Lake

The mountains are mirrored in this expansive, tranquil lake for swimming & other water sports.
Slide 1 of 8
Much quieter than lake bled with regular transport links from bled and Ljubljana. People swim, hire paddleboards etc from here. A few bar/restaurants to choose from. The church you can climb the tower and see the inside for a few euros. It was very pretty inside the tower did have some information. I would say there is more to see in this church than the one on the island in Bled.
Very tranquil, placid, clam, mirror lake with clear see-through waters. Surroundings make photos surrealistic, especially early in the morning with the low hanging clouds and misty layers. Boat rides available. Walk around the whole lake takes about two to three hours depending on speed.
A lake where there is a wonderful energy and you calm down by it. It takes you into meditation. You can also go SUP, boating or just swimming. I really recommend a visit.
Peaceful, natural, and absolutely beautiful! Lake Bohinj is less crowded than Lake Bled but just as stunning—maybe even more for nature lovers. Surrounded by mountains and crystal-clear water, it’s perfect for swimming, kayaking, or just relaxing by the shore. The atmosphere is calm and untouched, great for hiking and enjoying the fresh alpine air. We loved the scenic views and the overall peaceful vibe. A hidden gem in Slovenia! It has plenty of parking and at less cost compared to lake bled. It's bigger and calm.
Campers delight! Just 40 mins from bled- this lake is stunning and located between Julian Alps! We found a nice parking spot towards end of the lake away from commercial area! Water a bit chilly even during 26-27 degrees but very clean!
It's trully magical place! Incredibly beautiful setting. A big hike around the lake is highly recommended.
It is a much larger lake compared to Lake Bled and makes you feel more immersed in nature. I recommend exploring the shores and nearby areas within the Ukanc region. It’s definitely one of the natural beauties that must be seen in Slovenia. Although Bled is more charming, this place is far more magnificent.
What a special place. The mountains rising up to the sky and eventually coming down to the shores of the lake were spectacular. The Chrystal clear water of the lake was so inviting. Have to bring a swimsuit next time I’m here.

Very nice place with perfect ski option The place has a perfect view to Bohinj lake and all around Recommended to visit
Vogel loop hike: Very nice intermediate hike/climb, good for hikers who have some experience and want to get their first stripes in mountaineering. Most of the hike is quite easy, from the gondola to the orlove glave (mountain hut & restaurant) is only a path that is normally a ski slope, they can be a bit steep at times but you walk over grass so there is zero technicality involved. You can also decide to take this part by ski lift. At the hut there is small summit with a cross and bell that requires a little bit of technique but is a fun side quest or finish (in case you don't want to do the full loop) with already a great view. After this you got more hiking through pine bushes which is mostly flat until you arrive at another ski slope which is a small climb. After this you will see the summit of Sija, the first of the 2 mountains on the traditional loop, you can skip this summit by going right at the base of the summit if you want to go straight to vogel and have a slightly easier route. If you climb this mountain though, you can follow a beautiful path over the mountain ridge that will intercept with the route you could take to skip this peak. The Sija is worth it but will require more technique as it's a more difficult mountain to climb than the Vogel, it requires good scramble technique and is more exposed. After the interception of the 2 routes you will have to climb down a few hunderd meters and will have to use some ladders. Then, the final climb to the vogel begins. Exposure is minimal but light scrambling and some via ferrata is required. These sections (like the Sija summit) can be considered as mountaineering and not hiking, it is not difficult but take your time. Talking about time, make sure you have enough of it. The last gondola goes down at 6 o'clock and if you miss this you will have to walk down a ski slope that descends around 1000 meters in about 7 km and it's entirely a gravel road, I took this road down and it's pretty boring, hiking sticks are an absolute must. Walk down from vogel back go the gondola is probably the least interesting part of the hike. It isnt as engaging as the first half. It might be more fun to do the loop counter clockwise as you will do the hut near the end and have the option to do the rest of the descent via skilift, ending your hike at the hut and making getting some victory drinks. Overall, I highly recommend doing this loop, the views at Sija and especially at Vogel are amazing, definitely worth the effort.
This a must to do in Slovenia You need to take the gondola at the Vogel ski center (parking is free if you take the Gondola) After you take the second chair lift and still go up to the third chairlift (this one is not working during the summer) The hike itself takes about 4hours to go up the Vogel summit (for approximately 8km) There is one section pretty steep but well protected by wire cable
Never seen such a beautiful view, there is a choice to go by foot or on a cable car. Best place for some snacks.
We did a circular (anti clockwise) hike from the cable car station, up to Mt Vogel, a quick lie down in some snow to cool down, build a snowman and on to Mt Šija before stopping off for some food before we then decided to get the free chair lift back to the cable car as it was 30°+ and the last mile or so is pretty boring ! Stunning views but it'll test your quads and stamina ! 6.5 miles / 2850ft elevation. Take water and a lot of it ! Youtube: tomstourswithmore
This is a ski 🎿 place in winter. But during summer you can go to hike up on the mountains. It has a good view of the Bohinj lake as well. Remember, when you get out of the cable car, it is your only chance to get some photos of the lake, when you walk and pass, no view of the lake.
Very nice experience there, it s the bighest point in Triglav where youcan take cabin up, so if you travelling with children it s right choice for you, plenty views, restaurant. The main view is awesome with Bohinjski lake of course, plenty of parking spaces on the bottom, cabin price is OK, you just have to wait for it as it going up every 30 minutes, it s crowdy when you going down, but happy for this experience.
The views are great The facilities are limited. Not much of kids playgrounds or point of interest. Not much of easy trails variety.

Without the help of the statues I may not find Triglav. Really I expected it to be much more "three-headed" (while it's kinda two-headed 😅). It's nothing like on the flag...
Nice memorial of the first conquerors of Mount TRIGLAV.
It’s not the monument, but the stunning scenes in the backdrop that is the draw.
Statue of the 4 men who 1st climbed triglav, highest peak in the country. Bohinj natives. Also, they kind of look towards the 3 peaks (hence the name triglav - three heads), so you can orient, if you are having trouble locating it, since there are peaks all around bohinj.
Ribcev Laz - Monument to four courageous men In the background, on the left, the highest mountain in Slovenia - Triglav Ribcev Laz is a village in the Bohinj municipality. It is situated in the eastern part of Bohinj and represents the centre of the happening and the most known image of Bohinj. The inhabitants were primary farmers, but today is the main income from tourism. In Ribcev Laz are the greatest remarkablenesses the John the Baptist's Church, which is today under the memorial protection, the monument to four courageous men, which was erected in the year 1978 and the statue of Goldenhorn. At Ribcev Laz is also a stony wall, which is situated near the inn Pod skalco and is perforated from the sea shells.

Great little museum that gives you a glimpse of the traditional life and cheese making of the people of the region! Very well done, and everything was also in English. Loved the enthusiasm and knowledge of museum guide! Thank you so much for an amazing experience!
Our tour took us to this perfect little agricultural village where our host had prepared a cheese (with bread) tasting along with an entertaining talk. Tables were set inside and out the quaint and very old cottage. I loved the smoked cheese and the sheep's cheese. At the end we tried a very smelly and strange tasting fermented cheese.
Great museum bringing to life how it was to tend dairy cows and make cheese in the area. Curator was helpful when we asked questions.
Well worth a visit. Exhibit is in many languages
Well worth the money and time. Great info boards with everything translated to English. The guide was very enthusiastic and helpful which really lifted the visit up even more. Her English was perfect as well. Lots to learn about the history of the region through reading the boards and talking to the guide.
Tiny museum, but gives a very nice look into the lives and work of dairy farmers. The guide gave amazing detailed information, as well as many tips about the surrounding area and fun places to explore. Absolutely wonderful.
Beautiful meseum with objects and photographic documentation of extraordinary value. An entire wood house tipical of alpine pasture, was disassembled and riassembled here in the 1960’s to save it from 'abandonment. The museum was a dairy house and you can still see also the machinary used to make cheese. Very important place to visit and understand the land culture.
Really nice, small and well documented museum. We were greeted by a very friendly local women who gave us more insights of the cheese making process and history.

Summit overlooking Lake Bohinj, with hiking trails across wooded slopes & through alpine meadows.

Pršivec is a mountain located above lake Bohinj. It is 1761 meters high. It is an easily marked path, which is slightly steeper in certain parts. In winter, caution and approppriate are definitely needed. The walk is about an hour and a half in one direction. From the top you have a beautiful view of the lake and the surrounding mountains.
Amazing views over to Vogel and down to Ukanc. One of my fav hikes in Julian Alps! Highly recommend
Nice mountain, but steep climb at the end. The view is nice and with good weather you can see the Triglav. It was a nice hike and we had a good time going around. It also has a stemple! Amazing!
Pršivec at 1762 m greets you with a breathtaking view of the lake and sorrounding mountains. The hike is definitely worth a few minutes spent at the top. Tip: If you suffer from vertigo, I recommend taking the easier path from Bregarjevo Zavetiščě.
Nice view of lake and Bohinj
(Translated by Google) Very beautiful hike and beautiful mountain! Be careful the last 50 meters are climbing! We were still able to take the dogs there but you have to be prepared. There is snow on the north face in May so also be careful of that and the risk of injury.
(Translated by Google) Very nice hike that is rewarded with a beautiful view of the lake and the Triglav. There were lots of goats on the summit who had fun licking our arms. Very nice. A bit steep on the sea side.
(Translated by Google) An excellent via ferrata from Ukanc, which we can finish halfway and return along the scree back to the lake, or we can continue along the via ferrata and climb to Pršivec and return to Pl. Viševnik and back to Črne Jezera across Komarča to Savica or to Lake Bohinj, approximately 18km.

This info center was very useful, we got maps, tips and we could rent bikes. Service was nice and friendly, bikes in good conditions and prices very competitive: we got 2 mountain bikes, with helmets and locker for 4h for 34€. It is right in front of the lake, close to supermarket and local shop. We had nice experience
Good place for having some actual informations. And some local products and souvenirs for shopping. Typical tourist info center:
We went to get some information and ended up buying a Julian Alps Card. With this card some of the attraction are free and others gets discount. The lady explained everything nicely and also gave us the time table of the boats and the cable cars, but when we wanted to go on the boat and cable car, we discovered it was still closed for maintenance. So it did seem a bit of a waste. I would recommend visitors makes sure all the attractions are open before spending money on the card. The card did come in handy for parking.
The ladies working here are very helpful, they managed to help us with something completely out of their regular scope - finding a ring lost in the river. Within few hours they tracked people with correct training & equipment who managed to recover missing item (on a Saturday morning I might add). 5/5 stars, would recommend although I hope I don't need that kind of help again 😅
Some very lovely and helpful staff here. Helped me hugely with a tricky 3 bus + 1 train trip to Bovec, I'm very grateful for this. Hired an ebike for a day and it was faultless too! Thank you. :)
Fine services, the girls explained everything to us, we talked in English, all for equipped, satisfaction.
The lady at the counter was very hostile and condescending. It seemed like she didn't want to help us. Instead she blamed us for knowing too little and being too late. Also, she didn't help us find alternative routes. Only when we suggested other options did she elaborate rudely. The other employee was nice and helpful. But the woman really isn't capable of doing her job. She shouldn't work with tourists or people in general.
Well organized place with very kind and helpful staff. The people working here are very knowledgeable and can provide great tips for your trips in the area.

Nature preserve

Beautiful waterfall and bigger than we expected! We parked at the base (€5 for up to three hours), paid €4 to enter (€2.50 for people 65 and over), and then walked about 20 minutes to the top. We spent around an hour there in total, including the hike We arrived around 8:15am on a Wednesday in late August. We had no trouble finding parking and there weren't many people at the waterfall when we were there.
One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Slovenia. You need to arrive very early to admire it. It's difficult to take photos on weekends. There's an entrance fee. From the parking lot, it's about a 10-minute walk to the waterfall. The walk to the waterfall is easy. There's a place to eat near the parking lot. Overall, I recommend it.
About 20 minutes along a well-maintained path from the parking lot to the waterfall. Probably a longer stop for a photo at the waterfall. Otherwise, a beautiful and powerful waterfall. Worth a visit and a hike
Nice walk up the beautiful stairs. Over 500 of them, with resting areas if you get tired or just want to enjoy the nature. Awesome view, you can also see the lake.
A quick walk from the parking, or a good 40 minute cycle ride from the town up a lot of elevation brings you to this monstrosity of a waterfall- formed by two separate streams combining at the valley, it creates two waterfalls at the same spot. The water is spectualur and powerful. You cannot get into the water however, it is closed by a gate for safety.
Wonderful hike in the autumn scenery. Few people, slightly foggy giving the hike romantic touch. The waterfall is beautiful and the hike is doable for everyone.
A popular tourist spot, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself surrounded by quite a few fellow adventurers—especially during peak hours or season. To reach the waterfall, you’ll need to hike uphill a bit; it’s not too long, but you’ll feel the incline. Locals say it used to be more peaceful and romantic, but even now it’s still beautiful. The water roars, the cameras click, and if you're lucky, you might just catch the ghost of Slovenia’s national poet lingering nearby. :)
Very nice waterfall in this area, before entering the sidewalks to the waterfall is an entrance center, where you need to buy tickets. The road to the waterfall takes about 30 minutes, leading to the waterfall 551 steps, and there are also benches to relax. Not Hye it is difficult, they can do it with a family with children. It actually see it.
