Tallulah Falls

Tallulah Falls is a Victorian-era resort town in Georgia and the gateway to Tallulah Gorge State Park. Trails in the park skirt the rim of Tallulah Gorge or descend to its floor, where the Tallulah River flows. Waterfalls, including the dramatic Hurricane Falls, cascade into the river, which is spanned by a suspension bridge. Jane Hurt Yarn Interpretive Center has exhibits exploring the area’s history and wildlife.

Tallulah Gorge State Park is a 2739-acre reserve located in Tallulah Falls, Georgia. It features a 1,000-ft. gorge, waterfalls, campgrounds, and a former Victorian resort town. The park's creation was inspired by a highwire walk that garnered significant attention three decades ago.
Tallulah Gorge State Park is an amazing adventure! The hike through the beautiful trails and down to the breathtaking waterfall is unforgettable. The stairs add some excitement and challenge, but it’s totally worth the effort for the incredible views. For anyone with health concerns, I’d recommend skipping the stairs, but everyone else should definitely experience this fantastic place!

This campsite is very nice! The bathrooms were clean and spacious, which we really appreciated. There was some construction happening on the other side, and it looks like a new bathroom facility is coming soon, which is great to see. The trails were beautiful, and all the overlooks had amazing views — perfect for nature lovers. My two fur babies had the best time exploring and enjoying the outdoors! Overall, a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We’re looking forward to coming back!

An amazing state park, with great waterfalls, views, and hiking areas. I lucked out and got to visit on a perfect fall morning with high water flow earlier this month. Great loop trail. If you go down to Hurricane Falls, your legs will be burning by the time you complete the stairs back up to the rim, but it’s 1000% worth it. The suspension bridge is another iconic point in this park. A few notes - after overlook 1, I didn’t find the view at Inspiration Point to be better; it’s not that far further down the trail, but it’s also not necessary. And then the parking area has a gate that isn’t opened until close to opening hours for the visitor center. I showed up early and was surprised to find a locked gate.

Tallulah falls is a bit underwhelming compared to other places for example, Linville Falls in North Carolina. The exhaustion of the steps def was not worth the view at the end. Parking wasn’t free. Overall the trails were maintained, a great amount of diverse people on the trail. Very family friendly. Bridge was nice. If you’re under an hour way I’d recommend but if not, I’d put more time to the drive and go somewhere nicer. I’m from the mtns of North Carolina and NC’s mtns are free and definitely worth the drive and views. If you’re reading this now, it isn’t fully “fall” colored yet just slightly.

Absolutely breathtaking views! This is a must see, photos don’t do it justice. I would recommend good hiking shoes and walking sticks if you plan to go up to the higher look outs. The suspension bridge is awesome although the trek down and back up is definitely a workout. One of the best State Parks I’ve been to! Get there early on the weekends as it fills up and there will be a line to get in.

Tallulah Gorge is absolutely gorgeous, and the hike itself really isn’t difficult if you’re a pretty active person. I kept hearing how challenging it was supposed to be, but it felt super manageable and not intense at all. The trails are well-maintained, the views are amazing, and it’s an easy hike to enjoy without feeling worn out. That said, if you’re more of a beginner or not used to hiking, some parts might feel a bit tougher—but overall it’s totally doable. It’s the perfect spot for soaking in scenery without a crazy workout.

Had so much fun here! Just a heads up... it only cost $5 for us to get in...but the gate at the entrance only accept cash, and ofcourse this was a time we did not have cash. So we had to wait in line to pay using a card at the gift shop. It wasnt terrible, but it did take about 15 out of our time. We did the north and south trails which had amazing views. The trails weren't too difficult... just ALOT of stairs. But it was totally worth it to me. I will be going back to explore more. We spent about 3 hours there, but I would love to just spend a full day there.

Beautiful place to camp. Lots is great trails and if you’re up for it an amazing step machine aka.. the gorge stairs. Nice campground with extremely clean amenities. The gift shop ladies were super helpful and the interactive center is a must!

Hiking area
Hurricane Falls is one of the stunning waterfalls in Tallulah Gorge State Park, Georgia. Along with Tempesta Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Oceana Falls, and LEau dOr Falls, it offers a breathtaking natural spectacle. Most of these falls are visible from rim overlooks and can be reached through hiking trails that lead to prime viewing spots. The 2.
Very beautiful location, but keep in mind that the hike back to the top is extremely steep and strenuous. They have a staircase to make the ground stable, but it still gives you a serious workout. Remember to fill up a water bottle to carry with you.

Tallulah gorge State Park was great. Awesome hiking experience...310 steps down and up from the bridge, not for the weak. Sights were so much better from the over looks 1-10 than pictures will show.

Nice falls at the bottom of the gorge. I didn’t count the steps but there must be at least 1k. Make sure you’re ready for the exit up. Check out the overlooks on the parking lot side then travel down the steps to the bottom. No permit needed for that overlook either. Then travel back to the top on the other side. Check out those overlooks then continue to the vehicle bridge for the great view of the full gorge.

Hurricane Falls is absolutely breathtaking! The powerful waterfall surrounded by lush greenery makes for an unforgettable view. The trail leading there is scenic and adventurous, with great photo spots along the way. A must-see for nature lovers! 🌊💚

An incredibly beautiful place! A tall suspension bridge! I highly recommend it! But be prepared to climb 625 steps down and back up—it's not easy...but it's worth it!
MARIIA B — Google review
Great views, not possible to capture the experience in a photo. Keep in mind you must get there before noon during hot weather as they close the steps.

It was very beautiful. Magnificent views. There were a lot of steps, but we were prepared. It was crowded, but that didn't detract from the wonderful experience. Parking was a bit of a challenge.

One of the most beautiful places in the US. Not for weak and take a bottle of water. Will visit again.

Beautiful lake and great walking / hiking / biking opportunities! Even though it was ultra-cold and I didn't see any on my visit, I'm told it's a great place to kayak and paddle board. Gorgeous scenery!

Great Georgia State park. We camped for three days and hiked into the gorge. We took a ranger lead tour and were glad we did. Lots of fascinating history. An impressive natural geological site.

This is a pretty quiet place and there are nice trails around either to go hiking or biking

I go here as often as possible. This is a beautiful area. This whole area including the gorge is probably one of the most beautiful areas to visit in the southeast. I feel fortunate to live only a 20 minute drive from here.

The Jane Hurt Yarn Interpretive Center serves as the starting point for two trails, including the North Rim trail and the suspension bridge. It is a popular welcome center within Georgia State Parks, featuring a mini-museum that appeals to visitors of all ages. The center offers educational resources, souvenirs, snacks, and restroom facilities. Additionally, it provides informative permit classes for activities like hiking the sliding rock trail.
A great place with great staff. My partner and I hiked sliding rock trail and the required permit class was informative and quite necessary, but the process was easy. The facility was also amazing. I would definitely recommend.

Historical landmark
The hydroelectric facility, Tallulah Falls Dam, offers picturesque trails that provide stunning views of the gorge. The weather is usually perfect, making it an ideal location for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors can explore both the North and South Rim trails, with the Hurricane trail being a particularly challenging option due to its numerous steps. Picturesque wildflowers add to the natural beauty of the surroundings. Additionally, on select weekends each year, extra water is released from the dam to create rapids for kayakers.
Pretty cool spot to stop and check out nice views. Certain weekends each year they will let out extra water from the dam to increase the rapids for the kayakers. There's good parking right next to the dam and you can walk the rim trail from there.

Visited here many years ago, and is still beautiful place.

The south rim trail crosses the bridge that goes over the dam. It’s worth the hike to at least overlook 4. Very beautiful scenery! The lake and the gorge!
Cody D — Google review
We had a pretty good walk on the trails overlooking the gorge. Perfect weather too. We did the North then the South Rim trails. We ended up going to the Hurricane trail which has a lot of steps. 😅 But it was all good. Took a lot of pretty pictures of the beautiful wild flowers. Keep hydrated!

This is actually a nice dan on Tallulah river, it has like 10 gates which were closed when we went there. The dam is right by the 441 highway and but you might not be able to spot it while driving. They have several adventures and attractions here. They also have several trails around the falls.

Very exciting place for outdoor activities, highly recommended!

I visited Tallulah Falls, Georgia to stop at Tallulah Falls Gorge and walk the trail. I chose this location so that I could see five waterfalls at one location. It was the greatest decision ever! I was surprised to come upon a site of the dam but Glory! It was absolutely wonderful and definitely a sight to see. To see man's creation clocked in God's creation was truly magnificent.
