Osteria di Passignano, located in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, is a renowned restaurant with one Michelin star. Established in 2000 by Marcello Crini and Allegra Antinori, it offers an authentic experience of Tuscan cuisine and wine culture. The menu features traditional Tuscan recipes with a modern twist, showcasing the region's local ingredients and long-standing wine tradition.
Great Place, everything was completely amazing!!! The service, the wine tasting and the chef’s amuse-bouche (tasting sample) was perfect. For sure one of the top 3 Michelin restaurants in my life.

A la carte only this evening. Nice meal that I enjoyed much more than my partner. Loved the seasonal summer dish highlighting sweet cherry tomatoes, and my venison was excellent. The petit fours were A LOT. We easily could have filled up on those alone. We also had a zucchini dish that unfortunately fell flat. Otherwise, beautifully romantic atmosphere, and the wine list was seriously one of the most impressive we've seen anywhere in Italy.

Osteria di Passignano offers an exceptional Tuscan dining experience. The food is delicious, highlighting traditional flavors, and the wine list is superb. The ambiance is charming and elegant, and the service is friendly and professional. It's a perfect spot for a truly memorable meal.

Incredible dining experience with friends. Service commensurate with a Michelin restaurant. We had a paired food and wine experience. Great way to learn about the Antinori family and history. If you have time, go for a tour of the cave.

Our second time at Osteria di Passignano. Two years ago we enjoyed their set menu & wine pairing. This time around we chose a la carte and were equally impressed. The service is emasculate, food is sensational and the wine is the cherry on top. We can’t wait to visit again.

Words are not enough to described wat we experienced, from the arrival to the departing was an another world experience, we tasted 4 wines with an entry, a mous bouche from the chef, two main courses and a desert to share and some sweet wine!! And it was out of this world...expensive but worth it

Perhaps four stars just for the restaurant experience (but perhaps because I was a little tired to enjoy the food properly). But I joined the winery tour (which includes the wine pairing lunch) and it’s exceptional. It’s one of the best winery/historical tours I’ve had. The guide (who’s also the restaurant server!) was really good. So overall was a five stars experience!

Food was really good except for the bread given when you arrive. They have other bread afterwards that was so much better, which was a good thing because we were worried after taking the first bite that everything would be a bad as the bread they gave, but they must have wanted us to know how much better the rest of the meal was lol Service was very slow when we arrived. We waited a long time to order wine and one person in our party asked about other beverages and it took at least 20 min before they remembered to return to ask what he wanted to drink. They also failed to notice when his drink was empty and ask if he wanted another. Other than that, everything was delicious - especially the beef cheek and the twice baked potato! And we had a lovely experience.

Italian restaurant
Antica Trattoria La Toppa is a charming family-run restaurant in a picturesque setting, offering typical Tuscan fare. The outdoor seating under the stars adds to the enchanting atmosphere. The elderly owner and nonna are actively involved in preparing traditional dishes, ensuring an authentic dining experience. Despite mixed reviews on taste, the friendly service and cozy setup make it a noteworthy spot in the medieval village of San Donato.
Antica Trattoria La Toppa – The Best Accident We Ever Had Sometimes, the best experiences happen by pure chance. That’s exactly how we stumbled upon Antica Trattoria La Toppa, a hidden gem in the heart of Tuscany. It was our first time in this breathtaking region, and we wanted to immerse ourselves in the local culture. I had bookmarked this little trattoria while planning our family vacation, and since we were staying at a nearby winery outside San Donato, it seemed like the perfect spot for our first dinner. Pro tip: Be ready to walk! San Donato is a tiny, charming town where cars aren’t allowed inside, so you’ll have to park on the outskirts. Trust me, the short stroll through the medieval streets only adds to the experience. As we arrived, I confidently asked for a table for four—only to be met with a surprised look. “Do you have a reservation?” the host asked. Rookie mistake. This wasn’t a tourist trap; this was a true local institution, where the townspeople gathered for their nightly meal. But luck (or maybe fate) was on our side. The owner, warm and welcoming, found a way to squeeze us in. Walking into La Toppa felt like stepping into Nonna’s dining room—cozy, inviting, and filled with the scent of something incredible cooking in the kitchen. The staff was beyond friendly, happy to guide us through the menu, and the wine selection? Impeccable. Determined not to repeat my rookie mistake, I made a reservation for our last night in Tuscany—one final indulgence before heading to Venice. When we returned, the owner greeted us with a smile, clearly amused that I had learned my lesson. We started with delicious appetizers, but the real showstopper was the Bistecca alla Fiorentina. Before cooking, the chef himself came to our table, proudly displaying the massive cut of steak. “How would you like it prepared?” he asked. Without hesitation, we replied, “Chef’s choice.” His face lit up—a chef’s dream answer. Moments later, he returned with the most perfectly cooked steak, sliced and ready to be devoured. As we dug in, the owner and his father checked on us, grinning when they saw us passing around the massive bone, making sure we didn’t waste a single bite. The ultimate seal of approval? The owner’s father nodding in satisfaction as we unabashedly enjoyed our meal the Tuscan way. When it was time to leave, the chef personally thanked us for letting him cook for us—a true honor. But the night wasn’t over yet. As we went to pay, the owner ran into technical issues with his payment system, clearly frustrated. After sorting it out, he surprised us with a bottle of house wine, insisting we take it as a token of appreciation. Oh, and did I mention? La Toppa is featured in the Michelin Guide. But even if it weren’t, it would still be one of the best places I’ve ever accidentally walked into. Lesson learned: Some accidents are meant to happen.

We arrived today and had some time before check in at our lovely wine farm…. Discovered this gem for lunch by chance and how lucky! Really delicious food, daily freshly made pasta selection and excellent wines and the service was super! Finished things off with coffee and cake … Torta de nonna and Tiramisu. Highly recommend. Lovely little village to discover too!

We went here because of the Bib Gourmand recommendation and we're completely blown away. The service was extremely welcoming and the food was superb. Every dish exceeded our expectations by a lot! The pasta is homemade by the senior chef every day and the quality of the bistecca was extraordinary. Prices are more than fair, especially for the wines!!! and I would always recommend this to anyone wanting to have an extraordinary culinary experience.

Food was incredible and a good value. We stumbled upon this restaurant on our last night in Tuscany after driving into San Donato on a whim. We were lucky to get a table as the restaurant was busy. Family-run restaurant and we were lucky to chat with the owners (three generations!). Really happy they were able to accommodate us. Highly recommend :)

We wanted to go somewhere special for our last night in Italy and found this gem. Very simple decor with great service, we loved every course! It’s in a very cute town that’s fun to stroll around in. Turns out they have a few Michelin stars too!

I'd I could add stars I would. A delightful lunch experience with friendly service, lovely vino and authentic, delicious food. Could not ask for more, I only wish I could eat more. Ravioli was my favourite main, the duck ragu is perfectly balanced. The dessert is too good not to have, especially Grandma's cake. Grazie Luigi and Matteo!

We had a dinner reservation here last summer but, unfortunately, had to cancel. After a full year of anticipation and conversation about this place, we were thrilled to finally return to this hidden gem. Tucked away in a picturesque Tuscan village, the restaurant welcomes you with a door adorned in well-earned accolades. The service was warm, attentive, and incredibly helpful in navigating the menu. It’s easy to see why this establishment has maintained its place in the guide for over 15 years, a testament to its enduring quality. We’re so glad we finally had the chance to dine here. The wild boar pappardelle and duck were both outstanding, and the meal was perfectly finished with a rich chocolate panna cotta.

Absolutely fantastic. Every dish had perfect flavour and balance - delicious, honest y er elegant Italian food made from top-quality ingredients. What I loved most was the service. You can tell it’s a true family business; with joy and real care for their guests and food and it shows. Even the chef pops out to check that everything was tutto bene. You feel the love in every plate. Grazie mille for a wonderful dinner.

Osteria Uscio & Bottega is a charming restaurant that offers an unforgettable dining experience. The place is so popular that getting a seat without a reservation can be quite challenging, but the effort is definitely worth it. The food served here is fantastic and varied, ranging from quality charcuterie, cheese, and olive oil to delicious pasta dishes like pici and gnocchi. Even vegetarians will find something to rave about on the menu.
I was staying in Borgo Sicelle for 5 nights on a cycling trip and had lunch and dinner here most days. The food we had was fantastic and varied every day, from great quality charcuterie, cheese and olive oil (most restaurants don't use quality oil), to ragu to grilled meats (steak, chicken, rabbit) to an incredible veggie lasagne. The salads are fresh and interesting...the house wine is really good quality. 👍 highly recommended.

Truly memorable and perfect. Comfortable warm setting, efficient and knowledgeable service. Food is expertly prepared but free of ego and fussiness. Top quality local wine if you ask. Amazing view and architecture. A very special place.

We ate lunch here as a family of four and it was one of the best meals we’ve had in Tuscany. The staff were very good, helpful and spoke amazing English (we are embarrassed that we need this but sadly we do!). Slightly different dishes than the norm, beautiful pasta - the lasagnetta was a highlight. Will definitely return.

We had a lovely dinner here, we had four different dishes and each single one was tasty, you really cannot go wrong ordering anything from the menu. Great atmosphere, we sat outside in the patio and saw the lovely sunset while we had dinner. Lovely lovely place, do not hesitate to come here.

This was my favorite dinner in Italy — we got the ‘strange’ caprese, bruschetta, pici, gnocchi, oven roasted vegetables, meatballs, and tiramisu — and WOW. This was the food I hoped and dreamed for when coming to Italy!! I’m a vegetarian, but after a couple glasses of Chianti Classico I tried my husband’s order of the meatballs and I might describe them as life changing. The service was incredible, and the atmosphere was just perfect. The restaurant lost power the last hour we were there, and they lit candles everywhere and carried on with service — if anything this added to the ambiance.

Countryside bottega, not very rich offer, but stunning atmosphere and delicious meals and wine.

Ate here a couple of times when staying in the accommodation opposite. It was great, traditional food but at really reasonable prices. Service was excellent. The mixed fried meats and vegetables was a delight. I would definitely recommend 🥳

This was the best meal I ever had in Italy! We ordered tagliatelle al Ragu, gnocchi, the risotto and the cheesecake with pistachios. All were absolutely incredible! The location and the atmosphere were also amazing. Thank you for the unforgettable food experience!

Ristoro L'Antica Scuderia offers a delightful dining experience with excellent service in a charming setting. The menu features delicious pasta, including a standout truffle option, and well-recommended wine pairings. Guests can savor an array of truffle and beef dishes, such as the cheese antipasto and mushroom ravioli. The restaurant is known for accommodating special occasions like wedding celebrations, creating custom menus, and even crafting beautiful wedding cakes for photo opportunities.
Unusual combinations of food, but great quality. Had steak with juniper. The stuffed onions were surprisingly excellent. The lemon ricotta and ragu worked perfect. I'd go back just for those. The meat was cooked nicely. A dining room with some shared tables. We met another couple and chatted which was good. We were too full for dessert extensive wine list. Very good service

Best lunch I've had during my vacation. Super food, very friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. I had the tortolini with ricotta and as dessert the cheesecake with grapes. Wow.

My husband and I had our wedding celebration dinner here last week with a small group. The chef created a special menu, accommodated all of our group’s food allergies, ensured the atmosphere was perfect, and even made us a wedding cake for photo purposes. It was truly magical (both the food and the atmosphere). We loved every moment and are so grateful to the restaurant staff for making our dinner so special and memorable. 🥰

La Locanda Di Pietracupa is a charming rural restaurant and B&B nestled in the heart of San Donato in Poggio, surrounded by the beautiful Chianti landscape. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere and serves delicious Tuscan dishes prepared by skilled chefs. Guests can enjoy dining in the spacious glass-enclosed winter garden during the winter months. The property also features four refined rooms, a garden terrace, and complimentary breakfast for guests.
Such a great restaurant, we had an incredible evening. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly to us and made us feel very welcome. We had the tasting menu which was good and very opulent, their wine menu is also great with many local wines, also natural ones.
Arnika Z — Google review
I only visited the restaurant. I tried the fritto della locanda. It is impossible to taste anything because of the amount of salt. The plate looks like something from KFC, but is 4x as expensive and worse in taste. Would not recommend.
Jorun V — Google review
We had a horrible dinner before coming here, so we were hoping to redeem our evening with some dessert and coffee at La Locanda. Sadly, we were treated poorly because we were not ordering dinner. I worked in hospitality for 15 years, and would never change my level of service, regardless of what was being ordered. We likely would have returned here for a full meal during the remainder of our visit to Chianti, but since the staff was very rude, we will certainly not return. The stars are only for the dessert, as it was very unique and delicious.

Great family run Tuscan guesthouse with an amazing restaurant downstairs! The perfect place to experience great quality local food & wine with wonderful Tuscan hospitality! Thoroughly recommended if you’re looking to get away from busy city life and enjoy a nice glass of wine.

Had a wonderful dinner. A touch of more expensive than other restaurants, but food was phenomenal.

I come here regularly – and every time, I’m amazed. The truffle pasta has become a tradition for me, and it’s simply divine. The waiters are exceptionally attentive, friendly, and offer excellent recommendations – the wine choices, like the Bucciarelli Chianti Classico Riserva, have always been spot on. La Locanda di Pietracupa is a truly special place: elegant yet never pretentious. You can feel the dedication of the two female chefs in every dish. It’s a place to enjoy, to relax – right in the heart of Chianti. Absolutely recommended!

We stumbled across this great restaurant on a longer drive. Ambitious cooking making great pasta with their own signature going outside the otherwise, good but repetitive, local pasta served everywhere else. Very fresh and tasty pastas beautifully presented. We had lunch but on the backside there seems to be a larger terrace with great views of the hills.
