Horai-bashi Bridge, located in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, is a remarkable wooden pedestrian bridge that spans 897 meters over the Oi River. Recognized by Guinness World Records as the longest wooden pedestrian bridge in the world, it offers stunning views of Mount Fuji and allows visitors to enjoy the river's flow and seasonal scenery while strolling across. The bridge provides a unique experience with its gentle wood underfoot and is especially captivating during winter when it offers magnificent views of Mt.
The longest wooden footbridge in the world, we paid the JPY100 fee but I think if you are not paying still no one will care. Luckily we get the view of Mount Fuji but I believe it's nearly impossible to take photos of the bridge and Mount Fuji together like those on the social media. Free parking space nearby and free toilet.

Beautiful bridge, 100 yen entry fee for adults but worth it considering the great view. Nice way to kill time and chill.

I was the only one here. But I wonder at Osaka's EXPO is that now the longest pedestrian wood bridge in the world???

We were tired and hungry as we had toured a lot on the day. However, we decided to see this Horai bridge that’s recorded in Guinness world records. It was fulfilling to finish our walk to the end. We felt like achievers when we finally completed our walk in and out of the bridge🤩 It is recommended to say a word of prayer when you get to the end of the bridge.🙏🏾

Hōrai Bridge is a long wooden bridge located in Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. It crosses the Ōi River and is famous for being one of the longest wooden pedestrian bridges in the world. The bridge is about 897 meters long and was built in 1879.

After the nth time of going here, finally able to crossed the bridge ❤️✨ This bridge is the 1997 Longest Wooden Walking Bridge in the world based on Guinness, and I am so happy to see and experience this in my life 🎌 Also there is a rumor that this bridge, is captured/used as a venue in an anime (not sure). Kudos, Japan on preserving this kind of structure. This is a must experience! ❤️💯

An amazing long wooden bridge. Build in 1879, 879m. Japan's largest wooden pedestrian bridge. Enjoy walking and you can also bring your bicycle. In the other side of the bridge there is souvenir shop, and other view. A friendly staff 😊

Shin-Kanaya Station, located in Shimada City, serves as the base for the Oigawa Railway. The station offers various amenities such as an SL express ticket sales counter, a souvenir shop, a coffee shop, and the intriguing SL Museum at Plaza Loco. During the Thomas period, visitors can enjoy interacting with the locomotive Thomas and explore the designated Thomas Zone for a fee of 500 yen.

(Translated by Google) There is an hour-long gap between trains, so passengers will have to take a break in the convenience store next to the ticket office, the photo booth, the exhibition hall, etc. Traveling on a hot day can be difficult. When trains depart, there is insufficient information about which platform the train is departing from and where it is going, so I hope the railway company can do something about this. The building in front of the station houses a souvenir shop and an old locomotive on display, as well as a wide variety of Thomas-related play equipment. You can use the restroom here and adjust your schedule until your departure time. By the way, we used the paid parking lot in front of the station, and a staff member showed us around. Thomas's face is impressive when you see him up close, but the unique sound of the locomotive and the view from the window were also memorable. On the way back, we had a refreshing hamburger in Shimada City, making this a wonderful sightseeing experience. I thought I could just take a train departing 20 minutes later from Shin-Kanaya Station and make a round trip, but it turns out that regular passengers without reservations can't board, so I'll have to take a train more than an hour later. Walking there and back would cost me an hour and 40 minutes. I had no choice but to take a taxi round trip just to buy one card. I wish the post station stamp cards were sold along the road. Shimada-juku, Kanaya-juku, and the next day, Hisaka-juku, all aren't sold along the road. I'd never experienced anything like this from Nihonbashi to here... Plaza Loco is located in front of the station building, and this is where you can purchase your steam locomotive ticket. The facility houses a Thomas shop and a steam locomotive exhibition, and unlike Kanaya Station, you won't have enough time to see it all. There is also the famous turntable, but it is located within the Thomas Fair venue, and a separate admission fee (400 yen for adults) is required to view it. As for me, I decided to pass on the train this time in order to photograph Thomas passing the Oigawa Railway New National Highway Crossing (the crossing of Prefectural Route 381 (Shimada Okabe Line)) at around 9:31am. Tea store
The Tea Museum, Shizuoka, also known as the Fujinokuni Tea Museum, is a new attraction that opened in 2018 on the Makinohara Plateau in Shimada City. It offers interactive exhibits where visitors can touch, see, and smell tea-related displays. The museum provides hands-on activities such as tea picking, matcha grinding, and tea ceremonies. Additionally, it features a Japanese garden with views of Mt. Fuji and a cafe restaurant.
My first tea ceremony experience and I loved it so much! 🌿 The ambience was amazing, surrounded by beautiful tea gardens. Such a peaceful and memorable moment. Highly recommended!

The absolute best museum in the world! They have a very interactive exhibition explaining the origins of the tea culture in Japan and around the world, and you can also join some activities like grinding your own matcha, tasting some local tea, or having your own tea ceremony. The gardens are magnificent. You can either arrive here by public transportation and a walk or directly by car.

Very interesting museum to learn all about tea, its production, and its influence across the world. Definitely participate in the tea ceremony if you have time (they conduct them every 20 minutes in the tea house out back), as it’s a quick but neat experience. The gift shop is great for buying tea goodies as well.

Sights & Landmarks
Chimanji Temple, also known as Chiman-ji, is a historic temple in Shimada City. It holds great significance as it was revered by warlords like the Tokugawa Shogun. The temple, belonging to the Tendai sect, is located on Chibayama and dates back to the year 771. It houses important cultural properties such as the Senju Kanzeon Bodhisattva Statue and the 'Chimanji Main Hall.'

(Translated by Google) I had always wanted to go to this temple. Someone had told me to go and see it, and I had been interested in it for about 15 years, but today I finally had the chance to go. Perhaps there is a connection, or compatibility, or a way of meeting with the temple. Today may have been the day of that connection. The entrance to the temple is narrow and difficult to find. The road to the main hall is also narrow, so if there is an oncoming car, you may barely be able to pass it. Please be careful. You have to climb a steep staircase to reach the main hall. There is a mountain gate on the way, so bow and enter. The main hall has a quaint thatched roof. From there, you can head to the top of the mountain. However, the road to the top of the mountain, and probably the entire temple, is a place of spiritual power, so there is a signboard that says that people who are not interested in climbing, hiking, trail running, or faith are not allowed. The entire space (mountain) is probably a sacred and solemn space. As this temple is located in the mountains, the air is different and there are large amounts of negative ions. We climbed to the top of the mountain and viewed the Osugi and Darumasugi trees. They were magnificent cedars that were over 800 years old. You can also get a temple stamp. Smoking is strictly prohibited, but there is an ashtray next to the toilets where you can smoke.

(Translated by Google) It is said to have been built during the Nara period. The main hall has a thatched roof that is said to have been influenced by the Momoyama culture. You can't tell from the photo, but the temple itself is huge and impressive! There is a statue of Senju Kannon inside the temple, but it is only unveiled once every 60 years. Next time will be in the 2050s. I wanted to see Jubonsugi, but Kanban is available. ``Persons other than those visiting the shrine, those wearing inappropriate attire, and those who are cycling are prohibited from entering.'' Come to think of it, I think there was also a kanban at the bottom that said ``Mountain walking/trail running is prohibited as it is a sacred mountain.'' I didn't go to the inner chamber because I felt intimidated by it. There was an old man runner making a U-turn on the approach to Yuzanji Temple, which I went to the other day. Is it sacred? I'm coming with an open mind, so I think, ``I should run somewhere else!'' Maybe even if it's not me, I have similar feelings. I feel like the place is being spoiled somehow. There are people everywhere who cannot decide that a place is not a good place to run. Even if I say this before making a judgment, you will never understand. However, I also wonder why there are such warnings everywhere for the sake of pure worshipers. The child and the young father, who had hung the insect cage, went towards the ten cedar trees. Is this good? Isn't that so? The delineation has a visible impression and is very vague. It may also be considered a sacred mountain. They probably feel like their sacred grounds are being trampled upon without their permission. However, it may be difficult to recognize and respond these days. Ten years ago, walking up and down the stairs at a temple was a common sight for club activities. Wouldn't it be better to say, "Try your best and don't get hurt!"? Maybe even those who travel to the shrine will become more religious as they traverse the sacred precincts. You are receiving high vibrations every time they come! A spiritual celebrity who even appears on TV. "He's the guy who was doing the training here." Isn't it possible? Why not? Those who don't understand will always not understand. The idea is that if everyone realizes and understands it someday, they can all become gods and Buddhas. Unfortunately, it seemed to be the best point with just the right amount of exercise for a training run 😅 The temple probably didn't put out Kanban at first either. Chimanji's Facebook page was also attacked. If you are interested, why not take a look? It was a place that made me think about many things. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt a sense of security, as if I was being gently embraced by the gods, and a silence that permeated deep into my soul. ✨ The sound of the wind, the rustling of the trees, everything was gentle -- it was a place that made me truly think, "I'm glad I came here." I walked slowly to the inner sanctuary, but along the way, a story about a bear I had recently seen on the news crossed my mind... I wondered if it was safe around there? Even in the silence, I felt a little nervous. On my way back, I tried to head north, but the road was narrower than I expected, the pavement was bumpy, and there was even a fallen tree along the way. 😨 It felt like the forest was testing me, and I became so anxious that I turned back. There were no signs in the parking lot, so I continued on, wondering if I was on the right path. But even so, Chimanji Temple is a truly wonderful place that purifies the soul. If you're planning on going, I'd love for you to experience that atmosphere. 🌿 Also, if you have any tips or advice on roads I should be careful of, I'd be grateful if you could let me know. 緑茶の駅! Green tea land railway station! This is also the starting point for the famous Kanaya Tea Festival held every two years in the beginning of April! Next one is due in 2018! For the railway buffs: Kanaya Station was opened on May 16, 1890, a year after when the section of the Tōkaidō Main Line connecting Shizuoka with Hamamatsu was completed. The Ōigawa Railway service began on June 10, 1927. Regularly scheduled freight service was discontinued in 1971. JR Kanaya Station has a two opposing side platforms serving Track 1 and Track 2 which are on headshunts, allowing for tracks for express trains to pass in between. The platforms are connected to the station building by an underpass. The station building has automated ticket machines, TOICA automated turnstiles and a manned “Green Window” service counter. The adjacent Ōigawa Kanaya Station has a single side platform. The platform is equipped with Selective Door Operation, as trains longer than four cars in length are too long for the platform. The station originally was built with a terminal headshunt, which is no longer in existence.

The table seat across from Apita's Mac, which I haven't seen in a while, is no longer available, but there is a spacious eat-in space on the right side of the counter. It's relatively empty on weekdays, so I recommend it to Mac lovers🩷👍 (Original)

(Translated by Google) I used it before stopping at Horai Bridge when I went sightseeing by bicycle in Shimada. I didn't know how to go to Horai Bridge from JR Shimada Station, so I asked a person passing by, and they told me, ``Apitaka is over here'', so I thought, ``Well, let's stop by Apita.'' Then I realized that there was a Mac. Since it was a weekday, I didn't think there would be any customers, but I think the only time Mac's is so empty is when it's a 24-hour store and it's late at night. It was so empty that I thought it would be. The atmosphere inside Apita has a really local feel, and if you say it's easy to settle in, my impression is that it's Mac. I used it on my bike ride and on my way home, so I could have a coffee and rest before going to the station. I use McDonald's all over the place, so having it in Shimada was a great relief. Nestled in the heart of Shimada, 麺屋 燕 is a must-visit for ramen enthusiasts. This charming diner offers a delightful experience with its thin ramen noodles served in a savory shio-style broth that warms the soul. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, making it perfect for both solo diners and groups. One of the highlights here is their crispy fried gyoza dumplings, which pair perfectly with any bowl of ramen.
I guess it is very tasty and one of good quality ramen I’ve tasted so far😊👍

(Translated by Google) Because it is a popular restaurant, it fills up quickly before noon. Ordered pork Chinese food for today only. Soup! delicious! I even finished the soup for the first time in a while. Also, since the large portion is not available for today only, I ordered a replacement. Unlike the first noodles, this time they are thin noodles. It tasted like a different type of ramen and I enjoyed it twice. The half-fried rice bowl was quite large and filled my stomach. It was a very satisfying lunch. The store is clean and the employees are very kind. (Translated by Google) I started working in Shimada and got excited talking about ramen with a colleague. We heard that Tsubame is famous in Shimada, so we decided to go. (July 2022) The first ramen I tried was Tsubame Ramen Soy Sauce. I thought it was delicious, but perhaps my expectations were too high based on the reviews, so I wasn't too impressed. When I mentioned it to my colleague, he said, "Tsubame is salt!" I remember telling him, "You should have told me that first!" (lol) Then, I tried the salt ramen next, but I preferred the soy sauce. Since then, I've tried ramens other than back fat and curry, and finally settled on [Tekazan Bonito Soy Sauce]. It's the only ramen I order every time I go. The bonito flavor is refreshing yet rich. The thin noodles blend perfectly with the soup, making it the best. With char siu, green onions, condiments, green vegetables, bamboo shoots, and seaweed, it's a great bowl of ramen that you won't get bored of and can enjoy until the very end. I went during morning ramen time, so a small serving of rice was included, which was also great. It left me feeling happy and not wanting to slack off...but it gave me energy for work. I went there for about two years, but then moved to a different location for work and couldn't go back for a while. However, I've recently been working in Shimada again, so I've been dropping in from time to time. I only have one month left of work in Shimada, so I'd like to visit again while I can. I wish other branches would offer Tekazan and Asa Ramen too... Thank you for the meal, as always. (Translated by Google) [Recommended Points]: Even among the Shizuoka local chain "Sawayaka," this restaurant has a reputation for being a hidden gem with relatively short wait times. The spacious and convenient parking lot and friendly staff are a plus. [Food & Drink]: The signature dish is, of course, the "Genkotsu Hamburger." Grilled over charcoal, it's juicy and full of meat juice. It's also popular with onion sauce or salt and pepper. The pot-au-feu and onion gratin soup included in the set menu are also delicious! [Service & Atmosphere]: The staff were incredibly hospitable, and they were attentive to the water and the doneness of the steak. [Information]: Hours: Mon-Wed & Fri 10:45-22:00 (Last Order 21:00), Sat 10:20-22:00, Sun & Holidays 10:30-22:00. Closed: Every Thursday (Check for holidays and New Year's holidays) [Access]: Approximately an 18-21 minute (1.4 km) walk from JR Shimada Station. By car, it's about a 20-25 minute drive from the nearest interchange, and there's parking for about 30 cars. [Summary]: Enjoy the classic "local hamburger" flavor at the Shimada branch, the Sawayaka. Enjoy the lively performance of the steaks being grilled on a hot plate, consistently delicious, and attentive service. If you have the time, try visiting when it's less crowded. (Translated by Google) Sawayaka is a popular restaurant known for its delicious hamburgers. I arrived around 7pm on a weekday evening and waited about 30 minutes. It seems to be even more popular than before. The knuckle hamburger is popular, and I always order it. It's often delicious when cooked, but this time I ordered it rare. You can choose between onion sauce or demi-glace sauce for your hamburger. It also tastes better with a little pepper or salt on the table (I started doing this after the staff explained to me the recommended way to eat it). I forgot to take a photo of the hamburger itself, but I ordered the fist-sized hamburger, which was perfectly medium, and savored the deliciousness. This is a famous restaurant that I would love to see open a branch in Kanagawa. The staff's high level of service is also a model of the customer service industry, and I think this is a truly wonderful restaurant. While waiting for my food, I could enjoy spot-the-difference games, and I was impressed by their service strategy, as I was able to toast with the staff on the special offer drink. So it's incredibly popular with families, and when I got there around 7:45pm, I was told there was a 1 hour 40 minute wait and was given a numbered ticket. People who arrived a little later were turned away because their wait time was past the last order time. I was shown to my seat around 1 hour 30 minutes later and ordered the restaurant's recommended fist-sized hamburger steak with onion sauce. It arrived in about 10 minutes. The staff cut the steak, which was still half-cooked, right there on the piping hot iron plate, and grilled it to the final finish. The steak has a slightly spiced flavor, so tastes may differ, but the quality of the meat is excellent. The staff are also very friendly, and their energetic and brisk movements around the restaurant are refreshing. If it weren't for the wait, I'd definitely return.
