A memorable stay, Greece is always a good idea. I traveled in November and I can't tell you how pleasant the weather was. Also, it's much less crowded than in summer. The people are friendly, the food is good, and the water temperature is just right even in November. And there's no shortage of escursions.
Absolutely stunning beach but couldn’t go into the water as there are quite big stones to get over, saw quite a few people fall, the walk to actually get to the beach is quite a way for someone with mobility issues and in that heat it’s not great tbh ….. glad I saw it but had I known all this before I went I would have avoided it
Beautiful place to visit for the gradient colors of the water and for the interesting shell beach. Many baby shells there but unfortunately you cannot take them as souvenirs because it’s a protected zone.
Nice strip of beach, 15 euros with very you two loungers and an umbrella (there is also a euro tourist tax per person). There is a bar on the beach. Sea is lovely and warm, with no sea life to read on apart from some very small fish here and there. Loses a star for the state of the toilets, not quite festival bad, but not good. It's suggest going on the ferry, toilets there are very good.
Nice place to visit. The golden beach is beautiful, but you have to take with you something to eat and drink. Also here you can find a local who sell cold drinks. Have some ice chest where he keep the drinks. For 1 small beer and one coke i paid 7 euro. You don't need necessary the umbrela because there are a lot of threes under you can seat. The color of the water is one of the best around crete. The trip from Ierapretra is around 1 hour. If you don't get food and drink with you, it's possible to buy from the boat at good prices.
Beautiful beach Rock and shell formation is very unique and can be sore on feet. On golden sands turn right, walk past everyone a couple hundred metres and I found a secluded little area.
I enjoy Chrisi. I keep coming back since 7 years now. I particularly enjoy the hotness. And nothing gives me moar pleasure than lying somewhere on Chrisi, enjoying the view.
Amazing place. It is like paradise on earth. Pure sand, turquoise water. Interestingly, you can sleep in your tent. A place that must be seen. There are sun loungers, umbrellas and toilets on the spot, bar with drinks and some food. Descent into the water is a bit rocky, you have to be careful.

Soft sand, clear water, vast space, colorful pebbles, best restaurants. Options for organized areas or unexploited areas.
Súper friendly beach and not so crowded in the middle of the day. In the afternoons there are a lot of people specially families. The only difficulty is if you find wind because it gets wild. Otherwise beautiful coastal area 🌙
Wonderful beach, you can choose either to stay by yourself or to go to the sunbeds. Gorgeous sea and pebbled beach. Unfortunately the surroundings are still dirty, with trash alongside the road.
It is definitely a long beach! Mostly shingle, finer towards the eastern end. Easy access and parking in the middle section, with sunbeds and umbrellas around a beach bar. Water sports are also available. There is also access via a fairly steep track at the western end. Smaller waves than expected for a beach this open, but there are better beaches for swimming and walking. There may be naturists on the western section.
Really long beach, beautiful pebbles, clear waters, kid friendly
Nice beach with nice water. And quiet beach
Great beach where you can be just quiet, without all the touristic crazyness in Northern Crete beaches. Loved to swing in those waters, and the bar over there is great👌
Amazing beach with pebbles. There are sunbeds and umbrellas as well as plenty of free space. Natural shade is limited.

The architectural building does not represent anything special. Only very low doors are impressive. All dictators were or are very low.
There is not much to see here, it is just a house and you cant enter it
Absolutely not worth to travel and visiting this place. As per official opening hours on Google 8:30-15:30, reality on doors 8:30-13:00 but during our visit not opened at all. Very unprofessional not mentioning online they are closed so people don't have to travel. Luckily this town has other interesting places to see including beaches.
Not much to say, good to see a place preserved and renovated and maintained. It was close because it was Sunday.
We saw a little sign poining to “the house of Napoleon”, and decided to take the 50 steps to look at it. The title makes it sound like it is an actual house of Napoleon, so we were suprised that we did not heard of this place before. Upon inspection it was not really noteworthy, as it was only a place that Napoleon may or may not have stayed a night while travelling, also not being a super interesting house (see picture attached). Nothing historically proven, so it should be seen as a local piece of lore. Either way, it’s close to the road where tourists walk past, so can’t hurt to check it out.
Napoleon’s House in Ierapetra is a charming two-story building with classic Greek architecture, located in the historic Kato Mera district. Tradition says Napoleon Bonaparte stayed here during his brief stop in Crete. The building dates back to the late 18th or early 19th century, making it a fascinating piece of local history.
can't go inside but very interesting from the outside. old greek building
Don't recommend to go later than 15.30, because it's closed. It looks like a normal house from the outsidd

Slide 1 of 8
A very well-preserved fort of the Venetian era. It can easily be visited and seen within a few minutes. This was obviously a fort providing a base for the local garisson, far smaller than the massive Venetian fortresses of the northern coastline (Spinalonga Heracleon, Rethymno, Chania, Gramvoussa), comprising the main defensive network of the island during Venetian rule.
The Venetian Fortress of Kales in Ierapetra is a charming historic site by the sea. It sits right at the entrance to the city’s port and is the only remaining fort on the south coast of Crete. Built between the 13th and 15th centuries during the Venetian period, it was later repaired under Turkish rule. The thick stone walls offer great views, making it a peaceful and interesting place to visit.
Not very big, but beautifully restored and an important historical building. Good views from the top, but it won't take you long to explore. Worth a stroll around though and admission is free.
The Fort is closed for fortification at the moment. The narrow alleyways roads recall the towns' Ottoman past. Patience is required to navigate the one way loop you are required to navigate in reaching the fort. I followed directions to the "Port" to reach the location these photos were taken.
Great place to visit. Value for a free walk around is a good time investment.
Beautiful castle on the edge of the old smaller port .now its in the middle of new port .the castle is not open now because of repairs but soon it will again so everyone can climb on the hundreds years old steps. Very nice historical place good experience to visit it.
It was a small fort in the process of being restored. We enjoyed it great spot for photographs. No charge to get in. A must see
It was closed by the time we got there in the evening but it was still beautiful from the outside

Incredible to see how this ancient culture managed to carve massive water tanks out of solid rock at the edge of the sea with nothing more than basic bronze tools. The site isn't well mapped and will require a little bit of gentle climbing to get to, but well worth seeing.
Easy to find with google maps. Near is hotel where they have trash place. Some people probably dont realise that you need to put trash (water bottles etc) to litter and dont leave their garbage at this beautiful place. Beautiful view at beach and Ferma
Super interesting. I'm loving the non mapped and signed archeological sites - it's unique and never seen anything like to before. Worth the couple minutes to find it!
to find the tanks you have to go all the way down through the rocks/cliff. interesting object with a possibility to take a swim nearby.
To go to the sea from there is cool. It has a tiny adventure feeling. Around the water tank no good spot to lay down.
Easy to find, looks cool but no information signs though.
Nice but not much to see.
We couldn’t find it. There is a cliff, but nothing special about it. They’re constructing a new hotel here, so it’s a bit dirty.

Steep, narrow gorge in a wilderness area, with technical canyoning routes & waterfalls.
Slide 1 of 8
Visited the area when there wasn't any water. The whole side of the massive mountain is steep and provides shadow and source of water for many animals. Met few goats there. An amazing scenery of the coast. It's kinda windy there. There is also a small chapel in front of the mountain. Parked next to the chapel.
Beautiful to see, but not accessible without equipment and experience. Information panel visible, large geological fault creates the beautiful and sudden height difference between valley and plateau.
Very beautiful place. If you are coming with a car, look for a church of holy spirit and park your car there. Amazing sight much better from here than from suggested Monastiraki village.
Short and nice must see place. Nothing really special, but almost unique shape of this gorge you will hardly find somewhere else. You can climb up to 10-15 meters to the first water basin. And that's all, because further way only for alpinist. Leave the car 50 meters before small church. Btw this church is open, just pull the door.
Amazing nature. Park by the church and a short walk to the gorge.
very nice. for climbers. there is trails for harness. easy to climb, easy for athletic person. haven't seen anyone. was solo.
Incredible gorge! You'll spot it from a distance as you drive on the main roads. Definitely worth a small detour and a shirt excursion to see up close. Put it on the list of things to come back to and explore by canyoneering down from above! Magnificent!
The Ha Gorge is unusual in that it is extremely narrow, quite short (around 700 metres) and falls 325 metres in that short distance. It isn't possible to walk the gorge; this is one for abseiling and wetsuits. The narrowness and poor access makes this a difficult subject for photography, though there are spots above, below and at the junction with the Mastoras Gorge where photography is possible. For most people, the gorge will remain just a dark slice through the massif of Thripti seen when travelling to or from Ierapetra. Perhaps this is just as well: the gorge is home to several endemic species of plant not found elsewhere in Crete.

A smaller museum, yet well curated for its size. Rich with beautiful artifacts from the local area, mostly focusing on Minoan and Roman periods. Housed in a historic building (not as old as its collection though). Good to know that there seemed to be no air-conditioning, nor gift shop.
small but beautiful collection. the statue of demetra is stunning. cost is 5 euro. you got 3 rooms. there are very interesting things from everyday life. there is very nervous lady on the reception. museum is closed on monday and thuersday.
Excellent little museum collection showing the importance of Irapetra from Minoan times. Some beautiful artefacts and statuary. Staff were friendly and helpful. Recommended
Small but important collection of antiquities from the region. You will need half an hour to walk through it and read through the informative texts. It is closed on Tuesdays.
It was interesting but I have to say that I was expecting something a bit bigger. To see the whole collection takes you maybe about....15-20 minutes? There is also no parking lot which is a price for historical building in the downtown but is still something to bear in mind.
It was a little difficult to find it open. It was small but very interesting with lots of fascinating exhibits and friendly staff
A great place to visit, with some really impressive items.
the museum is very nice but with little things to see. The building is very nice but too small. Don't compare it with a large museum as you will not spend more than 20-30 minutes reading everything. It's nice to see some history about the Minoan ancient times and some maps of the area. The ticket costs 3€ and come with small money as they don't have enough traffic of tourists to exchange high bills.
