Park
Nature & Parks
Caldecott Park, located in the heart of Rugby town center, is a beloved urban green space with a rich history dating back to 1903. This well-maintained park features beautiful floral displays, play areas for children, and a multi-use sports area. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls along manicured paths bordered by lush lawns and formal flowerbeds, as well as attend free community events such as art exhibitions and seasonal celebrations.
Excellent Park, well tended and with good tarmac paths that make wheelchairs much easier. Had a lovely walk in the sun and the shade and a drink in the cafe to finish.

Love this park! Super peaceful, lots of trees and shade, and a perfect spot to chill or read. There’s a nice walking path, and lots of flower all year around. Not too crowded, even on weekends.
Aleksandra L — Google review
This is a bonus in Rugby. There are toilets on the left as you enter. The kids play park is always busy and there's tennis courts at the other side of the park. So many beautiful trees of all ages on the easy pathway. The flowers are well kept and it's such a peaceful place if you want to hear the birds or just sit and take in the beauty of the place. There's even a small cafe but it seems the people dont want to leave there 😂 so it must have some good choices.
Smiler D — Google review
Such a "Beautiful" park. Very clean and tidy. The Grandchildren loved the BUTTERFLY TRAIL and of course the play area. Lots of seating around. No time to visit tea & coffee shop. Next time xx Ps: the history of the park is very interesting.

Just a beautiful oasis in Rugby. Visit it. Enjoy it and leave it tidy..so much work goes into it making it as beautiful as it is. And support Hatty Bakewells whilst you are there too!
Julie M — Google review
I love this park. Every time I visit I am impressed with how well it is maintained and looked after. Usually very little litter and always a lot of people visiting for different reasons. Parents with children visit the play areas and older kids play ball and socialise. The flowers are seasonal and the gardens carefully crafted. The lawns and hedges are well maintained and even the squirrels are happy. I like the statues as thry are all relevant to the history of Rugby.
Rob K — Google review
Caldecott Park seems to be a fantastic destination and luckily it's near the city center. I recently had the pleasure of visiting, and it left a lasting impression. The park's charm lies in its ability to offer an enjoyable walking experience throughout the year. Whether it's spring blossoms, summer picnics, autumn colors, or winter strolls, Caldecott Park is a cool place to be in any season.
Chioma O — Google review
Love visiting. Footpaths take you round the park, with a varied and relaxed view. Gardens are immaculate. The wooded areas display beautiful seasonal displays of snow drops, crocuses and daffodils. A refreshing and envigorating place to take a break. Plenty of benches and little nooks among the gardens and lawns to sit and read.

Art Museums
The Rugby Art Gallery and Museum is a vibrant cultural hub that invites visitors to explore the rich tapestry of Rugby's history while indulging in contemporary art. Opened in 2000, this purpose-built complex also houses the town library and the World Rugby Hall of Fame. Guests can marvel at fascinating artifacts from the nearby Romano-British site of Tripontium, including coins and pottery, or let their imaginations run wild by dressing up in Roman attire.
I made the journey to have a look at the current exhibition "Beyond the Canvas : A Celebration of British Sculpture " which runs until 7th June 2025. If you get the chance you should visit. It is a wonderful exhibition including works by Barbara Hepworth and Elizabeth Frink as well as canvasses by these two and Henry Moore. Its free too so there's no reason not to go and pay it a visit.

Great place to visit with children. Lots of interactive exhibitions, places for crafts, and children play area. It has far exceeded my expectations

Its a nice quiet and friendly pleasant place to look at the arts created, and to talk to nice staff, Kuds area is good for the children too.

Nice environment where it is not too cold and they have free wifi and a working space where you can do some work on their computers or on your own laptop.

Volunteering at a 'witches hat' making morning in half term. Good kit, reasonable plan, and the kids seemed to have a great time, producing their own hat. The three in the photos were made by children aged 3, 4 and 6 - pretty amazing !! It's a very small museum, but reasonably sized Gallery spaces, and the collection has some good stuff.
Jeremy J — Google review
A small free to enter museum adjacent to library. We have learnt that there was once a Roman village called Tripontium 4 miles from Rugby. **Local knowledge level up.🤗** For the size of the museum, it took us about 30minutes to view all the arts and displays. And this is us, taking our time. There are also space for crafts and drawings at the foyer.

We are fortunate to still have a theatre in Rugby, given recent economic backdrop. So good to see a live show, all the efforts of the cast, dancers, production and foyer staff. Cinderella was great fun for all the family.

We visited to watch Aladin and the performance was simply fantastic a mix of the traditional Aladin story with modern dance and music. You definitely must go to their pantomime next year.

The performance of Come From Away was beyond expectations. I have seen three professional performances (2 in the West End and 1 in Birmingham). I have also visited Gander and met Derm, the mayor of Appleton, featured in the musical. The performance was fabulous. Well done.

Great production of Cinderella, very funny, with plenty of auctions interaction. Nice touch being able to meet the cast in the bar afterwards.

Fantastic little theatre! Have been here a few times now to see different productions, and I'm so impressed. The Christmas Carol was amazing! The cast, the costumes, the staging, the specials effects, everything felt like something you would expect in West End! Highly recommend!

When planning a trip to Rugby, don't miss the chance to explore the Rugby School Shop, which is an integral part of this historic institution. Established in 1567, Rugby School is one of England's oldest independent schools and offers a fascinating glimpse into its storied past. The school grounds are home to stunning architecture designed by renowned Gothic Revival architect William Butterfield, including the chapel and Macready Theatre.
The family and I had a super time on the Rugby Tour. Our daughter is a pupil at the school and I would recommend it for parents too as it was very informative. So proud to have been a part of this terrific school for the last 4 years. It has really helped to make our daughter the wonderful lady she is today. A truly home from home experience where she has flourished as a Music Scholar. It certainly lives up to it's motto of "The whole person the whole point". We purchased a great book in the shop and our tour guide was super and very entertaining. I should have got her name but know she was a grandmother with red hair who looked fantastic. Thank you. You made our day! 😁
Frances S — Google review
This interesting and entertaining guided tour is 'a must' for all fans of rugby and history. From a look round the Museum tucked away, finding out about 'the island' and the story behind it, to stepping foot on The Close (admittedly I have been done that before many a time, but there is still something about it - rugby fans come from across the globe just to do that), to seeing the amazing Chapel and Memorial Chapel, the Quad and one of the historic classrooms; it all makes for two hours or so well-spent. Julie was the perfect tour guide being thoroughly engaging and entertaining, and she clearly loves what she does and has a passion for the School. Just quite how she remembers all that information (?) must take some doing...it all adds to the experience. Needless to say, a tour of Rugby School comes highly recommended.
Karl Q — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed the rugby school tour with our guide Julie. She was informative, extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and full of interesting stories and anecdotes. I brought my family and we all really enjoyed it. The school is incredible and full of history, and getting a chance to see the chapel, classroom and museum was fabulous. I highly recommend.

TOUR......the tour was very interesting and informative. Julie, our guide was lovely. She was kind, patient and considerate to all our needs. Would recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history of Rugby (the ciry) and the school. The shop was mainly for Rugby students, although there was a few items for the public to purchase.
Michelle H — Google review
I have bought a number of similar items from the Rugby School shop in 2017- mainly from the 450th Anniversary range. Each time my orders have been dealt with friendliness , courtesy and efficiency by the ladies there. As an O.R I have also been also able to reflect on past times in conversations over the telephone, and those have always brought back personal memories and feelings for the Almer Mater. Thank you ladies- Floreat Rugbeia !

Rugby Market is a bustling and vibrant indoor market located in the heart of Rugby, UK. The market offers a range of goods and services, including fresh produce, meat, fish, baked goods, clothing, and more. The market is well-designed and easy to navigate, with a variety of stalls offering a diverse range of products. The prices are reasonable, and the quality of the products is generally high. The market is also well-known for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with vendors often happy to chat with customers and provide recommendations. However, the market can become quite crowded during peak hours, which can make it difficult to navigate and lead to longer wait times at popular stalls. Additionally, some of the stalls may not accept card payments, so it is important to bring cash. Overall, Rugby Market is a great destination for those looking for a unique and authentic shopping experience in the heart of Rugby.

Rugby Market blink and youll miss it lol I vegetable stall a watch man replacing watch batteries a burger van and a jacket potatoes man the charity shop and the bottom of town was busier oh sorry I forgot to mention the man selling flowers I would strongly recommend the market if you don't want to spend any money
David C — Google review
A shadow of it's former self, since being crammed into the clock tower area. Which had a negative impact on people's attitudes to visiting the town centre. Sadly there's only a few stalls left selling not very much. It can be very crowded in the area on Market day as the market gets right in the way of anyone who wants to get by or visit other shops... Watch out for pickpocketers! There's a reasonably priced clothing stall which sells workwear that's probably the market's highlight.
Aaron S — Google review
Compared to the Rugby Market of Old there are very few stalls. However the ones in attendance do brisk business and there is a good selection of items on offer my favourites are. The gents clothing stall, The veg stall, and The watch repair/battery replacement stall All of which are great value and service is always with a smile and a bit of banta.

Mexican restaurant
La Casa Loco is a traditional Mexican and Cajun cuisine restaurant located in Rugby. It offers a laid-back atmosphere, making it perfect for casual dinners with friends or family. The restaurant features wood panelled decor and floral accents, creating a beautiful setting for enjoying delicious Mexican dishes and tapas. The menu includes plenty of gluten-free options and a children's menu with smaller portions from the main menu.
We went there for my birthday and also for the first time - LOVED IT!! The whole ambience was beautiful, the music, the decor, everything was very aesthetic and cosy! The sombreros round the place was cute and a fun touch. The food was lovely we really enjoy it and the cocktails too. My husband surprised me with a happy birthday tequila shot with the staff’s support which was really cute!! Definitely book in before going as it gets really busy and the wait time can be quite long. Overall, it’s a gem in Rugby!
Monika N — Google review
I came here with work for a colleagues leaving meal and was really impressed. The decor was spot on, it felt really authentic and was well thought out. Cleanliness was good, even the toilets. The food and drinks, were the star of the show. I had a 2 course set meal and opted for the Prawns starter in tequila sauce and the Ribs for the main. Prawns could do with more bread as there was a lot of sauce left over. The ribs portion is huge, was well cooked and fell off the bone. The cocktails that I had were really good. The service was fast and attentive and overall excellent value for money. Would recommend and return!

We dropped (walk/in) into this excellent local Rugby restaurant on a Thursday evening. The Mexican theme, menu and quality of the food was excellent, no complaints at all. Our server , Lucy was brilliant nothing was too hard for her, her winning smile and professionalism do her proud. A1 - La Casa Loco will be our first choice next time we are travelling through.

Family restaurant
Nestled along the picturesque banks of the Old Canal, Harvester Bell & Barge Rugby is a delightful family-friendly restaurant that offers a diverse menu featuring grilled meats, fresh salads, pasta, and seafood. This charming eatery is perfect for those looking to take a break during their canal-side stroll or simply enjoy the serene views while sipping on a refreshing drink in its spacious beer garden. The welcoming atmosphere is complemented by attentive staff who ensure every visit feels special.
5 Stars – Great Food and Friendly Service! I recently had a lovely meal at Harvester and left genuinely impressed. From the moment I walked in, the staff were friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for a casual bite. I ordered the Classic Chicken Burger, and it was absolutely delicious—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. The portion size was generous, and it came with perfectly cooked chips and a fresh helping from the salad bar, which is always a great bonus at Harvester. What stood out most was the value for money and the attentive service throughout the meal. Everything felt well looked after, from the food to the cleanliness of the restaurant. If you’re after a hearty, satisfying meal in a comfortable setting, Harvester is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be returning soon!
Tanya N — Google review
We had high hopes for our visit to Harvester in Rugby, but unfortunately, it fell short in several areas. The space where we were seated was uncomfortably cold we had to keep our jackets on throughout the meal, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the evening. Cleanliness was another issue. The table didn’t feel properly wiped down, the cutlery had visible stains. I ordered the ribeye steak, expecting something tender and flavorful, but it was incredibly chewy with almost no taste. For a dish that’s supposed to be a highlight, it was very underwhelming. Overall, it felt like attention to detail and basic comfort were missing. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend it based on this visit.

Visited yesterday with my partner after a shopping trip to Rugby centre, and we were pleasantly surprised! Impressed by this harvester as they are never normally bad nor are they out of this world. The B&B rugby however was far better than other harvesters I’ve been to and hence the 5* review. From the start it presented a very clean and friendly atmosphere from walking in the door, staff were friendly and welcoming and our table was ready. Service was excellent as was the food and with a birthday discount voucher so was the price (That said without one, it’s still not bad) The price below included drinks, starter and a main. Very happy and will be visiting again even though I am not local.

Breakfast, usual options available. Very tasty and well cooked. Dinner, varied menu from which we enjoyed our meals. Service here is very good. This has become a firm favourite for us.

Nestled just outside Rugby, The Old Lion is a contemporary gastropub that beautifully marries classic charm with modern flair. With its whitewashed walls and exposed brick accents, the ambiance is both inviting and stylish. This pub has evolved over time, shifting from a traditional country pub to a more restaurant-oriented space while still retaining its friendly vibe.
The Old Lion is a relatively new establishment that offers a refreshing excellent dining experience for all. Indian delights from À la carte to small plates & sharing platters options. They also offer plenty of 'pub favourites' such as fish & chips and burgers, even vegan options. Something to suit all. If you enjoy tasty authentic dishes and plentiful, one to try There's also a newly launched Saturday lunch buffet that was delicious and planned theme night -see pictures. Very good value for money indeed. Lovely decor & friendly attentive staff. What's not good to enjoy! You're welcome!

If I could give 6 stars I would!! Tried this little gem as it was near work & super impressed. The staff are very friendly & helpful, the atmosphere fun & relaxed & the food is absolutely amazing!! We had the mixed grill & shared a butter chicken & naan bread. I could have eaten twice it was so good!! By sharing, I had enough room for dessert & I went for the passion fruit cheesecake with raspberry sorbet which was to die for. I did try a bit of the chocolaty dessert with caramel ice cream which was rich but not sickly. Absolutely recommended & will definitely be going back. Also had a glass of wine; nice complimentary flavours & a good selection. I think this might become my new local

Went here for Sunday lunch. The pork steak and spiced roast chicken plus cauliflower cheese followed by a sticky toffee pudding to share. The pub is nice and everyone there seemed to be enjoying it. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't 'perfect'. The roast potatoes could have been crisper and the pork a bit more moist. However, it was bloody tasty. I don't think I came up for air whilst shovelling the food down. The gravy was fantastic and the cauliflower cheese great. The chicken was huge with a hint of Indian spices, but just that, a hint. It was lovely. The sticky toffee pudding with ice cream was perfect. That didn't last long either. They also serve Indian food for lunch too and the portions and quality looked great. A few people had that for lunch and it seemed to go down well. 👌👌👌

We had lovely midweek dinner with family. The team were very welcoming and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. All of the food was delicious but I had the cod cooked in a banana leaf from the small plates section. I have previously been to Kerala and I've never eaten Indian food in Britain that tasted as authentic as that, it was absolutely delicious. Can't wait to come back soon.

We have eaten at CVC many times and always had a 5 star experience with them. Last month we chose to have our wedding with them and if I could give them more than 5 stars I would. The coordinators were there for me every step of the way, all the staff were so kind, friendly and helpful. The chefs are incredibly talented. The bar staff make beautiful drinks. Everyone just bent over backwards to make sure we had the most amazing, completely personalised day! Every single one of my guests said how impressed they were with the food (and some of them are hard to impress) Can’t thank them enough for such a special day. Highly recommend for meals out and events.

Absolutely fantastic dog friendly pub! Super friendly and professional staff. Excellent value for money on tasty food, especially on the steak ciabatta! I came in yesterday with my mum for an early birthday meal for her, it was her choice to come here, so I decided to treat her. We were impressed with the decor, and what an amazing bar display! We sat down and had a look through the menu, I decided to break my streak for Veganuary as it's mums birthday treat so I had the hunters chicken which was delicious, and mum had a steak with a diane sauce which she enjoyed. The price for the whole meal and 2 drinks wasn't too bad either. We both wondered what it was like to come on an evening as the atmosphere at lunchtime wasn't busy, so we may be coming here again soon for an evening meal. Overall, I was very impressed and would highly recommend coming to here for a meal.
