Playa Las Ballenas is a serene and unspoiled beach, perfect for those in search of tranquility. Meanwhile, Playa Coson Beach is renowned for its breathtaking sunsets and strong waves that attract surfers. On the other hand, Playa Popy Beach is popular among families and water sports enthusiasts due to its calm waters and numerous beach bars.
Clean sand, azure water and stunning views - that's what catches your eye first. Here everyone will find something to their liking: you can relax on a sun lounger with a cocktail in hand, play volleyball, go water skiing or just enjoy swimming in the warm sea. 🌊 The beach is long, and it has both lively areas with bars, restaurants and beach clubs, and more secluded places for those seeking peace and quiet. 🌴 By the way, pay attention: in some places there may be seaweed, but this is a seasonal phenomenon. I advise you to walk along the entire beach to the lagoon - you will discover many beautiful views, and at the same time admire the old and modern villas. 🏘️ Playa Las Ballenas is popular with both locals and tourists, and this is not surprising! This place is ideal for families and friends. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 #PlayaLasBallenas #LasTerrenas #DominicanRepublic #beach #relax #sea #sun #sand #lagoon #villa #bar #restaurant #entertainment #beautiful #mustvisit

One of the most beautiful beaches in my country. White sand and turquoise waters make for a wonderful place to be in addition to all the little beach restaurants to get something to eat.

Great beautiful beautiful unfortunately some times lots of seaweed but great atmosphere and lots of diferents places to eat and drink.

Best beach in Las Terrenas overall Ian’s that is saying something!) Calm, clear water, white sand, near shore shallow water reefs that are fun for snorkeling. Great for families. Has restaurants along the beach road and on the beach itself and places to rent water sports equipment. Plenty of palms for shade.
Villa S — Google review
Love this beach! It is a more quiet beach (except on weekends, when parties tend to happen). In my opinion, to becomes prettier the further west you go, and ends in a quiet cove. It has a number of beach restaurants where you can grab a quick bite for lunch, and one of my favourite places for pizza is down near the west end (Chiringuito). It is a quieter area to rent on, and is usually our choice on Airbnb.

This small area is so beautiful. Lots of places to get food and drinks and even a massage. How about a Coco Loco in a coconut? Yes please! The view is amazing.

Playa Punta Popy, located in Las Terrenas, is a picturesque beach with clear shallow waters and coconut palms. It's a popular spot for kite surfing due to its perfect wind and wave conditions suitable for both beginners and pros. The beach offers a relaxing atmosphere with nearby cafes and restaurants, making it an ideal place to spend the day or enjoy stunning sunsets. Visitors can also rent beach chairs or simply lie on their towels under the shade of palm trees.
It’s a really nice beach. I’ve been twice and always a good experience. There’s parking, food and drinks available upon request, and just a peaceful atmosphere overall. I was initially a few feet down the road and in that spot the waves were a bit rough, so I decided to walk a few minutes down to Playa Punta Popy and the water was a lot calmer. I could get in with no issues.
Francini R — Google review
Playa Punta Popy is a vibrant and lively beach located at the eastern end of Las Terrenas, known for its colorful mix of kite surfers, beach bars, and palm-lined scenery. The water is shallow and clear, great for swimming and water sports, while the constant breeze makes it one of the top kiteboarding spots in the area. Along the beachfront, you’ll find several small restaurants and lounges offering everything from Dominican seafood to cocktails and smoothies. The vibe here is youthful and energetic during the day, but it calms down beautifully at sunset. Whether you're looking for a relaxed beach day, a casual drink by the water, or an afternoon of adventure, Punta Popy blends tropical beauty with the social buzz of Las Terrenas life.

Punta Popi Beach in Los Terrenas is a beautiful, peaceful spot with a little something for everyone. The water is crystal clear and calm, perfect for swimming, and there are plenty of shaded areas to escape the sun. If you’re on the point, you’ll get a nice breeze, which keeps things comfortable. On the eastern side, the wind picks up a bit, making it a great spot for kitesurfing. No big waves here—just a relaxed, scenic beach that’s perfect for unwinding or enjoying the ocean in whatever way you like.
Leighton C — Google review
Nice beach if you’re walking distance there. I went for convenience but there are other beaches if you can drive. There wasn’t vendors for food & drinks sold here unless you wanted a large plate. Lots of locals go on weekends for a day trip. Beach was a bit crowded on Sundays.
Jim M — Google review
Nice, but there was a sandstorm that made it a bit uncomfortable for us. During August I came and it was BEAUTIFUL! The water was warm, blue and so much fun! It really depends on the season.
Kenia L — Google review
This beach was nice! It wasn’t too far a walk from our Airbnb. We went when it was raining but it was still beautiful to swim!
Aaliyah S — Google review
A great place to hang out! You can rent beach chairs (250-300 pesos each), or just lie on your towel. Punta Popy is full of palm trees, so you can always find shade. Because it’s a point, you can swim on the east or west side, depending on the waves. The sand is nice, and you can walk right into the water on pure sand (no stones). There is often a massage person there (Lourdes), who does a great massage for $40us/hour. On windy days, you can watch the many kite-surfers who come out to learn or jump the waves… great entertainment. There are restaurants nearby to get lunch or a drink and if you leave your towel on the chair, it will be held for you. It’s a great place to go, as there is always somewhere good to hang out, no matter the weather (not rain 😂).

Coson Beach is a prestigious and popular destination in the Dominican Republic, known for its long sandy stretch lined with palm trees and clear waters. It's home to all-inclusive resorts and luxury hotels, making it a favorite among tourists. The beach offers fantastic seafood dining options and breathtaking sunsets. While it can get crowded during high season, visiting early in the morning allows for a peaceful experience without crowds or mosquitoes.
My favorite beach in December. Waves not too big for kids so it’s family friendly. Not a lot of people. Public beach cleaned probably as it’s also partly used by a big hotel. Plenty of beautiful sand and palm trees.

Coson (32000, near Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic) is a beach that captivates with its pristine beauty and atmosphere of tranquility. ✨ This beach is a real find for those who are tired of the hustle and bustle and dream of being alone with nature. 🌴 Here you will find an endless coastline covered with soft sand, azure waves gently caressing the shore, and coconut palms creating a pleasant shade. ☀️ Coson is a unique beach that has retained its wild nature. There are no crowds of tourists and loud music here. 😌 Just you, the ocean and the sky. 🌊 Of course, there are several private villas and one beach club restaurant on the beach, but they do not violate the general atmosphere of privacy and tranquility. 🏡 If you want to take a break from the hustle and bustle, enjoy the silence and admire the beauty of nature, then Coson is the perfect place for you. 👍 Highly recommend! #Coson #LasTerrenas #DominicanRepublic #beach #silence #privacy #beauty #nature #relax #recommend

This is one of the best beaches in the area. I particularly like it in the summertime when the waves are small. If you go in the winter time there a larger waves which is good if you like surfing. This is a beautiful Long Beach that sells for many miles spend the whole day exploring. There are a few restaurants along the way including Luis’s restaurant. This is probably one of the most popular beaches in this area I highly recommend you check it out.

Gorgeous beach, its very long and often empty, we had it to ourselves! The water is beautiful and calm and the cold current of Coson river meets it at some point, so its very nice!!! Also the white sand feels like a carpet, very thin and soft! You can take very pretty photos here specially with the palm trees!
Mariannee S — Google review
Quiet beach area with stores within walking distance. Food vendors near the beach as well as an outdoor gym.
Coleman K — Google review
Quiet beach with a great restaurant with Fresh fish and lobster. Nice sandbar surf break and doesn’t draw a lot of people b/c of close by Playa Bonita. Hidden Gem! One of our families favorites. Great little surf shack where you can rent boards. 🤙🏻
Corbin S — Google review
Super super nice beach. Without the seaweed this is in my top three beaches worldwide. It is very quiet but not dangerously quiet. There's two or three restaurants to choose from (my favourite being the reasonably priced one at the far east of the beach), and multiple roads to reach the beach. The best road is the one leading to Caffè Coson and you can use a moped easily. It's a beautiful beach with a nice curve, mix of wave strengths (be careful, there's extremely strong currents in some places), palm trees, and a river that changes shape every day. When I went (Dec 2022) there was a bit of seaweed (like everywhere in DR) but seemingly not as much as Playa Bonita. I recommend you set up camp near the river somewhere - you can get there on two wheels if you're a confident rider!

El Lugar, situated in Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic, is renowned for its inviting atmosphere and exceptional culinary offerings. This restaurant stands out for providing a gastronomic experience that blends local flavors with international influences. The establishment offers a relaxed and comfortable setting, perfect for casual meals or special dinners. Additionally, it's located close to the town center and offers an ocean view for guests to enjoy during breakfast.
We came here twice for dinner during our week-long stay in Las Terrenas. The mixed beef steak platter was incredible - perfectly seasoned and cooked. The octopus was a close second - tender, and seasoned perfectly. We didn't have reservations the second night, but the staff were able to accommodate us on the patio. Well worth a visit if you're in the area!

We got the Parmesan croquettes, much bigger than the pics and very delicious, pineapple-basil martini, very good, and the special daiquiri, also good. Then that followed the prime rib and a glass of chianti. Wonderful way to celebrate our five year anniversary. The staff was great.

A friend recommended this place and I’m soooo happy I decided to try it. Had dinner here 2 night on a row. Magdalena thank you for your service you were amazing.

Delicious restaurant located at Las Terrenas Beach. Located beach front, very ample and comfortable place. Service was excellent. Polite and very attentive staff. Suggesting and explaining their options, front appetizers to meals. The presentation of the plates was also something amazing, but of course the food was delicious. I tried the Spare Pork Ribs, which was grilled and accompanied by fried yuca and served with 3 home made sauces (barbecue, pepper and chimichurri). The only drawback is parking. Not many available on the street in front of the restaurant.

El Lugar was absolutely delicious! We were visiting Las Terrenas for a few days and out of all the restaurants we went to they had the best food and best service hands down. We were blown away by the kindness we received from the staff. All the seafood we had tasted fresh and the steaks were cooked to perfection. We cant wait to visit again! Oh, and Andy was such a great staff member he had such an amazing attitude and radiated a positivity. Thanks for a great meal!

Ordered the Parrillada and the meat was slightly overcooked, however what made this place worth coming back was the service that Andy provided! He has excellent customer service skills and made up for it by simply communicating with us and trying to make us happy. Andy should definitely be recognized for his excellent customer service, because of him we will give this place another try.

El Lugar (27 de Febrero, Las Terrenas 32000) is a place where gastronomic pleasure meets an atmosphere of sophistication. ✨ The first thing I want to mention is the excellent meat! 😋 Cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful. The presentation of the dishes is beyond praise: everything looks appetizing and aesthetically pleasing. 👌 I especially want to commend the chicken soup - it's absolutely delicious! The service at El Lugar leaves a mixed impression. While the staff doesn't speak English very well, which can make communication a little difficult, the owner is always ready to assist and is very welcoming. 😊 There was a slight hiccup with our table. We had booked a table by the window and arrived half an hour before opening, as we were with our dog (our French bulldog Cleo). The owner initially told us we could choose any table, but the waiter first offered us a place at the back of the restaurant, then refused us our chosen table altogether. Eventually, the owner allowed us to sit by the window, but stipulated that we had to vacate it within two hours. 🤔 Normally, I would have left upon hearing such a condition, but this time I decided not to let it spoil our mood. Furthermore, the waiter approached us several times demanding to see our reservation confirmation, even after we had already placed our order. 🤷‍♂️ His motive remains unclear, but it seemed like he was insistent on seeing proof of our booking. Frankly, I haven't encountered such an absurd situation in a long time. :) Overall, El Lugar is a great place with wonderful food and a pleasant atmosphere. If you encounter any issues, don't hesitate to contact the owner - he is always happy to help. 😉 #ElLugar #LasTerrenas #DominicanRepublic #restaurant #meat #cocktails #soup #presentation #atmosphere #service #delicious #recommend

Le Tre Caravelle is a restaurant inspired by Christopher Columbus's journey to the New World, featuring decor based on the three ships used during his expedition. It offers a varied menu of Italian and international cuisine, including grilled imported meats and fish. The interior is adorned with pirate-themed decorations, while the terrace provides a cozy atmosphere with views of the Atlantic Ocean at sunset. Guests can savor authentic Italian dishes, fresh seafood, and Mediterranean flavors while enjoying a picturesque setting overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
This is am excellent restaurant all around : Food, atmosphere and service. We were a group of 21 people, from 6 to 81 years and all were very pleased. Pastas, Seafood and desserts are all A-1. Service is superb.

We went for lunch after it was recommended to us and both ordered the fried red snapper — but honestly, it could have been a piece of cardboard and we wouldn’t have known the difference. It was tasteless and extremely dry, which was a real shame considering the very high price of the dish. The chips and salad were good, though. The restaurant doesn’t have air conditioning, so I wouldn’t recommend going during the day as it gets unbelievably hot.

One of the best places to eat in Las Terrenas! The food is excellent — fresh ingredients, homemade pasta, and perfectly balanced flavors. You can really taste the quality and care in every dish. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed dinner or a special night out. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic, high-quality food and great service.

What a delightful experience from the service to the ambiance and most definitely the delicious and beautifully presented meals. Unfortunately the caprice salad was so appealing I ate without taking a photo. But the gnocchi in tomato and eggplant sauce smothered in cheese and my companion’s dorado fish in wine cream sauce were photographed before we thoroughly enjoyed every bite! Hats off to the chef for deliciousness and outstanding presentation. Also to the extremely professional serving staff. Will definitely return.
Lillian D — Google review
We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, as it was near our Airbnb. While the food was satisfactory and the service was welcoming, the ambiance felt somewhat out of sync with the serene charm of Las Terrazas. The establishment seemed more aligned with the dining scene in Santo Domingo, though it did not quite meet the high standards of the capital's better-known restaurants. In terms of price versus quality, we found the offering somewhat unbalanced for the area.
Oliver H — Google review
Great option for Las Terrenas. They serve Italian (Pasta, Risotto and Ravioli), Fish, seafood and beef. We ordered Mahi Mahi (Dorado) carpaccio 👌 , shrimp pasta 👌, and grilled Lemon Mahi Mahi 😐
Juan P — Google review
My hotel manager who checked me in recommended this place. I had generally normal expectations. I chose the crab pasta and I was told that I could choose any salsa but that the cream salsa would mute the delicious taste of the crab. I was skeptical as most places when they say is tomato salsa. It's very plain stuff. When I said this is one of the best pastas I've had all year you could taste the juice of the crab, the wine, fresh tomatoes. I absolutely devoured the dish not to mention that their capirinha's are top notch as well and for the price hands down 10 out of 10.

La Terrasse is a charming French-style restaurant located in the fisherman's village of Las Terrenas. The elegant decor reflects the owner Denise's French influence, creating an intimate and romantic atmosphere. While the service is usually top-notch, it can slow down during busy times. The Victorian-style restaurant offers a Mediterranean-inspired menu with consistently good dishes, such as delicious octopus and specials.

Ristorante La Dolce Vita in Las Terrenas offers a delightful dining experience with its delectable cuisine and refreshing drinks. The attentive waiter ensures that patrons are satisfied, while the elegant and tranquil atmosphere sets the perfect mood for relaxation. This establishment is highly recommended for those seeking authentic Italian food. The appetizer Pulpo with bacon is remarkable, and the shrimp fettuccine and steak with mashed potatoes are equally delicious.
The Bruschetta as a starter with Ravioli as the nameplate was delicious. The atmosphere is good, was there earlier around 6:30 PM before the dinner rush. There is seating inside and outside, the wait staff was very attentive. Parking is on a busy street and there are fans that could be turned on at the tables. Food came out relatively quickly.

My absolute favourite restaurant in Las Terrenas!! Authentic and flavourful food, with a nice interior and lovely host. The portions are not massive however they make up for it in quality and richness, this is the best place to go in LT for Italian food!

I have the good Fortune to have property in LasTerrenas, and travel there multiple times a year, and never ever miss a visit to La Dolce vita! This is one of the broadest and most authentic menus in all of Laos. It is true Italian to the core, write down to the plates, style of service, and the wine list. It’s an acquaint, and clean atmosphere, are directly across the street from the beach. The owner, and staff are on their game with every aspect of the guest’s experience. I’m not a big meat eater, but I never miss the opportunity to have their fire roasted ribs and grilled vegetables. Some of the best in the world! This is a must visit. You will not be delighted!

Nice dining option a short walk from town centre. Good service, clean area, missing my first 2 wine choices but still managed to find something to consume. The carpaccio was good, needed some olive oil, lime and pepper for my taste and all the arugula was hidden under the carne. The salmon was a little overcooked but had delicious flavour with a nice vegetable side. Definitely will be back with friends.
Tony B — Google review
Restaurant is better than average, but the main issue bringing down my rating is consistently underseasoned food. Service and atmosphere were good, but the food lacked enough salt and this made most dishes that we ordered taste a bit bland. 3.5 stars.

Zelda E — Google review
We've been going to El Dieciocho restaurant for many years. I took my wife here for her birthday. It was a special occasion. She ordered fish, I ordered the filet with peppercorn sauce. Almost always excellent service and good wine options. At about 1am I woke up in bed and ran to the bathroom. Diarrhea and I vomited some. This went/on/on until about 7am when I ran to the bathroom and missed the toilet. It was a disaster. My whole dinner came out on the bathroom floor. Was the beef not stored correctly? Unsanitary conditions in the kitchen? Leftover old meat? Kitchen workers not cleaning their hands after restroom use? Are the ingredients picked daily? The restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday. We ate on a Tuesday evening. My wife had ordered a side dish of veggies and she had commented that they had looked/tasted unusually old. On my second day of recovery, I needed a doctor. IV fluids and medications were administered. We're definitely never coming back. Food safety is too important for us. (Note: We never received an apology from the owner even after providing documentation/proof of this ordeal.)
