frescoes by Pietro Paolo Vasta An oratory dedicated to Saint Sebastian, was founded by a fraternity, and had been erected during the 15th century at the present site where the church of Sant Antonio di Padova now stands. Saint Sebastian was a common source of veneration in italy as patron saint invoked for protection during the onslaught of the plague. Located in the heart of Acireale, Italy, Museo opera dei Pupi, also known as the Puppet Museum, is a fascinating attraction that showcases the significance of Sicilian puppetry. The museum highlights the traditional folk art and its role in entertaining the public with stories of legendary heroes and gods during the 19th century. Visitors can also enjoy live performances at Teatro dei Pupi nearby and even get a behind-the-scenes look at puppet making.
It is hide in the small street. You must push the bell, they will let you enter. It is quiet nice, you will see the local puoi. And Giuseppe is very nice, he will introduce the history of pupi. You also could ask him your questions. It doesn’t need to book and pay. They open from Monday to Saturday. Clean and comfortable. They said that they will try to organize the opera in the future .

I highly recommend visiting this museum. It offers a fascinating experience, and Toddy, along with all the museum staff, provides outstanding service. Their kindness and professionalism stand out, particularly in the way they explain the history of the pupis, making it easy to imagine life in past times. This museum is definitely worth a visit. I give it 5 stars for its exceptional customer service. Toddy is a warm hospitality makes you feel at home, and his detailed and professional explanations enrich the experience. I am truly pleased to have visited this museum and to have gained such valuable historical knowledge.

My family and I were vacationing in Acireale and wanted to learn about the Sicilian Puppet culture. Wow did we find the best gem in Acireale to learn about this exceptional tradition! This was one of the highlights of our trip! The brothers, Gaetano and Giuseppe Grasso, opened up the theatre just for my family. They shared with us the history of puppets in Sicily, how this theatre was started by their father Turi Grasso in the 1960s. They gave a tutorial to my oldest daughter, 9 years old (my youngest 5-year-old was too shy), about how to decorate a shield that she actually got to take home with her. She was so proud of herself and loved learning with Giuseppe. Our visit ended with the two brothers performing an actual puppet show for us. I am forever grateful we got to experience this. Thank you so much Gaetano and Giuseppe for sharing your passion with us. We will cherish the memories forever!!

Small museum with free admission dedicated to the history of puppeteering in Sicily, having some beautifully crafted and vintage puppets are on display. We were given an interesting explanation by the kind and attentive museum curator whose words were directly translated to English via his phone, since we don't speak Italian. We learned couple of fascinating facts and details during the short guided tour, as the museum is comprised only by a couple of rooms. Regardlesa, we can highly recommend you visit this museum, especially if you have kids.

Pizza restaurant
Restaurant
Frumento Pizzeria Acireale is a renowned pizzeria located near the fish market in Acireale, close to the historic center and just a short walk from Raciti Palace. It has received several accolades, including being named the best pizzeria in Sicily in 2019. The pizzeria offers a variety of delicious pizzas and a selection of different doughs to choose from. Visitors can expect an excellent dining experience with high-quality ingredients and exceptional service.
Hands down this is the best pizza I have had in my 40 years on this earth! The whole team were absolutely amazing too, so friendly and warm. The owner Manuel was an absolute gentleman. I will be visiting again to try that amazing pizza. Thanks to you all for a great dining experience!

We couldn’t start better our stay in Acireale. From the first bite, I knew it was the best pizza I have ever had. And this I can say after thousands. The restaurant has a motto “the good things arrive without hurry” so heads up, especially on a Saturday night but who cares, everything is forgotten when THE pizza arrives!
Ricardo C — Google review
Rating: 3,5 Service not great. Felt like an offense when asking to get the pizza sliced… location is fun as it’s on a busy square Food is average. I had much better pizza in both Italy and other countries and that was disappointing especially the salsiccia/potato/basil pizza. Margherita was GOOD
Oliver R — Google review
A very good pizza but not exceptional. The place was recommended by a friend and was indeed full with locals. The location is excellent, near the central square and the beautiful cathedral. But it took us good 15 minutes to find a parking slot. A very helpful and polite stuff.A lovely olive oil that changes the pizza from tasty but a bit insipid into a real tasty one.Good white wine.

Fantastic pizza verace (I took the Neapolitan style) at low price in the center of Acireale. The dough is so good and light, that at the end you’d like to eat another one! And the ingredients are just fabulous! The staff is very friendly and the location cosy. Really recommended.

Been travelling around the world, lived in 4 continents, tried for both work and pleasure several restaurants...ladies and gentlemen this pizzeria is an absolute top in its department. From the quality of the ingredients to the different dough, it's just an amazing culinary experience to be recommended. Impossible not to come back.

Nestled right by the sea, Ristorante La Prua is a hidden gem that offers an authentic taste of Sicilian cuisine. The owner, Puccio, warmly welcomes guests and even opens the restaurant early for those eager to indulge in fresh seafood. With generous portions and fair prices, diners can savor dishes like Sarde a beccafico and risotto frutti di mare while enjoying breathtaking views of the waves lapping at the shore.
I wasn't sure at first but clearly this restaurant is a big fan with the locals and my pasta was so delicious I wiped the plate clean. Highly recommended.

Ive had food all over the world, and the seafood here is as good as it gets. Excellent views, service, price and atmosphere.
Phil M — Google review
Only planned a coffee stop on the way to the airport but this looked too good to miss, rather than buying food at the airport. Excellent seafood. I had Sarde a beccafico followed by risotto fruiti di mare risotto and Grace had Zuppa di cozze followed by fruiti di mare e zucchini Tagliatelle. With deserts and coffees came to a very reasonable €80 for the two of us.
Duncan B — Google review
Standard menu food is good, view is great but please do not order desserts. It seems that they are buying them from corner shop and they are really bad. Service is so so, you have to remind and wave tour hand from time to time to see your existence

Very nice restaurant, next to the sea. Calm but very bright restaurant, I would prefer to have dimmed the lights outside. The food was good with big portions. The view is superb. I recommend you to go around 20:00 to find a table otherwise after 21:00 you definitely need a reservation. We had fish salad and ravioli.

It was 18:15 ...too early for "local Italian dinner time"...and we got turmed down from most places...but Puccio, the owner of this restaurant, opened the place especially for us with a big smile❤ An amazing variety of fresh fish cooked in the traditional Sicilian way. Top quality. Generous portions and fair price. Best view ever. Right on the sea... listening to the waves... Highly recommended... I am from the South of Italy. This restaurant is real good authentic stuff. Not a tourist trap....Thanks Puccio. LOVE LA PRUA. We'll be back.

Il Tocco Acireale is a hidden gem that offers an unforgettable dining experience, thanks to its stunning terrace overlooking the picturesque coastal villages of Santa Tecla and Stazzo. On clear days, you can even catch a glimpse of Calabria in the distance. This charming restaurant not only serves delicious pizzas but also boasts an impressive selection of burgers and refreshing aperitifs.
We had a fabulous dinner of an unexpected pizza flavour at Il Tocco with excellent service from Camillo, who took great care of us, including figuring out which cinnamon liquor I was talking about that I had had there before. It’s like being in a tree house suspended over the Mediterranean sea with a glimpse of Etna in the distance

Fabulous setting overlooking the Mediterranean. This is a very large restaurant on multiple terraces, but the service is quick and the staff professional and friendly. Food's great too.

Between Catania and Acireale, this restaurant placed on a hill has one of the best view of the coast you may find in the area. Perfect place for a happy hour, a bachelor party or just a casual dinner, both in summer or winter time. A place famous for its pizzas, apparently smaller then competitors, but actually very well cooked and absolutely tasty. They also serve salads, hamburgers and grilled meat. Prices are a bit above the average, but still reasonable (about 20€ each for dinner). Reservation is recommended. I found some tables to be not so comfortable (i.e., poor light conditions, bugs swarming around, ants all around you). Staff is kind.
Filippo M — Google review
It has a nice view and ambience even at night. Parking is a bit tricky as the restaurant may get busy. We shared pizzas and fries. The food was good though I had more tasty pizzas at other places before. I added Sicilian crust which made it taste better than the regular crust.

Ristorante-Gourmet I CAVADDARI is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. Nestled just outside the hustle and bustle of Catania, this restaurant offers a serene atmosphere perfect for savoring exquisite dishes at a leisurely pace. While our visit started with some delays in service, the anticipation only heightened our appreciation for the beautifully crafted seafood offerings.
I live by one simple principle. If I have nothing good to say, I say nothing, except when necessary. That said, I reserve my comments for things that have amazed 👏 me and leave me speechless or exceptionally filled with delicacies and Ristorante-Gourmet I CAVADDARI did just that. Back story, I am definitely not a sushi or sea food person. So, to find myself eating seafood like I did and especially sushi 🍣 😋, they must have put the spell on me. A spell of delightfully made tasty dishes. To Chef Dario and his exceptional crew, Grazie Millie Tutti!!!. Those five stars for each area are understatements. If there were more stars to give, I would have given them all. Sea Urchin pasta, fresh shrimp 🍤, a different glass of wine 🍷 excellently paired with each dish, professional and respectful 🙏 staff, Indoor and outdoor atmosphere that were spectacular and welcoming, and the list is endless like my run-on sentences. I just can't stop. Wait. Did I mention desserts 🍨 🥧? Oh my goodness. Those were a perfect ending to a beautiful evening. So, if you love seafood or just great food, this is the place to be. All-State got nothing on this place. You are in excellent hands.

Hi Sergio, thank you so much for your full service and friendship from stepping into the door to arriving to my hotel. I am so appreciate to your warm help for our teams safe return to hotel in late night. As this is my first trip to Sicily, I have no idea on Sicily's great food. I order some dishes and share with my friends, and we are surprised to the freshness and richness of the foods and high level of decorations, service and wine pairing. The amuse-bouche and welcome drink is perfect. This is real gourmet dinning, and I regret to miss your full course dinner. I will revisit your restaurant and enjoy it later. The price is very much affordable!

Renowned for its exquisite seafood, the restaurant offers a delightful array of dishes, from extraordinary raw appetizers to spectacular warm options. The presentation rivals that of Michelin-starred establishments, showcasing the rich traditions of Sicilian cuisine with remarkable professionalism.
Great fish food experience thanks to the great chef plates by Gaetano and the amazing service by Mauro (he even made a tiramisu' at the moment in front of us). Everything was delicious. First time at this restaurant. Impressive good quality food presented in the right portion size. Mainly specialising in fish but even marvellous choice of meat dishes for meat lovers. Highly recommended to everyone and our visit will definitely not be the last.

We hesitate to tell any Americans about this place because we'd prefer to keep it for ourselves. The food was 1st class in presentation and the chef possesses skills that just may be underappreciated. The octopus black ink pasta with prawns is my new favorite dish. I've had the pasta in 3 different restaurants with skilled chefs and this was clearly the best. You couldn't help but suck the broth out of the prawn shells. Their swordfish rolls were placed on a thin melted local cheese that made this another standout. You'd have to make a reservation to get any kind of view from the restaurant. Our waiter made excellent recommendations and we worked out everything we needed despite the language barrier. Just Italian families on this Sunday evening... an excellent sign for those looking for authentic dining experiences in Sicily.

I cannot say enough good things about La Polena. They were able to get us a reservation with short notice. They are so welcoming and friendly. Maulo was our waiter. He spoke very good English and helped us decide on the menu. THE FOOD!! It's so amazing, fresh, and plentiful. There is a beautiful view of both the sea and Mt. Etna from the outside terrace. We will definitely be back :) Grazie mille!

Nestled by the sea, Al Mulino offers a romantic dining experience that seafood enthusiasts will cherish. The restaurant's thoughtful decor enhances the ambiance as you savor fresh dishes while listening to waves crash against the rocks. A standout dish is the squid ink pasta nero, which surprises with its rich flavor despite its unique appearance. Guests can select from a seafood bar at the entrance, ensuring transparency in pricing and weight for an enjoyable meal without unexpected costs.
Amazing place both for locals and tourists. The service was friendly and efficient, the dishes were simple and genuine. The location is very good with a nice view over the sea. The food is average and the service is good. The taste of the food is average but the catch of the day on the grill is quite good. The antipasto mix-grill is ok and you will not need main course if you have lunch. You cannot pay with the card so you need to have cash :(

We had an amazing experience at Al Mulino. Amazing seafood options, with great flavours. We had the carbonara pasta, the pasta con gamberi and mussels with tomato sauce. Kind friendly service. We recommend this restaurant 🥰
Alina T — Google review
The food was top class, I’ll give credit where credit is due BUT everything else is utter rubbish. Half of our party didn’t understand Italian so the rest of us needed to translate for them. This obviously takes time which the waiter clearly didn’t get as he came round 4 times to ask if we are ready to order and getting increasingly rude and snappy. On top of that, some mains came with the starters AND they completely forgot a main course all together and acted even more rude and snippy when we told them. Again, awesome food (arguably the best seafood around) but the service killed it for us
