Castle Cornet, a historical fortress located on a former tidal island, offers guided tours, period gardens, five museums, and a shop. The castle provides stunning views from its luxuriously appointed dining room and serves generous dishes featuring locally sourced seafood. It also hosts theater productions and musical events. Nearby, Hauteville House offers insight into the life of French writer Victor Hugo.
It has lovely views and really big place and i suggest to visit it first thing in the morning mainly in summers as it does get quite hot to do the tour of the castle and also if possible go with the tour guide it’s free or included in the ticket . There is even toilets and cafe inside the castle so you don’t need to worry about food or comjng with kids. The cafe people and the tour staff are really friendly and helpful. They even do a live gunfire at specific times if you wanna see it best confirm the timings before you visit or plan accordingly. I say it is a must visit as it got the best views, history and overall it’s worth it.

A very enjoyable afternoon spent at Castle Cornet. Steeped in a fascinating history, we were taken around the Castle by our tour guide (Steve). Each element was carefully described in such detail. The tour is included in the admission fee and just join at the entrance/ shop at the advertised times. Alternatively, there’s the option to just explore independently and visit the various other exhibits. There are amazing views of the town and surrounding islands from the top of the Castle. So much to take in from distant history to the occupation in the WW2. Parking is available nearby with a cafe and toilets available within the Castle grounds. This was very much an enjoyable experience and good value. All the staff were welcoming and helpful. Many thanks.

The place is big, but I was rushing a little in my visit being the last hour so didn't see everything but thankfully I only paid half price being close to closing time, I'm gutted i misses the afternoon gun but still always another chance to see again. Really great views and tonnes of history.
Charlie D — Google review
It’s very easy to kill some hours here. If the beautiful views from every angle of the castle aren’t enough, there is so much history about the castle (and Guernsey itself) to learn here that it can keep you busy and entertained for ages. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Guernsey.
Lorne I — Google review
Brilliant place to visit. A must see if you are interested in the his of Guernsey, Castle Cornet's own history, the Guernsey RAF, 201 Squadron and much more. Get there for the mid-day gun for a unique experience.
Kevin F — Google review
I am a history nut and was delighted to see that was a tour included in the price of admission. It starts at 10.30 am. I would really recommend it. Our wonderful guide, Charlie, was not only knowledgeable, but passionate. His family are from Guernsey; his great grandparents left to escape the occupation and returned in 1945. The island has seen it all. The castle is an absolute treasure trove of history and a stark reminder of what the islanders suffered during the war. There is a very loud gun salute at midday. Also the cafe served homemade walnut cake, which was delicious, and a very good pot of tea - as someone who drinks a lot of tea (it really is the answer to every problem), this is the true mark of a great cafe. I bought delightful hand painted Christmas baubles depicting Guernsey in the gift shop. If you are visiting Guernsey, you must go.
Bindy M — Google review
So much to see with three museums within the castle walls. The history stretches across centuries with significant evidence of the German occupation. Do allow at least 5 hours here taking in the canon firing at noon.
David R — Google review
Great spot for fantastic views; so much history and lovely map and activities for children too. You have to go for midday gun and watch them fire the cannon. Worth getting one of the annual passes for 24 per adult and children go free rather than paying £12 per adult and £3 for children. You get unlimited visits to the castle for a year, along with other museums on the island.

Hauteville House is the former residence of the renowned French writer Victor Hugo during his exile from France. Located at 38 Rue Hauteville, overlooking St Peter Port, this quirky and creatively decorated house and garden served as the backdrop for many of Hugo's masterpieces including Les Miserables and The Man Who Laughs.
Hauteville House, located in St. Peter Port, Guernsey, is a remarkable and atmospheric historical site, best known as the former home of French writer Victor Hugo during his exile from France. The house, which he lived in from 1856 to 1870, is a fascinating blend of history, literary significance, and eccentric design. Hugo’s time in Guernsey was marked by his creative output, including the writing of *Les Misérables*, one of his most famous works. The house itself is a work of art, designed and furnished by Hugo to reflect his personal tastes and political ideals. Every room is filled with a distinctive mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and French Empire styles, showcasing Hugo's love for both the dramatic and the ornate. His influence is especially evident in the elaborate woodwork, colorful stained-glass windows, and unique decorations, many of which were created by the writer himself. Visitors can tour the rooms, which are still arranged as they were during Hugo's residence, offering a glimpse into his daily life and creative process. Hauteville House’s location provides stunning views of St. Peter Port and the surrounding coastline, adding a layer of beauty to the experience. The house is also a tribute to Hugo’s personal struggles and exile, giving visitors a sense of the emotional and intellectual journey he embarked upon during his time on the island. For literature enthusiasts, history buffs, and those intrigued by Victor Hugo’s legacy, Hauteville House is an unmissable stop in Guernsey, offering a deep and immersive connection to the writer’s life and work.

A must visit if you have 2 hours, you will see all in this time incl garden. It was fully booked on the website but we emailed as we had a special birthday when visiting and we were staying at Pandora 2 doors up. They said to come down when they opened to see if there was room, and there was, so thank you for such great communication and being so accommodating. Our guide was a young french girl from Britanny who was extremely knowledgeable, passionate on it's history and made us laugh, she is a true credit to the museum. This house’s location gives you the most stunning views of St. Peter Port and the surrounding coastline. It was very interesting to hear all about Victor Hugo and the history of the house and his family, we learnt a lot. Loved seeing the artwork from both himself and his very talented wife.

Seeing this place is non-negotiable if you’re visiting Guernsey for the first time (and honestly subsequent times). It was the home of Victor Hugo while he was in exile from France during the reign of Napoleon the third. The interior is a maximalists dream, and every nook and cranny is dripping in symbolism and aesthetic beauty. It is an incredibly memorable place, both for its history and its exquisite beauty and charm. I can’t wait to visit again!
Lorne I — Google review
A real surprise. The house got better the higher you got. Very quirky.
Dennis W — Google review
Beautiful very well preserved house of Victor Hugo where he spent his last years. Making an appointment in advance, is necessary because only small groups are guided through the various rooms of the house.
Frank M — Google review
We walked up to Hauteville House to have a look at the exterior. Owned by the French, in their wisdom it is closed up from October till April so don't believe the opening hours shown! It looks quite sombre from the outside but apparently is magnificent inside. Maybe we'll go back next year to visit.
Ian S — Google review
Interesting experience that you can only enter with a small private guided tour. Adults are 12£ or 10£ for under 25 and students. Reservations are required, but you can walk up and try your luck on entering with a tour in your language. I didn’t want to wait an hour for English tour so I did French and got about 70-80% of it. Nice experience with good views, history and FREE access to gardens for anyone. This house shows thé eclectic personality and inner thoughts of exiled Victor Hugo
PPN — Google review
A great insight into the mind of Victor Hugo. Guided tour lasted around an hour. Worth booking in advance to minimise wait (you have to have a guided tour). Much dearer than the other attractions on the island as the house is part of the Paris Museum group.

The Guernsey Museum & Art Gallery, located in St. Peter Port, offers a fascinating journey through the rich history of Guernsey. From Neolithic farmers to Roman occupation and Norman rule, the museum showcases the island's diverse heritage. Visitors can explore exhibits on the Guernsey witch trials, local mythology, and rare artifacts from around the world. The art gallery features captivating nautical landscapes.
Lovely museum - offers different exhibits throughout the year, some of which are there all year round, including art, photography, and local history and folklore - has interactive displays. Gift shop is nice and also has a cafe which I haven’t tried but looks great. Lovely gardens, plenty of benches all around.
Analeigh M — Google review
This is a family friendly place with a mixture of exhibitions encompassing science and discovery with an art gallery. It’s bite sized but provides a nice afternoon of interesting, historical, and unusual displays (like the supernatural one). I don’t recommend eating at their cafe, however. Staff had poor, unhelpful attitudes and tea pot, utensils, & table were dirty, sticky & smudged. When I asked about the soup they said it would be a bowl; I literally laughed out loud when I saw it. It was a huge bowl with a ridiculously large rim and the soup was only a cupful in the middle! Nice garden out back, though.
Lily M — Google review
An eclectic mix covering the history of Guernsey divided into themed rooms. There are also rooms dedicated to art works and photography showing the social history of more recent times. Worth a browse if you are in the vicinity.

Renior Exhibition currently on show so definitely worth the visit but you must book tickets in advance. Normally you can just buy tickets on the desk but this exhibition is expected to peak a lot of interest with people travelling from all over to see it. It's the only one in 2023 celebrating 140 yrs since the artist's visit to Guernsey. Lovely grounds in general and a variety of exhibitions throughout the year. I live in Guernsey so i have an annual Discovery pass which I think it's good value, allowing access to Castle Cornet too.
Sarah ( — Google review
Set in lovely peaceful gardens and incorporates the old bandstand from the gardens. A bit expensive at £7 to enter.
BK — Google review
Fantastic museum, they always have interesting displays. Usually there is a local artist or similar in one of the rooms, another topical display in another of the rooms and then a permanent exhibit of local history and folklore with an art gallery of paintings through the ages. The gift shop has a nice variety of local crafts as well as the usual tourist gifts, and there's a cafe with beautiful views over the gardens and harbour that serves fantastic cake!!
Kate M — Google review
Didn't actually visit museum but had tea and cake in the cafe which was v good. Great views from terrace. Also impressed by lower Candie gardens. V pleasant place to sit & enjoy the sun. Some great exotic plant specimens and a particularly lovely Ginko tree.

The La Valette Underground Military Museum in St Peter Port, Guernsey is a unique attraction that showcases local WWI and WWII memorabilia. Housed in tunnels originally built by the Germans for U-boat fuel storage, the museum offers a fascinating insight into Guernsey's military history. Visitors can explore artifacts and exhibits related to the island's wartime experiences, making it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts.
Excellent well laid out occupation tunnel museum including Victorian section, WWI and medals display. This is in addition to the main occupation display! First class and highly recommend a visit

A very intense museum located in an original bunkersystem of the german nazi forces with lots of detailed pieces of exhibition, such as Nazi flags, Wehrmacht signs and patches, guns and rifles, Motorbikes, many many pictures of the occupation time. Very impressive the lots of documents, such as diaries, personal letters, official notice of executions, personal fates and many more. Some section of the exhibition is about worldwar one. Overall a true piece of memories, which I believe in this time is even more important to visit.

Just walked in and payed £8 or £9 and you can use card to pay. It’s not very big. It’s just full of uniforms and medals if that your thing. Was in and out in 20 mins.

The tunnels were built by slave labourers to serve as a refuelling station for German U-boats during WWII. Fantastic displays and an enormous amount of military and occupation memorabilia. Weapons, medals, uniforms, posters, helmets and many other items. Friendly and helpful staff and an excellent shop.

Amazing hiding underground museum. Definitely visit if you are in the area. It was great and had lots of love information and there were lots and lots of medals and others for super cheap! So yes, I would definitely go again if i were to be in Guernsey again!
Alexander L — Google review
A great place to spend an hour or so looking round. My partner is really interested in military medals and spent ages poring over their huge collection, which has been meticulously researched. Reasonable pricing to get in and well worth a visit.
Lyn B — Google review
There is a lot to see here! The museum is built in the actual underground bunker type tunnels. It is air conditioned and well lit. It is the best collection if memorabilia that I have ever seen in person. Most items are specific to the islands, but many items are easily recognizable. I did not share all pictures that I took. I hope people will go and see the items and collections for themselves. The pictures do not do them justice. While the lighting is fine in person, the pictures do not necessarily show how well maintained the items are. We went to this museum as part of a shore excursion from our cruise the excursion also took us to bunkers around the island. The guide was knowledgeable about the island and occupation history facts. This is worth the visit. They also have authentic items for sale as well as souvenir type items for purchase.
MaeZ — Google review
Great little museum with lots of information and war memorabilia’s on show. Museum is an underground tunnel built by the Germans during the time they occupied the island. Got some good souvenirs to take home and a book published in 1946 by one of the residents who lived through the occupation.

Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Guernsey, The Hook is a charming bistro-style café that has garnered quite the reputation among locals and visitors alike. Open only during the day, it serves as a delightful pit-stop for those exploring the scenic cliffs nearby. With an emphasis on local produce, The Hook offers a menu brimming with freshly-caught fish and shellfish, making it a must-visit for seafood lovers.
Don’t walk past without going in!! We almost walked past as we couldn’t see it was open but so glad we did. We had the fixed priced lunch menu and a couple of glasses of wine. The quality of the food and wine was unreal. The Sea bass, the steak and the cheesecake. Highly recommended.

Great food and service from every member of the team. Delicious food really well prepared, the sea bass was the highlight. The Prix Fixe was great value and had a great choice for veggies, fish and meat eaters. Hope to visit again.

Great views, friendly and welcoming staff and atmosphere, really unique and considered menu and every mouthful was a flavour sensation! I never normally eat oysters but was so intrigued by the pairing of rosewater and jalapeño peppers.....it did not disappoint! 🥰 Also love, that for a very affordable price, you can try just one if you like. My husbands steak was 'melt in the mouth' tender and the mocktail/beer choice was really well thought out too. Thank you. Highly recommended ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

What a find! This was seriously good cooking: the scallops with smoked mussel butter will live long in the memory. A warm welcome, excellent wine, very reasonable pricing, great views across to Castle Cornet: I was so impressed I had dinner at Hook twice in four days. Highly recommended.

Red is a trendy cocktail bar and grill in St. Peter Port, offering stunning views of the inner harbor. The bar is popular among the young crowd, featuring a DJ on weekends and skilled bartenders creating entertaining mixology performances. Meanwhile, the Red Grill House serves expertly grilled steaks and ribs with a distinct smoky flavor from the wood-fired grill. The restaurant's stylish interior provides a comfortable setting for savoring robust flavors.
Guernsey. Beautiful island with amazing laid back lifestyle and unbelievable meat they offer from their own island. This is a restaurant plus a bar both on separate levels. But if you are in town and you want to have an outstanding steak and dining experience, go to this place. Friendly staff and very good service. Great prices and excellent food. A must go place in Guernsey.

We had a wonderful meal at Red, the steak was fabulous, cooked to perfection, and the lobster Mac’n’Cheese was a triumph - well deserving of its place on the menu. They were very accommodating of our 10 month old, who had his first taste of steak here!
Georgina P — Google review
The four of us go out to eat at least once a month.. Tonight was the best so far! Great food! Brilliant booze and fabulous service! 😁 The portions are huge.. I've never known my other half to turn down dessert, but tonight he did. The guys who work there are exceptional 👏 And know their wines 🍷Always checking on your table, making sure everyone is happy and in no rush! We were the last customers in there and still they never hurried us, we were left to finish off the evening at our own pace, which we really appreciated, most restaurants we visit are practically throwing our coats at us to leave. Well worth the money and can not wait for our next visit. Well done RED, best meal we've had since coming to Guernsey 18 months ago and will be talking about this evening for a long time to come! 😁 Definitely deserve the five stars 🌟
Busy B — Google review
We'd been recommended to eat the steak at Red - as we were only visiting Guernsey for a couple of days, apparently we got lucky and managed to book. Great!! We had trouble getting into Red - we went into the foyer and was greeted by a pair of grey fire doors, the kitchen and stairs - we went upstairs but it was the Red cocktail bar with a private function. Back downstairs and flummoxed - a chef guided us through the unassuming fire doors and into the restaurant - not a good start. Our waiter was very attentive. We ordered a bottle of wine and perused the menu. My wife had the beef wellington and I went for the fillet with garlic prawns. We also ordered a side dish of roughly mashed new potatoes with tarragon butter. My fillet steak was remarkably average and same for the beef wellington - however, the potatoes had been deep fat fried and very crunchy/crispy so no sign of the butter, but some sprigs of tarragon on top. The manager wasn't happy with the kitchen staff going off-track from the menu. The potatoes were deducted from our bill. Red purports to be a swanky steak restaurant, but this time, for us, it fell way short of our expectations - maybe, next time, it'll be 5*, but not for us on our visit - disappointing... PS Macaroni and cheese in a posh restaurant, even with lobster - what's that all about...
Keith W — Google review
Nice bar to go on the front, animated social atmosphere and good views! Loud so hard to hear, but space to dance if wanted to and areas to sit down if thats more your speed. Drinks were great as well, recommend the pisco!

Birthday Dinner Arrive around 19:30 had a very good table in the corner. Service is very slick and Menus and drinks order taken quickly. Good choice of starters and many steaks on the list. I chose not to have a starter as the portions for me are a descent size. I wanted to try the Lobster Mac & Cheese as a side. I had the burger nice size came in a bun with a very big onion ring, no chips. £10 for the burger and £7:50 ish for the side. Had the fondant for dessert very rice and runny chocolate inside. Very good around would like to go back as a couple not in a large group. Can get noisy as the room has a wooden floor and the noise can reverberated. Will be back soon if we can get a table so book early.
William K — Google review
We arrived at the restaurant with wine from the upstairs bar and sat down as Rose, our waitress, explained the menu. As we were choosing our food, he arrived—like a character straight out of Fawlty Towers—brandishing his wine list like it was the Holy Grail. With greased-back hair and skinny jeans, he looked like a pushy car salesman. We had already reviewed the list and were about to order a bottle of Douro when he interrupted, “Don’t, I can see you can’t pronounce it!” It was as if we’d thrown down a gauntlet. Apparently, our modest choice of a £30 Portuguese wine wasn’t good enough for him, and his 20-second silence was so theatrical it could have headlined on Broadway. He stared at his wine list as if we’d ordered tap water and asked, “Have you ever drunk Douro before?” We replied, “Of course,” and politely declined his pushy invitation to buy a more expensive bottle. Oh, the tantrum that ensued! Shortly after, he stormed over, snatched my partner’s white wine glass—still with wine in it—and took it to the bar. We exchanged glances like kids caught talking in detention. My partner muttered, “I hadn’t even finished that.” By now, this waiter’s attitude was appalling, so I walked past him to the bar and retrieved the glass, clearly not empty. Apparently, he was peeking through the kitchen door slats, watching where I’d gone. Then, while I was in the toilet, he slunk over to apologize to my partner. The food arrived, and we watched him and his bald-headed colleague, “Do the Sell,” aggressively upsell wine to every table. The only saving graces of this restaurant were Rose, the waitress, and the decent food. We’ve eaten all over the world—from Bermuda to Canada, Greece, Portugal, and Italy—but this mediocre restaurant is being ruined by this vile, arrogant, rude, condescending wannabe. If this were my establishment, he’d be sacked on the spot. Unless, Red, it’s your policy to bully guests into buying overpriced wine—which, had he been polite and engaging, we might have considered. Given the restaurant’s lackluster ambiance, we felt it didn’t warrant a pricier bottle. After his performance, I’m glad we didn’t. He totally ruined what could have been a lovely evening and we couldn’t wait to leave.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of St Peter Port, Da Nello Restaurant is a delightful escape into the flavors of Italy. Since its inception in 1978 by Nello Ciotti, this charming eatery has become a beloved staple for both locals and visitors alike. The menu features an impressive selection of classic Italian dishes crafted from high-quality imported ingredients, with homemade pasta and traditional risottos being standout favorites that whisk diners away to Tuscany.

Just had dinner here me and my brother. What a lovely Italian restaurant. From the outside it looks small but it goes back and is decorated to a high spec. We had ordered a mushroom bruschetta and a mushroom filed with crab as a starter. We was brought bread to the table and water. For mains I had the lasagne with a side portion of fries and my brother had the lobster linguine both dishes were excellent. Well worth a visit if in St Peter’s Port

Very upsetting experience here on Friday evening due to a broken butter pot, members of my family cut her mouth badly, these things happen and I can except that having worked in catering, but it was the owners terrible treatment as though it was our fault! We hadn’t even had any food apart from the bread, we went to pay for drinks we had, and he even wanted to charge us for a full bottle of wine we hadn’t touched! Disgraceful, everyone said we should have kept the shared and taken it further, on hindsight wish we had! Very unprofessional

Delicious spot for Italian seafood. We had the goat cheese and the calamari appetizers - the calamari is really delicious and garlicky (watch out for the bacon). The seafood linguini was good, but not super flavorful although the actual seafood in it was cooked perfectly. The dessert is good too, really refreshing lemon cheesecake that was sweet but packed a punch.

We stopped in here for early evening drinks, and was impressed with the quality of the service and drinks. Located in the heart of St Peter Port, Le Nautique Restaurant is a chic and contemporary dining spot offering stunning harbor views and artfully-crafted seafood cuisine. As Guernsey's oldest restaurant, it occupies 18th-century vaults with fantastic views over the harbor from both floors. The a la carte menu features world-class cuisine with a focus on fresh seafood caught daily from Guernsey's waters.
Recommended to us by a taxi driver. Having not made a reservation they were accommodating and explained that we could eat provided we vacated the table by a certain time, which fitted our plan. The food was excellent and the hospitality the best we experienced on the island. An experience we will remember for a long time.

We had a very nice dinner at Le Nautique. The restaurant is very pretty and our food was good. The service was somewhat chaotic, but the end result was good. The large menu offered manny dishes, all of which were well cooked and presented. We were ever told about the special, which my wife would have enjoyed and we felt rushed, as the waiters were constantly clearing plates. I would like to give this seafood restaurant another chance.

Our visit to Le Nautique was a very positive experience for us as a couple in every respect. The atmosphere in the restaurant, the attentive and courteous service, the fine menu, the extensive wine list – everything appealed to us. Indeed, both the dishes we chose were exceptionally prepared and presented. The kitchen team did their very best, and it was immediately apparent. The Bordeaux for €77 was also first-class. We spent a relaxing evening and our stomachs were so full that we had to pass on dessert. Highly recommended.

We had our last dinner in Guernsey at Le Nautique with my fiancé’s mum, and it was the perfect way to end our trip. The food was absolutely fantastic—fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. The seafood especially was a standout. The view overlooking the harbour added such a special touch to the evening, creating a warm and elegant atmosphere. The staff were wonderful—professional, friendly, and made us feel truly welcome. A memorable dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommend Le Nautique for anyone visiting Guernsey—it’s a must-visit!

The food here is excellent. The service was also good and the food was good value for money, especially considering its basically a tourist centre. They have a good selection of food and some nice wines, both by the glass and bottle. Even if you are not in to sea food, they have other options. I had a lovely fillet steak. I would certainly recommend eating here if you visit St Peter Port.

Beautiful restaurant with stunning view over St Peter Port. Really good food and good service. We reserved our table online a few days in advance. I recommend doing so to avoid disappointment. This is one if my favourite places to eat in Guernsey.

I live in Guernsey and this is known for good seafood. Never been disappointed with the food or service here. Starters are on average £9 to 12, main is approx £20-£35 and desserts are about £6-14. Great menu and definitely a fantastic place for fabulous seafood.

This was the only true knockout restaurant we ate at on the island - and we sampled a number of restaurants during our stay in Guernsey. Truly tasty dishes - the lobster soup and crab trio in particular were delicious, although I'm sure it would have been hard to go wrong with any dish on their menu. Excellent attentive staff and similarly priced to other places which didn't really compete. Great experience!
