Fortress
Nestled in the charming town of Piombino, the Torrione e Rivellino stand as remarkable testaments to the city's rich history. The Torrione, constructed in 1200, serves as a striking reminder of Piombino's communal past and is the oldest monument still standing today. Adjacent to it is the Rivellino, a formidable semicircular structure added in 1447 by Rinaldo Orsini to enhance its defenses against artillery.

Nestled within the historic Palazzo della Corte, the Museo Archeologico del Territorio di Populonia offers a captivating glimpse into the rich archaeological heritage of the Etruscan coast. With over 2,000 exhibits showcasing local history, including pottery and stone artifacts, this museum is intricately linked to the nearby Parco Archeologico di Baratti e Populonia. Visitors can explore how ancient civilizations utilized their environment and resources, particularly minerals.
Ticket for us was 6€ each, we learned a lot, and the lady that took us around was great and took us all to the centre as well.

Very nice smaller museum. Lovely exhibit on local history over a very long period, that is presented chronologically, which is nicely done. The silver wine jug (not doing it justice) is what I would considder the top piece and very striking. Other nice pieces include armor, daily used objects and burial pieces. Most certainly worth the +/- 7 euros.

Quite some history. A small but decent museum.
Dawid C — Google review
An absolute jem of a museum. Lots of local finds from nearby excavations and ship wrecks. Etruscan, Roman and Byzantine artifacts. We had a guided tour, included in the orientation, for the 2 of us. Absolutely amazing. Loved it here. 5€ each was an absolute bargain. Thanks. I will come back and do the sites next time but were short on time.

(Translated by Google) 🏖️ Spiaggia Lunga – Calamoresca, Piombino A charming and wilder corner of the coast, less crowded than nearby Calamoresca. Reaching it requires a short hike along the coastal paths, but the effort is worth it: the water is clear, the surrounding nature is lush, and silence reigns supreme. The beach is made up of pebbles and rocks, so it's recommended to bring water shoes. There are no services or facilities: just the sea, the scent of Mediterranean scrub, and a simple, authentic beauty. Ideal for those seeking tranquility, immersion in nature, and a dip away from mass tourism. Experience it with respect, as it is one of the purest stretches of the Piombino coast.

Castle
Monument
Castello di Piombino is a historic military fortress located in the city of Piombino, originally constructed by the Pisans in the 13th century. It served as a defensive structure and marked the city's boundary, featuring a solid cubic mass. The castle was later modified by Leonardo da Vinci during his reorganization of the city's defenses. While access to some areas like terraces and towers may be limited, visitors can explore permanent exhibitions showcasing medieval ceramics and contemporary art.

The Taverna Dei Boncompagni in Piombino is an exceptional seafood restaurant that stands out among the many restaurants in the area. With a charming atmosphere and attentive owner, Simone, this establishment offers a remarkable dining experience. Despite not being typically fond of seafood, the food served here is truly amazing. The selection of courses is exquisite, and Simone's expertise in choosing the perfect wine to complement each dish adds to the overall enjoyment.
Every time we visit this place it’s a new experience for us. Tasty food, cosy atmosphere, amazing and lovely service. We will be back soon. Grazie mille.

Delicious food, amazing food. Really good quality fresh fish, you won’t get disappointed! We had an amazing dinner over there and we will definitely go back.
Paulina K — Google review
This restaurant looks very fancy and exclusive but dishes are far away from good or very good tast. From 3 dishes two were wrong. My spagetti should be with sea food, I got trufles with tomato sauce, it was very salty! Second pasta was also very salty. Only risotto with sea food was good. On plus was free apetizers. Price was rather high.
Arkadiusz K — Google review
We were there it was full inside but had space outside. The service was really good and we received some amuse-bouche from the chef. The house wine was great and the main dishes aswell.
Gion W — Google review
Fine dining at its best. The owner/staff speaking good english made a huge difference compared to all other restaurants in Piombino. The aged fish was culinari highlight.

We were very excited about this place , but unfortunately it wasn’t that great. My husband didn’t even eat the pasta , because it wasn’t good. We also got lectured by owner multiple times about our bad taste. I’m sorry, I come here not listen to your lecture about how ignorant we Americans are , I came to have a good time and enjoy my meal. If you still give this place a try just don’t get seafood linguini, not good

The intimate and cozy Osteria da Mamma Carla offers a delectable variety of locally sourced recipes and wines. Known for their exceptional food, this eatery provides several options for rare steak, impressively presented and cooked to perfection. The knowledgeable staff adds to the overall experience with their expertise on the different offerings. The value for money is evident as one steak can easily satisfy two people. Situated in a convenient location, this place is highly recommended.
Wow! We had a wonderful lunch here. I won’t bother recommending any particular dish because they all looked good. The staff are welcoming and attentive. There is also an internal garden with table service but we ate at one of the tables on the quiet street. Opposite the restaurant they have a small shop selling local food and wine. Bellissima!

The food is excellent. We already were quite a few times here, because everything was just fine, the staff kind … Furthermore, they are very informed about handling with a gluten free diet. I even get a piece of gluten free bread from “Schär” everytime I am having my dinner there.

After a 2 hour drive from Montepulciano, the super tasty lunch here is just what we need. Rosy our waitress served us well, with patience as we struggled with Google translation. Grill Tuna and Cacciucco wonderfully cooked. Piombino, we'll see you again ...

Lovely cosy restaurant, good menu & very good quality seafood that tasted home-made. Service is friendly & very efficient, even though it was busy. Unfortunately I forgot to take photos of food, trust me is delicious😛 it’s near this tower in my photos and it’s in the Centre of town so very easy to get to.
Gabriella F — Google review
Food was ok though not outstanding and plating could be nicer. They use large plates and just dump it on there and it looks a bit lost on the big plate. Disappointing was the green salad which is just iceberg lettuce which is really bland and tasteless. Also children dish for a two year old was adult price… Service was indifferent and owner didn’t care to ask about the food when I paid inside or gave a bye bye. Not coming back, too many better options in Piombino.

Ristorante Il Tiramestoli Di Vannini Stefano offers delectable cuisine and fine wine. This establishment has a commendable reputation, with patrons enjoying their meals without prior reservations. While waiting for a table to become available, guests are treated to complimentary beverages and snacks. The restaurant specializes in seafood dishes, making it an ideal choice for those seeking fish-based options. Suitable for both couples and small groups, this eatery provides an exceptional dining experience at reasonable prices.
Amazing experience at this place run by a lovely family. The seafood we had was very fresh and beautifully cooked. The home-made cakes we had for dessert were arguably the best we’ve tried in Tuscany.

Very tasty food and wine. The stuff in the restaurant is great, we didn't book the place, but we decided to wait until some table will be free, in this waiting time we got 2 glasses of wine and some chips for free. Restaurant specializes on sea food,so it's a good idea to order something from the fish dishes. The place suits to pair or to small company.

Ristorante Il Garibaldi Innamorato is a charming trattoria that offers an array of Tuscan seafood antipasti, pasta, and fish dishes. It is known for its unpretentious atmosphere and regional wines. The restaurant's specialty lies in its delectable seafood-based starters and the famous 'zuppa corsa' dish, which is best enjoyed during autumn or winter. The menu also caters to meat lovers with various options available.

Definitely the best seafood restaurant in Piombino! Highly recommended, you won’t regret. Authentic atmosphere, service and food & wine selection. Thank you for this great experience 🤗
Ioana H — Google review
I entered alone, and the owner definitely wanted to seat me in a more undesirable location. Since it was empty, I asked to sit somewhere else. If you want to order your own dishes, this is not the place for you! I am very flexible and this restaurant was recommended by a local. I love fish and all the dishes were excellent. She basically forced me to have the antipasti and the pasta. But mainly I think it's because I can't speak Italian and her English was limited. The wine by the glass only had one choice which this I found odd given the price point of the food. That said, my meal was really fabulous. It had octopus, shark, salted fish and a delicious local white fish. I had the pasta, ragu di carna.
Mia M — Google review
Sure, the fish was fresh and the setting was alright, but jesus—that was the worst service I’ve received in years. We went there very excited after looking at the reviews on here, but the experience was nowhere near commensurate. We ordered the 8 antipasti. They were all fresh, but very bland—case in point being the cod, which was just thrown on a plate with two tablespoons of mayonaise on top. We left after that. Take your money elsewhere.
David B — Google review
Lovely little restaurant. Fresh food depending on the catch of the day. The staff is really sweet and helpful too.
Aaron C — Google review
The food is pretty good and the staff is mostly super nice but there’s a young waiter who is extremely impolite. Treats you very bad and almost throws the food on your table
Rosario B — Google review
Food was mid but the service and friendliness was top notch.

I liked the first dishes based upon fish. The most typical dish of this place is "zuppa corsa", but I suggest to to try it in autumn or winter, in a cold season. The starter is 8 different little tastes, based upon local fish. The Restaurant have a good selection of champagne, but I recommend to try local wines. They are very alcoholic, right for the food of this restaurant.

The Ristorante Calamoresca Beach boasts an ideal location with a stunning view of the beach. However, some patrons noted that the service was lacking attention to detail and a few items were forgotten. In one instance, the lettuce in a salad was past its prime, but the staff promptly replaced it. Despite these minor shortcomings, overall feedback suggests that this establishment offers an acceptable dining experience. The restaurant is known for being bustling and popular, serving uncomplicated yet satisfying dishes at reasonable prices.
Delicious food.. We’ll return for sure!!

2/10 Probably the worst meal I've ever had in restaurants. Not sure if it’s the ingredients, the preparation, or my personal taste, but I was seriously trying to hold back my gag reflex. That awful smell and mismatched ingredients, it was absolutely not for me. The service leaves much to be desired as well, at least they took back what we didn't finish without asking questions. And those annoying flies...
Chester — Google review
Location is perfect but service was a bit sloppy (forgot a few things). Also in one of the salads the lettuce was old but they changed it right away. Overall an okay lunch.

The service is horrible. Not polite at all. Only the man you can rent the beds from was kind. People working in the bar are horrible. The beach is beautiful, too bad for the beach visitors…

Had heard about the resaurant and decided to make a reservation. Reserved a table on their online reservation service, got a confirmation and a referancenumber. So one dark friday night in october, we made our way down to Calamoresca. There is no parking outside the restaurant, so it's a short walk downhill. In total darkness.....to a very closed restaurant! Trip advisor says it's open, the booking page says it's open, but it is closed. So how do we rate this restaurant? Not very well, I guess, juding from the way they handle their webinformation. Will we try again? Don't think so. Will we reccomend it to others? Certainly not!!
