Great hotel, luxury and history together.
Great location, full of nostalgia and antiques
A nasty piece of work full of cheap antiques. A worn red carpet takes you up the stairs. We asked for an iron and they gave us a dodgy one. They didn't have another. There is one only one word to describe the bath/shower... LETHAL .
(Translated by Google) The guesthouse is beautiful and is located in the historic center of Estremoz. Whether at ground level or at the top of the keep, the view is fantastic. At the top of the tower, you have a fantastic 360-degree view. The interior is classic/historical, with decor to match. It makes guests feel like they are living in a period setting. It has huge, beautiful rooms, as is the case with the restaurant. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The standard rooms are the normal size of a hotel room, also decorated in a classic style. The less good aspects...the bathroom sometimes had a sewage smell, which went away with use, but the pipes still made noise. It's not serious. The room was too hot, even with the air conditioning turned off. The beds creaked a bit. The door, if it wasn't locked from the inside, is only given a key, and it opens from the outside. In terms of security, it's bad. But this didn't spoil the pleasant stay I had. The breakfast is quite good, but for a 4-star hotel, it could be improved. For example, eggs (fried, pancakes, omelettes) cooked to order. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. It's worth staying at the guesthouse, but there are some things that could be improved, since the price of the room is not cheap.

Great visit! We took the tasting/visit with tapas. It was a great experience. I highly recommend it.
NO walk in. Nobody was there and they wouldnt even serve a glass of wine. Very disappointing to see this pattern amongst many wineries in the region—won’t attend customers without appointment, blaming out on covid (it’s 2025.)
Our visit to João Portugal Ramos Winery in Estremoz was nothing short of unforgettable. Located in the Borba subregion of Alentejo, this is the home of one of Portugal’s most famous winemakers, and our experience there went far beyond a typical tasting. We arrived during harvest season and were warmly greeted by Marcia, a knowledgeable and friendly guide who explained the Ramos family’s history and estates across Portugal. Walking through the winery, we caught the distinct aroma of fermentation, visited the barrel room where classical music played to help “calm the wine,” and even glimpsed João and his son testing the must. Then came the highlight: harvest participation. Outfitted with white t-shirts and Panama hats, we rode into the vineyards in a work truck with Lucas, the head of harvest. Shears in hand, we picked Alicante Bouschet (a red-fleshed grape) and Trincadeira alongside seasoned workers who made us look slow by comparison. The vines showed signs of stress from the hot sun, but the setting—rows of vines overlooking a castle and valley—was incredible. Back at the winery, the adventure continued with traditional foot-trodding in the granite lagar. Wearing fisherman-style waders, we climbed in and learned the technique: knees high, marching in place to keep the skins submerged during fermentation. It was an amazing way to connect with a centuries-old winemaking tradition. After cleaning up, we sat down for a multi-course lunch prepared by the Ramos family’s private chef. Each dish was beautifully paired with the estate’s wines, and João’s wife, Ana, personally stopped by to greet us. The combination of hospitality, food, wine, and scenery made for an epic experience. If you want more than just a tasting—if you want to see, feel, and live the winemaking process—João Portugal Ramos Winery is a must-visit in Alentejo. Make reservations, you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend!
More Portugal than you can imagine. Fine wine and food. Amazing!
I did the wine tour and degustation lunch. It was a nice introduction to the wines. You could fall in love with the wines and send a whole box home. Beautiful vineyard and tour.
We booked a wine tasting for two. We had tasting of 4 wines which were all fabulous and the tasting included some olive pate, cheese and some crispy bread with oregano and olive oil all were fabulous components to have with the wine. We left with 2 cases. Highly recommend.
We were passing by while on holiday in the Alentejo Region. The staff are amazingly welcoming and friendly. Having been a few vineyards, the wines they have here are amazing. We ended up buying a few to take back home in the UK. Thank you very much for your amazing hospitality. We felt like we got VIP treatment, specially because we hadn’t booked or anything. Thanks again
We had an unforgettable experience at João Portugal Ramos Winery in Estremoz. From the peaceful setting to the incredible hospitality, everything was designed to help us unwind and enjoy the best of Alentejo. Our guide, Marcia, was outstanding—warm, knowledgeable, and wonderfully attentive. She answered every question with care and made the tasting both fun and educational without ever feeling rushed. The lunch was exceptional. The alheira starter was rich and flavorful, and the bacalhau à Vila Santa was easily one of our favorite dishes of the trip. Each course was paired with a standout wine, including the Quinta da Viçosa, the Duorum Reserva, and the Marquês de Borba Reserva—all added to the experience. And their Port wine? A perfect finish. This visit was a true highlight of our time in Portugal. If you’re anywhere near Estremoz, don’t miss this winery.

We had an amazing experience at this winery! The tour was incredibly interesting, and Maria did an excellent job explaining in English about the different types of wine, the production methods, and the processes the wine undergoes at the winery. The wine tasting was fantastic – we really enjoyed all the wines. On top of that, the view from the winery is absolutely stunning. Highly recommended!
This is a great tour by guides who truly love what they are doing. The guides take the time to answer your questions, and they did a great job explaining the process of making wine. Of course, sampling the wine was pretty good as well. Definitely recommend getting reservations. Lots of parking and easy to find. A special thanks to Madelina, our guide. She was very special. She loves people, and she loves her job. We felt like we had won the lottery when we met her.
What an amazing place to visit! Spectacular wines and so warm and pleasant introduction to Tiago Canaco wines by Maria, that once I left the winery, I was already thinking to come back ))) Maria elaborated every single detail of each wine, explained best pairings, history on the winery and their innovative approach. The wines are simply devine! Exeeded all my expectations! Been in 100+ wine yards in Italy, France, Spain, Moldova, Romania, US, New Zealand, South Africa, so more or less knew what to expect. Tried various wines and each was simply amazing in its own way. Bravo!!! Will be more than happy to pay a visit to Tiago Cabaco again and enjoy sweet presentation by Maria :))) P.S. attended the place on 4.11 (my birthday) and took 0411/1200 bottle of white - Blog 2023. Strange coincidence, however the wine is truly stunning 😍🍷
Nice wi ery. We were off-season and the only ones there for a tour and tasting. The host was wonderful explaining the brand, varietals and bottling. Wines were nice, varied. Situated across from scenic Estremoz with a large glass window the setting was wonderful. Wines are inexpensive to Americans and well crafted. I would advise the tour and/ or a few bottles to go.
Tiago Cabaço is a true visionary, carrying forward a long family tradition of winemaking in the Alentejo region. His winery embodies both worlds: large-scale production that creates high-end, award-winning wines recognized globally, alongside accessible, affordable bottles crafted for the everyday tables of hardworking locals. Our tour, guided by Marianá, was a highlight of our trip. She shared not only the history of the vineyards, but also the personal journey of bringing wine from farm to table with care and dedication. The passion and authenticity of her storytelling deepened our appreciation for each glass. We left with the sense that Tiago’s wines are not only a product of the land, but also a reflection of family, innovation, and vision. We are excited to bring this experience home to Canada, sharing both the flavours and the story of Tiago Cabaço’s craft.
Our visit to Tiago Cabaço Winery in Estremoz was an unforgettable experience. Our guide, Madalena, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, walking us through the winemaking process with great detail. As newcomers to wine culture, we felt engaged and learned so much about the craft behind each bottle. The tour was very enriching, and the wine tasting itself was a highlight, with Madalena offering insightful tips on how to fully appreciate each wine. I highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting the region!
Amazing visit - beautiful Portuguese homemade vineyard . You should book a tasting / tour in advance . Takes about 1.5 hours if you take your time . We have visited a lot of wineries around the world but this is the first one we actually got to see the bottling process which was amazing . Wines are so delicious . Highly recommend this beautiful vineyard . Thank you for a great experience.
We had an amazing time here. Maria was a fantastic tour guide - very knowledgeable about the wine making process, and the notes on all the wine. She was also great fun! We ended up leaving with a few bottles as we just couldn’t resist.

Great Museum. We were lucky enough to get a guided tour by Bruno, who did an amazing job explaining the exhibits to our daughter, very engaging and knowledgeable.
So many thinga to know about dinossaurs and the planet. Kids really like it and Bruno was a top guide! Recommend to get there at 10am to get the full tour.
A little hidden gem. For me, this is one of the best science museums in Portugal, not because of it's size or quantity of experiences, but because of the reduced amount of visitors (its in a small city) and the way staff manage it. Whitst other science museums in Portugal are very much "go and do your own thing" and where children & adults go around and try everything for as long as they want, this one stood out for me with it's personalised learning experience that is super fun and educational for children. The instructor speaks well in both English and Portuguese, and it's great at explaining things. They can afford to do this due to the low amount of visitors (there was only us and another couple during our visit), but we literally had an instructor from the start to the end of the visit, explaining things about dinosaurs, density, volcanos, earthquakes, under water pressure (inside a fake submarine) and rock formations as the "guided" visit went on. All the children were super engaged and it created the perfect sinergy between fun and education. Beyond this, you can also see a nearly full size replica of a T-Rex right as the visit starts - you can imagine how that's super cool for children (and for adults that want their IG selfies, Google reviews, etc). :) 100% recommended.
Covers dinosaur and geology mostly. Plenty of interactive exhibits. I turned up with a 9 and 11 year old and got a 2 hour tour in English. The great advantage of going of a museum off the beaten track!
My son loves this place and we ended up buying yearly tickets to all of the science centers in Portugal
Very nice place to learn science to all public, excellent facilities!
It's a litle old but the tecnology is very good.

This place is a real hidden gem! The food is on the highest, bursting with flavor. Do not miss the wild boar croquettes and the deconstructed Bacalhau à Bras - both were phenomenal.
Beautiful restaurant location in the middle of the vign fields. I had a pork cheek dish which was really tasty, large portion as well. but the dog fish was average. also the starters of goat cheese and peppers were OK. The service was excellent.
Incredibile restaurant that ai can't recommend more. The food is amazing! Don't miss the boar croquettes and the black pork dish, but honestly, everything else works too! Aa for wines, they're all excellent but I recommend the white Reserva. This place is a must!
This place is alittle ways out. But worth the tour to go. The young lady that did our tour was great. Wine tasting was fun and had food with it. There is a restaurant but we didn't go in. We ended up buying some wine to drink at our next stop.
Special occasion dinner, did not disappoint. Very professional throughout whole experience. Beautiful presentation of the delicious food, lovely wine, amazing service. We had 2 courses with wine. Not enough room for desert sadly.
Exellent food and service! Beautyfull surroundings and good wine! Dessert was absoloutley amazing! Possible to make reservation for wine tour. Highly recommend!
Friendly and accessible despite being one of the region's top wineries. Our wine tasting was an absolute blast with the super friendly staff genuinely happy to share their knowledge and introduce us to the flavors and the process. While the winery features a variety of whites, roses, and reds at different price levels, there is also a selection of special blends from outstanding years and experimental wines which are a real treat. Owned by two brothers - an economist and an agrarian - Herdade Das Servas is an intellectually stimulating place to visit as well as a great way to spend an afternoon.
Everything about this place is superb. The new driveway brings you past the front of the restaurant and cellar door which are set atop a rolling hill surrounded by the property's vineyards and gardens. We dined Al fresco (July) on a hot but dry day with a cool breeze. The service was prompt and friendly. We had a child whose meal was served very quickly which kept him calm and preoccupied. We ordered a red and white suggested by our waiter which were wines of finesse and structure. The majority of us had red meat dishes, all of which surpassed our expectations. Perfectly cooked, with great textures and flavours, the red complimented our meals beautifully and delivered a culinary masterpiece. A walk inside the restaurant presented a luxurious and very contemporary dining room which appears to be recently renovated yet maintains the old world charm of a venue and property established in 1687. The cellar door is a well lit space designed to cater for enough curious wine enthusiasts and still have a very intimate discussion with the well versed staff about the history, the varieties, and philosophy of the families winemaking. And yet, despite all this, it is the wines that truly shine here, (on par with the staff) leaving an indelible memory of what Portuguese wines are all about. I'd give everything a 10 if I could and it would be insufficient to truly honour this place and it's people

Recomendable

The lack of wheelchair access is a huge downside.

The gallery had a small exhibition of sculptures and paintings, of which I would highlight a collection of marbles showing typical cuts of meat which, despite being made of marble, had a very real appearance.

(Translated by Google) The castle is closed. We tried to get to the foundation, but due to a landslide, entry is now closed. The castle is very beautiful, but it is not maintained! What a shame. Castles in private hands are what happen! Veiros does not deserve such fate! Thank you to Mr. Domingos, President of the Parish Council, who tried everything to allow us to visit the castle and the church.
A rare castle in private hands - so not open to the public. But you can walk along the outside of the walls. And, see the 2 churchs - and great views of the Montados. Sweet town,
Not open to enter
The view is great but sadly the space is in disrepair and is not safe to walk around.
Very pretty, not open when we visited.
(Translated by Google) The place was closed and it was around 10am. There are 2 beautiful churches next to it, which were also closed. If you go around the wall you will find a dirt road and some stalls, this place could be better maintained. The village around it is cute but there are prettier ones.

It's still a beautiful place to visit and boasts incredible views.
(Translated by Google) Total disappointment. I'd been wanting to visit the castle for a long time, and when I got there, I saw a closed castle overgrown with weeds. The worst part was that there were vegetable gardens and stalls with animals around. A sad view of a beautiful castle seen from afar.

A very well preserved historical building. Quite impressive architecture ensemble from 18th century. Bordeaux like overall impression. Wine tasting highly recommended. The range of wines offers affordable AND small jewels with potential for very decent aging.
Had a chance to visit this beautiful vineyard. Pros: 1) Sara our host was very knowledgeable and friendly. Perfect person to give us a tour 2) It was an exclusive tour for us, not sure if this is the norm. We did have to book it so wife and I were surprised it was just us. 3) Grounds and chapel certainly worth seeing. CONS: 1) EXPENSIVE. To put this in perspective, we toured a vineyard in Algarve. The tour was a similar setup - 3 medium quality wines and 1 Grande Reserva. The Algarve vineyard is much older, grounds are beautiful, and the tour included free use of an infinity pool for the day. It also came with cheese and bread, plus cured meat and Olives. The total cost of that tour was 20 euros per person. This one was 32, quite steep in my opinion. 2) Amount served. I know this was a wine tasting tour, but the 4 wines amounted to about 1 cup total. In the previous tour, we had more than half a glass per wine. We also had time to sample the wine with the cheese, cured Meats, bread and Olives, and time to clear our palate before the next round. We were left to our own while tasting each wine and in total, the previous Algarve vineyard experience of tasting lasted well over an hour. At Dona Maria, it was about 20 minutes - too little wine and time. Sara did not rush us, but there wasn't enough substance there to allow us to linger and savour the wine. As for the price, we are Portuguese. We know what to expect both price and quality-Wise. We feel this was tailored more to foreigners willing to shell out a lot of money for something European, but that's our impression. As to the quality of wines, they are excellent but overpriced. We purchased one very good bottle for over 30 euros, but I know I can get just as good for 15 euros because I know where to look. Obviously we will not return.
Such a great place. Extremely good wines. Beautiful estate. I'm a fan!!
Beautiful property and gardens!
The guide Sara was very informative, she made a great tour exceptional! Parabens!
Amazing! Love this producer! Top class wines and lovely people :)
Great wine production. Nice wine
