Very good options of quality wine! A lovely lady provided us a lovely degustation and tour around! Very nice experience, we left with 4 cases of wine and we will be back ! ;)
We felt very welcome, the lady provided a good explanation of their wines and we had the chance to do some tasting, we bought some amazing bottles. Our dogs were welcome too!
Did a great little wine tasting as part of a Viking cruise. The host gave a great history of the winery and the tasting cellar was a great ambiance for a tasting. We tried some of the best wines, and they threw in a red they have been playing with that was actually pretty good. I think they will get there with the reds with further development. We just had a little palate cleansing bread and stuff for our tasting, but they have food and the menu looked pretty good to me. Didnot have time to go back for a full meal, but per our guide their food was very good. A nice small quaint winery, and I would recommend worth a stop in to check it out in a classically beautiful Germanic medieval architecture
We were welcomed by Monika, a kind lady who knows her wine! She gave us tastings of their Trockens, as we prefer the dry rheislings. It was a lovely visit and we were happy to buy a few bottles.
My wife and I were welcomed for a complete and engaging tasting of more that seven of their excellent wines, all of them Rieslings, and each unique. An education in top Rieslings.
Fantastic wine super nice staff

Informative degustation, delicious wine, cosy backyard to sit and enjoy a glass of a very tasty wine. Best recommendations from us!
Our river cruise tour took us to the Mosel wine museum in the gorgeous, wine country of Bernkastel-Kues, Germany. It is set in cool, vaulted, moodily lit cellar of St. Nicholas hospital. They have the most Moselle Riesling in the world, with over a hundred varieties. For a small fee, you can can sample any wine that you like on your own. Each wine has all off the information clearly displayed with which winery that it comes from. My wife loves wine, I don’t drink it at all, but I did really enjoy the experience. The dry wine is in one wing and the sweeter wine is in another. I actually liked some of the sweeter wines, but I was mostly there for morale support! My wife absolutely loved the wines and bought a few bottles to take to Paris. Upstairs the helpful staff made it easy to find the wine that you liked in the cellar. I suggest taking a picture of the wine that you chose, as they really have a wide selection. They even have a cool event room in the cellar with seating, tables and chandeliers. A lovely, unique experience in a beautiful, historic city on the Mosel river. A fun experience.
The wine museum was closed indefinitely, but we were able to explore the wine cellar. The tasting was $20+ euros with access to over 300 wines, which seemed worth it even though we originally went for the museum. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff and most wines were stocked. Would definitely recommend!
You can test everything with paying 20euro for the glass. The manager was very attentive and explained a lot about the wine.
We visited here as part of a river cruise group. The place closed at five and we arrived at four. We had a blast going through the extensive cellar and tasting all the different varieties in such a short amount of time. We wished there was a wine cellar like this back home.
It was a lovely place with a lot of great wine to taste which helped us a lot in deciding what to buy
A superb discovery where you can help yourself to taste over 100 local wines from small to large producers at your own pace for €18 (or less if you have a Bernkastel guest pass). Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff (who very kindly spoke good English!) who were very helpful and not at all pushy to sell. You can then either buy a glass and enjoy there with a warm Pretzel, or purchase to take with you, all excellent value. A great way to introduce yourself to a wide range of Mosel wines.
We loved this place. I wish I could shop there more often. Can you help us find the wine shown in the image here in the States or somehow I can get it shipped. I loved it. Thanks.

Castle ruins with panoramic views & a modern restaurant offering elevated German cuisine.
Slide 1 of 8
Well worth the 20-minutes walk up to the castle ruins from the centre of town. Several interpretive boards explaining the history of the site (German and English) and super views down onto the Mosel river. There is a lift at the bottom of the castle grounds for those with limited mobility. A ticket is needed to get up to the top of the tower. Highly recommended.
This is a magical place to visit based on the location and the atmosphere. The modern restaurant is situated in an old castle ruin on the top of a hill overlooking the Mosel river and the city of Berncastel-Kues. This place is definitely worth a visit even if the quality of the food is very uneven. We had two great entrees and one decent main course and a poor one. Make sure to walk around the ruins when you visit. The parking lot is a few hundred meters from the restaurant but it is a beautiful walk. If you bring someone who cannot make the walk on the uneven ground you can actually drive to the foot of the stairs leading to the restaurant.
We arrived late for our reservation due to poor GPS directions. We called from.the car to let the restaurant know. We were told no problem. Once we arrived, we were greeted by Felix who spoke great English and he immediately started providing excellent service. He was joined by Selina who promptly took our order to ensure that we met the 8pm deadline for closing of the kitchen. Our food and drinks were exceptional. The service exceeded our expectations. Our party of four left with very satisfied appetites, as the portions were such that we were afforded room for dessert. The prices were surprisingly reasonable for the entrees, drinks, and dessert.
Super place for a table with a view if lucky enough to get a window seat. Panoramic view of River Moselle and Bernkastel town below. Well worth a steepish walk uphill from the town. Good choice of food and drink to suit all price ranges, starting from basic Currywurst. Service was slow due to large party booked in.
Beautiful castle ruins in the Black Forest with a top-notch h restaurant nestled into the side of the mountain. Highly recommend!
Bernkastel was very busy on a Saturday afternoon in July so we drove up to Burg Landshut. From the carpark it's a steep but short walk down to the castle. (Up on the way back though there seemed to be a shuttle provided at some times) The views are just lovely and there is a panoramic cafe which serves drinks and meals. You can climb up the tower.
Nice viewpoint a short walk from the centre. The restaurant is amazing. Best baked cheesecake I have had in a long time!
Ruins of a small castle overlooking Bern-Kastel. I haven't ate at the restaurant yet, but I hear it's good. There are really good views from the top of the tower (1€ to go up) and it's a nice little hike from the town below (Alternatively you can drive up too a nearby parking lot with free parking!)

Next to the tourist inf. on the opposite sidewalk to the quay there is an electric charger for battery bikes. A Pakistani restaurant next to the hotel Bernkasteler hof. They served the best wine steak with sauce. I have tasted it for a long time. It was thick, crispy and juicy. Skilled Indian chef. I can recommend. There is a full house, and take away is possible. The town itself has several small squares with many options. I bought local wines. The Msel river is beautiful today and moonlight. Visit the castle or the mountain restaurant with a view. A very beautiful and scenic city with a great deal of things to see. A wonderful place for photographers and going for walks.
Local history combined with an extensive and beautiful wine shop including cellar with bottles from a selection of local wineries including great houses like J.J. Prüm and Markus Molitor. The site also features the oldest home for the elderly that it's still in use.
Nicholas of Kued founded this place.
Best way to get experienced with german white wines, this is an absolute must visit.

Do email to reserve as they are very responsive with emails. Arrived at the Dr loosen with is 2mins north of Bernkastel-Kues. Parking is on the street off the property. A buzz of the door bell on the outer wall and we were ushered in. Interior is more German minimalistic style with various tables set up for wine tasting with shelves of wine around. Our wine tasting was done by Naomi who is from Oregon,US who married a family member. Good introduction to terroir and wines as well as different styles from different villages of the Mosel as well as taste structure . Her inside knowledge of the wines and the production , with good visual aids from blown up photos and samples of actually slates and rocks. Excellent wine tasting of 5 wines. We discussed the different types of classification as well : 1G, GG and also fein herb. Go for the alte rebe which means old grape vines which usually are the more high quality wines. Highly enjoyable experience. It cost 15 euros and you can buy the wine off their price list.
This review concerns the place and experience, not the wine. Beautiful estate, only accessible for tasting by (paid) appointment. You pay €15 for 5 wines to taste, with remarkably small portions. We (4 people) were seated at a table with a total of 7 people. An employee told us a somewhat generic story about the wines but was otherwise friendly. After the tasting, we wanted to try some additional wines to decide what to purchase. We were told that we could taste 2 additional wines but would be charged for a more expensive arrangement. We agreed, as we were curious and motivated to buy more. It turned out that for those 2 additional sips (that’s all they were), we were charged an extra €10 per person. The lady helping us at that point made some clearly negative remarks about our group to one of her colleagues as she was getting our wines. Overall, we experienced our visit as rather unpleasant and not hospitable. It was only made worse by the stinginess of the portions and the lack of flexibility in allowing additional tastings. We visited quite a few other estates in the region, covering a wide spectrum of wine quality—all of which we would recommend over this one.
We stayed in the guesthouse at Dr Loosen and loved it. Wonderful room, luxurious bathroom with a walk out patio with a great view of the model river. Great breakfast included with eggs made to order. There are two flights of stairs to your room, if that is a concern to you. It is a short walk to the town with nice restaurants and tasting rooms. Oh, and the best reason to stay there , of course are there wonderful wines , which can be tasted for a small fee, right below! Make a reservation to taste. A fantastic experience!
What a great wine tasting experience. Azul helped us though or entire tasting experience explaining the various wines, regions, soil types and micro-climates that affect the Dr. Loosen wines. Her expertise and enthusiasm really helped become enthusiastic and excited to try each new bottle she brought out. I highly recommend checking out this great tasting room. Don't forget to look at the decor for mosaics of wine making. Email ahead to guarantee availability.
We had the pleasure of sampling some of the finest wines we’ve tasted during our visit to the Mosel Region. This winery truly elevated the quality of Mosel wines. The wine tasting took place in their charming and inviting tasting room, evoking the ambiance of a Californian wine tasting experience. Our knowledgeable host, Levan, shared a wealth of knowledge about their 93-acre vineyard, primarily situated on the south facing banks of the Mosel River. This winery undoubtedly produces some exceptional wines. We were warmly welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
We've visited Dr. Loosen in October 2022. They have a nice selection of wines. And they can answer all of the questions you have. Highly recommended! But it would be nice to add a tour around winery or something similar.
Amzing wines are being made here. The young lady tour guide was exceptionally educates and aware of every single detail from viticulture to wine making techniques to wine laws. As a wine maker I could make the maximum from this visit. Many thanks for your great hospitality.
Great wines in a fantastic winery, a step away from mosel. The tasting was quite informative as well, considering the wines and different terroirs in the region.

We are auto enthusiasts, 0and this place is heaven. Creative displays of many rare car and motorcycles make it fun. People with disabilities would be able to access all of the floors because they have an elevator and excellent parking.
This museum is awesome. Shows the automobile and technological history of Geemany. It's small but the cars and materials are very well preserved and was a worthwile visit in the Moselle Valley.
Really beautiful museum with more than 160 cars and bikes (mostly German - DKV, AU, NSU, some BMW and VW). Worth visiting - complaint with disabled, handicapped parking, handicapped access. Unfortunately no tickets for disabled persons - so you pay normal fee. Besides cars and bikes a lot of different items about XIX era - so with smell of old cars you feel like you were teleported to 1970!
Excellent, pretty extensive vintage car, motorbike and general vintage history museum. Beautiful spaces and exhibits, well presented.
We visited the zylinderhaus in October 2022 and enjoyed our visit. We did think 15€ was maybe a little bit expensive, but you can really see that the building and general presentation standard is very high. We also enjoyed playing on some of the vintage pinball machines and air hockey. The car collection is very German biased along with the motorbikes. Otherwise the museum contains an impressive collection of old typewriters, cameras, toys and other items in little shopfront recreations. We spent about 1h30 at the museum and felt we had throughly seen everything. It kept us occupied in the morning before the sun came out to enjoy the Moselle.
Don't miss this, what a jewel in the area's crown. Not vehicle fanatics but there is something for everyone. Special mention for the street displays with the fascinating shops.
Well worth a look for any car or bike enthusiast
A really nicely done and interesting museum dedicated to German cars and motorbikes. Inside there are mock-ups of old shops which are interesting, and I like how they have repurposed old TVs to show various videos. The big automated music box is impressive.also check out the perfect acoustics right in front of the shops where you only need to whisper to be heard. The entrance price was a little steep but the museum is very well maintained with not a speck of dust to be seen.

So the weekend before Christmas the whole family decided to drive to the two small towns of Cochem and Bernkastel Kues. The two towns are small and pretty and not too crowded, especially during a pandemic like this. Due to Covid, Christmas markets across Germany have been canceled. Instead of organizing a Christmas market with countless wooden stalls as usual, Bernkastel will decorate the whole city and especially the old town area. Small Christmas stalls are scattered throughout the street as well as along the banks of the Mosel River. Because hotels and motels in Germany are not currently open, we just went quickly for a day and then returned - we hope to return to the Moselle valley next year with countless beautiful small ancient towns like this for a longer stay - At that time I will have a thorough review for everyone :) (Original) Bình thường mình không thích chốn đông người, nhưng Giáng sinh là một ngoại lệ. (Translated by Google) A wonderful Whitsun Sunday on the Moselle Our visit to the winery of Wwe. Dr. H. Thanisch, Erben Thanisch in Bernkastel was a real highlight – charming, authentic, and unforgettable. This traditional family winery impressed us with an exciting and personal wine tasting. Upon our arrival – despite being half an hour early due to ignorance – we were warmly welcomed by Christina. We found a cozy spot under the fig tree and quickly helped distribute the seat cushions. Even the brief shower didn't dampen the mood... The manor house, built in 1884, in a prime location overlooking the Moselle is worth a visit in itself – historic elegance meets natural beauty. The wine bar offers not only excellent wines, but also fine culinary delights – perfectly paired with a relaxing glass of Riesling. The following wines particularly stand out in my memory: 2022 Bernkastel-Kues Riesling Alte Reben, VDP.ORTSWEIN 2024 DOCTOR Riesling Kabinett fruity sweet, VDP.GROSSE LAGE On this exciting afternoon, we were able to experience a wide range of wines – from dry to off-dry to fruity sweet Spätlese. Each wine impressed with its distinctive character, elegance, and depth. My personal highlight, however, was the 2023 Riesling Sekt brut – light, fruity, yet full of character. How wonderful that Riesling sparkling wines with traditional bottle fermentation are gaining attention again. A true enrichment! You immediately sense that history is alive here – and at the same time, modern, sustainable viticulture is practiced with great sensitivity. Old cellars, spontaneous fermentation, classic aging in barrels – all supported by true craftsmanship and conviction. The winery Wwe. Dr. H. Thanisch, Erben Thanisch is a true gem on the Mosel. Anyone who loves Riesling – in all its facets – should definitely stop by. I'll definitely be back. Because: It doesn't always have to be dry. Acidity and fruity sweetness in perfect harmony – that's not a crime, but a poem. Thank you so much for this wonderful afternoon and the wonderful introduction to the world of fruity Mosel Rieslings! Wer Riesling liebt – in all seinen Facetten – sollte hier unbedingt vorbeischauen.

The owner was very welcoming and chatted with us, telling us about the history of the 12th-generation winery. A very beautiful location with a view of the Moselle River and a very friendly hostess with interesting information about the winery and the wines. A definite recommendation! The house and grounds, the terrace with a view of the Moselle, the hospitality, conversation, snacks, and of course the house wines were all fantastic! We felt very comfortable and are already looking forward to the delivery of the wines we ordered. Thank you for a wonderful break and such a pleasant time! Fantastic shop for all kind of wine and spirits very friendly service A lot of tasting possibilities
UPDATE: ** In response to your response. I can absolutely without a doubt tell you that we were told to come inside. We waited at the door and were told to come inside. My husband is German. It was told to him in German. We were surprised and we were expecting to wait because we saw the sign explaining that only 2 people are allowed in the shop at one time. There were already 2 people in there. Once we were told very rudely to leave, the other 2 customers who were still inside looking around, stayed inside, and the man working told the others waiting in line that they could come in. (Which was more than 2 people). So under no circumstances was this a misunderstanding. Please stop trying to use the excuse of assuming that this was a language issue. This was anything but that. We were very excited to go inside and find a few new wines, drinks and possibly some mustard to try. There was no line when we arrived but 2 customers already in the shop. We got waved inside to come in. We only got to look at one side of the shop, we had been inside maybe 3 minutes, when we were asked if we needed any help, I replied that we were still looking, and got told that there were people waiting outside to get in so I needed to hurry up and leave (while tapping his watch)..... bearing in mind that the customers who were already inside when we walked in, were not asked to hurry and leave.. just us. We didn't even bother to look on the other side as I felt this was very rude and disrespectful to assume that their time was worth more than ours. I'm guessing the man thought we were not going to spend any money.. which was a very wrong assumption. I almost felt like this man judged us based on what we looked like to figure out if we had money to spend. I understand with the circumstances with covid, that things are hard, but being rude and making observations to kick people out to make a profit just felt like pure discrimination. I very rarely post reviews, but I felt others should know about our experience. It was awful.
It was a nice and hospitality place to buy a wine. It is possible to taste which one you would like to buy it. There are many and very attractive options. I was undecided which one to choose. :) They adviced me a good selection friendly. If you visit Bernkastel-Kues, don't leave without stopping by here. It was a wonderful experience for me.
We were in the store no longer than five minutes before a store employee informed us that there is a line outside so we must hurry up and leave so that the people waiting outside could come in. This was not done in a polite manner either. We were excited to see what they had, but apparently, customer service is not a priority in this establishment.
Very helpful and quality wines!
Average wine shop. Staff is helpful and informative. Selection of wine and other items are displayed and you are able to taste samples. Easy to find and large parking lot across the street on the river bank.
Great wine selection. Knowledgeable staff very helpful and nice. Tourist price but well worth it.

Clean and great range of products
The underground parking was a pleasant surprise. No place to lock up bikes outside the store. With as many campers and travels this seems odd. The drink selection is a bit small but the meats looked great. Good place to stock up.
Significantly more expensive than comparable establishments such as Aldi and Lidl.
Convenient supermarket in Kues. Very handy for soft drinks and a bottle of wine for the hotel balcony!
Very good but a bit pricey
They had all we want
Its ok supermarket. Only the vegetables are not so good usually, you find them much better in Lidl. There is also a bagery and free 30 min parking.
Was good except the DHL inside that lost my package and till now still tracing it ...sad 😢😭 after one month....it's very important.

There is a clear poster exhibition that shows the diversity of the personality of Nicholas of Cusa. And Mr. Kluth, the museum director, who is an almost inexhaustible source of further information. There are a few objects. They make it clear that Nicholas of Cusa was interested in mathematics and astronomy. And do you know his ball game? In addition, acoustic art is regularly offered here. Please take a look at the events calendar. With so much good, there are also shadows. The house is not suitable for wheelchair users and the toilets can only be reached via steps. Visually impaired people should confide in the museum director. There are a few tactile objects and his narrative.
