We visited Herrings Green Activity Farm & Bird of Prey Centre as a family and had a really nice day. Our son especially enjoyed the bird of prey displays – getting to hold an owl was definitely a highlight for him. The staff were knowledgeable and made the experience interesting without overloading it with too much information. There were lots of animals around the farm, and the environment felt relaxed and friendly. One of the moments we’ll remember most was when my wife got to feed the alpacas – it was something she had always wanted to do, and it definitely made her day. The farm is well set up for families, with various play areas and activities for kids. Everything was clean and easy to navigate, and there were plenty of spots to sit or grab a snack. Overall, it was a pleasant day out – a good mix of fun, learning, and time spent outdoors. We’d recommend it to anyone looking for a calm, animal-filled day with the family.
Just back from an epic day at the Herring Green farm. My family and I had booked my husband an eagle experience which I would highly recommend. The falconer Erin was fantastical she took time to show us so many of the eagle and some eagle owls. My husband held and flew the massive beautiful birds and really enjoyed his experience. We had young children with us and there was lots to play on and keep them amused. All staff were very welcoming and friendly We went on a Sunday and it was very quiet which was perfect for us to look around.
Absolutely fantastic day out. Got the deal through virgin experiences and had an amazing day. The lady Lisa was so informative and clearly had a huge love for all the birds. Going to book to go back
On the positive side -The woman that did the display was fantastic. She really knew her stuff, she answered everyone’s questions and was entertaining. - Lots of amazing beautiful birds when we walked around in cages and used in the display. - They released lot of birds at a time to music which was really good to see so many flying at the same time. On the negative side - The receptionist was rude to all 4 of us when we arrived. She was clearly annoyed she had given us 4 stickers before our 2 other friends had arrived, like we’d deceived her for some reason ! She also denied telling us to wait in the field as the display had started elsewhere. We all very negative about the place before we’d even started. - The display group was far too big. We were in a group of 28 people so when the birds were being passed around we waited for ages before we could hold the birds. Also taking part in the displays took ages to include everyone. So became very boring which was a shame because the display was good otherwise. Overall, good quality but needs to be smaller groups 1/2 the time, and better reception.
Absolutely love this place. We've been here a few times now and every time I come away with some new nugget of information I never knew about the wonderful birds they have there. All the staff clearly love what they do, and what they do is so important not just for the birds but for educating the people that visit.
I booked the 3 hour falconry experience for my dad, partner and child. They said it was absolutely brilliant and completely exceeded expectations. We were worried that 3 hours was too long and that the rain would ruin the morning, but they said it was jam packed, the group was lead by Laura who was great, there were sooo many amazing birds that each member of the group got an opportunity to hold, they watched a great display and learned a lot. The rain didn't put them off at all and everyone left very happy. On a different note, my partner said the coffee in the coffee shop was the worst he had ever tasted in his life! I did have a look and opted to go into Bedford instead to have a coffee and wait for them to finish. I guess the facilities could be better but that's not what they were there for.
The centre has a wide range of birds of prey and a good flying exhibition. Small people can also hold an owl, which is quite special. The rest of the facilities are looking rather tired - for example there were lots of nettles growing round the kids activity area. It’s not too expensive so, on balance, a good half day out for the family.
I had a 2 hour bird of prey experience and the guy in charge “Riley” was an absolute professional as well as having a sense of humour. Riley was very health and safety conscious and explained everything so we understood the birds and there behaviour whilst holding them. Riley was very knowledgeable and explained everything about each bird in a calm and controlled manner,I could easily relate and understand him completely. Each bird I held was an amazing experience from Owls all the way upto a Bald Eagle with Riley by my side watching and reassuring me every step of the way. As a member of the RSPB I could identify most of the birds but Riley’s knowledge was supreme. Riley is a massive asset to the Farm and his customer service was the best I’ve ever seen a true professional at all times. Thankyou so much for the experience of a life time 10/10 I highly recommend this bird of prey experience to anyone.i hope you remember me the big tall guy who needed a bigger glove,Thankyou again.

This is a great place for a walk, and really great if you have kids that like to run around a lot and like wind turbines. Parking is reasonably priced, but not free. The visitor's centre is a beautiful building which has information, a shop, and a cafe inside. Dogs are welcome in the cafe. Outside of that is a playground area with swings, slides, and a good network of ropes as a climbing frame.
I highly recommend this park for a day out with the family. It's a wonderful spot for a leisurely walk, with paved paths that loop around a scenic lake. A big plus is the beautiful on-site café, which offers both indoor seating and a spacious outdoor terrace. Best of all, the terrace overlooks a children's playground, so parents can relax and enjoy a coffee while the kids play.
We have been here twice now. It's a beautiful place. It's an hour away from where we live but worth the travel. Plenty of toilets, one in cafe and one outside. Good open space and walking. Good facilities. Cafe, table and chairs and a playground for children. Only thing I'll say is to put signs up at the cafe and the on the tables to say no smoking. Unfortunately we had to move twice with our young child from our table and leave the playground due to a gentleman smoking when we were eating and the smoke was also travelling in the playground where the children were playing. Hopefully this was an isolated incident but signs may help chain smokers be more aware around others, especially children.
We used the marston vale forest centre for our wedding venue. It was the perfect setting with lovely rooms for the ceremony, brilliant views and perfect areas for photographs. Helen (manager) was excellent, she made the whole experience a perfect dream and took loads of pressure off of us by managinging the whole day from DJ’s to food, seating the guests, and sorting the little things like table decorations. We obviously had some things to do, but was prompted at the things we needed which was a massive help. Helen made the day run like clockwork and we are so grateful we chose this venue and had Helen to guide us along this journey. We looked at some lovely Manor House’s as venues, which also come with hefty prices. The forest centre was so much more competitive in pricing and at a dream of a venue. We would really recommend this this to anyone who asked about getting married, and if you have Helen and her wonderful team to steer you day you will have the bestest day like we did. Thank you Helen and the team Regards. Barry and Stef
Good small play area. Plenty of tables for picnicing. Well stocked Cafe. Big queues for coffee. You can pay for ice creams at reception, good job otherwise they’d melt before you get to the tills. They’ve got bike hire there, so will be good back to do that. You have to pay for the car park, but not overpriced.
This place is such a wonderful spot to explore, whether you're with kids or just enjoying some time to yourself! The café is amazing, offering a tasty variety of food and drinks that you won’t want to miss. I’m excited to keep coming back for more events with my daughter! I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone!
Visited yesterday with our two rescue dogs, it was a hot day so we took them into the cafe and had lunch. The staff were absolutely fantastic. Everything was clean, the food was delicious and great portions. There were 4 of us, two had toasted sandwiches and 2 had jacket potatoes. Absolutely delicious meal, a lovely coffee. I definitely recommend it for a meet up. Far too hot outside for us to enjoy everything outside, but we've decided we'll visit again after the heatwave!
Fabulous playground, interesting walks, very dog family bike running friendly. Lovely cafe, on the more expensive side but lovely quality food and drinks. Very enjoyable. Parking is reasonably priced too. Will be back

What a lovely place. From the interesting story of how it started, to the range of plants, how to grow your own, tour, and tasting session, it was good fun.( Lots better than I imagined). With a fun group too, it made it a memorable & highly positive experience. Tomas also gave us a special tour too with so much enthusiasm for chillis, grapes & more! Definitely worth the tour & tasting! Friendly, fun, and a great way to spend an hour or two!
We attended the chili tour and tasting and had a brilliant time! The experience was filled with information and great stories as well as a wide range of chili plants. The tasting was amazing, again with a wide range of products and fresh chili's. Definitely recommend and hope to come back whenever in the area again.
Wonderful experience, sauce and chilli tasting and afternoon tea. Passionate about their work and delicious food largely grown in their own gardens and fields. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes a bit of heat and is interested in different flavours of chilli
Had a fantastic time on the ‘Cooking with chillies made simple’ workshop. The owners were very knowledgeable, open and friendly. There was plenty to do on the workshop and we had a lovely day out. All in all great experience and I learned a lot. They also sell chilli plants and sauces on site which is really handy, including their own home grown sauces from their own chilli harvest. I only wish I turned up sooner so I could relax in the café, not to worry as I’ll definitely be revisiting at some point.
🌶️ Chilli Ranch – A Must-Visit Hidden Gem! 🌶️ Had an incredible experience here! The tour was absolutely fascinating – our guide was super informative, passionate, and engaging throughout. I learned so much about different chilli varieties and how they’re grown. The tasting session was the real highlight though – so many amazing flavours and unique combinations to try. Everything was really well organised and the atmosphere was lovely. Highly, highly recommend visiting – it’s a fantastic day out and a real treat for foodies! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sean was very entertaining, giving superb knowledge all the way through the tour. Joanna was a great host. Now the chilli’s. Look great taste great and can’t wait to make my own sauces.
Loved it from beginning to end, deserves more than 5 stars ! Went on the chilli tasting tour for two. Shaun the owner gave us a very informative talk on how to grow chillies from seed, then we had a tour of the farm and picked our own chillies. After that we went into their shop, tried their huge range of sauces followed by chilli tasting, from mild to hottest in the world! After that we had some amazing food in the restaurant. Definitely going back.
Visited the Chilli Farm for afternoon tea and a tour of the chilli farm. Overall it was a great experience. Joanna who is the owner of the farm and our guide for the tour was really informative and has a real passion for chillies. After a short talk about the various variety of chillies, we had a sampling session in the cafe of various chillies, chilli sauces and marmalades, starting from the mildest up to the hottest…the Carolina Reaper! There was plenty of milk on hand should you need it! Afternoon tea was lovely, a variety of sandwiches all made with various chilli based sauces and marmalades. Would certainly recommend for an afternoon out.

This is one of the nicest country parks I know in the area and provides a lovely day out. There’s free car parking for starters and a large and decent cafe at the entrance, which has loads of seating and is open daily. The whole site is well kept and while walking round the lake there’s loads of benches to sit and admire the view. For those with a particular interest in wildlife there’s plenty of signage explaining what you’re able to spot, and a number of covered shelters for proper bird watching. Each of the viewing spots has sweet wooden carved names and there’s a few sculptures along the way to admire too. There’s a couple of walking routes you can take, as well as a nature reserve in the centre, although they request dogs are kept out of there. Once you’re finished with the park there’s the village next door, plus a handful of different pubs easily accessible and pointed out on the maps. A great place and I’ll certainly be returning for a summers day out.
Lovely circular walk which takes around 45 minutes, with a play park, skate park, and exercise park. Benches dotted around. We didn't eat or drink from the cafe but this is wheelchair accessible. A lovely place to take a walk around the lake. Harrold village is also a lovely place to go for a walk. It's a riverside village, you will find a chip shop, Indian and a coop in the. A old lock up still stands in the village.
Decent car park. Voluntary donations go in a secure box. The old cafe has been replaced a while ago. It is nowhere near as good. I wouldn't bother now. The public toilets are in a slightly sorry order... when they're open. Annoyingly, not often enough. Walking is good though flat. Views are lovely most of the time. There is a large lake a smaller one and a river. There is a ton of goose/waterfowl and cattle poop to navigate through in some areas. There is a sport/ training spot frequently ruined by screaming, out of control children. Some circular dog walking paths, and waste bins strategically located. A couple of well-placed benches with lovely views, in honour of certain locals who passed away. There can be evenings with huge clouds of midges, usually warmer times, but they're usually not a problem. Wildlife is happy there and the rangers look after the area rather well. It can and has flooded dramatically in the area, but work to deal with that is underway and in some areas, completed too. It's close to Olney, a small village with further pubs, restaurants and more hairdressers than anyone could need. A couple of reasonable pubs nearby.
The country park is easy to access with plenty of car parking spaces. There are a few disabled spaces on the left as you enter. Facilities include a dog friendly cafe, enclosed children's adventure playground, an outdoor gym and a bike course. There are also public loos. There are lovely lakeside walks, river walks and woodland walks with bench seats along the way. The paths are all gravel or grass but are mostly flat, however a wheelchair might be difficult to manoeuvre in some places.
Such a lovely park 😍 It was our first visit today, and I was blown away how lovely it was. Loads of ducks, which you can get feed for, a lovely walk round the lake with bird hides and sculptures, and a cafe. It was a lovely place to spend a couple of hours 🌞
Some good parking space. £1 voluntary donation. The cafe (open to 4ish) provided hot and cold refreshments and were friendly. Sauntered around the lake and took about 50 mins. Looks like lots of spaces for picnics near the cafe and a playground and toilets.
Another fabulous country park to go for a walk around. There are 2 lakes that combine for a nice hour or so walk, depending how strenuous you want it to be. Grebe Lake takes around 45 minutes at a steady pace. Plenty of paths off into the nature reserve and a walk along the Ouse. Great for all exercise and dog walks. Very well kept and clean, although a few bins would be useful if you stop for a picnic etc. Kids play areas and outside gym too so caters for all. Cafe doing various tea and coffee along with food, staff very pleasant. Toilets very clean too, another plus point. Small honesty box for car park, suggest donation of £1, can't beat that.
Lovely walk around the lake with different paths to follow. Parking is free with an overflow car park. Cafe serves a good selection of food and drinks at a reasonable charge. Couple of playgrounds at either end (one near the cafe, the other near the gate exiting the park. Riverside Meadows does have cows who don't like people and/or dogs.

The park is easy to access off Barkers Lane across a bridge over the river and into the car parks area. One is straight on and there's another to the left after going through the Park gates. The cafe is located by the car park that is straight ahead. Toilets are behind the cafe. Wheelchair access is via a ramp. Dogs aren't allowed in the cafe but there is a large deck seating area out front where dogs are allowed. The country park has picturesque lakes, river walks woodland walks and large open grassy areas for picnics and playing with the dog. There is a large enclosed play area for the children. Fishing is available and the site does observe the close season, see the notice boards for details. There is also a sailing club for those who like to get out on the water. Birdwatchers won't miss out either because there is a lot of wildlife in the park with purpose built hides around the main lake. The main lake has a tarmac path all the way around and is good for wheelchairs etc, it's nice and level, wide too. To go all the way round is 1.3 miles and about 45 minutes. Enjoy
Decided to try this country park after coming across it on Google search. There's plenty of parking, with an overflow car park and parking was free, with no time limitations. We downloaded and printed off a map from the website before we left and decided to walk the red 4.5 mile circular route. Lovely area with lakes and rivers. We took a packed lunch with us and stopped on the way round at a bench and had our lunch. We was able to have our dog off the lead pretty much the whole time. Only in the conservation area we had to keep him on the lead. We only managed half the route as we had our 7 year old with us. We found a suitable point on the route to head back to the car. On the way back we stopped in the cafe for a slice of toffee cake and an ice cream. Our son played in the park which was very well equipped. We are already planning to go back and finish the other half of the red route.
A hidden gem in Bedford! One of the most pleasant country parks in the area. Tucked away behind an industrial estate on the east side of the town - made up of flooded brick quarries, Priory park is very picturesque, lined with mature willow trees and has a set of interesting walks and paths around the lake. The café is a treat. Good food and teas/coffees.
Such a beautiful park in the heart of Bedford! We went in for picnic and there was so many spots for us to sit around on our mat! Highly recommended for people watching and sun tanning during the hotter weather!
Great place to visit, needs more signs to help people get around because for someone like me... it ain't so obvious!!! Great activities for kids and family
Great open space in Bedford. My first visit. Lots going on. Great Cafe. Beefeater restaurant on site as well. Local sailing club Fishing from the Bank. Easy for any mobility issues.
Very beautiful park I enjoyed going for an Autumn walk here recently, the park is extremely serene and picturesque especially with the bright colours and hues of Autumn foliage and the scattered leaves on the floor, it's a great park for cycling as well big enough with enough distance, you can also feed the birds as well which I think is so cool and interesting as I really💜animals and nature, if anyone ever visits Bedford this is a great park to go to in all seasons but especially right now in October.
This a lovely place to walk around at any pace. Plenty of benches to rest your bones. It's nice if you need to clear your head with plenty of fresh air. The cafe onsite is an excellent bonus. Toilet facilities are also very good. Clean as well.

We went for a Sunday roast with friends and family. The food was excellent. We ordered a Trio of meats roast and beef pie, both excellent taste and portions. The service was although slow, I think the staff struggled to cater to everyone as it can busy given it's popularity. Overall a good experience and would definitely recommend it's food
Good wine, great beer, fantastic atmosphere and charming service. The Park delivers all this and more. The contemporary decor adds to the warmth of the welcome and the clean modern lines in the interior. Unpretentious gastropub fare is on offer and well prepared and the ingredients are super fresh. The flavour of the food inoffensive and the taste as expected on a pub menu. The sausage and mash was an interesting surprise with a spicy sausage instead of the usual pork banger. A great idea keeping all sauces and gravy on the side.
We found this lovely pub on our visit to see Simple Minds at the park and hoped to get in for dinner as we hadn't pre-booked. The lovely staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating! The pie was so delicious and Rosie our beautiful waitress was just so lovely that we returned the following week, for the the same meal before seeing The Human League over the park - and we were all waited on by lovely Rosie again! I think we're all a little bit in love with her now 😁 Full stars for this pub!
Lovely Sunday Roast with friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. Outside seating is available with free parking on site & a good selection of wine.
Although we enjoyed the meal as always, it may make more sense to put the disabled parking spaces near to the main entrance ... we ended up having to drive the car from the disabled bay to the main entrance to pick someone up. It wasn't clear if the rear/side exit could accommodate walking frames (e.g. steps). Just a thought, but if there's a different route please share
The Park hosted a gathering of family and friends after my father's funeral service. The Park was recommended by a friend who lives nearby and the funeral directors. My wife and I went for a late afternoon meal and were impressed with the menu, the quality of the food, the atmosphere and the staff - Emma. We spoke to her and asked if they could host us . She made booking the Garden Room and choosing a buffet very straight forward. Together with her colleagues Zoe. Georgia and Mackenzie I can only thank them for arranging a fitting gathering. The Garden Room was lovely and before the rain arrived thd patio was ideal too. Charming and helpful staff, great atmosphere, a buffet of good quality, great taste and quantity - I couldn't ask for more. Recommended
We came here a few days ago to celebrate a birthday, having driven by it for years and always wanting to go there. There is plenty of seating and the staff are friendly. The cost per person depends on what you have, obviously, but our group averaged between £20-£30, they also accept blue light card also so make you you take it with you! The four sharing plates for £20 were good, and the belly strips were absolutely wonderful, I would have a plate of them if offered. Will definitely go there again "It was good" - my wife
Worth Every Mile for a Top-Tier Sunday Roast Drove just over an hour to try their Sunday roast, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The food was bursting with flavour, beautifully fresh, and cooked to perfection. Service was equally impressive—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Having sampled Sunday roasts across the country, I can honestly say this ranks among the very best. No question. A fantastic spot with friendly staff and exceptional food. Highly recommended.

I personally felt like I really like the museum! It’s filled with plenty of rich context and I loved that it was free entry, gave us something extra to do for our day outing.
The Edward Bawden exhibition is just wonderful, and there's a lot more in there than you would expect. The first displays on the history of Bedford, are looking a bit shabby but get past that and there's just so much here.
Outstanding! Welcoming team, well curated exhibitions (e.g. 🇺🇦 folk art , modern currently...) Well worth exploring every "nook & cranny" both local ,nationally important exhibits.
Fantastic museum , lots to see over several floors and multiple rooms , a nice cafe and gift shop and most important of all its free entry !!
I went to the beer festival here with my friend. We liked it once we were able to get in after a lengthy wait.
Visited today for the current exhibitions which were free to enter. Greeted by lovely staff and we were really surprised at the number of things to see (and some big names) all beautifully displayed. A great little cafe serving hot and cold food and a lovely shop. We will return and in the meantime, spread the word!
This is such a great place to learn the history about Bedford. The items here are so amazing and mind boggling, you would love it. Families and kids are welcome here. This is where you must spend your time whenever you visit Bedford.
Lovely museum with plenty of things to see. My son is home schooled and he loves to go there and see different objects from the periods that we are learning about in our History lessons. It is always calm and peaceful there and itnis absolutely free although a small donation will be appreciated.

This is the most fascinating place in Bedford, set in a large Victorian house and gardens set in 1934, telling the story of the Panacean Society, a mysterious box, 24 Bishops and Octavia the self proclaimed Daughter of God, it is a intriguing story spanning 200 years, and so interesting you will end up reading every plaque. Catch the guided tour if you can, well worth it, and it’s free to enter, anyone with an interested in the bizarre or a unique British story will love it. Allow 2 -3 hours to view everything.
We are so lucky to have some many places of interest in Bedford, UK. The Panacea Museum is a fascinating bit of history that many Bedford folk don't know about! The museum is free to visit you can make donations and support them by having something from the Café or buying a plant or the odd vegetable from a stand in the Garden of Eden...that's right, Bedford is home to a Garden of Eden. The staff are wonderful, super friendly and helpful. The café has simple snacks such as crisps, prepacked cakes and flapjacks and biscuits. My daughter was able to have a gluten free flapjack and a packet of gluten free custard creams. Altogether got two cups of tea, 1 carton apple juice, 2 flapjacks and custard creams and it all came to £6.50 AMAZING! Will defo go back again if passing even if just for the café and some peace in the Garden.
5+ star visit. Highly recommended. Very interesting museum to visit if you go to Bedford. It is surprising to see how people have lived and built this community/cult however you call it and how it ceased after so many decades. Garden of Eden was believed to be here… and a lot of interesting stories..
Excellent - highly recommended. After 20+ years as a local resident, we finally visited on Saturday - spurred into action after reading "The Rapture" novel, set in the society. Our visit definitely exceeded expectations. Apart from the beautifully preserved period furnished rooms, gardens, and well presented displays, for me the real value was the way that the [often bizarre] activities of the society were presented in the context of their times, vital in helping to make sense of what would otherwise feel pretty inexplicable. Although it seems the 24 Bishops were never persuaded to come to Bedford to open the box, the social wider impact of the marketing and publicity efforts of the society in the interwar period seems to have been really remarkable. Who knows what they'd have managed had social media been around at the time. Sadly we were too late to sample the refreshments in the tea room, but there are some really collectable souvenirs for sale (based on some of the society's madder rules).
Fascinating museum about the history of the Panacea Society, a relatively benign, very English middle class cult based right here in Bedford. Very worthwhile visiting if you have an interest in religions and beliefs. Excellent knowledgeable staff and interesting displays.
Really interesting place to visit, once the headquarters of the Panacea Society and home of 'Octavia,' the daughter of God (according to the followers,!) The Society was a Southcottian sect that really established itself in the years following the Great War and when the last member died in the first decade of the 21st century the Society ended and a charitable trust took over the properties and opened them as a museum. It's a fascinating window into a movement that was very significant in the 1920's and 30's but has largely been forgotten now. The museum is a real time capsule and it's free to visit. Peaceful gardens, preserved interiors, an incredible story and knowledgeable staff and volunteers. If you're in Bedford it's a must!
A fascinating museum, charting the life and times of a highly eccentric religious society. Set in the Panacea Society's former residencies, it contains many information packed rooms, pictorial displays, a beautifully kept garden and the society's chapel. Many of the rooms have been restored to look as they had in the society's heyday. The Founder"s House, home of the 'prophet' Octavia, almost feels as though it could still be inhabited. There's a charming tea room too. And it's free. What's not to like?!
Very unique museum and was pretty interesting. Free to get in. Nice little tea room very reasonably priced and nice grounds.

One of the best water parks I've seen, especially for little children. It's true it is smaller than Elveden forest but there are no queues for slides. However I missed hot tubs and cold sinking pool. Plenty of changing rooms and rather clean.
We spent a lot of our time at the Subtropical Swimming Paradise at Centre Parcs Woburn and it was a really fun experience overall. There are five main areas, each catering to different ages and abilities. • Children’s Pool: This starts super shallow and goes up to around 2ft. It has three slides with two small slides – suitable for children around 3+ and one that’s a little longer, windier, and faster (better for ages 4+). Younger ones will probably need someone waiting at the bottom to catch them. • Pirate Play Area: A great splash pool with a climbing structure, plus a couple of smaller slides for younger kids and two larger ones suited to children around 4+. • Wave Pool: The main swimming area doubles as a wave pool. When the sirens sound, there are 5 minutes of waves, which can be quite strong and not ideal for very young children. Between wave sessions, though, it’s a lovely family-friendly pool, starting shallow and going to about 150cm deep. • Big Slides: There’s a separate area with three large slides, which are only suitable for older children and adults. Some even require two or more people to ride together. • Lazy River & Rapids: The lazy river was enjoyable, though you do need to be careful – some people treat the floats like bumper cars. Unfortunately, a group of teenagers crashed into me, and I hit my head on the wall, with lifeguards not stepping in despite seeing it happen. Thankfully, most visitors were respectful and we still enjoyed it. The rapids are fast, fun, and definitely more suited to adults or confident older kids. ✨ Overall, it’s a brilliant facility with lots to do for all ages. Despite a couple of downsides with supervision in the lazy river, we had a great time and would definitely recommend making it part of your trip.
Lovely pool with a nice amount of activities. The outdoor rapids were excellent as was the Typhoon Twister (forgot the name), though queues for the latter were quite long. Agree with comments about the pool, which is quite small so easily filled once adults jump in. Sadly the day after spending a few hours here I came away with a reddish rash on my chest and legs so I never returned after my first visit - not sure what the itchy rash was about but I guess it'll vanish in a few days.
Great fun for all the family, take your pick from baby pool, pirate ship, wave pool, lazy river, rapids (outdoor), Twister, Typhoon, Tropical Cyclone (for the daring) or do all of them over and over again! Good to kill an hour or spend all day there. Still lovely and warm even when freezing outside. Lots of seats. Decent food and drink from cafe or Starbucks.
Nice place. Not so many rides like long leet but the rapid river is lot better than long leet, never hurt once in rapid river.
Great family, fun, good place to spend a few hours, with good facilities.
We went for a 5 day staycation to Woburn and went to subtropical paradise on day 5. I do wish I’d known earlier, as it’s great for people who want to use the facilities and also lots of space for people who just want to take photos or sit down and not get in the water (which I didn’t know about until going in). Also, by the by, it was free! This is actually part of the package unlike all the rest of the activities which you have to pay for. My three star review is only through comparison with the Longleat Center Parcs. I strongly recommend adding a whirlpool and raising the temperature of the outdoor rapids. If both of these happened I think the pool would be level with the others. A good choice of slides but nowhere to go for a 'proper' swim, the main pool is too small and aimed more at children. The wild rapids are a lot of fun but I think the water temperature could be turned up a degree or two as it was cold unless you stayed underwater up to your shoulders constantly (quite impossible when you're being chucked about on the rapids), due to them being outside. There is a pirate ship with slides and also a pool for very small children but there aren't many places to sit or attractions for adults- such as a jacuzzi, luckily we came at a quiet time, it must be difficult to move in peak times. The lazy river is too short in my opinion and the hydro features blasting in your face take away the relaxation element of it. It was good but I preferred Whinfells' pool and would like to try another CP such as Sherwood in the future.
Nice area. Long walk down to pool area from changing room and pool seems smaller then other parks. Small child areas are very good. Water flumes kids loved and outside rapids ni e and warm.

A great museum with an added bonus of helpful and friendly staff at front of desk just inside the entrance. Very informative with info boards and items associated with John Bunyan's life. Do take the one way around the museum ending with a book case of translations from around the world, roughly in 175 languages of Pilgrims progress. It is a free museum, but you can donate money to whatever value you desire, for the running of this fabulous museum. A guide book can be bought for £3.50 along with variations of Pilgrim's progress and other books associated with John Bunyan or Bedford local history.
This is a very impressive small museum, packed with interesting exhibits and information. You certainly don't need to be a John Bunyan fan to enjoy it. There are only a couple of rooms but the space is well used to tell the story. Unlike pretty much every local museum we have visited recently, photography within the museum is very restricted which we feel is a great shame. With the prominence of social media in gaining traction on the visiting public, denying the right to take pictures of 99% of the exhibits seems very shortsighted, though there may of course be particular reasons for this.
I’m a fan of John Bunyan it was a dream to go see the town he lived in. His beliefs gave him his biggest inspiration, and blessings while he was in jail. That is when he had a dream to write Pilgrims Progress. God has blessed me to go see his museum in Bedford. It’s a must see if you’re a fan!
A short, sweet and very interesting tour of the life of John Bunyan, author of passages including the Pilgrims Progress. The Museum gives you information about his upbringing, all the way through to his death, with visual elements giving you an idea of what it was like throughout his life. The guide was very knowledgeable and grateful for taking an interest in John Bunyans life, highly recommended.
If you are visiting Bedford and appreciate John Bunyan, visiting the John Bunyan Musium is a must. This museum houses the best collection of information and artifacts related to Bunyan, including the metal violin he made, a replica of the jail, and much more. If you are a Bunyan enthusiast, the Bunyan Musium is well worth the travel expense. Bunyan did not have much in the way of possessions in this world, but this musium gives an excellent glimpse into his simple life. I highly recommend visiting this musium.
Very informative and very uplifting and encouraging giving a sense of hope for the world. A very good experience to help us feel confident and optimistic and have a positive view of life, very much needed by many of us
Excellent history of a truly remarkable book. Old and young find this a fascinating read still, centuries later. The history of Bunyan in the time of Charles I, II and Cromwell is well worth a listen too if you ask for a guide to run through it for you.
A small museum with a small exhibition. I'm not quite sure if the exposition reflects the path (pilgrimage) of John Bunyan, but it shows the features of the life of his time. The museum is located on the territory of the functioning church "Bunyan Meeting Free Church" in the left wing of the building.

This is the local park (along with Priory Country Park) for anyone living in east Bedford. I've included pictures of the Embankment, the Boating Lake and the river as they are so close but Russell Park itself is already full to the brim with lovely walks, an extensive playground (with an accessible section), The Kiosk that serves wonderful smoothies and has public toilets, and a mini golf. A lot of events are held here (Bedford Running Festival, main act at the River Festival, amusements, etc.) and it's the perfect spot for a summer picnic, an autumn leaf-focused romp, a winter stroll or a spring wildlife watching exercise.
Lovely park and play area. Great space for the kite and motoring festival this weekend. More bins needed for the likes of this festival, especially away from the food areas.
Lovely little setting, kids really enjoyed the park and walk over the bridges, would recommend highly on a sunny day. Suitable for all ages and great for a cheap family trip.
Lovely Park! and looks great after the recent refurb. I've been coming here since I was little and always loved it. There's a park which has been sectioned got older children and infants. There is also an sensory garden nearby and a cafe called the kiosk where you can buy duck food!
Russell Park in Bedford is an absolute gem! I've spent countless relaxing hours here. The lush greenery, serene lake, and well-maintained paths make it the perfect escape from city life. It's a great spot for picnics, leisurely walks, or simply unwinding by the water. The park is always clean and beautifully landscaped. The friendly atmosphere and the occasional events held here add to its charm. Whether you're a local or just visiting, Russell Park is a must-visit. I can't recommend it enough! 🌳🌞🚣‍♀️
A pleasure to walk and enjoy a good coffee in this lovely park
Beautiful park with play area for kids, big space fir picnic or a dong walk. Really beautiful now a days because of its autumn views. Love autumn n its beautiful colours. Just before entering in park, don’t forget to enjoy the river side walk. Amazing place makes me feel soo good. Full of nature n I love nature
The Embankment is extremely beautiful. It is great for walks or photography. I enjoyed looking at the swans, ducks and gulls. You can sit and read or watch teams practice their rowing. It is very near to hotels and restaurants in Bedford. Personally, I think the best time to visit is on a Saturday when there is market. There is a homeliness with the market, the coffee vendors, you can get fresh bread, have a seat and enjoy the morning. This can be completed with a visit to the city center and it's shops.

Romania's National Day was celebrated in Bedford, many compatriots from all over London were in Bedford, where the Romanian tradition was a feast on Romania's National Day and, to add another taboo subject, the United Kingdom also found an honor by sending two officials of the Royal House to support us at the parade and Romanian traditions, we thank from the bottom of our hearts the Royal House of London, long live Prince Charles and the Royal House.
Looks historical and nice place to relax and pray
Quant and beautiful building and churchyard cemetery. Was visiting Bedford from the USA, walking from Bedford train station toward my hotel, but had to stop on this cold Saturday afternoon to look at the headstones and read about the history of this parish and area. Beautiful, especially for those like me who love history. Wished I was able to go inside, but it wasn’t open.
Beautiful, peaceful building - absolutely stunning. Lovely ladies working there.
Music by candlelight, in a great setting, what's not to like?
St Paul’s Church, Bedford United Kingdom: My wife and daughter and I traveled to Bedford in 2001 and 2002 to visit dear friends. We live a few hundred miles south of Canada in the Minnesota town of Chaska. Our friends gave us a grand tour... I mean we know it all including Glenn Miller. My first Bedford contact, LB was recently stricken with a health crisis. My wife used the magic of Google to find him literally in the hearts of St. Paul's. You can't imagine the comfort we have knowing of this loving congregation.

A great little gem tucked away. Saw the sign ‘open’ and popped in. There is plenty of room to park, toilet facilities, a cafe and of course the train station. You can take a return train ride out into the countryside, then there are 2 more types of train rides once to get there, that do a double circuit. Then it’s a return journey back for cake and a drink. All reasonably priced. All the staff were lovely and chatted to the grandchildren, who had a great time. Will definitely visit again, especially now we have a leaflet with their opening times.
5/5 – A Fantastic Day Out for All Ages! We had an amazing time at Summerfields Miniature Railways! There are three different ride-on tracks: the Summerfield Line, which takes you from Haynes End Station to Hammer Hill Station; the Springfield Line; and the Winterfield Line, which is a raised track offering a different perspective. All the tracks are well-maintained and offer a delightful experience. The staff are incredibly friendly and passionate about what they do, making the visit even more enjoyable. There’s also a charming Garden Railway to watch while enjoying a picnic. Overall, it’s a brilliant outing for families and train enthusiasts alike—lots of fun, not expensive, and definitely worth a visit!
I recommend this train outing for toddles plus. I took my boys this half term and it was the last day till December when they reopen for Santa. We took all the rides. They have x3 platforms that take you round 2 to 3 times. The kids loves it and wanted to go on and on. The volunteers where so helpful. The cafe drinks and snacks were cheap (hot chocolate for my son cost £1) and they have toys for them to play with too. I was amazed with this place. I enjoyed the train ride as much as the kids.
A hidden gem in the countryside, we had a great morning, all the volunteers were so friendly, very reasonably priced, fun for kids & big kids too!
A lovely miniature railway which is well priced at £3 per return ticket (under 2s are free as well) with a stop at the other end with 2 additional rides at £1.80 each. There's a variety of trains and everything is decorated in a lovely old, traditional railway style which adds to the experience. A lovely way to spend an hour or so
Fun for all ages. There is no limit.
It's run by some lovely volunteers, they are extremely busy on the open days, it's very popular & parking can be a mare at times, well worth a visit with the youngsters for an inexpensive time or with the little ones. One tip I would give is take a picnic, unless you like sausage rolls.
if you want to come to my house and back to work what a great thing you do and don't worry we'll talk tomorrow morning and tell me a hug to all of you and then I'll tell you a hug to all of you and a kiss when you can call me and I'll call you and then we'll organize dinner

It’s a big park and we used to play cricket there. Ground surrounded with trees and bushes. Nice views and greenery
Beautiful well maintained park 👏 with a perfect cafe for the hungry ,nice meals.on menue to suit all . Park has lovely walks an area for peaceful family picnics too All in all a fab park for the family
Mowsbury Park is a true gem for the town spacious, green, and well maintained, offering peace the moment you step in. It’s perfect for walks, picnics, or simply escaping the noise. The pathways are clean and easy to follow, and the wide open fields are ideal for games and sports. There’s also a golf course, children’s playgrounds, and plenty of benches to sit and relax. The parking is convenient and accessible, making visits hassle free. The only suggestion would be to add more bins in certain areas to help keep it spotless. Peace, nature, and space a place worth every minute.
We always visit Mowsbury Park whether with the dog, the children or both! Plenty of things to see and do with lots of open space! The only real negative is the opening of the cafe are very poor, they were closed today on a bank holiday Monday when the park was heaving🤷🏻‍♂️ if it rains they're closed, poor weather it's closed, I get that the staff need time off as well but I'm sure others who visit would pop in for a drink and food more if it was open more🤷🏻‍♂️
Huge area of fields with a long footpath around the whole thing. Regular football training and pitches of varied sizes are marked out. Lovely area and even has a huge free car park. There are public toilets but you need a code I think
A very 70s park but still nice. Good play area, lots of open space and a lovely cafe.
Beautiful well kept park. Sandpit play area for kids. Gorgeous woods to take a stroll
