My new home. It’s been a year since I moved here. Have now for the first time really started appreciating the beauty, magic in the air and home.
Lovely little harbour surrounded by fish n chips and icecream huts etc..West bay beach is stunning. Great for families but as a solo hiker, I prefer somewhere a little less busy.
This is a great place to sit, chill and unwind. Views are spectacular and stunning 😍 Plenty of amenities close by, with pubs, restaurants, tea, coffee, just great!!! Great food available right near to where you could sit a d chill! Very romantic setting as the sun goes down! It's a "must visit place!"
Lovely walks and my places to stop for drinks and food
Nice little harbour with plenty of benches to sit down and have your picnic or food from one of the food huts we had small cod and chips and a tea really nice.
Nice harbour at West Bay with south west coastal walks on both sides. Good place to stop for food, coffee, ice cream, toilets, etc.
Stopped here on a coach day trip on the way to Swanage. It's a lovely town with a lovely market and lots of nooks and crannies down by the Custom House. Well worth a visit.
Bridport is a thriving community with always lots going on

Charmouth is a fantastic base for walkers. The South West Coast Path runs right through the village, offering a variety of trails. You can take a scenic, albeit steep, walk up Golden Cap for breathtaking panoramic views of Lyme Bay. For a less strenuous option, a circular walk between Charmouth and Lyme Regis offers beautiful coastal and countryside views. You can even walk directly along the beach to Lyme Regis at low tide, which is a popular and rewarding trek. Just be sure to check tide times to avoid being cut off.
As I had a dog, I went up stairs to the Heritage coast centre to ask the rules around dogs. Meredith, the woman on guard duty, told me to tie up my dog downstairs, ( I did not enter into the museum Because dogs can’t go in). I asked if she had any leaflets of information regarding the fossil beach and she just said tie up your dog and you can get them yourself, and refused to hand me any. I found her attitude extremely rude and condescending. I then met Steve who works for the local council and he was the total opposite, he even went to change my £5 note, into coins for the parking. WiFi is not very reliable there. I also have to mention that Meredith was watching as I talked to Steve and was smirking. I didn’t appreciate that when I challenged her attitude she responded I’m a volunteer. Does that give her the right to be rude? I don’t think so. I did not go in to the facility. I was extremely disappointed with Meredith’s attitude.
Today we visited the heritage centre and was amazed at the amount of fossil information on display. Super friendly staff. After spending time on the beach at Black Ven the staff were happy to review some of my finds and help explain what they were. Great for families. Well worth a visit 👍
What a fab place. Fun for fossil Hunting We also found loads of sea glass. The shop there was reasonably priced and there was toilets and a cafe toilets were free. Car park decent price and right on the beach. Dogs allowed in the beach.
Charmouth is a beautiful and interesting beach with constantly changing scenery due to erosion and just the sheer natural aspects of the constantly changing ocean and weather. I come here often to put it midly as it has a real sense of calm and tranquillity for me whether it be to eat my sandwiches, have a quick snooze on my way to or from fishing, grab some air, recharge or simply watch the stunning sunrises and sunsets ill always stop. It stretches for miles as does your imagination when there. I prefer winter time in all honesty as I prefer if im the only person around although in the warmer months I usually am as I arrive at 4am probably at the latest. The car park attends are welcoming and friendly and also work hard to maintain cleanliness especially after spring tides or/ and strong south westerlies. It gets very crowded at weekends and summer holidays though with people searching for fossils as its world renowned for precisely this. Thoroughly recommended.
A fabulous area to visit. Lots of lovely towns and villages to explore.
Pebbled shingled beach people swimming, bathing in sea heritage centre very interesting wheelchair access at different levels ok setting along pier head
A sweet little beach for the dogs with friendly people and dogs there. A lovely cafe with gorgeous toasties too, a little pricy but everywhere is now!

This is a nice dog friendly beach. There is a large national trust carpark very close by with a cafe and toilet facilities as well. This beach is great for fossil hunting and plenty of people were enjoying the calm waters. The sand is mostly made up of very fine curshed pebbles, which are useless for making sand castles from, but there is plenty of room for flying a kite or playing with a ball etc.
Had lunch at the Hive Beach Cafe . Absolutely one of the tastiest dishes I’ve eaten in a very long time . I had the mackerel and it was sooooo good. Staff were friendly , personable and the location is great. Definitely recommend and would go back in a heartbeat ( I’m g/ f too so it was an extra treat to have such good food ).
Hive Beach in Dorset is an absolute gem. Nestled along the Jurassic Coast, it offers stunning views with its mix of sandy and shingle beach, backed by dramatic cliffs. It's an ideal spot for nature lovers and fossil hunters, with the South West Coast Path providing beautiful walks along the coastline. It’s also dog-friendly and has good facilities, including parking. While the beach can be a bit steep in places and the cliffs can be unstable, it’s still a fantastic spot for a day out. Whether you’re after a peaceful retreat or an outdoor adventure, Hive Beach delivers both.
Beautiful beach, and very clean. Enjoyable long walks along the sea or on top of cliffs, both directions. Parking and cafes are available nearby.
Favourite place to be in the world. Perfect for families, Perfect for couples with pets. Once you park up you don't necessarily need to touch the car again. Plenty to do, plenty to see. Beautiful walks and scenery. Just Perfect holiday town
We visited this fantastic beach last week. It stretches for miles in both directions and the sea views and cliff faces are breathtaking. A really great place to visit for a long walk, combined with some fossil hunting. There's a very popular cafe and plenty of parking, which is free for NT members. Well worth a visit and much more accessible than nearby West Bay.
Nice beach and cliffs. Amazing view from the top of the cliff.
Serene and soul searching place at the far end of Chesil Beach. Beach itself is shingle so a bit easier to do the paths rather than the Beach unless you are up for some decent exercise.

Parked at the Langden Hill National Trust Carpark and took the "easy" path to the top of the Golden Cap. A lovely walk, and the views are incredible of the Jurassic Coast. Highly recommended, especially if you enjoy rambling or walking.
So if you are on the road heading to Dorchester take the right hand turn straight after felicity's, call in btw, the local wine is delicious, anyway go right it ain't signposted but you will get to a catpark. It costs around 3 pounds. You need actual cash. Coins. But from there you can do the golden cap and the wood walk. It takes about an hour and is around 5500 steps. It is upsy in one place but worth the effort.
I found the closest car park to be Langdon hill car park. Postcode DT6 6EP. Its a pay and display car park, national trust members are free. The walk to the golden cap is around 25 minutes with some walk through a forest. The last steps up to the Golden cap are steep, but there's not too many of them. You can also walk to the golden cap along the south west coast path. Its worth going, as the views are amazing, and there's a large sandy area at the top, where there's plenty of room for a few people to sit.
Beautiful walk to see the Jurassic coast. Although the closest car park charged £8 per car. We did it and work the hike. It’s a good moderate incline so make sure suitable shoes are worn
Nice beach but if you want to climb up the top, bring a sherpa and an oxygen tank as its a little steep.
Fantastic views, if heading to or from Charmouth reccomend making a small diversion from the coastal path and visiting St Gabriels Church on the way down
Amazing countryside for a walk, great views across to the sea and inland down the hills. A short walk from car park with nice circular routes for hiking. Take good shoes as can get muddy.
Well worth the steep climb to get to the top from Seatown. For a less challenging walk park in the NT car park at Langdon Hill. Supposedly the highest point on the south coast there are great views towards Portland in the east and Lyme Regis to the west. Good place to see birds and the rolling Dorset hills to the north

We have just spent a great week in Charmouth and spent every day at the beach. It has everything you need for a great time by the sea. A very photogenic beach with the added bonus of fossil hunting and sea glass finding. £6 parking all day. Fantastic selection of ice creams. Charmouth fossils and the Heritage centre are great places to visit. Just wished we lived closer as this is my go to holiday destination.
Nice place. Make sure you bring some beach shoes as really hard to walk on all the pebbles ! The icecream stand by the little bridge was much better and cheaper than from the beach shop. And Greek food stand just next to it as well
Another beautiful spot by the water in the UK. Mountains, valleys, and peace. You can hear hammers on the beach all around. Red rocks and more. I recommend it 😝 Arkady
A ridiculously busy beach. The sand is both pebble and sand. One major cafe and toilets available. Two kiosks within the pot holed car park. The cliff walk is nice but I cannot understand why this beach is so popular. Dogs not allowed on the main part at certain times of the year.
Wonderful place to visit. I decided to go fossil hunting and go to Charmouth instead of Lyme regis. It's a wonderful beach. There is a car park right on the beach front. There is a lot a coffee hut on the beach which is lovely. We actually found several fossils at this beach. It's a beautiful place to visit and highly recommend visiting
It was so beautiful it felt unreal. Anyone should come here at least once just for the sunset alone. I went for the fossiIs and stayed for the views. I love this place. I'll come again soon no doubt. Just go now 😁
What an amazing beach, its got everything, sand, shingle, rocks, fossils....loads to look at! Well worth the visit and very photogenic! A fascinating place to walk along! Pay on arrival at the carpark. Also has a lovely cafe and a fossil museum.
If it's a fascinating ith fossils or exquisite scenery that's your bag Charmouth is a perfect destination. (I just love painting watercolours so Lyme Bay is one of my favourite seaside areas...l leave the kids to search for fossils!)^

Thanks to the team at Lyme Bay RIB charter for an incredible trip along to Lyme Regis. With all three boats out filming for their socials yesterday, it was a fun and thrilling trip. Living close to West Bay, this was something I have wanted to do for a long time but never quite got round to! I would recommend it for both locals and tourists as an amazing way to see our beautiful Jurassic coastline.
In all the years we've been to West Bay we'd never done the Lyme Bay RIB, so we finally did this year and wasn't disappointed! One adult and two children cost £65 for the coastal cruise down to Seatown and back up to West Bay. Staff were thoughtful and conscientious of children, picking the best boat for them depending on clients, and seating them where they'd be most comfortable. Skipper Tom was brilliant, stopping and pointing out local areas and sights as we went along. We will definitely be having another go in the future... Maybe brave it up for the 15 minute Blast! Staff also upfront and honest about sea conditions - if they can't take you out they'll refund you or book you on another day. Top crew!
Best day of this year! I liked that we went over the other boat wake. I liked it because we went super fast and it was super fun. Milo was the best Captain. Would love to do it again. From Seb. Aged 8. (Best of Both Trip)
What a wonderful Father’s Day gift from my two teenage sons and wife! Exhilarating, but before a lovely cruise to see the coastline from the sea. Great people great fun and worth every minute. Hold on and have fun!
Would highly recommend this boat trip. We did the ‘best of both’ which includes high speed boat fun and some gentle bits to take in the scenery. Skipper was friendly and welcoming.
Fantastic fun for all the family! Whether you’re local or on holiday, you have to go on a rib ride! There are lots of different options ranging from scenic, more chilled rides to fast thrill seeking rides. The Jurassic Coast has to be seen from the water… it’s breathtaking. The team at Lyme Bay Rib Charter are absolute professionals and safety is paramount. We look forward to our next rib ride!
Having looked online and seen the options, I figured that our party of 12 would appreciate a "best of both" experience starting from West Bay, near Bridport, and ending at Lyme Regis. As this particular dish was not on the Lyme Bay RIB Charter menu, I picked up the phone and spoke with LBRC's very polite, knowledgeable and helpful Zoe. We agreed on an à la carte package that would combine sightseeing with the fast, furious and frantic! And we certainly got our money's worth... Our skipper, Milo, first took us East down the coast on a relatively sedate jaunt to Bridport, where he turned off the engines and stopped the RIB a few hundred yards out from the beach. Very scenic, very enjoyable. After a couple of minutes, though, it was time to fire up the engines, open the throttles and light up the afterburners as 700hp propelled us West towards Lyme Regis at SPEED, lifting up and crashing down as the RIB ploughed across the choppy late-October waters. After some time, we slowed down to catch our breaths, and I swapped my row four (out of six) seat for one at the FRONT. Then it was back up to SPEED. Wow, wow, wow, wow, WOW! Our exhilarating 45 minute experience came to an end as we slowly navigated into the harbour at Lyme Regis - 12 smiling faces and 12 great memories. Would we do it all again? NOT HALF! Tried to add a photo, but I failed.
We had such a great trip on the RIB. Everyone was professional and we had safety advice prior to going out. My partner was a bit unsure on the trip, waving to the skipper behind us bought the RIB to a complete stop instantly, my partner was then seated at the back of the boat where she felt alot better. The seating allows you to experience different levels of the ride. I sat at the front and loved it. Would go again for sure loved every minute of it.

What a great way to spend a Sunday morning! Went out as a family of four with John for a guided tour along the River Brit. It was enjoyable, informative and (most importantly!) great fun 😊 We learned loads about the local area and spotted not one but two water voles…who were probably just running scared of our wayward paddling 🤣 Thanks to John for an enthusiastic, interesting and fun morning out, was very much appreciated.
6 of us had the most fantastic afternoon on the river yesterday with John. John was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable as we canoed up river. It was a perfect relaxing activity for our family hen do and has inspired us to get onto the water more often. Would definitely recommend if you want to see Bridport from a different perspective and escape the crowds on land. Thank you John.
Finding activities that suit two family groups with 4 adults and 5 children (aged between 5-13) isn't always easy but our adventure on the river Brit was a complete winner. John was fantastic providing advice and information before the booking and Nick was incredible on the day. They were so friendly and supportive with the children, putting them all completely at ease despite not having much canoeing experience. Being out on the river was really tranquil and we loved hearing all about the history of the area and spotting nature. Seeing a gorgeous Kingfisher, who led the way up stream, was a massive highlight. Thanks to the West Bay Canoe team for a wonderful time to add to our Dorset holiday memories.
Be in the moment on River Brit! What a way to see the River Brit in West Bay, Dorset. Two canoes roped together to provide better stability, which also meant Graham didn’t have to row so much! Cormorants, dragonflies, water vole and being in the moment - wow. Great commentary by Nick too!
Amazing afternoon. We did the 2hr guided tour with Nick. So informative. He made the whole experience so fun for all of us. Would highly recommend these guys.
Really fun Canoe tour up the river. Incredible surroundings and beautiful wildlife- we spotted an Adder swimming across the river and lots of ducklings and baby Moorhens. John was really knowledgeable and told us some very interesting facts about the river and surrounding area. We stopped off at the Brewery and had time to pop in to the shop to get a bottle to take home. Highly recommend!
My wife and I had an amazing time. Our two hour guided trip was led by Nick, who had a wealth of knowledge about the various parts of the river we passed through, and was incredibly calm, kind and supportive in encouraging us as two inexperienced canoers. The river is beautiful, and the meandering course from West Bay towards Bridport is wonderfully secluded and peaceful for most of it's length, with plenty of wildlife pointed out to us by Nick. Not too strenuous, either - we took things at our own pace, so were able to focus on the nature the calming effect of being on the water in such a beautiful place. Highly recommended!
A brilliant fun morning for three generations of canoeists, 10 in total, guided by John who gave fascinating insights into the river history and wildlife as we went along. Very enthusiastic help by his daughter helping the group onto the water. Highly recommended for a peaceful change of scene and activity.

This is a fantastic way to find your own fossils. The talk at the beginning is very informative and the guides were really helpful and friendly. Our 3 year old didn't have the attention span to keep looking for the fossils but was quite happy to play on the beach whilst we looked. Money well spent!
Amazing so good for kids and adults
We had a wonderful few hours and learnt loads. We've even bought our own equipment and found our first ammonites. Many thanks to Chris and Paddy

We did the long range taster session and it was brilliant. The facilities were great, staff so warm and welcoming. Felt in good hands the whole time. Francesca was an incredible Range Officer. Friendly, knowledgeable, polite and helpful. So pleased we did this experience. Thank you all so much. FYI WEAR A JUMPER! Naturally the tunnel is underground so it gets very cold...
Took my fiance shooting here for his birthday today! We tried out the military shooting experience. It was my first time shooting a gun and Chessie was very helpful and knowledgeable! Such a great time with many laughs. We will definitely be returning.
We love this place. We took the younger boys and adult boy and his GF for the bolt action experience again. Great tuition from the trainers here (had to stop myself from trying to assit haha). When the youngest is 12 (in a few days) we will be back again for the AR15-22 experience! Thank you for a great time!!
We have been a few times to the 35 meter range withour children, (13 and 9 years old) and they really enjoy it. It is a fantastic way to spend an hour if you are in the area.
I have been many times and I've always enjoyed myself. Safe, professional and fun, every time. The long range shooting experience was informative and challenging. My wife (a non shooter) was well looked after by the staff. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in target shooting. Great fun.
Brilliant experience run by helpful and friendly people especially our instructor chessey (hope I spelt your name properly) couldn't recommend enough will definitely be going again
Amazing experience, we loved it and will certainly return. We booked the one hour “military experience” with semi automatic rifles - it is pricey for a family of four but worth every penny. Chris our instructor struck absolutely the right balance between safety and fun. Thanks Chris, we hope to see you next time. Highly recommend.
Shooting was on my wife's bucket list and decided whilst we were in the area to book in here. The people here were superb, full training was given and we had a great hour at the tunnel. In fact we enjoyed the experience so much that it may become a regular stop. It also helps that it turns out my wife is a natural shot!

Colin gave us an amazing tour of the brewery. He told us all about the history of Palmer's and how they used to make ales compared to how they do now. He also gave lots of free samples at the end which was very much enjoyed. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in history or the brewing process.
What a great afternoon! The guide is one of a small team that's involved in the brewing process, he was very informative. It was nice to see how beer was made way back when, and how subtle changes have been made for today's market. The tour also included the local history, of the family owned brewery and how it interacted with Bridport. The tasting session, after the tour, gave an opportunity to taste all the beers and purchase samples from the factory shop. I would thoroughly recommend.
My wife and I were holidaying in the area and noticed that Palmers do tours. A rainy day so we decided to book, easily done online. The 2pm tour was booked. There were 6 in our group and our tour guide was Andy. A fascinating insight into the brewing of their beer, brewing, the ingredients, and a little history of the, brewery, and the town of Bridport was given by our guide. The tour is in a working brewery so care is taken where necessary with high viz vests given out to you. The tour has some steep steps to negotiate so make sure that you are agile enough. The tour lasted approximately 2 hours. You finish the tour in the wine store where you are given free samples of their ales and ciders. The shop is well stocked if you should wish to take home some of their excellent products or wine, spirits etc. A great way to spend a rainy day, or a sunny day for that matter.
Did the tour with my mum last week on Thurs 11th. We've been visiting Bridport for years as a family, but had never been to Palmers. Had wanted to do it since last year, and I think the rain this year helped us go ahead and book! So glad we did. So interesting and eye opening about the whole process. Our guide Dave was absolutely brill and his knowledge about Palmers and the brewing process was faultless. So lovely to learn more about the history of our beloved Bridport :)
Visiting Bridport with our family for the week and had to try the brewery tour. Graeme our tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. It was fascinating and a wonderful use of an afternoon. Trying all the beers at the end was of course the best bit. We will definitely be going to the Palmers pubs in the area whilst we're here.
The Palmers Brewery Tour was excellent - as it provided a unique opportunity to see a real life working brewery situated within a characterful Grade I listed building. Our friendly tour guide demonstrated an exceptionally high level of knowledge of the brewing process. We enjoyed sampling the full range of Palmers beers at the end of the tour! Highly recommended.
There were 4 of us celebrating 60th's and what a great 2 hours it was! David, our guide was very knowledgeable and to see the process from start to finish - well I have the utmost respect for beer making! I have been on other tours, and I have to say this was the most informative. The tasting session at the end was very generous and we had a wonderful cycle home.
What a great tour. Ian Scott was great very friendly and so informative. Then to top off such a great tour you get to taste all the beer's, just a sip for me as I was driving, but that was ok as I got to buy my favourite to go in my new glass. The price is amazing too

A great place to explore and find all sorts of goodies, from all aspects of vintage collecting and larger items! Can be a maze, but that's part of it's charm and fun.
More than last there was last September when we came. Bit more like a jumble sale than a market. But some good things to be had
Went into Bridport this morning to see the market as advertised. What a disappointment. Bread stall, fruit stall and a couple of stalls with some old wooden stuff on. Sincere thanks to the couple of stalls that did turn out (picked up some nice fruit and salad) but where the hell where all the other stalls??? If you are going to be part of a market, the very least you could do is turn up!
A lovely place to spend an afternoon. Lots of places, nooks and crannies to explore. No facilities as far as we could tell but there is a cafe nearby. Lots of fantastic owners that are always happy to chat 😊

Serene and soul searching place at the far end of Chesil Beach. Beach itself is shingle so a bit easier to do the paths rather than the Beach unless you are up for some decent exercise.

Lovely water mill & museum. Unfortunately the museum wasnt open today but we will return. The cafe was nice & friendly . Also local crafts worth a visit 😁
An interesting old 17th century watermill and Museum of Rural Bygones. There is a cafe on site, called the Tea Chest, as well as local crafts and a lake to wander around. The 'museum' is £2.50 payable via an honesty box.
This is a delightful place. There is a cafe, craft shop, camping ground and pond. Beside the cafe is a working mill wheel fed by a torrent of water that sounds amazing. The cafe is open from 10-4 every day except Mondays (open on Bank Holiday Mondays though). The food in the cafe is great. We had lunch - "vegetarian" bagels with side orders of chips. Delicious. The pond was in use by Model Boating enthusiasts, sailing some yachts and model ships - one making a chuffing sound and producing steam from its funnel. Great to see. The place is tucked away down a short driveway (quite a rough road surface) and the country lane is single car width in places, a couple of miles from the nearest main road, so we had to stop in wider passing places a couple of times to let cars pass.
Beautiful location to while away a few hours. The Watermill museum has a working water wheel ( although not currently coupled to the grindstones the water wheel turns and a lot of the internal milling equipment is still in place.) Entrance 2.50 a head when we visited. The museum also houses an eclectic mix of old domestic equipment and tools from the last century. The cafe next door is excellent and serves tea and cakes plus a more extensive breakfast and lunch menu. Behind the Mill there is a mown paddock to enable you to walk around the periphery of the Millpond and a separate footpath takes you through the trees to the sluice gates which are quite impressive with the River Mangerton cascading down the spillway.
Brilliant little place, with a fabulous quirky museum and great tea house next door! Open Tuesdays - Sundays
Great little hidden gem! We started our visit in the cosy little cafe, lots of choice and very nice food. A light rain shower then directed us into the very interesting museum, lots to see! including the wheel from the inside (apart from seeing the wheel, awkward steps are involved) then we emerged to the sun making an appearance onto the lovely lake, lots of benches, ducks and a little walk down to the sluice gates which is a very pretty little spot. Before we left we visited the gift/craft shop which was full of very reasonably priced items and plants for sale too. A very enjoyable morning of exploring and will definately be returning 😊 There was also an Art gallery but not sure on the opening days as closed on the Saturday we visited.
Lovely cafe with a good selection of home cooked food, including traditional Sunday roasts. There is a great art gallery to visit, as well as the Mill area. Parking is adequate but a bit tricky
Just an update. Bridport was heaving... And too travel just a few miles out,and sit in peace and quite was beautiful... Especially for the quiet of the millpond and the beautiful awesome scones. And I don't know why I'm telling you. Because it's a secret hideaway far from the maddening crowds..

Fantastic museum, staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Price was very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit if you have time.
Great local history museum. Small, but densely packed with interesting and interactive exhibits on the agricultural, industrial and geological history of Bridport and its surroundings. Volunteers were wonderful too.
Staff were very enthusiastic and demonstrated how to make rope that was very interesting. We even got to keep it! Kids enjoyed the children's activities. Small museum so doesn't take long to go round but well worth a visit.
Well presented history of Bridport. Worth a visit to engage in the rope making demonstration. Many exhibits to see.
Lovely and quaint museum, learn how to make rope
Super cute little museum, with an eclectic mix of local bits and bobs. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and very happy to explain things to excitable children (although there aren't many things children can touch and interact with, so very small ones may get bored). There's some fascinating displays on the local history of rope and net making and how Bridport contributed to the war effort in that respect, as well as bits on the local railways, and local hostorical figure Dr Roberts' "Poor Man's Friend" cure-all. Entry was cheap (a fiver per adult and free for children under 18, with the ticket allowing multiple entries over a year - I think- if desired). It's a small space, about the size of a house, so only takes an hour or so to have a really good look round. Ideal to hop out of the rain or heat for a little while without spending loads of money, while learning a little about the town.
Really cannot fault this place. Not only was the subject matter fascinating, but the volunteers made it come alive, they're a credit to the museum. Spent a good hour in here, loved the art exhibition and I made my.own rope!
Excellent museum with helpful and knowledgeable staff. They have rope making sessions where you can have a go at making short lengths of rope.

Just had a Sunday lunch here and I have to say was amazing!!! Great food, lovely flavour and fab portion sizes. Staff have been friendly all week when we have popped in for drinks and today was no different!!! Efficient, clean, happy and friendly. This is a must for a meal if you come to west bay, 5⭐️ thank you team, take a bow 🥰
We live in West Bay and have never used the West Bay hotel, previous tenants have been awful. We gave it a go last week on the off chance and boy were we pleasantly surprised, good food and great staff made our visit worthwhile. We will be back.
Pleasantly surprised with this small pub/hotel! Our room was well presented and clean with some thoughtful touches. The pub is ideally placed in the centre of West Bay right on the beach and walking distance to all the amenities. The breakfast was absolutely stunning and the steak and eggs served were an absolute highlight! Highly recommended!
We visited for dinner on 19.8.25. The building from the outside doesn't grab you as enticing but once you enter the restaurant, it's well laid out with plenty of seating. The food was excellent, we had the Half Pint of Prawns and the Seafood Tortellini in a crab and lobster bisque which I must say was the nicest plate of pasta I have had in a long time. Dessert was an Orange Cheesecake, the biscuit base was a bit difficult to get a spoon into but the taste was delicate and creamy. Service was of a high standard and you could see the staff worked very hard. All in all 5 out of 5 and we would would return. Well done
We'd never been to The West Bay hotel before, but went for Sunday lunch with family, who had recommended and booked the meal. Well, we were not disappointed. The meal was amazing and the service and friendliness of staff made for a very enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back. Well done team West Bay Hotel.
Called for lunch with a wheelchair bound grandad and very infirm nana. Superb. Helpful staff, easy chair access throughout, good disabled toilet excellent seafood lunch, Palmers beer. Everything you need
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. £15 for an average Sunday dinner which they don't put enough gravy on it, knowing that you are going to ask for more gravy and then rinse you an extra £1 for a thimble of gravy. Holiday makers are definitely classed as second class citizens
A real diamond, recently renovated and in keeping with its history. Lovely place for a really good, value, high quality meal. Our room was excellent, luxury and spacious. Everything we needed. Awesome breakfast. Really friendly staff.

Great fun looking for fossils on the beach. Prepare to get messy as there is a dark sludge on most of the stones. Quite a long walk from the car park and steep steps down to the beach, so not for people with mobility issues. Great for kids. Some big fossils among the stones and if you can walk along further there's plenty of chances to find some. Fascinating
Good clean beach, some stones some sand, nice clear water, plenty of toilets and places to eat. Didn’t find many fossils though there was lists people banging away with hammers though. Parking can be very busy after 12:30 in all car parks, the one right down the front can be crazy busy.
My husband and I lost track of time at the Fossil Beach. You can definitely spend a few hours wandering and looking at the rocks and finding treasures. It’s a short walk from the nearest car park, the car park has toilets. I would definitely come back here.
Had a great walk along the coast, lots to see. Reasonably busy at the start but as you get further along it quietens down. It is quite a hard walk with lots of rocks and pebbles. Some great ammonite examples.
Very hard terrain to walk but worth it stick to the big boulders and plateau for easier footing make sure to go about 1hr before low tide times.
It is the juraasic coast and it is called the ammonite pavement so that is what you will get. Just check the tide times. There is parking and plenty of nice places to eat. If you get hungry while walking along this beach, just turn around and walk the other way and you will not regret.
Superb, tide needs to be out & the walk isn’t easy from Lime Regis carpark but it’s well worth it when you get there. It’s about 5000 steps along from the beach huts. Towards the end you have to traverse small boulders to get to the stunning fossil pavement.
Great little place to visit at low tide, just stay clear of the cliffs - we saw a few bits fall whilst we were there. Found lots of fossils, kids were stoked.
