Beautiful nature, way up was fine. There are also quite some parking spots all the way up. We have been there on a Friday in September around 17h30, and where done after a good hour (green track). Recommending for everybody who is curious and likes views 😍

Beautiful Hiking Area! We have been doing this Tour at the beginning of the year in January. The Weather was perfectly fine. You should bring good shoes as some parts might be a bit slippery. But overall the paths are quite good to walk at. We did bring our Dogs but they must be on the leash all time as you might spot Capricorns just around you in between the rocks. The Landscape is just breathtaking and beautiful. Definitely a Must-See place here in Andalusia!

Absolutely fantastic area. Other worldly and incredibly scenic. You can drive right out to the visitor center where there is ample parking. The road there is surprisingly well serviced and wide enough for vehicles to pass each other. Lots of different routes to take when hiking different environments and difficulty levels from wide flat pathways to clambering over ancient rock formations. My six-year-old son had an absolute blast, exploring and climbing.

Lovely prehistoric place, you can park on the Visitors Center open until 17:00 hrs, have a drink and a bite, use the toilet and begin your journey. There's 3 routes you can take, green, orange and yellow. Orange is a direct line go and come back and the other 2 are circular. We took the medium one and walked around 2.5 hrs taking many pauzes it was 32° when we were there at 18 hrs but luckily we had a wonderful wind to cool us off, we could enjoy the view, admiring the place where you can find fossils, wild goats and many birds. Amazing to see, a must to do when you visit Malaga. We will come back again and will take another route.

Very spectacular park. The yellow route is moderate and suitable for most people. We also did orange rout, that was a bit harder: the carved road was smaller and sometimes a bit harder to find. Advise: use "alltrails" as app to geolocate the route. The visitor cetre has a restaurant with enough choices. Come early: before 10AM so you can park at the main parking area. When full many people park down the road, but you will get fined. Police is checking on regular base.

Absolutely beautiful place. There is a couple hiking trails you can take and a few view points that are not too far away. There is free parking available, there is a small cafe with a picnic area inside and out as well as a small souvenir shop.

Great walk around one of the trails, there are 3 official trails… although there are other areas that could be seen and have no information… just visual trails where people have ventured off themselves! Well worth the visit!

Great place to check out. It took about 3 hours to look at the whole place. This place was a Roman fort, to a Muslim fort to a Christian fort. You can open a web page that gives an audio tour. Get ready for a leg workout because there are a lot of stairs. However, it's worth it. You get to look at how people of that time got to live. Sort of. Quite a bit of it have fallen apart or been destroyed. Not by any battle but maybe someone stealing to build homes or something like it. Either way, the views are unbeatable. I was also surprised how many churches there were. It's like ever ten houses got a church. Over by the church is a roman bath house that is in ruins. You can't get down there anymore, but you can get a good view by the restaurant. If you follow the path to the left under the church, you run into people's houses that are set in a very cool way. I always like to see little places like this.

We liked the setting of the Alcazaba than the palace itself, beautiful views across the city and the countryside, the Alcazaba itself is easy to navigate and explore. The audio guide is free to use on phone but it was a bit too slow for us, the information leaflet given with the ticket was quite helpful to get short snippets of insights. Entrance fee €5 only for the Alcazaba, there are combination tickets available with the church next door. Overall a good visit, easy to get to from the town centre, stunning views all around and I’d certainly recommend it anyone visiting Antequera.

A nice place, full of history, with wonderful views. The courtyard is not well maintained. Very thick walls, interesting history presented in the audio guide, but inside there are only empty spaces, there is not much to see.

Visiting the Alcazaba de Antequera was an incredible experience and one of the highlights of our trip! 🏰 Walking through the ancient gates, we were immediately transported back in time. The fortress is beautifully preserved, with impressive stone walls and towers that speak to its fascinating history. The views from the top are absolutely breathtaking, overlooking Antequera’s charming streets, the surrounding countryside, and even the distant mountains 😍. It’s the perfect place for stunning photos and to take in the scale of this historic city. We purchased the combined ticket with the Real Colegiata de Santa María la Mayor, which made visiting both sites seamless and great value. The Alcazaba is well signposted, and the audio guide added depth to our visit, sharing stories of battles, rulers, and daily life within the fortress. A must-visit landmark for anyone exploring Antequera — full of history, beauty, and unforgettable views. 🌟

It is definitely worth to see the castle and climb the towers. Views from there are amazing. Not much information is provided, but tourists get a little map with an entrance ticket which is 5 euro per adult. There's a possibility to also see the collegiate but I skipped it. There's a small parking near the entrance if you are brave enough to drive the steep narrow streets.

The superbly well-preserved Alcazaba of Antequera is an impressive medieval fortress overlooking the city of Antequera in the province of Málaga. It was built in the 14th century by the Moors on the site of an earlier Roman fortification. In 1410, it was captured by the Christians, after which the fortifications were partially rebuilt. From here, there is a panoramic view of the city of Antequera and the famous Peña de los Enamorados (“Lovers’ Rock”).

What an incredible Castle this is to visit with so much history and so well presented. Highly recommend seeing this one.

There are two man made cave megaliths on this site. Then, a third just a short walk up the hill in another location. After that, you should go up the hill to the castle (alcazaba). It's a little under 20 bucks and self paced with an audio tour off of a website to listen to when you get to certain stations. It takes less than a day to do it all. It was very good as a day trip. This site, they are not sure who built them. Aliens and giants are theorized by conspiracy theorists, which i find wonderfully hilarious. They do know the romans wrote about it as though they found it. The Romans may also be the builders of the well in the Menga cave. They are also not fully excavated. The first one you run across (don't remember its name) has golfball holes drilled into the rocks. They believed it was to commemorate a funeral. The bodies were brought into the cave first, then carried out to be buried or burned. The Menga cave does not have these markings. Both face the mountain that looks like a face looking towards the sky. It had significance for each group that lived there. From the pre-Romans, to the Romans, to the Muslims, to the Christians, and even to today's locals. We couldn't figure out what face mountain was called. Technically, there are two face mountains, but who's counting. You can also drive to the right of face mountain, and there is an abandoned town, but we could figure out how to get to it. The roads that seem to go to it are through a farmers' olive orchard, and that's just rude to drive through. So we took some photos from the road. For the navy folk, this is about 2.5 hours from Rota.

If you like local history, this is worth a rest stop. It's free, you do have to go in to the museum to get your free tickets and tell where your from, but that gives you access to nice toilets to. We didn't spend much time here, but it was a nice rest and a great walk around the museum and out to the toms.

This is a fabulous UNESCO world heritage site that for me was a must see site in Antequera. Going back almost 6000 years Dolmens de Menga was the most impressive. The modern museum was good and you have to go there first to get your free ticket to visit both Dolmen on this site. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Antequera.

Great stop if you are passing through or are into prehistoric times. It’s all free and the views and staff are great. We were there the day after winter solstice so the atmosphere was amazing and symmetry magical visually. They also had a concert happening.

I sort of feel I ought to give four stars 🌟 , it is a UNESCO World Heritage, but it is frankly not particularly impressive. We stopped by on our way to Rute, it was a nice break, but otherwise nothing much to write home about. Perhaps a keen student of neolithic / prehistoric Spain 🇪🇸 will see it differently, but as a plain tourist .... Entrance is free of charge, but don't forget to go to the museum first to pick up your free tickets.

Finally went this year as closer to where we stayed. So good to see them up close. Guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Spanish and English spoken. Booked our reservation online for the 1pm slot. Guide feeds at each enclosure so they do come to the fence. Even if it takes a few minutes.

Waauw, what a great experience. We took the English tour and had a great guide. She knew so much about the wolf's, their history and what is best for them. I love how they rescue and take care of them. I will certainly come back with my other daughter. Please keep up the good work.

We absolutely recommend visiting this place. Our tour guide was super nice and explained interesting information about various kinds of wolves. Tour could be conducted in English or Spanish. Tour costed 15eur per person and it took around 1,5 - 2hod. Wolves were really interesting and looked to be happy in this place. When visiting wolves our tour guide offered to wolves some snacks and we could see almost all wolves come to us and we were able to took photos and videos.

This is such a beautiful park with wonderful, caring staff! We learned so much on our visit and you can tell that the staff is really trying to educate people to help conserve wolves. They’re super knowledgeable and their English is excellent.

An amazing experience! I booked the photographer tour and it was such a treat to be shown around the park and have truly memorable experiences with the wolves. Our guide made the experience even more special and was very knowledgable. And I got some of the best wildlife photographs I've ever captured. I will return for sure!

We visited this park on 2 October 2025 and we loved it. Nicole, who took us around, was very knowledgeable and informative and made the visit really interesting. She knows her stuff! It was great to see the wolves in their spacious enclosures and learn about their lives. Anyone interested in wolves and wildlife in general will love this place. Highly recommend.

This is an extremely well constructed exhibition centre and everything is very high quality. Sadly there is little detail about the sites. What text there is is difficult to read because of the lighting which is designed to look artistic, rather than to be easily read. The site is fantastic but a small investment in the practicalities would make it even better.

This is an amazing place, really worth a visit. A wonderful museum. Ask at reception to view the video, which will explain the process of the building - an incredible feat of engineering! I actually found it very moving - to imagine our ancestors, who really weren't so very different from us.

If you are an Archeology Buff, this is a must see. We stumbled across it. Free access and does not take much time to visit the three locations. Wish they would open up more in the tombs, but the museum is still interesting and summarizes the history.

An extraordinary place, it is important to watch the video before going to the Dolmen to understand the construction process and its meaning. The Visitor Center area is newly built and still lacks exhibition areas. The staff is very attentive and makes the visit very pleasant.

We bought the combined ticket with the Alcazaba, which was great value and made it easy to explore both iconic sites in one visit. Inside the church, we discovered fascinating artifacts and historical displays, from ancient stone carvings to religious art that tells the story of Antequera’s rich past. One of the highlights was learning about the Tarasca, a symbolic figure of faith and tradition 🐉. This is a must-see landmark when visiting Antequera — a perfect mix of culture, history, and stunning architecture.

Real Colegiata de Santa María la Mayor This is one of the earliest examples of Renaissance architecture in Andalusia. There isn’t much to see inside, but it is a very neat and atmospheric place with an incredibly beautiful carved ceiling and a statue of the Virgin Mary standing on a seven-headed serpent. In front of the church, there is a monument to the famous local writer Pedro Espinosa. A bit of history: • The collegiate church was founded on the initiative of Bishop Diego Ramírez de Villaescusa. • In 1503, Pope Julius II issued a bull allowing the old church (Santa María de la Esperanza) to be transformed into a collegiate church. • Construction of the current building took place from 1514 to 1550. • Pedro del Campo is considered the original architect. • The church has BIC status (“Bien de Interés Cultural”), meaning it is a cultural heritage site.

We bought the combined ticket for 6 euro - we visited both Acazaba and Colegiata. Church looks great from outside. Inside you can spend 5 - 10 minutes only. The most interesting thing for us was the sculpture of the half lady and half serpent. Other than that, the whole area is worth visiting -Alcazaba, Colegiata, and Arco de los Gigantes. All these places are next to each other.

Interesting church within the old town of Antequera on a strategic hilltop overlooking the entire valley. Free Parking at entrance to Arcos or along street. Can get a combined ticket with Alcazaba next door. Or come on non festival Tuesday’s between 2:00 and 5:30 for free entrance to both!!! Enter the hilltop plaza containing the sites through the large Arcos and continue to the end of the plaza with church on the right. It really is a good visit. Makes a great Antequera day visit with the Dolmens and The El Torcal rock formations! If you are heading back to Málaga, take the scenic route back on A7075 until it connects with A7!

Delighted we decided to visit this site. Of course we have a similar site called Newgrange. It's about a 45 minute walk from the motorhome Aire. The visit was free once you picked your ticket up at the museum. There are some rooms to visit there which are very interesting. Once we walked to the dolmen we had a lovely history chat with the woman guarding one of them. Highly recommend a visit.

Worth a visit, no costs at all for EU citizens, staff was so nice to wait for us even after closing time, there are two different sites, 10 minutes driving distances, Tholos de Romeral and Dolmens de Antequera (Dolmen the Menga)

The newest of the three discovered Dolmen in the area, when you tie all three together, it's exciting to see the progression of human thinking and what was important to them before metal, and after they begin to work with copper.

It was a great museum. It is free all you need to do when entering the museum is to advise what country you have come from. The exhibits are really good and spans a huge time period. The exhibitions were also fascinating. Well worth popping into if you have a spare hour or so.

This was a great provincial museum with the main strength in archeology. The Neolithic, Greek and Roman parts were the best, with the Efebo of Antequera gorgeous. There was an Idol of Fertility and a few Roman busts and animal figurines. The jewelry collection was also outstanding, with emeral being especially prominently present. The building itself is interesting, with the inner courtyard and a great staircase. The paintings are of the local interest. This museum was free at the time of our visit.

An interesting collection of prehistoric and Roman artefacts collected from the region. Not usually keen on religious art and objects, but the Delgado Collection paintings upstairs really are a step up in class and the subdued lighting really shows off their quality. No photography allowed anywhere inside.

Beautiful building in a charming square in the heart of Antequera. Free entry (like so many in Spain) Laid out across four floors the bottom floor contains the pre historic and Roman exhibits. The second is largely Religious paintings/sculptures and gold articles. The third and fourth are devoted to Spanish painters from the 19th and 20th century. They have an exceptional view of a Roman Tomb and a beautiful Roman bronze on the ground floor and other very interesting Pre historic/Bronze and Iron Age finds. Not enough information in English so had to resort to Google translate. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

We happened across this museum while visiting the area. Really nice museum with lots of information about the local area plus lots of paintings by local artists.

It is the entrance to the ancient Arab medina and the route to the souk. The outer part of the arch features the coat of arms of Fernando I, depicting a lion, a castle, and stargazer lilies.

Not so much the Arch but the afternoon views are great.

Access to the Alcazaba, the Colegiata de Santa Maria la Mayor, and great views Puff your way up the steps of the Cuesta Barbacana hill and at the top is this gateway. Built in the mid-sixteenth century, it gives an interesting view of the Colegiata de Santa Maria la Mayor, now unconsecrated as a church and used for concerts. The precinct - Plaza de los Escribanos - on the other side of the arch shows some very attractive little houses, and a good restaurant. Escribanos - scribes - as this is where the clerics lived and wrote. Once through the arch you can visit either the church or the Alcazaba, or both! Don't forget to show proof of age for the 65+ reduction in the normal entry fee of €3 for each. .

Church that you can see from everywhere . . . Whenever you are admiring a panoramic view of Antequera, you can almost certainly see the tower of the San Sebastian church. It is the most ornate - and I think the tallest - of the towers of the 28, yes 28, churches in the town. You are bound to have a photo of it somewhere among your pictures! At the very top sits the gilded weathervane called the Big Fat Angel - El Angelote. San Sebastian church is slap bang in the middle of Antequera, in the Plaza San Sebastian where we find Kilometre Zero, from where they measure all the distances to other towns. This Plaza, where the main street Calle Infante Don Fernando ends, is important in the life of the town in Holy Week as all the processions (except the one on Tuesday) go through here. The big procession for the San Sebastian Church is the Wednesday one, with the Cofradia del Mayor Dolor. The procession starts at 21.30 at night, and finishes at about 2 the next morning. Another interesting thing on this Wednesday is at lunchtime - 13.30 - when soldiers from the Spanish Foreign Legion carry the statues into the church, ready for that evening's procession. Well worth going to see that if you are in Antequera in Holy Week.

El Torcal is an absolutely breathtaking place that you simply must visit! The rock formations are unique and unforgettable. There are two hiking trails to choose from – a shorter and a longer one – both offering incredible views. I highly recommend wearing sturdy ankle-high shoes, as the ground is uneven in some places. For those who prefer not to go hiking, the Visitor Centre is a great option, where the friendly staff are always happy to explain everything. Right next to it, there’s a restaurant with fair prices and free parking, which is very convenient. The best part is that the entire attraction is free of charge – a fantastic bonus! The only small downside is the lack of WiFi, which would be useful for anyone hoping to relax with a drink and work on a laptop outdoors while enjoying the stunning scenery. Hopefully this will be added in the future. Overall, El Torcal is a true gem and I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone visiting the area! 🌟

El Torcal has the most amazing rock formation, a lot of the rocks are balanced on top of one another. Incredible views from the look out platform. You drive up quite high, then park and walk to see the amazing rocks and the view. You can have something hot to drink and something to eat. Take warm jackets for the viewing, it is really cold up there. There are also goats on the rocks, you might be lucky to see one or two.

The information in the visitor's center is only in spanish. Too bad, since the history of this place is worth to read about before hiking or taking a short walk to the nearest view point. There are also free clean toilets inside, which is considered a huge advantage.

We were there at 10:00 and there were not many people there, so we got the trail pretty much to our selves. We walked the short, green trail and it took 40 min, and we stopped plenty of times for some photos. The path is very rough and a bit tricky to walk on. When we came back the parking lot had filled up. The food was OK, but nothing special. The almond soup was quite bland. The tomato soup, salmorejo, was topped with tuna. There are clean bathrooms.

Great place with fabulous views over Antequera and beyond. Especially good for walkers who like to explore.

Landscape is amazing we did the 2 hours walk which was the green and yellow trail. It is quite a physical trek and not for the faint hearted. We where very lucky to get a beautiful hot day but would not recommend in bad weather. Hiking boots recommended although good trainers can also serve the purpose. The rock formation and flora is beautiful. I visited in autumn and the range of colours was amazing. The views are breathtaking and at the visitors centre you can find a restaurant and toilets. The drive up is through winding roads but it is well signposted and the road is in a good state also at the visitors centre there is a large car park.

Set in lovely town of Aguilera as original entry to town. Alongside a bull ring

This gateway leads to the main route into town where the bars and restaurants are frequent, it's next to the bull ring which is free to enter and has a nice cafe.

Only a reconstruction, but very attractive. It's not the real thing, I'm afraid! The original, built in 1749 with a central arch for carriages and two lateral arches for pedestrians, was knocked down in 1931 because cars couldn't get through it easily. Good gracious, what a reason! However in 1998 they had the clever idea of reconstructing it according to the original design, and using stone from the Torcal area just outside the town. They solved the problem of the narrow arch very easily by putting it in a roundabout so everyone drives around it instead of through it. Now why didn't they think of that in 1931? Puerta de Estepa - the Estepa Door - as it was and is the main entrance to Antequera coming from the town of Estepa. Estepa is famous at Christmas time for its polvorones and mantecados, by the way, delicious calorie-filled sweetmeats traditional at that time of year. The best time to take a photo is at night when it is illuminated, or fairly early in the morning, on your way to have chocolate and churros perhaps in the bar A La Fuerza just 100 metres away, when the sun strikes it and illuminates the beautiful golden stone. .

So much more to see but 1hour can't be do !

Lovely church in Antequera. We come here to buy what we call our 'naughty nun's treats' - traditional biscuits, cakes and sweets made by the sisters and sold through a little window just beyond the convent doors.

A corridor tomb built between approximately 3,500 BCE and the early Bronze Age. Its entrance is perfectly aligned with the east, corresponding to the rising sun during the equinoxes, demonstrating the advanced astronomical knowledge of prehistoric builders. Human remains, along with pottery and stone tools, were found inside.

found this on Google and decided to visit on the way to Ronda. glad we did as its a nice little hour trip. the narration in the museum is worth a listen to hear the history of the site. it's as old as my ma. she laughed when I said that. it's free too.

Not much to see. Of course impressive how at the copper age they built this but you see two tombs with nothing in them. At least it's free. The museum is also uninteresting. A video explaining everything would be more useful.

The smallest of 3 of them beautiful Dolmen Viera was built about 2400 years BC. Must see

A smaller dolmen, but still incredible to see and experience.

So amazing! And it’s free ticket to visit. But recommended to visit like early in the morning of a bit afternoon if it’s summer.

This dolmen is tiny. You walk in, turn around and walk out seconds later.
