, and that for one moment, you feel more than a spectator, you fell that you had the privilege of having a tiny part in a bigger story. Their story. That’s “L esprit d Auberge” A top tiers three stars. Somewhere you want to go back, simply to say “Thanks”

France Father René and son Maxime bear a wonderfully apt surname meaning "best". Theirs is an exceptional partnership, a combination of yin and yang that gives expression to the character of the mountain terroir and their own culinary passion. On the yin side, scrupulous attention to produce, such as the herbs and berries that René picks every day. On the yang side, Maxime's energy and inspiration. The result is a cuisine that is "intelligent but intelligible". This is truly a family affair, as mother, daughter, daughter-in-law and son-in-law run the whole operation. Last but not least, in an adjoining chalet, guestrooms and suites done out in the latest in mountain chic await you. Michelin Stars vs. Unprofessional Approach Very unprofessional communication lacking the empathy and customer-based behavior. Credit card details including the ccv number requested on the phone upfront as a condition for the table booking confirmation. We have experienced other three stars Michelin restaurants but never such bad and poor and arrogant approach of the staff. Based on our recent experience we cannot recommend La Bouitte restaurant at all.

It's the best place to ski/snowboard, based on that it's a 5 star location. You cannot beat Meribel and The Three Valleys. Note: Not for budget conscious, with prices at the upper end, especially food. Saying that, the food in every restaurant was outstanding.

Incredible place, beautiful, absolutely stunning. There are all kinds of facilities and lanes (from beginners to experts). The ville is great and there are a lot of stores. In the station you could find expensive and quite cheap restaurants. Prices to enter to the ski lanes are normal. Totally recommend

Great skiing resort. Excellent choice for any level. Easy transport links. Cute little village with shops/restaurants. Also great for children. Offers various ski schools. Easy to get to the top with a selection of skilifts, cable cars etc. Long slopes with well marked directions. Fun centres throughout. Good for beginners too. Beautiful scenery. Would definitely recommend

Val Thorens is a ski resort located in Europe, established in 1971. It sits at the highest altitude and offers top-notch ski slopes, terrain parks and modern lifts. The town is considered as the hub of skiing in Europe, with a variety of ski runs that cater to different preferences. Visitors can choose their speed, turns and scenic view before hopping on one of the high-tech lifts available.
This ski resort had so much to enjoy from a skiing perspective and a general good time. There are lots of different runs, ski schools and places to eat on the beautiful mountains. I was unlucky enough to require medical assistance but even that didn’t disappoint, everyone was super great and very friendly.

Amazing ski destination – whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it here! From easy, chill slopes to wild, uneven runs. The views of the surrounding mountains are absolutely stunning, and the snow conditions are excellent. I did miss having more trees around, as the landscape is very open and a bit desolate – though some people might actually prefer that. If you’re into partying, the town has some great spots – especially if you’re Danish! Just head to Café Snesko – you’re going to love it.

A very good ski resort. From beginners to advanced skiers, you can find good trails that will suit you. Also a very nice apres ski. Lots of hotels offers ski-in ski-out. Val thorens offers ski options when other ski resorts are already closed for the season.
Sigal S — Google review
Val Thorens has a great vibe, there are lots of amazing hotels and bars/restaurants. Shopping is easy with lots of convenience stores and also lots of specialist winter sports stores for all your skiing and snowboarding needs; though be prepared to pay a small (5-10% in my experience) resort premium on purchases here versus high street prices. Internet shopping is clearly the best option before arriving to make sure you get the best prices on equipment. Aside from the great bars and eateries, Val Thorens also has one or two slopes that you can ski and board on. Being a part of 3 Valleys it's a part of the largest ski resort in the world with hundreds of kilometers of groomed slopes. I love the ease of navigating around the resort using the many many lifts. There are runs for all levels, though if you're a complete beginner you may lack variety as there are relatively few green runs compared to other resorts. That being said, there are plenty of blues that are very manageable for beginners. Being at altitude I've found the snow quality and quantity to be better than other resorts in the area, including the 3 Valleys resorts of Courchevel and Meribel. Being lower they can often suffer with either slushy or icy conditions much more so that Val Thorens seems to. Final observation is that Val Thorens is an all ages resort. It doesn't matter if you're a family, young, old, or anywhere in between, Val Thorens has something for everyone, and all coexist peacefully.

The Perfect Destination for Skiing and Relaxation I recently visited this mountain, and I can confidently say it’s a paradise for ski and nature lovers! The area boasts an impressive number of ski slopes, suitable for all levels – from beginners to advanced skiers. The slopes are wide, well-maintained, and offer a safe skiing experience, making every moment on the mountain truly enjoyable. They are impeccably groomed daily, and the snow quality is excellent, no matter the weather. Beyond the slopes, the resort features cozy relaxation areas. The comfortable cabins, cafés with breathtaking views, and heated terraces provide the perfect spot to unwind between ski sessions. Whether you’re passionate about winter sports or just looking for a peaceful retreat in nature, this destination offers the perfect combination of adventure and relaxation. I highly recommend it!

Val Thorens – Where the mountains are majestic and the buildings… aren’t Let’s be honest: Val Thorens is like dating someone with a stunning personality and a questionable wardrobe. The mountains? Absolutely breathtaking. Snow-draped peaks, endless ski runs, and views that make you forget your Wi-Fi password. Nature here is working overtime. And then… there’s the village. The buildings? Imagine 1970s concrete met a ski resort brochure and said, “Let’s do brutalism, but make it beige.” It’s like someone tried to stack shoeboxes in a snowstorm and called it urban planning. Charming? Not exactly. Functional? Sure. Photogenic? Only if you crop aggressively. But hey – you’re not here for the architecture. You’re here to ski, après-ski, and maybe pretend you’re in a Bond film while sipping overpriced vin chaud. And for that, Val Thorens delivers. Just don’t look too hard at the hotel façade on your way down the slope.
Steve M — Google review
Great skiing area. Really enjoyed it. Not pretty in the villages but well makes up for that with the slopes.

At 2350m, snow is not yet an issue. The station is geared towards skiing and cater mainly to an international clientele. British and Dutch mainly. It has the trappings of a small French town with fresh breads, some cafes for drinks and meals but remains a very touristic area. Perfect for skiing. Going to the piste is relatively easy.

Les 3 Vallées is a renowned ski area consisting of three valleys with a total of 169 lifts, numerous lodges, and restaurants. Private ski lessons can be arranged through the ESF ski school. Accommodations in the area cater to various budgets and group sizes. The expansive ski area offers around 600km of diverse tracks with minimal wait times at the lifts. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views and excellent dining options, although prices may be on the higher side.
My favorite European skiing! After traveling to many different resorts across the alps, I think I can certainly say that the three valleys is the best of every world. It is certainly big enough to not get bored at even if you’re there for a week with tons of different areas of the mountain that you feel like you have to yourself. The views are also incredible! I would highly recommend.

Beautiful Slopes. Easy access to lifts and the town from the slopes. Honestly breathtaking views from the top, great for improvers, with a mixture of easy and harder slopes. Make sure you have Half board or a fat wallet for food.

It was my first time skiing after a few years and I’ve never had quite an experience like this one. If you are a first timer in this type of huge ski resorts you are going to feel amazed by both the size and the services they provide. I stayed there for a week and I would’ve stayed for a month. In my case VT. The offer really good connections between the three valleys and really different types of slope whether you’re a beginner or a pro. You’ll definitely have a nice time both during the day and at the apre ski.
Álvaro — Google review
It's very hard to criticise the 3 valleys ski area. It's huge, varied, quite stunning and very well run. At busy times the queues can get long, especially down in Meribel which is the middle of the the valleys. But the lift system copes pretty well, and of course nowhere else is immune to such issues. Well worth a visit at least once in your skiing career.

A Skier’s Paradise Les 3 Vallées is simply phenomenal. With an extensive network of long, beautifully groomed slopes, it offers an unparalleled skiing experience. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, you'll find runs that cater to every skill level, all while enjoying breathtaking alpine scenery. The infrastructure is top-notch, ensuring smooth connections between resorts and minimal waiting times. The snow conditions are excellent, and the variety of terrain keeps every day exciting. Honestly, only truly evil people could say anything bad about this ski resort. If you love skiing, Les 3 Vallées is a must-visit destination!

The best large, linked-up, ski area in France. VT is high so it guarantees good snow throughout a extended ski season. Great bars, restaurants, and other facilities. Very family friendly resort for skiing and other activities. Been many times as a uni student and now a parent, will be back again for sure

I was recommended to come here with family friends for lunch and was told food was amazing. The restaurant it self is beautiful and very pretty decor. Service was great and the lady serving us was very kind and friendly. The food was very poor, started with what said scallops on the menu but ended up being a single scallop that was cut up in to multiple slices. The presentation was beautiful but was very bland, sparkling white wine broth was incredibly bleak with a few shaved pieces of apple on top, scallop texture was good but for a single scallop for €27 was mind blowing. My friend has the organic egg with crusty ham and cream sauce but we tried it and tasted like mushy weetabix breakfast with 0 flavour and awful texture (again all dishes looked beautiful) Maincourse I had todays fish rissoto with fennel emulsion and kumquat condiment which again if you look at picture was incredibly dry, very subtle fennel flavour and 0 flavour in everything else. Fish was fairly overcooked and started to curl around edges. Overall left quite hungry and a little disappointed, spoke to friends who shared the same opinion. Total bill came to just under €700 and was incredibly over priced.

Le Corbeleys is a charming family-run restaurant that has been serving home-cooked Savoyard favorites for three generations. The menu features delicious winter sports fuel, including croziflettes and goats cheese quiche. Another notable dining option is the new Au Chaudron Saint Martin, known for its beef and veal casseroles and panoramic terrace. La Ferme de la Choumette offers solid grilled meat dishes and a chance to see animals in the adjoining barn.

I had the ravioli dish with reblochon. A solid mass of over cooked pasta with semi melted reblochon on top. It was stodgy, tasteless and the only reason I ate it was to get some energy for the rest of the day. The service was friendly but so slow! Food reports from the rest of the group were poor as well. I rarely venture toward St Martin as it's pretty dull from a skiing perspective - this won't encourage me to return.

Food was great and friendly staff. Went with our instructor and really enjoyed local foods!

Nice view. Mid mountain. Need to book but we were lucky to find a free table. Old bloke was a little rude but it is the way. We enjoyed ourselves.

French restaurant
Restaurant Chez Pépé Nicolas in Val Thorens is a charming hillside farmhouse offering a unique dining experience. The restaurant boasts friendly staff, a beautiful terrace with stunning views, and quirky decor. It is known for its fabulous local food, including traditional Savoyard specialties like tartiflette and local meat and cheese boards. The menu goes beyond the usual offerings with dishes made from produce sourced from the kitchen garden or local producers.
Came for on our son birthday. Really pleasant dining experience and restaurant is easy to get to with shuttle at Cairn/Caron gondola. Food and services were on the dot. One of the best we have past few days. Wished we have more time at the boutique to enjoy the view. We started at 1330 and had to leave after lunch at 1500 to make sure we are in time to get back to Val Thorens

Fantastic restaurant with a really friendly staff. The cheese platter was very good especially the cheese they make themselves. The bone marrow was delicious. But the star of the show was the main course which was the veal chop for me. Definitely recommended! They are located on the Chasse piste in Val Thorens.

Exceptional place with all the food served from local products (they have their own orchard). Super nice decoration. And the food is the best of the place. Super kind staff that help you choose what is best for you, specially Marion who patiently help us to choose and told us about the story of the place in perfect english!!

Very welcoming and nice staff offering good service. Food is made with love and care. Been here twice in one week. Make sure to book a table in advance. The atmosphere is magical.

Gorgeous place! Great climate and fantastic food. We tried starters such as crispy snails - super tasty but the mustard ice cream was something absolutely unique and mindblowing. The veal, goat fondue - everything stunning. At the end homemade - ice cream degustation - just perfect evening.

A great place when you're hiking in the mountains. Restaurant on the farm. There is a farm shop, you can look at the animals. Very tasty. And good service.

Amazing place to eat when skiing. Our only problem was that the service was really slow. It took us almost two hours to eat. The burgers were really good. It is great to have quality food on the mountain. The dessert was a little weird and didn’t enjoy it as much. It would be better if they offered normal desserts.

Excellent lunch at the beautiful Chez Pepe. Delicious food, fast service by engaging and friendly staff. Fabulous location. A unique restaurant with a fabulous shop where you can buy the farm produced cheese and yogurt and lovely mountain gifts. Highly recommend a visit., both summer and winter.

Restaurant
La Ferme de La Choumette, located above Saint Martin in Savoie, offers a delightful dining experience with its focus on grilled meat dishes and the charming farm animals that kids love to visit. The restaurant is part of a working farm and provides a picturesque setting for enjoying traditional French cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients. With its solid selection of grilled meats, this establishment is known for offering a family-friendly atmosphere and an authentic taste of the region's culinary delights.
We had a great dinner at La Ferme de La Choumette. The beef ribs were amazing! Friendly and efficient staff! We were celebrating a birthday and they gave us a complimentary shot to celebrate. They also served and beautifully presented a birthday cake that we had brought along. The owner dropped us back into town after the meal. Would highly recommend and visit again!

More of an overpriced tourist trap than an authentic farm dinner. The farm is beautiful with a view on the village and its nice to see the animals. However the dinner was pretty awful. The dinner table are way too close together and it's hard to get out of your seat and it's hard to have conversations. They also made our group and another one change table mid dinner to accommodate for other more people coming (we had reserved our table 4 days prior). The tommiflete dish came cold and I had to take it back myself as the unorganized staff will forget to help and have drinks at the bar. Wine wasn't served before we were done with the main plate. I would be ok with that experience as a farm dinner if the pricing was consistent with it. But everything is way overpriced to take the most out of wealthy tourist. Up to the ridiculously small ice cream ball for 3€50 or two for 5€50... Its not worth this rating as a restaurant .

My family had a terrible evening at this restaurant. It looked lovely but completely failed to live up to expectation. The rude, belligerent waiting staff made us move table then took ages to get us even a drink and the food took over an hour to arrive . Even then they got the orders wrong . Avoid as there are many much better ( cost and food) and friendlier restaurants in the area .

La Ferme de La Choumette in the Alps is a culinary gem introduced to us by our knowledgeable ski guide, making it a remarkable find. The combination of exquisite food, fine wine, and a captivating atmosphere creates an immersive farm dining experience. The unique charm of sitting at a table with a "front-row" view of cows and sheep adds an unforgettable touch. Every dish was a delight, complemented by attentive service that enhanced the overall enjoyment. A truly exceptional culinary journey in the heart of the Alps.

An absolute gem of a restaurant! We were gutted to only find it on the last day of our stay in the 3 valleys. As far as 3 valley prices go, this was exceptionally reasonable for beautiful food and wine. What was more, the glass large windows inside looking over the barn kept animals was such a different touch. Something worth seeing and definitely worth eating here! We will be back next season!

Hidden gem of a restaurant. Our ski guide brought us to this place. Authentic experience, this is the farm and you can see animals on the back of a restaurant. The food was good, but my soup was lukewarm. I tried my friend's dish and it was very tasty. I suggest to read French menu because english translation may not be complete. I would love to come back.

Would give higher stars if it was possible. The food was amazing and they even picked us up from the village and dropped us off after. The restaurant is great, especially for kids as it is on a farm and you can see the animals. We ate at four different restaurants in St Martin while here and this was our favourite. Just sad we went on our last night so we can't go back.

Fantastic food, atmosphere and friendly staff. Traditional French style in a farm where you can see the animals. Highly recommend a visit and suggest the slow cooked lamb shank or lamb chops *I'm sure everything else is delicious. Be aware that the drive up from St Martin could be tricky if not in a 4x4 when it has snowed, but easily walkable.
