The ChangYu Wine Culture Museum is a captivating destination located in Yantai, China, that beautifully chronicles the evolution of winemaking from the 18th to the 21st century. Nestled within an impressive guild hall constructed between 1884 and 1906 by immigrants from Fujian, this museum showcases not only the rich history of Changyu Winery but also highlights China's intricate relationship with global wine culture.
Be prepared to spend couple hours exploring Changyu Wine Culture Museum, established in 1992. It has large underground cellars (build in 1894) storing 600 wine barrels 15000 liters each in size. (see photos) Large collection of fine wines in beautiful bottles are offered in giftshop.

I was here with a tour group in late April 2016. I had a good feel of what mainland Chinese wine cellars looked like. Many of the information there were dated and I was surprised that the brand did not seem to be able to expand its market despite its historical edge!

Thanks to the wonderful students, people and city of Yantai for letting me experience a fascinating museum that reflects the wonderful, but complex relationship between China and the world. The Germans gave China the gift of modern wine production. With it, the hard work and ingenuity allowed Chinese people to expand and improve the wines over the years. The museum is a gem- as great an experience as the Napa Valley vineyards or the caves of Epernay. Special thanks to SDIBT, which invited me in March 2016 to teach a course on Real Estate and finance. The students were bright and the hospitality was epic. I hope to return soon to teach (and learn ) again. Yantai was once an American navy base until 1938. I can imagine that the American missionaries, traders and military enjoyed the hospitality. The city has many things to see and I hope to see it in the summer some day when the beaches are full.

Super rubbish. Even though it's for free. Nothing real inside. If u want to waste 1 hour of ur life. Go a head. Many text without correct English translation or even don't have. My best recomandation for this is just bomb the building and make a new one.

If you find yourself in Yantai, make sure to stop by Penglai Chun, a delightful eatery that offers an impressive array of dishes rooted in history. The restaurant is adorned with vibrant photos showcasing each ingredient and cooking method, making it easy for non-Chinese speakers to navigate the menu. Known for its fresh ingredients, the food here is simply delicious! You can indulge in traditional old vegetable dishes that date back to the Lu Dynasty—once served as gifts to Emperor Qin Shi Huang.
(Translated by Google) You can order even if you don’t know Chinese. The walls are full of photos of each ingredient and cooking method, so you won't have any trouble ordering. The menu is quite diverse, and probably because it is made with fresh ingredients, the dishes are generally delicious. Penglaichun is said to be a place where you can enjoy a variety of old vegetable dishes, which were developed in the Lu Dynasty to serve as a gift to Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Although I went there without prior information and only ate the foods I was familiar with, the taste was excellent. Since it's located in Yantai, I tried to order Yantae Gaoryangju together... but it seems like they don't enjoy Yeontae Gaoryangju here. There is none. So, I enjoyed a delicious dinner with other Kaoliang wines. If I have the chance to go to Yeontae again, I would like to stop by again and enjoy other menus.

When you open the door, there are stairs next to a small, dark space, and the stairs were also dark, so I thought it was closed. I was just going to come in, but when I went up just in case, it was open. Since I was alone, I ordered cherry tangsuyuk and some kind of noodle dish. The tangsuyuk was a little different from what we were used to, but the texture and taste were okay. And since I was alone, I had most of it left, so I took it home, but it was still delicious even when it got cold. The noodle dish was a little ambiguous. The staff were generally friendly.^^ (Original)
