Saint Simons Island

St. Simons is an island off the Georgia coast. It’s known for its salt marshes and sandy stretches like East Beach. A museum traces the history of St. Simons Lighthouse, rebuilt in 1872 after it was destroyed in the Civil War. Anglers fish off nearby St. Simons Pier, which offers views of Jekyll Island and migrating whales. North, boats travel to Little St. Simons Island, home to birds like spoonbills and gannets.

Barbecue restaurant
Southern Soul Barbeque is a popular BBQ joint located on St. Simons Island, housed in a former gas station. It has gained recognition for its oak-smoked meats and specialties, with accolades from Southern Living Magazine and restaurant critic Bill Addison. The menu features pulled pork sandwiches, beef brisket, ribs, and smoked turkey breast. Conveniently situated at the Demere Road roundabout upon entering the island, it has been a beloved spot since its inception in 2006.
Great place to go. They have lunch special that great deal. The bbq has great flavor. We had most of items and everything was great. A must stop in island!

Really good food and welcoming service. I had the turkey plate and I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was tender and the vinegar on the side was flavorful. Loved to okra and our son enjoyed the hotdog and fries. Husband said the pulled pork was good. We missed the gift shop but maybe next time. Also forgot to ask what the deal was with the license plates?! Pretty neat decor.

We went on a Saturday. I have wanted to try their Flavored wings for sometime. We got three out of the four flavors offered. Every time we get the wings to go, Maui flavored are sold out. Describe... Odd the charts delicious! Smoky, tasty, sweet and spicy!! They are meaty and you get alot for your money!

Locals recommended this place to us. We had an amazing smoked turkey breast and their Cuban sandwich. Sides Brunswick stew a must try and the Mac and Cheese! Great areas to sit outside and enjoy this beautiful spring weather.

This places is a namesake and it makes sense. It is good. It is well known. And it is fun. It wasn’t my favorite bbq ever. I got the sampler platter with pork and brisket. They both were a little dry sadly. I had collards and Brunswick stew as sides. The stew was the best thing I had. My friend ordered the prime rib special with hoppin jones and Mac n cheese. The prime rib was huge and pretty tasty. The sides were just ok. I do think this place is a good place to go. Huge portions and it is popular for a reason. We got there right at 11 and by the time we left there was already a line. Worth a try for sure. I just wouldn’t say it is my favorite and I have had better.

Decided to grab lunch here while I was shopping on St Simons Island and I must say, it was phenomenal. I had the Soul Sandwich (jumbo pulled pork sandwich) with sweet sauce and hot sauce with a side of BBQ baked beans. I really enjoyed all of it. The staff was friendly, and even though the line was out the door, my wait was not too long. Pricing is on par with what you would expect from this type of restaurant. I think I paid about $20 (that was with a tip). Will be back!

No visit to Saint Simons Island would be complete without a stop here for at least one meal. Southern Soul is an institution in this town and rightfully so. The food is excellent and plentiful. The daily special is a chopped pork sandwich, fries and a drink. Only $10. It was more food than we could eat. We got the 'sweet' sauce out of a choice of four choices. We noticed that this is the sauce that most of the local ask for. The walls are covered with magazine articles that have featured this place. By all means eat here!

Restaurant
Cafe
Palmer's Village Cafe is a bustling eatery known for its unique, homestyle breakfast and lunch fare. Whether you're a local or tourist, this spot is perfect for starting your day with hearty southern-style creations. The Texas-sized French Toast, topped with bananas and strawberries, is a customer favorite. The menu offers an abundance of options including Challah French toast, granola pancakes, veggie omelette, and Benedicts galore.
We've been to Palmer's a few times, and it's a great breakfast spot. Yes, they can be very busy, and depending on how close you are to the door, it can be very disruptive. But the staff is friendly and the service is fast. We love the biscuits, and the way they cook their eggs is perfect. Definitely will visit again.
Jean R — Google review
Is it worth the 20-30 minute wait or early wake-up call? Umm, yeah!! If you are looking for a tasty fulfilling breakfast in a quaint causual setting, this is the place to be. With a diverse menu offering, Palmer's Village Cafe is serving traditional and creative meals catered to their southern island residents and guests. Friendly servers provide prompt courteous service to all patrons. Seating is limited. Parties larger than 4, call ahead to notify them you're coming, though they don't take reservations. On street and Lot parking are available along Mallery Street and the surrounding areas.

If u want the best breakfast in St. Simons, this place is it! My wife had the banana pudding pancakes and I had the coastal delight which was awesome. Had great from my waiter. Only thing negative I say is we were seated in the back and it was alittle uncomfortable temp wise but I tell u the food is worth it though
Wesley A — Google review
Very cute and quaint restaurant. We came for breakfast. It was first thing in the morning, around 8 a.m. They opened at 7:30. It was already packed. But we were seated right away. We had the French toast and 2 egg breakfast with the pimento cheese grits bacon, sausage and a biscuit. You can tell that the sausage was homemade. It was very flavorful and delicious. Everything was nice hot and tasty.

Such a great place. Small menu and executed very well. Energy in the restaurant was fantastic. Servers moving none stop helping clear tables and getting people sat. I had their eggs beni over crab cakes. It was delicious. Their tomato soups was amazing.
Orlando A — Google review
Disappointing after reading other reviews. My pancakes were dry and needed extra syrup, while my wife's biscuit was also dry and a little hard. We've had better at Cracker Barrel. I didn't try their signature banana pudding pancakes as too sweet. Maybe other people find Palmer's great, but we found it just ordinary. Service was good and 'atmosphere' was OK, noting special. I wouldn't eat thre again.

Super delicious place, my experience here was super good I ate a omelet with a flavor astonishing that I never tasted before, with good sides and a delicious pancake 🥞 the attention was super good and the prices aceptables, the inside it's really pretty and the baths clean! You feeling in another place when u enter in comparison of the outside street from st simons. Full recommended to any tourist that need a really good breakfast to start your trip in St Simons.

It was really busy, but the time went by quickly. The food was delicious — I ordered the daily special — and the service was excellent!

American restaurant
Halyards Restaurant, located on St. Simons Island, is a laid-back yet chic dining spot known for its upscale, locally sourced seafood and meat dishes. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere with an outdoor lounge area and a come-as-you-are dress code. Despite the casual vibe, the menu offers fine dining options such as seared diver scallops, Georgia shrimp and grits, and grilled steak. The bar serves an eclectic wine list featuring champagne and South African cabernet.
Our entire evening at Halyard’s was phenomenal! We were welcomed with true southern hospitality, amazing customer service, absolutely delicious food. We started out with Brussels sprouts and wedge salad which were fabulous. The main course of lamb chops w/ seared tomatoes and scallions and shrimp & grits. Both were out of this world! We wrapped up the experience with banana pudding and cappuccino. Thank you to the entire Halyard’s team for delivering with excellence once again. Halyard’s is a must every time we visit St. Simons.

We celebrated two birthdays at Halyards, and it was perfect. Friendly greeting as soon as we walked in the door. Seated promptly. It was a busy Saturday night, but the staff didn't miss a beat. Blue Crab Bisque is a must, Delicious!! We had the salmon, shrimp and grits and NY Strip (cut of the day). Everything was cooked perfectly and good sized portions. We even had room to share a kiddie sundae 🍨 which was huge for being a 'kiddie' sundae. Thomas was our server, we didn't want for anything. He took great care of us. Highly recommend. We'll definitely be back.

Had an absolutely amazing meal on Saturday night at Halyards. My wife and friend are still raving about the meal. Our guest called it a 19 out of 10. It started with the wedge with blue cheese. They both said it was the best blue cheese dressing they've ever tasted. They asked the waitress if they can sell them a jar of it to take home. I had the grouper and it was perfectly prepared while my wife and guest each had a filet.. They both said the seasoning was perfect and cooked to perfection. Even the desserts were amazing. And let's not forget the great service. Serving staff was on top of everything paying attention without being at the table the entire time. Great job Halyards. We will be back.

Friday, 10/24/25, excellent service and meals thanks to the top service from the staff. A particular thank you to Katherine D for her engaging personality and hard work. First time but definitely not the last time I have had fish ice cream cones. Unique creativity is appreciated.

Extremely wonderful experience! Service was fabulous. Food was even better. Tied for my favorite meal while visiting St. Simons. We brought our freshly caught flounder and they cooked to perfection! Appetizers, soup, entree, dessert and wine were fabulous! Highly recommend!

Halyards is a great place to eat whenever you're in St. Simon's Island. The atmosphere is very romantic, and the menu covers all the bases. You will not be disappointed.

Had some Shrimp and Grits from the festival and it was probably some of the worst I’ve ever tasted. I had such high hopes based on the description on the sign. For $16 I expected double than what was in the sampler but that also was not the case. The shrimp were a good size but lacked ANY flavor, and the grits were the worst thing I’ve tasted. They were watered down and literally had none of the things they stated they were supposed to in them. Think watery grit soup without salt even. We also had the brisket sandwich which wasn’t as terrible as the shrimp and grits but that was the entire reason we went to the festival. Very disappointed.
Emily H — Google review
Beautiful presentation, unfortunately the entire party complained that the food was warm not hot. We decided to eat it warm because we had five in our party and we did not want to wait any longer. The food was tasty. The Brussels Sprouts and the calamari, definitely a hit. Our server Gina was amazing. So, shout out to Gina. Next time we are in the area we will return to this restaurant. We will definitely mention to make sure our food is hot

Italian restaurant
Tramici Restaurant is a cozy Italian eatery located in St. Simons Island, GA, offering a warm and inviting dining experience for families and friends. The restaurant is part of the same group as Halyards and prides itself on serving Italian-inspired cuisine sourced from local fishermen and farmers. Diners can enjoy classic dishes such as brick-oven pizza, pasta, antipasto with prosciutto and cheeses, as well as braised short ribs over goat cheese ravioli.
Super friendly! Food was outstanding if k! Gorgonzola pizza was unbelievable truly! Who would have thought to make a crust with cauliflower and put grapes on the pizza! The Basil-gin Rikki hit the spot. The cannoli beat the famous Mike’s Bakery of the North End in Boston.
Derek J — Google review
Let us congratulate the efforts made by individuals providing delicious handmade pasta dishes, wine/libations and delightful customer service because Tramici has done it all. My group enjoyed their meals and our pleasant server was knowledgeable. Atmosphere is contemporary causual, so bring yourself, family or friends for an enjoyable meal. Ample seating is available for parties of 4 or less whether its a booth, table or at the central bar. Call ahead for larger groups. Pricing is comparable to similar restaurants serving Italian cuisine. Plenty of free parking exists around the building as this place located in quaint shopping center.

I love this place! My dish was super fly. The pizza was great, too! I ordered a shrimp piccata, and I got an exotic seasoning free of charge. Even the fly was free!
Persephone B — Google review
Lovely and casual atmosphere, very good choices on the menu that all sound very modern and delicious. I had the special they were running that was balsamic marinated skirt steak with risotto and it was AWESOME. Desserts were also incredible! Tiramisu and canolis were our choices. You have to try the tiramisu! Our server Marley was so kind and helpful, talked so well with our child too. I really admire that in a server 💗 thank you guys so much!

My wife and I were in town for a conference and decided to have dinner at Tramici. I ordered the chop—either lamb or pork (I honestly can’t remember)—but whatever it was, it was fantastic. For the first time ever, I ended up with a dish my wife liked more than her own. She ordered the ravioli, which was definitely more creative than traditional. While I thought it was well-prepared, she tends to prefer more classic flavors and wasn’t a big fan. That said, the quality was still there—it just came down to personal preference. Overall, we both enjoyed the experience. Great food, inviting atmosphere, and I would definitely recommend Tramici to anyone visiting the area.

I returned to this restaurant from when I visited the area 11 years ago. I recounted to Katelyn, our server what happened 11 years ago that when the manager found out we were recently married, she comped our meal. Katelyn loved the story and gave us the excellent service, recommendations and meal that was the best meal we had while on the island. Katelyn is a true gem and she made our meal even more special when she said since we were celebrating an anniversary she sent dessert home for the four of us to enjoy. This restaurant and Katelyn are wonderful. Visit soon. You will not be disappointed.

We always enjoy a night out at Tramici. The dining room is lovely with a lively central bar. Servers and bartenders are true professionals. The food is spot on. Everything is delicious from appetizers to salads, entrees, and desserts. Wonderful wine selection. Highly recommend this Italian gem.

The restaurant is very nice, the lunch menu is small in comparison to the dinner but the food was delicious. Especially the pizza. Definitely a must try. Although our server did not stand out we had a good time and will be back.

Restaurant
Porch is a charming eatery located in the heart of Saint Simons Island Village, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Guests can choose to dine at outdoor picnic tables within the fenced-in property, on the traditional screened-in porch, or indoors.
We really enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere was great. The wait time wasn’t bad to order. The food came out quickly. Everything was good. The food was seasoned very well and you got nice portion sizes. This place was definitely a vibe! So glad we dined here.
Valencia T — Google review
Love the atmosphere and vibes! Tenders, catfish, pimento grits and Mac n cheese were THE BEST! Cocktail sauce was delicious! Fried shrimp was good but could be seasoned a bit more, baked beans were bland to be maple flavored. Looking forward to trying new dishes and sides next visit!
Anna C — Google review
I’m honestly not sure how we stumbled upon The Porch… but I’m SO happy we did! Oh. My. God. — the chicken is everything: juicy, crispy, perfectly saucy! And the best part? You don’t even need to go full Nashville Hot if spice isn’t your thing — they’ve got delicious non-spicy options too. I ordered 2 Nashville dark leg quarter with pimento mac and cheese and collard greens. The collard greens was the star of the show, it was insanely good! My husband went with the novice shrimp platter and he really enjoyed it. Even my daughter’s kids’ chicken tenders were huge and tasty! Overall, this spot is solid, highly recommend checking it out for yourself! The only downside is calling in an order… I kept getting put on hold forever, so definitely bring some patience. And I did not like the catfish taco at all. The catfish lacked seasoning. But all in all? The Porch delivers pretty awesome food in a great location.
Mrs. C — Google review
We were in the area and had to stop because we love DDD and found out Guy stopped here. We had the chicken tenders and fried shrimp. Also had fries, tots, Mac N Cheese and brussell sprouts. Everything was fantastic, best thing to me was the fried shrimp with tasted fresh and had great flavor. Only downside was the Mac was not very hot and flavor was lacking. Staff is super nice. Tons of seating. Prices are fair. Atmosphere is great. I want to come back again and try more things.
Wade — Google review
The food was great, and we loved the "porch" vibe and atmosphere! I loved that they highlighted which options were gluten free and vegan/vegetarian, as I can't eat wheat or dairy so it makes eating out challenging, but they made it easy! I had roasted chicken (Nashville hot) with brussel sprouts and tried collard greens for the first time ever. The brussel sprouts were the best I've had in my entire life!!! The chicken was amazing as well, but if you want spicy, maybe choose the Napalm heat, the Nashville wasn't spicy at all to me, but the flavor was great!!! And the prices were pretty great!
Padma D — Google review
We really enjoyed the our meals. I wish I had known the spice level was based on a paprika. The novice was good but Nashville overpowered any taste of chicken at all. We all agreed we would return and just have the fish, shrimp, and chicken without any “heat.”
Barbie T — Google review
This chicken shack rocks! The prices are perfectly economical for the amount of food served. They have $6 frozen rose drinks on Fridays that were scrumptious. Dine inside or outside and you can play bags while waiting for your food, although the wait is pretty quick. Highly recommend this joint for a quick midday meal or for a couple cocktails before heading out in the village.
Hunter G — Google review
Porch on St. Simons Island delivers a knockout with its Nashville-style hot shrimp. These fresh, wild-caught Georgia shrimp are fried to a golden crisp, coated in a fiery cayenne-based spice blend that balances heat with a subtle sweetness. Offered in four heat levels—Naked, Novice, Nashville, or NaPalm—the Nashville option delivers a bold kick that satisfies spice lovers without overwhelming. Served with creamy coleslaw, fries, and white bread, the generous portion feels like a true Southern feast. The casual, family-friendly vibe, with its iconic wraparound porch and lawn games like cornhole, creates a relaxed coastal backdrop. Service is quick and friendly, though ordering can feel rushed during peak times. For a zesty, beachside twist on Nashville’s classic heat, Porch’s hot shrimp is a must-try, earning rave reviews for flavor and atmosphere.
