The Butler Institute of American Art is a museum that features American art from four centuries. It offers guided tours, art classes, and event space. The museum showcases innovative, unique, and beautiful pieces of art that are enjoyable for both adults and children who love art museums. Admission is free but visitors may leave a donation in the box in the entryway. The staff includes Monica who adds to the great experience as she is a beautiful soul with whom one can interact while visiting the museum.
I was pleasantly surprised. The museum is beautiful. It locates in t University campus where parking is hard. It has free parking lot for museum patrons. Appreciate the wonderful experience.

Really enjoyed visiting. Surprised at the many treasures to be found there. Particularly, Chuck Olson's exhibit made the 1-hour drive worthwhile.
RhodainPgh — Google review
Excellent FREE art museum. It has so much American art here, it is hard to believe it is free to view. See Rockwell, O’Keefe and many more. Free parking lot and easy to access next to the YSU Campus.

Today was the first time in over 20 years that I visited this art museum, and I really loved how much information was given about the exhibits, especially the paintings. The statue in the Brown Gallery with the “Art” name tag was so realistic that me and my friend thought it was an actual real security guard! Also, this museum has free admission, and there are many signs throughout the museum telling people not to touch the artworks, especially for younger children.
Sara — Google review
Amazing. We got here as soon as they opened and immediately were given a map and some tips on how to best experience the museum. Employees are amazing. The art is so interesting. Free entry is such a treat. You have to stop if you're in the area.
Fran O — Google review
FREE! I cannot rave enough about this museum - the artwork and interactive displays are incredible. Free parking, elevators, gift shop and a coffee shop! Absolutely wonderful!
ALisa H — Google review
What a wonderful art museum. It’s laid out very well, so it’s easy to navigate and enjoy. They have a broad collection of American art and a surprisingly large amount of pieces from famous artists. The folk art wing was very nice, and the view over the inside of the church was a treat too. I’d definitely recommend anyone who enjoys art to stop by.
Sierra K — Google review
This museum is amazing. It is definitely worth a visit. So many different genres and multiple levels to explore. Allow yourself at least 2 hours if you want to enjoy the experience. There are two gift shops. Off street parking and close to many restaurants.

The Ward Beecher Planetarium, situated on the campus of Youngstown State University in Ohio, is a renowned facility for space exploration. With state-of-the-art technology and mesmerizing views of the skies, it captivates visitors of all ages. What makes it even more appealing is that admission to all events is free. The planetarium has been open to the public for 50 years and offers informative shows and field trip programs year-round.
Showed up for a 2 o'clock show. The show was filled per our arrival. The crew passed out crayons, papers, and opened extra seating to hold all of us over for an extra show they would run at 3 o clock right after the 2 o'clock full show. Talk about above and beyond way to go curt and crew at the planetarium. Thanks again 👍👍 always curtious and fun here .

What a great place to enjoy and learn. Free.

Engaging, educational but fun, very exciting if a wizarding fan and you go on wizarding weekend. But really all the shows are good. We always learn something new.
J S — Google review
The only local planetarium, so it's a good experience. Strange hours because it's actually a classroom at YSU. But they open it to the public as well. It's not a huge place, and the show became boring compared one I saw in Cleveland. But good for kids, a cheap, fun, educational day, great event for a Saturday in the middle of winter.
Amber C — Google review
Great shows for all ages. My daughter is three and enjoys the shows as much as me and my husband. And the shows are all free!
Emmanuelle T — Google review
First time here and we enjoyed it will go again for other shows

The museum also features craft and accessibility exhibits, as well as a maker space on the bottom floor. Kids of different ages can enjoy their stay at the museum with plenty to do for everyone. Visitors are reminded to follow the mask-wearing rule that is in place for everyone's safety and convenience.
This was my second visit, but my grandsons first. He loved it. There is so much to do. I can't wait to see what gets added. Street parking was full but there are a few handicaps close if anyone needs one. We used a lot on the one way street behind oh wow. $7 all day parking. It's a cold walk around in the winter but plenty of places for coats including lockers. $10 admission for adults. I Can't remember for children.
Theressa L — Google review
There are a few fun things to do here. The rock wall was her favorite! The driving a plane is ok, the making of the planes is cool!! My daughter made a 3d castle, was told it may take overnight to make after my daughter already made it. The nice lady told me and Daughter she would start it in the morning.... so i called the next day in the afternoon to see if we could come down to get and let my daughter play, but it was not ready yet. 5 days later wanted to take my daughter here to play and pick up the print out and still not done. I live over 30 miles away.**** Update on the 3d print in the comments
Tiffany P — Google review
Super nice and helpful staff! Loved all the exhibits and that there is a restroom on each floor. Would come back again! Was not crowded on a Saturday and we got in for free with our carnegie museum membership!
Casandra W — Google review
My five year old daughter spent almost four hours here. The arts and crafts room was her favorite and was very popular with kids. There are so many neat activities for a wide range of ages. $20 for both of us. Overall clean and the sensory room was a great touch to help kids calm in a very sensory loaded environment. Parking was the only negative. I paid $5 for all day down the street instead of metered 1hr parking.
Psalms 1 — Google review
This is such a great place to take the kids. We got our passes from the library (you borrow the backpack from your local library when available, then have one week to use 4 free passes for one visit). So if you have multiple children and it gets expensive paying for everyone, then it's definitely worth the wait to get the library passes. There are many activities for kids of any age. At our most recent visit, I noticed the place is beginning to show some signs of age. Some of the exhibits are missing pieces or broken. Still definitely worth a trip. We got 2 hours out of the lower and main levels, and then the kids loved the maze on the upper level so much, we spent another hour with them running through that.
Stephanie N — Google review
Lots of fun for kiddos, however I think they should add some more things! Overall, it was pleasant, and a little loud.
Lauren M — Google review
Lots of fun. Took my 2 year old toddler. He had a blast playing in the water table and the air tubes. Plenty to do for kids of most ages
Robert P — Google review
Lady at the front desk was super nice. Had a great time. Only thing I'd suggest after 2 kids and my own hitting there heads on the fiber glass little door by light curtians in the peaceful ✌ room is to make it maybe 5 inches taller, or put a swimming noodle on it. But my daughter not even 2 yet, so sues not tall amd it's see through so it's hard not to hit it when your walking out and it's dark. Other then that, it was worth a trip to go check out.

This place is a hidden gem! The lush greenery and stunning scenery make it the perfect spot for a refreshing escape. Highly recommended for nature lovers looking to unwind in a beautiful, tranquil setting!

Beautiful, peaceful park with lots of trails, water spots, benches along trails, wildlife, peaceful stops throughout. Recommend stopping at Lily pond and get a trail map from kiosk near water fountain. It's so large an area it'll take more than one visit to hike it all.

The gardens feature a wide variety of flora, including roses, seasonal annuals, perennials, and flowering bulbs. Visitors can enjoy the vibrant displays of over 40,000 multicolored bulbs that bloom each spring across the expansive grounds. The perennial border walk showcases an impressive rose collection and provides a romantic setting for couples to stroll hand in hand.
I absolutely love photographing weddings here! So many different photo locations to choose from and the staff is always so nice. It’s always kept looking beautiful with seasonal plants and flowers🌸

Any time of the year is a great time to visit Fellows Riverside Gardens. Take a magical stroll through absolute beauty! Lots of events are planned throughout the year. The evening walk through to see the Jack o lanterns and Christmas lights are a definite highlight. I’ve been there by myself to take some time to reflect and I’ve gone with friends and family to share the beauty. It’s also a great place for photography. The Gardens are closed on Monday so make sure you plan another day.

Absolutely one of the most beautiful venues for a wedding! Our ceremony was held in the rose gardens, and our reception was in the hall on the lower level of the building. The entire staff was so friendly and helpful, and all our guests loved how convenient everything was. There's so many spots around the gardens for photos, and it's large enough that we were able to have 100+ guests attend the ceremony. Inside, we had 200 comfortably. And, last but not least, the food from Inspired by Kravitz was very good! We had ZERO complaints about anything!
Luke — Google review
Always a beautiful walk through the gardens. It helps me to reset my mind and enjoy the fresh air. I love to use Google images and discover the names of flowers and plants. The best part is seeing all the pollinators! 🦋🐝

Beautiful free gardens, art gallery and cafe! It was a fantastic pit stop between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Good place to stretch your legs, have a snack and learn about the area. The grounds were partially under construction for expansion to add a children's garden. The regional flora representation is impressive. The only drawback was the lack of clear signage for the perennialsand trees. Many of the signs were for spring bulbs that were out of season. A curiosity is the sculptures in the top corner beyond the mall. They were beautiful but had no plaques to indicate the artist.
Carly C — Google review
End of October and still so many flowers in bloom! There were 2 wedding services and at least 3 groups taking wedding pictures.
Judith H — Google review
Beautiful, well kept. A bit worn down by heat and drought at this time of year (August) but still well worth seeing. Loved all the benches provided in various nooks.

The extensive assortment of toppings available at Suzie's Dogs And Drafts is truly impressive. There is a wide range of options to choose from, ensuring that customers can find just about anything they desire. It is unfortunate, however, that they no longer offer crickets as one of their toppings. In addition to the savory dog choices, such as ones with cheese and irradiated slaw, Suzie's also offers a dessert dog.
Absolutely fantastic place. Great food. Great beer. Great service and great prices. Their hot dogs are truly fantastic!! So many toppings available and most of which are free to add to your dog. We enjoyed playing on the games at the arcade corner too. I wish they'd open a location in or closer to Akron! But I will definitely make that drive JUST to go there again P.s GET the crickets!!!

These dogs are great! Very customizable with many, many toppings to choose from, both traditional and a little different (peanut butter, fruity pebbles, spaghetti Os, etc) Cori was a great server, there to answer any questions and very cheerful

Great atmosphere even if it's trying to pander to the hipster crowd. Good local live entertainment and friendly staff. No yungling bottles though, only cans...

My first time and I ordered take-out, 2 hotdogs with sauerkraut. I didn't want to order too much since I didn't know what to expect. Wow! They were devine, top of the kraut dog line. I can't wait to try one of their specialty dogs. This from a girl who has only put the basics on her dog.

Restaurant
Wine bar
V2 Wine Bar and Trattoria in downtown Youngstown is an impressive establishment with delicious cuisine. The food at this restaurant is exceptionally flavorful, particularly the sausage and beans dish. However, it should be noted that the delectable food can also be unexpectedly challenging to handle, akin to a provoked Baltic grandmother. Despite this, the overall dining experience receives solid ratings; 8/10 as a whole and a perfect 10/10 for taste.
Visited for my husband’s graduation. He was not fond of his dish. It was very bland and no flavor. It was a shrimp Alfredo dish. It’s pictured below. I on the other hand had a dessert wrap with antipasta on the side and it was delicious. We also shared the stuffed peppers which were so good. We had a young Australian man as our server. Everything was great
Victoria G — Google review
The food was great! We order Pasta, burger, chicken and calamari and we all love our food! My favorite was Calamari!! My husband said his dish (pasta) was really really good. The meat ball was the best part. Everything was nice but our server forgot us sometimes, we asked for bread and butter after we ordered, she never came back, we wait for our food for almost 30mins. When she came back I asked for the bread again and she said they don't have bread, just pita/flat bread. Well.....
Navapat K — Google review
Me and my wife have ordered pizza here a few times and it was very good. Tonight we ordered a Margherita pizza and an Arugula & Prosciutto Pizza. The Margherita was okay but the Arugula Prosciutto looked like it was put together by a child. They piled so much arugula on it that it looked like a salad. Kinda disappointing.
John L — Google review
We came in here because Federal was closed for a private event. We got the fried calamari, which was AMAZING and the best calamari I've probably ever had. It was drizzled with a sweet chili glaze or something. Then we both got pizzas: I got the special, a blackened chicken and vodka pie, and my husband got the Vernon pie. My pizza was ok. Technically, it was perfect. Good crust, good structure, good gooeyness. But the vodka sauce in mine did not taste like a true vodka sauce, and tasted more of the chicken. But I am biased and haven't found a vodka sauce better than my favorite spot in New York City. This was a very nice place to eat, and if we were in town for longer than a night, I'd come back and try more items off the menu (other patrons got burgers that looked really good).

What a fantastic place in downtown Youngstown. The food was so fresh and so tasty. It was incredible. If you’re ever in downtown Youngstown or near the area, you have to go to V2 restaurant. Great service, great atmosphere, great ownership. Wow these meatballs are fantastic!! You’ll love them!!

My wife and I made a last minute decision to eat dinner at the V2 Wine Bar. The restaurant was very nice. Warm and inviting. The staff was friendly and responsive. Food and drinks were great. One Our dinner was early; at 5 pm, in advance of an evening concert at the Youngstown Amphitheater. We ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer. When asked, our server, Shelby, said there were on the smaller size. They were really good. Had a mild spice to them, which I like. My wife ordered the meatball melt, which she raves about. I had the shrimp scampi, a special for the evening. The scampi was fresh and good but could have used a little more garlic. I would order it again. My wife also ordered a lemontini and followed that with a pomegranate martini. I had a Makers and coke. The drinks were all really good. The only detractor was the NOISE. IT WAS REALLY LOUD. Not a little loud…. A lot loud… to the extent that as soon as our dinner was complete, we couldn’t wait to get out. It was good but the noise was nearly unbearable. We were seated in the front by the front door. It might be more tolerable in one of the back rooms. Our bill was $95 which I consider very reasonable for the food and drinks ordered.
David R — Google review
The worst place to have a rehearsal dinner! The manager, Harley does not have good people skills and is very rude. She did not realize that my call was not on hold and when they went to go get her and tell her I was on the phone in regards to my daughter‘s rehearsal dinner she said she didn’t want to deal with me. I called her five days prior to the dinner because she did not return my email as she requested me to email. The room that we had the dinner did not accommodate 35 people whatsoever and they decided to stop serving our pizza at their leisure. the wine was not put out as we discussed in the email And God forbid the bartender would attend to our guest in getting their drinks. I think McDonald’s would have done better with all that said the pizza were pretty good but not good enough to put up with that nonsense. I called to speak to the owner and I am still waiting for that call back
Diana S — Google review
My parents and I hated it here. We went on a Friday night and it was vacant... Didn't see why until we got our food. The edamame hummus was a rip off — I was amazed that this place had the guts to serve such a feeble scoop of it of it and charge $12. The "blackened" chicken had zero flavor, and the greens I ordered on the side were no better either. Why not just serve popcorn and scrap the menu? I'm sure most of the people are here for drinks instead, but still. Whatever, at least our server was nice.

Great place. Went there on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Friendly atmosphere, great waitress, and fantastic food! Recommend the street corn dip and the veggie enchiladas!

I can not express enough how amazing this place is....the food is phenomenal, the restaurant atmosphere is great too. But what really is the hidden gem is the staff...they truly go above and beyond for each of their guests. I hosted a large party there this weekend on a Saturday night...and everyone that came with me had an amazing time...each and everything thing we ordered was better than the next. Everyone took such great care of us, I even had the opportunity to meet the owner and he was so very nice and really runs an amazing restaurant. Melissa took AMAZING care of us and really listened and made the experience so enjoyable. When in doubt of what to order....ask your server they made some amazing rec's and I wish they could open a restaurant just like this in my city (we were there for an event). Thank you for everything and truly if you get the chance or are thinking of going....RUN....its AMAZING... PS STILL DREAMING ABOUT THE FOOD.....

Italian restaurant
Cassese's MVR is a lively Italian restaurant and bar that has been a staple in Youngstown since 1927. It offers a wide range of classic Italian dishes, sandwiches, and specials. The restaurant also features outdoor dining and bocce courts for entertainment. Despite the closure of many upscale restaurants in the city, Cassese's MVR continues to thrive as an independent establishment.
MVR is an absolute gem for Italian food lovers in Youngstown! I recently grabbed the Tressel tortellini to go, and it was fantastic. The tortellini was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Every bite was a comforting reminder of why MVR is such a beloved spot. Even though it was a to-go order, the food was packaged well and still hot by the time I got home. The staff was friendly and efficient, making the pickup process a breeze. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their menu—next time, maybe I’ll stay to soak in the restaurant’s ambiance. Highly recommend!

Descent Italian food bit service wasn't the best. Messed up 2 food orders, but it was Saturday night, so I understand how busy it was and how much more stress it adds. Might try it again next time we are in town.

The service was friendly. Our server continued to check in and was hospitable. The food was great. The blacken chicken was well seasoned and the house salad dressing was delicious. Upon leaving the restarting, a staff member helped up walk out to the door to ensure my companion was able to get into the car as she had challenges walking. Wow!

Stopped in on a very busy night due to a concert. Completely understand that staff was not 100% due to a ton of people. Food was good pizza was amazing. Glad we stopped I .

We had a great experience with our son's rehearsal dinner here. Even with two different events and regular Friday night patrons, Joe was able to run a smooth operation. Our attendant for the night, Summer, was awesome. With 46 people in attendance, she made sure food and drinks were readily available. We had the Trussel tortellini, spicy bowtie, salad, bread, chicken francese, and steamed broccoli. The kitchen staff are commendable in their efforts. Well done and well pleased.
Jason K — Google review
I've been coming to the MVR since I was in college and it has never disappointed, so when needing a venue for my daughter's grad party, I knew the MVR would be a great choice. The food here has always been incredible, but I was also blown away by the service as well! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and made sure everything was taken care of and as stress free as possible for us, which is no simple task with a grad party of our size (about 175 guests). Did I already mention the food? It's a day later and we're still hearing from our guests about how good the food was. Great experience, great food, highly recommend the MVR!

Delicious Tortellini. The sauce was sooo good and plenty of it too. The Italian salad dressing was delicious. Tasted home made. The Hells Shells were also delicious with Spicy peppers on top of a generous portion of home made sauce that covered all of the shells. Perfect for dipping the Italian bread in. If you want home made Italian food cooked right then this is the place. They don’t skimp on the portion sizes or the amount of sauce on the food either. Go there! Eat well!

Burger King is a popular fast-food chain renowned for its delicious grilled burgers, crispy fries, and creamy shakes. While the downtown Warren location faced challenges and closed in November 2022, many fans still cherish their experiences at various outlets. Diners often rave about the steaming hot burgers and fresh onion rings that come straight from the grill. Customer service can vary; some patrons have noted friendly staff members who work diligently even during busy hours, while others have encountered less enthusiastic interactions at times.
My burger was steaming hot off the grill, my onion rings were fresh out of the oil. There was a big in my cup of water but besides that.... The customer service was great from the white lady that was prepping/packing bags but the black lady on the drive thru seemed like she had a little attitude when she took my order. I came in at 2:21pm today. I think the drink machine needs to be cleaned though. I used to work at Burger King around 2008 in Astoria Queens... I love Burger King 👑

I ordered the whopper junior and the big fish. I think there were only two people working so the service was a little slow, but the server was very friendly.

Worst drive through service of any BK I've been to yet. I worked at a Burger King and Pennsylvania years ago and would have immediately been fired for being speaking to any customer so rudely not to mention having us sit at the drive through order screen for 25min refusing to take our order so they wouldn't mess up their stats for speedy service. Absolutely ridiculous, won't return that's for sure.
Brittany L — Google review
I mean, Burger Kings are pretty much the same everywhere, this one tends to screw my order up every time I go there but it's the only one nearby. It's pretty crazy that they always screw up my order when I order nothing out of the ordinary. Like when I specifically say Whopper with cheese, and they don't put cheese on it. Or they give me the core of the lettuce on my sandwich or the top of the tomato every time for some reason it's like they know I'm there and want to save that top piece of the tomato for me. Maybe it's just my luck though. The food is fresh I will say that it's just they have a hard time getting it correct.
Matt B — Google review
Truly I'm a DoorDash driver& I give props where they're deserved bc the STAFF are working harder, dealing w long lines & impatient folks. I'm largely vegan, so no BK, maybe some 🍟. The food for my customers is always 🥵 & fresh!

Every time I go to this particular store my order gets screwed up. On today’s date I went to the drive thru and sat for about 7 minutes with no one saying anything and then when I said hello the woman responded. I ordered two simple sandwiches and an onion ring. This is definitely my last time visiting this location! Last time I ordered 2 rodeo burgers and literally got one and just a bun for the second

Worst drive through of any Burger King I have ever went through. I know that they are reviewed on their service time but to have someone sit in their drive through for 25 minutes refusing to take your order so their time looks like fast service is absolutely ridiculous.

The last 2 times I've been here the girl who took my order was a bit rude and intentionally loud. Also my food has taken quite some time to come out and has had so much condiments on it its inedible without trying to remove most of it. I wont be returning.
