Beautiful beach and loved the Mexican music in the background. Restaurant staff tries hard to get your business, but that’s just how it is in almost any touristy place in Mexico. You just smile and keep walking til you get to where you want to go. Once you choose a place, their service is top notch.
Jonathan F — Google review
Beautiful, quiet, warm water, lots of food to choose from, mostly seafood and there is no fee or wait time to enter the beach.
Rene S — Google review
Great beach 🏖️ and you don't need snorkeling gear with just some goggles your good since the fishes are really close to the ocean shore.
Paul R — Google review
Once you arrive, you will be approached immediately by restaurant staff trying to convince you to go into their restaurants. Facing the beach, walk to the right look for the bathrooms & showers & take the public path to the beach. The water was calm, lovely & incredibly clear. Be aware that in the afternoon numerous boat tours show up quickly and their customers are herded into the restaurants to be fleeced. I simply walked to a quiet area of the beach & set up my space and had an enjoyable time.
Cameron H — Google review
Tons of beach side restaurants of which the staff will accost you as soon as you get out of a taxi, trying to get you to come to their place. At the far left end of the beach, there's a small public swimming area where we were able to snorkel from and see a wide variety of small fish. The waves and current there were fine for swimming and our kids being in the water. Beautiful turquoise, warm water.

Tourist friendly businesses. Fun activities for all ages.

Beautiful❤️🫶🏽only thing this beach goes in deep very soon. Also be aware of the restaurants on the beach they tend to add extras to your tab.
D. P — Google review
Nice beach but sadly not for kids as I was advised and very expensive. The side where the kids can swim is open sea and the waves can pull you They rent pool swim inflatables , which is crazy!!!! , there was a couple with their child and the waves started pushing them to the deep , they had to swim and push him Of course the people who give it to rent will never tell you this danger so please don’t rent this and also very expensive. I am glad I didn’t rent it and if something happens you have to pay full price for the ring more than 1000 thousand pesos The food is not good and all is expensive , a chelada cost 150 pesos I would rather recommend LA ENTREGA . La entrega beach has not sun beads but you can rent an umbrella and the restaurant la entrega has an amazing food and very good prices and good place for children too

Waterfalls
Took a day trip to waterfalls on a vacation to Huatulco. Spectacular day walking in nature culminating in view of falls. TIP: Recommend taking a tour. The roads are narrow and bumpy, and I would not suggest self driving.
Terri D — Google review
Amazing experience. It's a little far and costs 100 pesos per person but it is such a huge cascada and dogs are welcome. We spent the whole day there.
Secil K — Google review
This place is absolutely stunning! Incredible pure water, so powerful and peaceful. The only thing about it which is not great it’s a road from Oaxaca and people who are working there don’t speak English at all, sobe really for the tricky parts.
Iryna H — Google review
Great place for a short walk along the river with many small waterfalls and places to swim. The water is refreshing and crystal clear. The road is mostly fine with some dirt sections. It's possible to drive any normal car there, if you are fine with dirtroads.
Andre — Google review
Paradise on earth. Have a local guide take you there and enjoy swimming in all the pools. The water is clean and has the right temperature. It's a bit of a drive getting there, but certainly worth it. Take at least half a day and visit early (or late) to avoid the crowds. There's a restaurant on site.
Jelle S — Google review
Definitely magical place and we had such a great time. Felt like a little waterpark for us. Spectacular setting and great photos to Greenberger this place. So glad we came early before the crowds be we had the place to ourselves for 30 minutes before ppl started arriving! I would definitely combine it with Cascada Las Brisas!
Sam N — Google review
The clear cool water was amazing! Went with our own guide Chay and he knew all the ins and out of the falls. Not crowded on a weekday and definitely recommend going here when in Oaxaca.
Tim D — Google review
Place is Magical like the name says. Crystal clear water with gorgeous jungle views. from the parking lot there are several waterfalls getting bigger the higher you go. Pictures don’t do justice. Once at the top you can purchase refreshments and snacks- if you love waterfalls you cant miss this one. The way there is kind of hidden about an hour into the jungle from the coastal highway. There are a lot of motorcycles that are willing to take you there for a fee. Entrance fee is $100 pesos per person. Definitely coming back.

Nestled in the picturesque mountains of Oaxaca, Hagia Sofia is a delightful botanical garden that offers visitors an immersive experience into nature's wonders. Named after the owner's daughter, this privately run oasis is not just about stunning flora; it also features a variety of exotic fruits like mangosteen and rambutan, which you can sample with their highly recommended breakfast package.
A nice visit to the privately run botanical garden in Oaxaca. Breakfast, lunch, swim included in the price (800 pesos per person - booked directly with Hagia Sofia). Armando (the owner) named this place for his daughter. He's a knowledgeable and friendly guy, who expertly guided us through the amazing variety of plants and trees. There are multiple washrooms and rest points with refreshing drinks along the way. Lunch and breakfast are delicious. The waterfall is nice, and an excellent place to swim. Also included in the price is pickup from our hotel in Huatulco. Totally worth visiting if you're in Huatulco!

A pretty little town at the top of the mountains. Great views in the center of the Oxahacan coffee region. This is where it all happens, great little coffee places and cute church, a must see if coffee is your passion.

(Translated by Google) Excellent reserve, it has paradisiacal fruits such as mangosteen, rambutan, noni, cocoa, star fruit, among others. You can try them if you buy the breakfast package which is highly recommended. Inside you will find many flowers and fruits, there is a waterfall but the time to swim is not very long, it is better to dip your feet and take photos. I would visit it again on my next trip to Huatulco.

Outdoor Activities
Bahia De Cacaluta is a secluded paradise beach that offers a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle. Accessible by a 30-40 minute walk through shaded paths, it provides an opportunity for solitude and tranquility. The beach is relatively untouched, with limited tourist activity before 4pm when catamarans may arrive. Visitors are advised to bring water, sunscreen, and repellent due to the length of the path.
This beach is wonderful, but also where I learned about riptides first hand. When water moves around the island from the left to right it creates an insane current that sweeps you out in seconds and carries you to the mouth of the bay. It’s too far and too strong to swim back at that point. I was snorkeling and looking down and didn’t notice that I wasn’t swimming in the direction I wanted to go until it was too late. Luckily I was really good at screaming and attracted a boat to pick me up and bring me back to shore. You can see in the photos there is a line in the water where the rip tide is. I’m grateful it wasn’t an undertow. I even watched a really strong swimmer cross to the island but he was carried by the current about 10 meters out from the direct line he was trying to swim each way. Also, there are obvious signs of sea turtle nests on this beach so please be mindful of pits dug in the sand! It seems like there is a way to drive there but we walked and saw a tarantula!
Alyson S — Google review
This is our most favorite beach in Huatulco. A 25 minute hike in gets you a Beautiful Beach that you will likely almost have to yourself for the day. The snorkeling around the island is great.
James G — Google review
A most beautiful, out-of-this-world experience. You forget the world exists... It's breathtaking. *** Before you suspend yourself between heaven and earth, do these things: 1. Bring sun protection, water, food 2. Make sure to arrange with the taxi driver to pick you up at a certain time and don't miss your appointment. 3. If you walked on the trail through the jungle - make sure to take a picture of where you entered the beach - so you can find your way back. *** Enjoy...

Bahía de Cacaluta is in my top 3 of the most beautiful beaches I have visited in Huatulco! It is HUGE, the views are spectacular and it is very quiet, you feel like you have this huge bay all for yourself. I didn't try to swim, as the waves seemed a little big. I came there by foot. The entrance is called "Sendero Sanate - Bahia Cacaluta". There are a few parking spots at the entrance. The hike is very easy and pleasant (15 to 20 minutes max). There are many educational signs along the hike to learn more about the national park and the Sanate laguna. I saw lots of lizards and birds on the way. Apparently there are crocodiles in the laguna but I didn't see any. Maybe because it was very dry. The trail leads to the left side of the beach, you can walk all the way to the right side where you can find a few restaurants. There is no shade so be careful of the heat. I had a delicious lemonade at the restaurant to cool down a little. Then I came back from the same way I arrived. There is another trail leaving from behind the restaurants, but I don't know where it leads. When I come back someday, I hope I'll be able to swim and do some snorkeling.

Amazing beach, peaceful and relaxing, you can swim and look fish is very quiet and don’t there annoying sellers is very comfortable
Aldo A — Google review
Nice hike to a secluded beach. Make sure to bring lots of mosquito spray for the hike or wear long clothes, otherwise they will eat you alive. There was no one at the beach when we got there. The waves were quite big and the current seemed to be too strong to swim
Orthja E — Google review
The best freakin’ beach in Huatulco. If you love isolated places and don’t mind being alone on a big beach, this is your place. There aren’t many places for shelter except for the family that runs a restaurant. I suggest bringing lots of water, sunscreen, and adequate coverage as the sun here can be intense. We took a taxi here but make sure you either organize a ride back prior (no service), otherwise you will have to hike on the road back to the roundabout to get a ride. It is a 40 minute walk to the beach from the road.
Tohru L — Google review
One of the best beaches I've been to! Secluded, away from the town, but not that much that it makes it difficult to go there. You need to take a taxi or arrive with your car and leave by the road, then it is around 20-40 min walk to the beach. Depending on where you leave the car it is either the "educational" path with bird watching spots or a basic road that only authorized ppl can use. Be careful as apart from birds you can meet other animal, I saw a group of 10-15 wild boars! The beach itself is perfect, small waves of crystal water, but sometimes strong current underwater, so watch out. It goes deeper that you cannot feel the bottom in about 2-5 meters already, so might not be good for children. Sometimes the boats come, and some of them stop to let ppl get on the beach for a while. I really recommend it, make sure to take lots of water and food. There are some palapas so you can hide from the sun as well, but if you have your umbrella, take it.

Parque Nacional Huatulco is a vast 29,400-acre remote plant and wildlife preserve with footpaths, beaches, coral reefs, and snorkeling opportunities. Visitors can explore the area on their own by taking a water taxi or boat to witness the abundance of coral and wildlife in this ecosystem. The park offers stunning beaches and bays with clear blue waters, some secluded while others are bustling with social life and delicious food options.
Very nice. This is not a tourist attraction. It is the real thing - a preserve. It is best visited by boat. There are foot pathes and not many roads. Great beaches and a lot of wildlife.

Terra-Cotta in La Crucecita, Huatulco is a highly recommended restaurant offering delicious Mexican cuisine. The menu features a variety of dishes including bastilla, pasteles, coconut shrimps, and more. Visitors praise the friendly service and English menu availability for non-Spanish speakers. The restaurant is known for its beautiful food presentation and excellent taste at reasonable prices.
One of the very few places I give 5 stars to, not because it was a super luxurious place but because everything was good. Good food, nice place, friendly service and all at really good price. It's definitely, definitely a great place to have a good meal with some kind people.
FERNANDO — Google review
Overrated place. Very mediocre food. The place is nice with great vibes but food is not good at all. Pan Frances con Nutella was a dry cold piece of bread like a cake style with “Nutella” being a random chocolate pudding consistency. Tacos dorados with pollo were completely dry, unseasoned dry chicken meat. Huevos are huevos, difficult to mess it up, so huevos were ok like anywhere else.

Great spot, came for breakfast. The food is really good, everything we tried was on point. Great service, they took well care of us!

Terra Cotta is a lovely spot in Huatulco with a welcoming atmosphere and a menu that has something for everyone. The location is convenient, and the ambiance makes it a nice place to linger over a meal. We really enjoyed our lunch here — the food was fresh and flavorful, and the frozen margaritas were the best we’ve had in Huatulco. Also passion fruit teas leches cake was so good!!!! The atmosphere is very pleasant and relaxing. Breakfast, however, didn’t impress us as much compared to lunch. Overall, still a great spot worth visiting, especially for a midday meal and drinks.

The plates we chose were all excellent and the service fast and friendly. Special mention to the 🥥 crusted 🐟 with spicy mango sauce was delish, My friends gave 👍🏼 to the 🍤 in tamarind sauce, and the seafood pasta. The only disappointment was the wine, but hey ho, it was my fault for choosing it.

We went for Breakfast at Terra Cotta. What a great experience. The menu has English for those of us who are not good at spanish comprehension. The servers were very friendly. The food was made quickly and our meals arrived at our table together. The presentation of our food was beautiful. The taste was excellent and fresh. The prices were very good for the quality of food served. The serving sizes were very good portions. I recommend this restaurant for foodies.

My favourite restaurant in all of Huatulco, service is excellent. It gets busy so you might be waiting for a table. French toast is delicious, my favourite is the coconut, but the orange flavour is very good too. Banana cree was also very good. Coffee is also excellent. We tried many dishes from the menu as we kept coming back, some are better than others. I will definitely be back for more food.

La Crema Bar is a vibrant spot located in La Crucecita, Huatulco, filled with hand-painted murals and Mexican-inspired artwork. The eclectic furniture and domed ceiling create a cool ambiance. Super cool, hippie style bar with a huge selection of alcohol and beer. As Americans drinking modelo all week, it was refreshing to taste a Michelob Ultra for a minute! The Terraza del Mar restaurant, located within the Quinta Bella hotel, offers a unique dining experience with its original cuisine. While the photo on the Map may not do justice to the beauty of the place, it is the dessert that truly stands out. The tasting menu costs $650 but is well worth it, considering that beach restaurants often charge more for average flavors. Highly recommended for those seeking an extraordinary culinary adventure.
Amazing service and great food. We ordered the tuna, octopus and marlin quesadillas and were very good. Rosemary ice cream was delicious. Price/ quality very reasonable
Eric V — Google review
We visited this restaurant based on its glowing reviews, but unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst dinner experience we had during our four-week stay in Mexico. Service and Atmosphere • Staff: Although the staff was friendly, they appeared poorly trained. For example, they had little knowledge about the wine selection, simply relaying the chef’s negative opinion about the orange wine rather than offering informed recommendations. • Ambiance: We were the only persons in the restaurant during our visit, which did little to enhance the experience. Unbeknownst to us, the restaurant closes at 22:00, adding to the overall confusion and disappointment. Food and Beverage • Wine: We requested a bottle of dry white wine due to the unavailability of most wines on the menu. However, we were served a very sweet white wine priced at €60. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, the staff refused to exchange it, leaving us with an expensive wine that did not meet our expectations. • Mussels: Based on staff recommendations, we ordered the mussels. Regrettably, they were not fresh—possibly even canned—and we ended up not eating them. • Gem Salad: This dish was decent but unremarkable, offering little in terms of flavor or creativity. • Seared Tuna Steak: The highlight of our meal, the tuna steak, was well prepared and remarkably fresh. • Espresso Martini: Another redeeming aspect was the espresso martini, which was very well made. Billing Experience The situation worsened when it came time to settle the bill. We were informed that we had to pay for every item on the menu. When we suggested a gesture of goodwill—such as an espresso martini on the house—to offset the poor experience, the response was extreme: the staff called security, insisted that we pay, and ultimately escorted us out. This reaction was both unprofessional and unnecessary. Despite a few well-prepared dishes, the overall experience was marred by poor service, questionable food quality, and an inflexible billing policy. We left feeling disappointed and disrespected. This restaurant did not live up to the high expectations set by its reviews. If you are looking for good food and service, go to Ve El Mar, they have a good grill and stone oven. Very good meat and fresh fish.
Brenda B — Google review
The view of the bay has got to be the best thing about this restaurant. The various dishes on the menu, its uniqueness and presentation was also something to highlight. Food portioning, however, was not as generous as I thought it would be. On that same note, the breakfast prices seem to be a little more higher at Terraza than that of Rustico Restaurant (located at same hotel). During our 5-day stay at Quinta Bella, we had frequented Terraza a couple times. Our servers, on both occasions, were polite, helpful and accommodating. No complaints.
M A — Google review
Great place. Everyone was happy with their meals. Jonathan was very personable and ensured we had what we needed. One small critique, as we were trying to enjoy the ambiance of our setting, our a focus was rerouted to the blaring ACDC and other classic rock bangers from the adjacent establishment.
Don C — Google review
There is nothing "amazing" about the service in Terraza. Quite the contrary actually. After 4 years of living in Huatulco full-time I gave up all hopes that Terraza's service would improve. Not a chance. The waiters have a particular knack for "disappearing acts". There might be only 1 or 2 tables with customers but the meseros are often nowhere to be found. Smoking in the back, maybe? Who knows...They have not been properly trained or managed and my tolerance for their bad service has run out. Since last month (August 2025) I have made a pledge to not give Terraza my business again. The proximity to the ocean is a great asset, the food is ok though not consistently good. But the unexcusable, consistently bad service does not make for a decent dining experience. If you want top notch, similar prices, professional dining go instead to Otto, across the swimming pool.

We celebrated our last night in Huatulco dining at Terraza del Mar restaurant. The view and ambiance was lovely, the food very good and the service top notch with both Jonathon and Kevin. Highly recommend you try this place out!
Wendy N — Google review
We were so excited to spend the last night of our wonderful Huatulco vacation at a fancy place. However, we couldn’t have been more disappointed. Due to awful service, we left after our appetizers and walked to the al pastor taco stand past the supermarket. The time it took us to walk there and get our food and drinks was about the same as it took Terraza del Mar to even acknowledge us and take our drink orders. The best service we had was leaving and being chased down for the money (which, if they would’ve actually visited that table, they would’ve found). Worst service we’ve had in years. And by the way, they had 3 servers and 4-5 active tables! But thank goodness for that taco stand. Go there instead!! Or if you’re looking for fancier, go to Terra Cotta in the main square.

Seafood restaurant
El Grillo Marinero is a popular restaurant in La Crucecita, Mexico, known for its fantastic seafood and friendly service. The restaurant has been serving delicious dishes for 30 years and is highly recommended by visitors. While some diners enjoyed the fish of the day and excellent service, others found certain seafood dishes to be disappointing. It's advisable to make reservations in advance due to its popularity.
We have been eating around town for twelve days and this was definitely one of the better restaurants, they know how to cook their seafood. I had the fish of the day (Amberjack), portion was huge and it was one of the tastiest meals of grilled fish I have ever eaten. Wife had garlic butter shrimp and she was also highly impressed. It was a Monday we were there early and when we left it was an hour wait so if you are dining after 6 maybe make a reservation.
Peter J — Google review
I honestly don’t underhand the popularly of this place. I ordered one of their specialties which was the octopus in its tint and I honestly have had it much more tastier and better served in cities where there’s not even sea around. I was hoping to be impressed by the taste and the style of a seas side city but this was a total disappointment. The octopus was chewy and the tint taste was not strong enough. The rice they put on the side, doesn’t mingle well with the octopus at all. I wouldn’t recommend this dish to anyone. The staff at the restaurant was not friendly at all and they seemed quite indifferent to their customers, as if they didn’t need the traffic. Out waiter also seemed tired so I’m not sure if that’s why we didn’t perceive the service as good. The price was high compared to other establishments nearby and the value for the food compared to what we paid was in my opinion not matched. In general I would say the restaurant is not worth visiting.

Reservations advised. The shrimp with butter and garlic was lovely, the shrimp marinero not so much (huge portion, but rubbery) Next time, I’ll make sure to order the fresh stuff.

We liked our experience. Food was simplistic in presentation but very delicious for us. I found it hilarious that no cocktails or wine available. Soda or beer. Yet we enjoyed it all. Octopus in ink, garlic butter mix. Beer and lemonade. Total 430$. Worth every penny and beyond. Tnx to all hands who prepared it.

Absolutely amazing. We went twice while we were traveling in Huatulco, and it’s one of the main things I’ll miss the most. The tuna was the best I’ve had in my life, simply cooked and perfectly seasoned. Melt in your mouth. Gf got the tastiest shrimp she’s had. If you’re in the area, you owe it to yourself to swing by. They are the nicest hosts, and the prices are very affordable for the quality they serve.

Great place, nice taste, but Gabriel's attitude is extremely awful and mean... not only does he tell off foreign tourists, but also states that empty tables are booked and does not allow customers to come in and order any meal (such a lie... there were two empty tables for nearly 2 hours, nobody came) he seems to be always in a bad mood. The rest of the staff is attentive and suggest kindly. Some sort of expensive butt it really worth it in the end though!!!

Marea, located in La Crucecita, is a must-visit spot for breakfast enthusiasts and food lovers alike. With its stunning ocean views, it’s the perfect place to start your day. The menu features a delightful mix of Mexican and American dishes, with highlights like their famous avocado toast and exceptional French toast. Be sure to inquire about egg styles and side orders to customize your meal just the way you like it.
I was looking forward to the tuna tower served at Quinta Bella resort, Marea restaurant. I had the tower last year and the year before. I have craved and raved about. At last, my tuna tower arrived at our table. I had convinced my traveling group to order one, on top of their order. Can you say indulgence. We ended up sticking with light meal so that we would be able to fit bigger meal for dinner. So far, the tuna tower at Marea’s is the best tasting and looking so far I’ve had. We were seated immediately at a table, on top level area of restaurant. Although, almost 90 degrees outdoors, the cool breeze from a top and electrical blowing fans, off set everything we were feeling. All views were on point (ocean, beach, resort, pool, and other restaurants below), minus construction to the left. We returned to Marea the following day, for breakfast. Another good dining experience, both food and service. Now we’re ready to explore the week in Huatulco. Recommend 👍🏼

We’re on our first trip in Huatulco and staying at Quinta Bella, which has several restaurants inside. We tried Marea and loved it so much we came back a second time and ordered the same dish. My favorite is the Al Ajo, buttery shrimp with a delicious garlic flavor and a huge portion! We ordered The coco shrimp but it was okay, but overall Marea is still my favorite. Bayardo was very kind and welcoming, making our visits even better!

We enjoyed breakfast and lunches here. The food quality and presentation is beautiful. We really enjoyed all of our choices. The staff is and accommodating. Special thank you to Humberto, Flora and Paulino. Also in the morning, a lady makes homemade tortillas.

It took 1 hr for the waiter to bring our food and drinks after we placed the order. Including a glass of water. Food was good, but after 1 hr it waiting the experience was not great. We asked talking to the manger and he never showed up, only the main waiter, who after hearing our feedback, brought most of our dishes (3/5) promptly, then 5 mins later the 2 remaining dishes (pescado a la talla)

Marea – Hotel Quinta Bella Address: Bahías de Huatulco Blvd, Sector P, Chahué 70987, Crucecita, Oaxaca, Mexico While waiting for my hotel check-in, I decided to unwind in the swimming pool area. The hotel offers an open bar for guests, along with several dining options within the property, making it a convenient and relaxing place to pass the time. Food Tostada de Camarones Tempura This appetizer exceeded expectations. The shrimp were delicately battered and fried to a light, crisp perfection, while the accompanying ingredients—fresh vegetables, and a well-balanced spice profile—brought harmony to the dish. It’s a vibrant and flavorful bite that’s both refined and satisfying. Rating: 9/10 Piña Colada & Oreo Chocolate Smoothie I sampled two beverages—both striking different notes yet equally enjoyable. The Piña Colada was smooth, tropical, and not overly sweet, making it the perfect refreshment for a warm afternoon. The Oreo chocolate smoothie, on the other hand, was indulgent and dessert-like, with a creamy texture and just the right level of sweetness. Rating: 8/10 Service The service at Marea (Hotel staff) was polished and welcoming. Staff members were prompt, professional, and went out of their way to ensure guests were comfortable. Their attentiveness, paired with friendly attitudes, enhanced the overall experience. Ambiance The hotel boasts a peaceful and scenic setting. With a view of the pool and lush surroundings, it offers a tranquil atmosphere ideal for lounging or enjoying a quiet meal. Whether you’re here for a drink or dining al fresco, the environment invites you to relax and soak in the laid-back charm of the hotel. Rating: 9/10 Price Considering the quality of the ingredients, presentation, and service, the pricing at Marea is very reasonable. Verdict Although I only sampled one appetizer during this visit, the overall experience at Marea was highly enjoyable. From the crisp execution of the tempura shrimp to the refreshing poolside cocktails and attentive service, this venue showcases the elevated hospitality one would expect from a boutique resort. I look forward to returning for a more extensive tasting of the menu in the near future.

Went here for a quick lunch before a scuba dive. Ordering was quick but getting the meals took a longer than what we have experienced with other providers. 2 of our party order the tuna and within 24hours they were the ones in our group to have food poisoning and this was the only dish we could think of that we ate that was the same, so stay clear of the raw dishes

Absolutely some of the best food/flavors that we have ever encountered. Chef Hugo and his team are truly amazing in the way they combine ingredients to create these dishes. The 6 course meal was portioned perfectly, and with a group of 4 we were able to try almost everything on the menu. Each of us walked away from the restaurant thinking the same thing - this restaurant is world class! Highly recommend for anyone living or traveling near Huatulco!
