National library
School
Libraries
The National University Library of Kosovo "Pjetër Bogdani" is a unique and iconic landmark in Pristina, known for its unconventional brutalist architecture. Built in the 1980s, it features concrete blocks, a metal mesh net, and 73 small bubble domes. Despite its controversial appearance, the library stands as a symbol of knowledge and learning in the city.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the National Library of Kosovo "Pjetër Bogdani" in Pristina. The library's distinctive architecture, with its 99 domes and intricate metal lattice design, struck us as a fascinating blend of modernist and traditional Balkan influences. We were particularly interested in the American section, which offered a thoughtful and informative perspective on U.S. culture and history. The serene reading spaces and the library’s extensive collection made our visit both educational and memorable. For those planning to go, the library is open Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM; it is closed on Sundays. Admission is free, making it an excellent stop for anyone interested in architecture, literature, or cultural heritage.

Cannot recommend this architectural wonder and public library enough. I initially wasn't aware of the PR efforts around branding this the ugliest European building to create social media 'noise.' So I expected to see a simple, brutalistic boring building. The detail both in and out is truly remarkable though. Definitely one of the most architecturally detailed landmarks I've ever seen in the world. Was lucky enough to come across a library staff member who kindly took us on a detailed tour of the place and showed us around. He was super friendly and informative. Note: There are English reading books and war information in their dedicated 'American' section. If you wish to read particular books, you let the staff know and using a numerical system bring it up from underground (3 floors down). Very similar too some libraries in Paris, New York, London and Sydney. It's very efficient. OVERALL: Highly recommend and definitely worth taking the time to visit. It's free, smoke free and always open to the public.
Louise — Google review
A very interesting building, which conquers with its beauty almost all other buildings in the area. On the upper part there are 99 domes, which are inspired by traditional Albanian hats. The architectural style is a mixture of modernism, metabolism and symbols of Islamic and Byzantine architecture. The architecture contains metal grilles and from afar it looks very beautiful. I did not have the opportunity and time to go inside, but from the outside I liked it very much.
Spase M — Google review
It is certainly an awesome architecture, and it’s the only place worth visiting in centre Pristina. Beside it, there is a nice interesting abandoned cathedral.
Connie W — Google review
The library is a piece of architectural art! You can go in it and look around, but if you want to use any of their books or resources, you have to have a membership. There are two study rooms that are open to the public - one on the main floor and one on the second floor. They are both silent study areas. The one on the bottom floor is set up like a testing center (with no phone allowed signs) while the one on the second floor is set up more like a study room.
Prishtinë M — Google review
Despite being voted as the ugliest building in the world, i think that only shows the lack of education and knowledge people know about the place. The white domes are meant to represent the Plis which is culturally worn by Albanian men especially during the war with the Serbs during the period of Yugoslavia. Amazing building which has photos and exhibitions on how America helped Kosovo against the Serbs and how Kosovo went through such struggle in it's genocide.
Adam H — Google review
Closed on Saturdays and Sundays, which makes no sense for visitors. We could only see the exterior, which is an unusual kind of ugliness — architecturally interesting, but not exactly pretty.
Ozge U — Google review
Very interesting design. Nice acoustics at the amphitheater

Sculpture
Sights & Landmarks
The Newborn Monument in Pristina, Kosovo is a contemporary landmark that commemorates the region's declaration of independence from Serbia in 2008. This typographic sculpture holds great symbolism and its appearance changes annually on the anniversary of Kosovo's independence. The monument stands against the backdrop of the Palace of Youth and Sports, showcasing youthful energy at the heart of Europe's newest nation.
Great cultural monument which (beyond its obvious 'insta-worthy' attractiveness) carries so much historical value. Dynamic in nature, the letters are decorated differently every year. This pays tribute to the ongoing commitment of this area to change, initiative, creativity and celebration of the present times. I absolutely love what it stands for and felt very hopeful for this incredible city and its people, just being here. Free to visit, not overly popular, so easy to take photos of and located right near the sports stadium.
Louise — Google review
Easy to find, was there on workers day so it was a holiday and busy, every one wanted to get there pictures in front of it. Interesting how they keep repainting it so you don't know what to expect when you show...
Kevin P — Google review
A bold and ever-evolving symbol of Kosovo’s spirit! The Newborn Monument isn’t just a photogenic landmark - harder to take selfies because of the wide dimension — it’s a canvas for political, cultural, and social expression. Unveiled on the day Kosovo declared independence (Feb 17, 2008), it changes design each year, reflecting the country’s journey. Easy to find near the Palace of Youth and Sports, and well worth a visit to feel the pulse of modern Kosovo.
Sa S — Google review
The Newborn Monument was one of my favorite stops in Prishtina. It’s amazing how it changes every year with a new design and message—each one feels meaningful and full of creativity. The whole area has a really positive vibe, and it’s a great spot to take photos and just take in the atmosphere of the city. If you’re in Prishtina, you definitely shouldn’t miss it!
Jack F — Google review
Great symbolic monument for Kosovo as a country. I heard different times different design .
J — Google review
It’s interesting to see the new ‘Newborn’ monument in Pristina a powerful symbol that continues to evolve with time and reflect current sentiments. It really invites reflection and conversation.
Tarik R — Google review
Exactly at the day we went, there was a truck blocking the monument. Probably working in some event at the side venue. Still this place is too remember that Kosovo is a country. A young one
Paulo S — Google review
As a landmark of the city it’d be silly not to pass by, but situated where it is and on a busy road means there isn’t a great deal else to do in the immediate area. However this does also mean (certainly every time I passed anyway) that it isn’t swamped with tourists continually and people taking photos. There’s not any signage explaining the significance which I spotted but with the ever changing design it’s something worth revisiting each time you’re in the city.

Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
The Cathedral of Saint Mother Teresa, inaugurated in 2010, is an elegant Romanesque-style cathedral dedicated to St. Teresa of Calcutta. Although consecrated in 2017, it is still under construction. This impressive building is Pristina's largest Roman Catholic place of worship and features high ceilings and vast windows that allow natural light to illuminate the interior.
A very modern and 'clean' church, not cluttered with a lot of statues. The windows and a few statues around the altar draw the main focus of your attention. We were here midweek so missed English Mass on a Sunday, but enjoyed a quiet prayerful time saying the Rosary. It's easy to miss, but you can take the lift up to the top of the bell tower for €2, which is well worth it. Views are spectacular of the Kosovo national library in particular and other sights near and far.
Idris E — Google review
Beautiful cathedral dedicated to the most beautiful soul. Pay 2eur to take a lift up the bell tower. Great views.
Paul T — Google review
A striking and modern cathedral dedicated to one of the most beloved humanitarian figures. The architecture is elegant, with tall bell towers and beautiful stained-glass windows, including one of Mother Teresa with the Pope. The peaceful interior offers a quiet place for reflection in the heart of the city. Entry is free, and it’s worth a short visit whether for spiritual or cultural interest.
Sa S — Google review
It was a beautiful cathedral with great glass details. Going up to the tower part was 2 euros per person. A fee that can be given to go up to a tower where you can see the entire Pristina.
Merve Ö — Google review
Inside the cathedral is excellent. Very clean and the stained glass windows are beautiful. The elevator ride up to the viewing area costs a few euros per person. The elevator was slow the entire way up which was annoying when waiting for groups of people to enter and send the elevator back down again, leading to increased wait times. The elevator is cheap and wobbly for such a tall building (Schindler 3300, really??). The views at the top are beautiful, but the elevator is slow, and you often have to wait ages to wait for groups of people to enter/exit at the bottom and top.
Zef — Google review
I loved the church, especially on a sunny day it shines with the simple white interior and the beautiful colorful windows that reflect the light everywhere. For 2€ you can take the elevator up and have a pretty good view over the city. Only sad thing is how dirty it is up there in a sense of wall paintings, so pls don’t put sth on the walls.
Amelie P — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Must-See Modern Masterpiece in Pristina I had the pleasure of visiting the Cathedral of Saint Mother Teresa in Pristina, and it left an indelible impression on me—truly deserving of a five-star review! Architecture & Atmosphere This cathedral stands out with its elegant modern-Romanesque design, soaring ceilings, and expansive windows that fill the space with soft, natural light. It beautifully marries contemporary aesthetics with spiritual serenity—unlike the typical ornate old-style churches. Visitors often commend this "modern and simplistic style" and lively yet peaceful environment. Tower & Views One unforgettable highlight is the bell tower. For just €2, you can ride the elevator up to the third floor and enjoy sweeping panoramic views of Pristina’s skyline—worth every cent. Reviewers describe it as "amazing" and "a great overview of the city." Spiritual & Cultural Significance Inside, the cathedral pays thoughtful homage to Mother Teresa with statues, artworks, and symbols reflecting both her Albanian heritage and global legacy. The sense of peace and reverence is palpable—many visitors mention the cathedral as a serene refuge in the heart of the city. Accessibility & Visitor Experience The site is very visitor-friendly. Accessible ramps and elevators ensure everyone can explore, and the friendly, knowledgeable staff enhance the experience. The venue makes a strong effort to educate, with informative plaques and historical exhibits throughout. Overall Impression A modern architectural gem, rich in meaning and comfort, offering reflection, cultural connection, and splendid views all in one spot. Despite its still-evolving construction, it captivates. It’s no surprise that it ranks among Pristina’s top attractions.
Andres — Google review
This is a beautiful, simple, uncluttered cathedral of white stone. Inside is spacious and airy, welcoming to sit and breathe. The whole ambience is inviting. Worth a visit.

History Museums
The Kosovo Museum, established in 1949 and housed in a historic 1889 villa, is a significant cultural institution in Pristina. The museum showcases archaeological artifacts and offers insights into the region's Ottoman and Yugoslavian history. Visitors can explore the outdoor park area surrounding the ochre-painted villa, adding to the overall experience. One of its notable features is the 'imperial mosque,' originally built on the orders of Mehmed the Conqueror around 1461.
Small museum but worth a visit, ground floor was full of antiquity's from various eras and top floor was dedicated to the Kosovo war with a lot of weapons and photographs and other artifacts from the struggle for independence
Dai M — Google review
I was excited to visit but what shocked that it actually is more like an abandoned Museum! No proper cooling system in this summer heat and all what’s presented isn’t that interesting especially in the first floor. No proper presentation of the history of the country especially during Ottoman Empire days and so. I wouldn’t recommend visiting it however it’s beside three of beautiful mosques so you might as well pass by it.
إسراء — Google review
The ancient and modern history of Kosovo is sufficiently understood. But unfortunately there is not enough information about the Ottoman Empire period. Only the swords of the period are exhibited.
Melih A — Google review
A small local museum with two exhibitions, archeology and history. Entrance is free, a small donation is expected. Exhibitions are small, while the archeologic one has some descriptions, the historic one lacks in entirely. No background, no storytelling, nothing. The historic exhibition is basically a random collection of old weapons ans uniforms. The museum could be nice if curated, but in its current state it's a 10min walk-in and out. Not recommended.
Thomas B — Google review
Wrong location in Google Maps. It’s 100 meters towards the main road. Small museum. First floor is archaeological. Some nice Neolithic items and the stupendous little women in a skirt. The second floor is recent war stuff.
Jeremy K — Google review
Many have looted art out of Kosovo, so the displays here remain sparse. Nevertheless, the grounds are well kept by the staff, and the art that is here tell an interesting story. Admission is free, and the museum is centrally located. Well worth a visit.

History Museums
When in Kosovo, a visit to the Ethnographic Museum - Muzeu Etnologjik is a must. Situated in the heart of the Bazaar area of Pristina, this museum is housed in a charming traditional residence and showcases an array of artifacts reflecting Kosovar life. The exhibits include traditional clothing, textiles, furniture, and various other items found in typical Kosovar households.
Very quick visit only about 5mins to walk through the whole house. Nothing too interesting because there are no plaques to read. However a cool free activity to see how life was back then.

Currently only one of the buildings is open - the rest are still being restored - but I enjoyed the visit! Its a short visit for sure, but enjoyable.

No tickets are required; it’s free, though tips are appreciated. A guide provided some information about the houses and the families that lived there, but he wasn’t the friendliest. It’s worth a visit but not a must-see. The location is also not the easiest to find.

Restaurant
Liburnia, established in 1992, is a well-decorated restaurant located in Pristina, Kosovo. It is popular among locals and tourists for its warm ambiance and good value for money. The menu offers traditional local stews, grilled meats, international dishes like pizza, and the famous chicken rice with sweet chili.
Liburnia is the kind of place that makes you feel at home the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is warm and rustic, with a cozy, welcoming charm that perfectly matches the heartiness of the food. The menu features traditional dishes full of rich, authentic flavors. The grilled meats were perfectly cooked, the vegetables fresh, and the bread—still warm from the oven—was absolutely delicious. Every plate felt thoughtfully prepared and generously portioned. The staff were kind, attentive, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. It’s clear they care deeply about both the food and the guests. Whether you’re visiting Pristina or live nearby, Liburnia is a place you’ll want to come back to. It’s a true gem that delivers comfort, flavor, and hospitality all in one place.

This establishment is the most enchanted garden themed restaurant in the world!!😍 It has loads of charm like a museum with ancient artifacts, relics, sculptures and photos of a time long past. It is so magnificent! Now, this is my favorite restaurant in the Balkans! I know, I know. I only been to Macedonia and now, Kosovo! But I have made up my mind! The food was delicious, fresh and flavorful! I am very happy my driver/tour guide recommended this amazing establishment! The staff were professional, friendly and attentive. Strongly recommended. They place is very nice, with lovely decoration. Food was superb. Portions were big and we (3 people) shared 3 starters and 2 main to taste different things. All was delicious and the lamb was perfectly cooked. I can't say what was my favorite dish.
Carlos G — Google review
Best food experience in Prishtina. The servers are positive and nice. The food rations are pretty big and the food itself is amazing. We tried steak, suxhuk and qofte and everything was cooked to perfection. The place itself is an albanian wonder, with many references to village life. There is a smoking area, where you can also eat, and there is a big cozy space inside. We arrived at 5, so there were a lot of free tables, but for a later time it is best to make a reservation as it can get very busy.
Natali S — Google review
This place is one of the oldest restaurants in Prishtina and it has kept its unique interior and high-quality food since the beginning. I loved the atmosphere, the service was very good and the food incredible. It is a bit more expensive than other places, but worth to try it.
Gentinë V — Google review
One of the most beautiful places in the city! The food ranges between exceptional to plain vanilla depending on your choice but the Kosovo specialties were great! The only down side is that you can’t book in advance on their website and the service is quite bad! Perhaps because of the lack of English ( even though the menu is fully translated) but it feels rude and without interest for the foreigners!
Cipriano C — Google review
The food was really excellent and also very reasonably priced. I’d especially like to highlight the service – the staff were very friendly, attentive, and child-friendly. Even without a reservation, we got a table without any problems. At the end, we were even offered a complimentary coffee. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable visit – highly recommended!

This is a very nice restaurant. It has a very cool decoration. As for the food, i guess i had very high expectations. The prawns were good but other than that nothing else was exceptionally delicious, just average. And the homemade wine was not the best, and the meat cooked in wine had a strange taste.

Nestled in a serene residential area, Renaissance Restaurant stands out as a culinary gem in Pristina. This charming establishment, transformed from a house into an inviting dining space, is run by three brothers who are passionate about showcasing the rich flavors of Kosovo. They collaborate closely with local farmers and producers to craft dishes that honor traditional recipes while incorporating modern culinary techniques. The restaurant plays a pivotal role in shaping the evolving dining culture of Kosovo, which has blossomed since the country’s independence.
Most wonderful restaurant with best food in town. It does not get better than this. The hosts and people running it are incredibly kind and will make sure that you have an amazing evening. A very lovely restaurant. With a very cosy atmosphere. We were very happy with our choice and we enjoyed a lot our dinner . The Chef knows his food and amount of serving for the amount of people that are dining. It's worth mentioning that the chicken was cooked to perfection, because there's always problematic to cook it and not all reach this good, tasty ,well marinated and moist point. That's why I don't prefer chicken in restaurants, but herewas very well done. The calf was very soft, moist, very well cooked . The appetizers are really delicious and the fresh salad was super tasty, with very fresh products that made the difference. We will come back for sure. Thank you for the lovely night

One of our best dining experiences in Pristina was at Renaissance. Inside a stone building using reclaimed pavement, the restaurant is run by the owner's sons. The space itself is beautiful with a second-floor loft and an open kitchen. The experience is one set price of 25 Euros paid in cash. Once seated, they bring food and unlimited wine to your table. The wine is house wine and there's a red and white. I went with white. It's a little sour, but not bad. The food comes out in waves perfectly timed. The starters are mushrooms, dips, bread, and olives. Next is a salad and then a plate of chicken kebabs. A small plate of dessert of bananas and a fried dough ball ends the experience. Overall, we loved our long dinner here. The owners are passionate and built a cozy place.
Austin G — Google review
Atmosphere was really good. Service is excellent. Fix menu fix price for 2 people 50 Euros . Main dishes chicken and meat together only the sauce was too salty for my taste
Recep A — Google review
What a great place! Family owned, feels like home. Reservation recommended since it’s rather popular. 20 euros per person for full experience: 0,5 liters of white and red wines, small plates/appetizers, salad to share, main dish (vegetarian available), and dessert 🍮. Pros: - pleasant atmosphere - friendly and professional staff; speak English - price - small plates and salad (favorites) Needs improvement: - provide better quality wine; raise the price or reduce the portion if needed. The current option is subpar and tastes like chemicals. - add side of vegetables to the meat dish. Eating meat alone may not be everyone’s favorite. - introduce new desserts and rotate periodically. For example, serve different desserts on different days or just have more than one option at any given day. Genuinely like the place and will be back again!

Tiffany is a high-end American retailer renowned for its exquisite jewelry, fine china, and silver items, as well as its wedding registry services. In Pristina, there is also a popular restaurant called Tiffany that attracts the city's international community with its traditional Kosovan cuisine. The restaurant offers a delicious organic menu with various vegetarian options and delectable grilled meats like chicken and veal. Visitors can savor these dishes on the sunlit terrace while enjoying freshly baked bread.
Terrific traditional Albanian food! I very much enjoyed every dish I tried. The service was subtle, flawless, and all around incredible. I wouldn't change a thing.

A traditional Kosovan restaurant frequented by locals mainly not tourists. Don't expect to stumble across it as there's no signage and it is busy so call and reserve a table in advance. It won't be to everyone's taste as there is no menu and you take what you are given, but the food is delicious and a true flavour of the region. The Sarma in particular was delicious (grape leaves stuffed with meat), but the Mantia (veal dumplings) and Elbesan tave me mishi vici (lamb in eggs and yoghurt) were good too. The beetroot in the salad was so fresh and tasty and the breads and dips nice too. Without wine it would have been €18 per person, but the wine does increase the bill significantly. All in a great experience and thanks to the staff and the local shopkeeper who recommended it!
Idris E — Google review
The food is decent, however, be prepared for the waiter to bring you dishes you didn’t even order just to charge you more. They don’t have a menu in the restaurant. We ordered three dishes, but the waiter brought something completely different — and even five dishes in total. They don’t speak English, and it’s very likely this is their way of making extra money. Tourists, BEWARE!

During our day trip to Pristina, we stopped for lunch at a charming restaurant located a bit outside the city center, nestled in a residential area. There is no menu at this establishment, so be sure to communicate your likes and dislikes to the server. We enjoyed a lovely red wine, along with some dips, a salad, and three meat dishes. All the food was delicious, although it would have been nice to have some rice to accompany the sauce.

Tiffany serves local dishes from the Balkans. There is no set menu, but rather whatever the chefs have available at the time. Accordingly, there are no exact prices. The food was delicious and varied. The team was polite, but not particularly warm towards me. I was able to pay by credit card. You should plan on spending 20 euros per person including drinks.

Pishat is a popular restaurant in Pristina, Kosovo, known for serving excellent mezes and traditional Albanian cuisine. It is well-regarded by locals and tourists alike and offers generous portions of meat dishes along with a few vegetarian options. The restaurant features large open terraces for summer dining and is one of the few in Pristina to serve pork dishes. Pishat's quality makes it a must-visit for those looking to explore Kosovo's cuisine.
Went here for dinner while staying nearby, it was recommended by the person who owns the place I'm staying. It was lovely food, I had the chicken and vegetables in a clay pot and it was really flavourful. It came with some nice bread and I ordered a glass of red wine. Altogether I paid with a 10 Euro note and that included a tip. They brought out a cognac and mousse for dessert, which was a lovely and unexpected bonus! It isn't something I'd normally drink but the congnac paired really well with the mousse, which was an unexpected bonus. I'd definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a restaurant. The place is now smoke free and has a lovely atmosphere.

Read so many good reviews about this place therefore was eager to try it. Unfortunately it didn’t live to my expectations. We came here for lunch and found this place in google by chance. In 2 words , lucky us ! The food was excellent. We had Brie cheese in oven with honey and butter. This Brie goes so well with the restorant wood oven baked bread. It is a must try ! As main dish we had beef and beef in 'tavë'. Tava was just delicious and the beef well cooked. We took our time to enjoy it with a cold freshly brewed beer. (Red wine would go well too). Lovely experience and atmosphere. This restorant had also A5 Wagyu and Black Angus as special meets. Probably we will try Black Angus next time 😄! The stuff was also very friendly and with good humor. Thank you guys for making our first diner in Kosovo better! Finally the Cognac is HOME MADE! Give it a try also.

We had a great time tonight in this restaurant. The food was lovely and the staff exceptionnel. Many thanks to the team and especially Ullu (sorry if it's not spell right) who went above and beyond to serve us. He is very attentive and clearly a great addition to that nice restaurant. Thank you again! Julie and Chris

The gentleman who was our waiter was excellent. He was accommodating, spoke English and helped us a lot. We did the 11 Euro meal. Goodness gracious me! It's a lot of food! Tasty but a lot. Fresh ingredients. Everything was excellent. Can't fault anything.

Princesha Gresa Restaurant has a unique appeal for those with refined tastes, valuing simplicity and familiarity in their meals. If you prefer your steak cooked to a medium-well perfection, positioned at the center of your plate alongside just the right amount of accompaniments, and your pasta cooked perfectly without being too firm or mushy, then this restaurant is ideal for you. Notably, they understand and respect individual preferences when it comes to food presentation and appreciate the desire for traditional combinations.
A special thank you to Princesha Gresa Restaurant in Prishtina! Our experience was absolutely amazing warm hospitality, incredibly delicious food, and very reasonable prices. A big shoutout to Adonis, who served us with exceptional care and professionalism. We were also delighted by their lovely tradition of treating guests to homemade desserts at the end. The staff greets you with a warm smile, making the atmosphere even more inviting. Highly recommended!

I have to be honest . It might me probably the best restaurant in Pristina and they might know how to cook fillet mignon but its states international restaurant - and it was my first time eating fish soup and spaghetti frutti di mare with crab rolls. Portions were big, which i presume its whats likeable here. Mixed meat was kinda strange. The best and most delicious was the bread and the cream.

It’s just that the atmosphere is good. I wanted medium/slow cooked meat and only a cig meat that they kept on the grill for 5 minutes came. I don’t recommend it. the waiters serve as if it were a kufur food. I asked for coke, it hasn’t arrived for 10+ minutes.
