Bodies of Water
Nestled in the heart of Slovenia, Lake Bohinj is a nature lover's paradise. This expansive glacial lake offers a tranquil setting with its crystal-clear waters mirroring the surrounding mountains. Visitors can partake in various water sports such as swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and canoeing. For those seeking relaxation, there are boats and paddle boats available for rent or fishing gear to enjoy a leisurely day by the serene waters.
Much quieter than lake bled with regular transport links from bled and Ljubljana. People swim, hire paddleboards etc from here. A few bar/restaurants to choose from. The church you can climb the tower and see the inside for a few euros. It was very pretty inside the tower did have some information. I would say there is more to see in this church than the one on the island in Bled.
J D — Google review
Very tranquil, placid, clam, mirror lake with clear see-through waters. Surroundings make photos surrealistic, especially early in the morning with the low hanging clouds and misty layers. Boat rides available. Walk around the whole lake takes about two to three hours depending on speed.
G. C — Google review
A lake where there is a wonderful energy and you calm down by it. It takes you into meditation. You can also go SUP, boating or just swimming. I really recommend a visit.
Zumba Š — Google review
Peaceful, natural, and absolutely beautiful! Lake Bohinj is less crowded than Lake Bled but just as stunning—maybe even more for nature lovers. Surrounded by mountains and crystal-clear water, it’s perfect for swimming, kayaking, or just relaxing by the shore. The atmosphere is calm and untouched, great for hiking and enjoying the fresh alpine air. We loved the scenic views and the overall peaceful vibe. A hidden gem in Slovenia! It has plenty of parking and at less cost compared to lake bled. It's bigger and calm.
Anup T — Google review
Campers delight! Just 40 mins from bled- this lake is stunning and located between Julian Alps! We found a nice parking spot towards end of the lake away from commercial area! Water a bit chilly even during 26-27 degrees but very clean!
Tanya M — Google review
It's trully magical place! Incredibly beautiful setting. A big hike around the lake is highly recommended.
Julia S — Google review
It is a much larger lake compared to Lake Bled and makes you feel more immersed in nature. I recommend exploring the shores and nearby areas within the Ukanc region. It’s definitely one of the natural beauties that must be seen in Slovenia. Although Bled is more charming, this place is far more magnificent.
Evren B — Google review
What a special place. The mountains rising up to the sky and eventually coming down to the shores of the lake were spectacular. The Chrystal clear water of the lake was so inviting. Have to bring a swimsuit next time I’m here.

Hiking Trails
Mostnica Gorge is a picturesque wooded valley with riverside hiking trails that pass by waterfalls, pools, and mountain-backed meadows. It's a smaller-scale version of Vintgar Gorge but still offers exceptional beauty. The 12 km round trip hike takes about 3.5 hours, but you can also opt for shorter hikes to enjoy the stunning views.
We would highly recommend this hike through the Mostnica Gorge! Important Tip: Make sure to have cash money on you! At one point along the trail through the gorge, you'll need to pay an entrance fee of €4, and this can only be paid with cash. Don't get caught out – ensure you have small bills or coins, or you'll have to backtrack to an ATM! We parked near Lake Bohinj and started walking towards Stara Fužina. Along the path, you'll find signs directing you towards the gorge. While there is also a parking area closer to the gorge itself, we enjoyed the pleasant walk up through the local streets – the choice is yours! The gorge hike takes you through a beautiful forest, alongside the stunning gorge with its small rapids, all the way up to a charming waterfall. At a few points, the climb can be a little challenging, but overall, we would rate the hike as moderate. The views along the path are absolutely breathtaking, and we were fortunate to find there weren't many other visitors during our visit – just perfect for enjoying nature's tranquility. We enjoyed this hike immensely and highly recommend it for anyone visiting the area!
Thomas D — Google review
Beautiful hike to the valley above the gorge. Bring cash for food at the restaurant above, plus there's a cash fee per person for the gorge(although nobody there to collect when we went). Fee parking at the base of the trail, or you could just walk from town. Trail is well maintained and not too steep until you get towards the end (before the big valley). We did not go all the way to the waterfall. It took just over an hour to get to the valley, and 40 mins to get back to our car.
DD H — Google review
Nice walk from this point, takes about 4 hours to reach the waterfall and back, including some breaks. Not every part was as thrilling but overall it's worth it. Don't forget to bring cash for the entrance fee, cards are not accepted. And wear some proper hiking shoes!!
Carlo R — Google review
Definitely a must see if you’re in the area! I only hiked to the bridge and took the loop that way, which took about an hour. Super pleasant and easy hike with gorgeous views.
Anja M — Google review
Beautiful walk through the river Mostnica. It is also suitable for families with children. Before entering it is necessary to pay, hotte can be certain two ways, respectively. Make a circuit, it takes 45 minutes. Who goes to the waterfall is the next hour up and hour down.
Marek Š — Google review
Wonderful hike along the beautiful gorge! The trails are very natural and you can walk right up to the rocks and the water in some places. Amazing views. Highly recommend this hike to anyone in the area.
Yvie K — Google review
Beautiful! Really worth it. And whilst I felt like the hike to the waterfall was a but longer than I expected it was doable (I don’t think the time indications correspond entirely). The gorge is also stunning. The first part is maybe a bit more tricky as you have to walk over roots, stones, steps etc. Then afterwards its more pastures and clear ways. Going to Mostnica waterfall beyond the gorge is worth it in my opinion as you see such a wide variety of landscapes on this short hike. Bring cash for the entrance ticket (4€ pp) and you can pay for the parking by car. There are some really nice huts/restaurants along the way.
Ellie B — Google review
The time to go around the gorge is listed to be about one and a half hour. But it took us about two hours. The way is very uneven, full of rocks, full of roots, with many small streams flowing through. It’s an obstacle course. Slippery when wet. But worth the sights all along the way, especially the broken-heart shape part of the gorge that seems to symbolize the divide between the two sides.

Ski resort
Valley station - Vogel Cable Car offers a breathtaking experience, taking you up to 5,036ft (1,535m) for stunning views of surrounding peaks and Lake Bohinj. The ride provides glimpses of the dramatic Savica Waterfall and access to a ski resort and hiking trails across mountain ridges. Whether boating, biking, hiking or skiing, there are plenty of active pursuits to enjoy.
Vogel Cable Car – the most breathtaking ride in the Julian Alps (May 2, 2025) From the moment the cabin leaves Ukanc and starts climbing above the treetops, you’re floating over the endless emerald mirror of Lake Bohinj, with the tiny red-roofed church of St John on the far shore and the snow-capped peaks of Triglav National Park rising all around. Ten minutes later you step out at 1535 m into a completely different world: wildflower meadows, grazing cows with bells, and 360-degree panoramas that make you gasp out loud. In spring the contrast is unreal – deep blue water far below, fresh green slopes, and still-white summits. The ride itself is worth the trip to Bohinj; everything you do up top is pure bonus. Don’t miss it, whatever the season!
A G — Google review
The ride is very convenient, since it brings you up to a very good spot for many of the hikes. The views (especially on the lake) are amazing. The cable car is well maintained and the stuff is polite and helpful. But, the price is too high. 33 euros for a ride up and down is just too much. Also, even if you pay the ticket, there aren't any free toilets in the valley, which is unacceptable.
Jon L — Google review
Highly recommend in the summer! At first I thought it was a bit expensive at €33 per person (slightly less for seniors), but you can park for free and there is so much to do at the top. Once at the top, you can access another chair lift and gondola as part of your ticket. There are plenty of places to eat, toilets, and lots of hiking options. And not surprisingly, the views are incredible! Practical info. We arrived around 9:30a on a Wednesday in late August. We did not have any trouble finding parking (someone directs you on where to park). The gondola seemed to be running every 15 minutes and usually is pretty full. It takes about 5 minutes to get to the top. Once back at the bottom, we walked to lake Bohinj which was less than 10 minutes.
Kristy L — Google review
Indeed it is a bit pricey, but you do get the long chair lift at the top for free and the parking. The chairlift is really nice. Views are stunning. Theres goats and alpacas at the top and cute cat! Would do again!
Ellie B — Google review
We visited the Vogel cable car on August 31, 2025. Tickets were €33 per person, so I was really expecting a great view of Lake Bohinj from the top. Unfortunately, that was a bit disappointing. The lake is only visible while you’re in the cable car or from a small platform right at the exit. At the summit, you mostly see the mountains, but not the valley or the lake. The only spot with a lake view was from the restaurant. For the price, I feel they should at least create a proper viewing platform overlooking Lake Bohinj. The top of the mountain itself is nice, but overall not worth the money if you’re just going for the view. I think it’s better suited as a starting point for hikers rather than for sightseeing.
Manmeet K — Google review
Tickets are slightly expensive, but being able to take our time and explore once we got to the top made it worth it. Cable car itself is fairly quick and offers incredible views of Bohinj.
Linda B — Google review
Although one of the pricier activities in the area, I still highly recommend. The views are unreal and make you feel like you’re in a postcard. There are options for activities at the top as well such as hiking or dining.
Kelly A — Google review
I've learned two things about myself having experienced this cable car. Firstly, I don't think I enjoy the "thrill" of going in cable cars. Secondly, I don't want to spend money for the "thrill" of a cable car. Initially I had planned to come here to hike to the peak of Mount Vogel. Online I read that the best way to speed the hike up was to take the cable car to the top then take two chair lifts getting up to the main part of the hike. However, fate had other plans. For some reason on a beautiful, windless day, the chair lifts were both closed due to "weather". However, we decided to go up anyway. The tickets to go up were 68 US Dollars! For round trip tickets that took 5 minutes each way! Absolutely insane and unreasonable! On top of the price, you are packed in like sardines! We couldn't even get to look out the window to enjoy the view on the way up or down! The worst part was the greedy and thoughtless workers coming down who all stood by the windows blocking the tourist...as if they don't get to see the view EVERY DAY. Overall it was a colossal waste of both my time and money, I completely regret wasting my time going up there and am very glad i didn't spend a penny on top and went to hike around the lake instead.

Goldenhorn, also known as Zlatorog, is a popular spot on Lake Bohinj in Slovenia. According to legend, Zlatorog is a golden-horned chamois or ibex that resides in the mountains of Triglav National Park and its horn is said to be the key to hidden treasure. The area offers a serene and refreshing getaway with cooler temperatures and opportunities for swimming.
The place is incredible. You have to see it! A camera can't capture the majesty of these mountains and the beauty of these cliffs! The water is crystal clear. There are many activities nearby. You can go rock climbing here. It was a bit cloudy. But it was still incredibly beautiful! We couldn't find a public toilet.
Maria M — Google review
Incredible spot, we had a lovely relaxing time at lake bohinj, taking in the view and enjoying the weather. Very quiet in mid June. Crystal clear water and plenty of fish.
Michaela C — Google review
A great lake to view and walk around. More relaxed than Bled. 2 hours parking is a pain. €6
Mark C — Google review
A nice place to bathe, there is a dominant of the lake, a chamois on the pedestal, a nice place to take a picture.
Marek Š — Google review
Lake bohinj, stunning, you can hire boats/ sups and places to eat with the amazing views. Car park only lets you use for up to 2 hours so be aware not to go over this.
Bernadette — Google review
30 minutes drive from the famous lake bled its beautiful and serene lake that offers a refreshing getaway. The cooler temperatures and opportunity for swimming make it a great destination, especially if you prefer milder weather. Exploring a less crowded and quieter spot like this can indeed be a wonderful way to enjoy nature's tranquility. I loved this place surely like to revisit.
Neeta S — Google review
Area is nice and quiet in March. Many activities are closed, like the Panoramic Boat & Church, but if you prefer no other tourists around then go in the off season.

Vogel Ski Resort, located south of Lake Bohinj, offers breathtaking views and a range of activities for both summer and winter visitors. The cable car ride up to the resort provides stunning vistas of the surrounding peaks, the lake below, and the impressive Savica Waterfall. Whether you're into skiing, boating, biking, or hiking, Vogel has something for everyone. During winter, visitors can enjoy skiing with affordable lift passes and ski hire options.
Our first experience skiing in Slovenia and we were not disapointed at Vogel! People were so nice and the view was amazing. The size of the mountain is pretty small but there is enough terrain to have a very good time! Good value for the ticket price and very close from Bled.
Samuel M — Google review
well-maintained, featuring mostly blue and red slopes that offer a great skiing experience. The slopes are well-prepared, making them perfect for both experienced skiers and those who prefer a more relaxed ride. The overall atmosphere is nice, and the surrounding nature adds to the enjoyment. I recommend it to anyone looking for quality skiing and a wonderful time on the snow!
Sanja J — Google review
Very nice center for practicing summer hiking and winter sports. They have it well equipped here, there are many roads and slopes. It is necessary to come here, enjoy beauty. There are many paragliders.
Marek Š — Google review
The staff is the not helpful neither kind. 28 euros for a lift is crazy Based on the info in the reception desk, I went two times but both was completo y fogueo. Two days! I paid for two tickets (60 euros) for nothing. I understand that it’s the mountain but there’s a miss information in the ticket desk. No one helps. Only want to charge you for the ticket. Also, up on the mountains there is no place to wait to see it there weather improves. There’s a restaurant but you have to order something. No where to sit otherwise (only the two benches in the pic) I don’t reccomend to go! There are million of places in Bohinj with Great information centers, and helpful and kind stuff. Not here. You have to paid for the toilet, despiste paying 28 euros for the lift. I went in Oct for hiking. I tried to go the two best days according with ticket office.

Just the best day, one day skiing ⛷️ with fabulous weather conditions. Gondola, 🚠 half day ski ⛷️ pass and hire… x3 = €212!! Perfect 👌 Park up for free. Bus to gondola 🚠 and ski pass. Jump on board and up 1533m to the resort. Ski hire pay and collect, and off you go.. Busy, but painless, but once your on the slope’s they are as wide as a tennis court… last thing, 1600 return equipment but slopes stay open till ⏰

Parking available free of charge. The tickets are not very cheap but you get a chance to have one of the best views of the mountains and Bohinj lake

Amazing place, the panorama, the walking and hiking trails. If you're going there, you shouldn't miss it, everything is there to spend a great day. It's true that parking is problematic, you had to walk a lot to the Gondola (to the cable car, during which we saw a lot of empty spaces).

Foksner in Ribcev Laz is a popular spot for burger enthusiasts, offering a variety of craft burgers including a vegetarian option, all served with delectable potato wedges. The staff is known for their friendly and knowledgeable service, creating a buzzing and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant's charming interior and welcoming exterior add to the delightful dining experience, complemented by the enticing aroma of the grill.
Really nice restaurant with great value for money! People working here were super friendly although a little slow at times (but that's understandable in such a relaxed place like lake Bohinj). The food was outstanding, we got some burgers (made on the green egg BBQ) which were super juicy and well seasoned, and a goulash which was the best of the holiday. They also got a huge list of local craft beers for a fair price. Definitely go here if you crave some comfort food while at lake Bohinj!
Julien W — Google review
Super good hamburger both of beef and chicken! We loved the quality of the meat, the bread and the whole combination of ingredients. Very high quality! Service was great too and so the food presentation. Very reasonable prices and fantastic quality! Very recommended
Sandra T — Google review
This spot was recommended to us by our rafting guide in Bled, and it turned out to be a great choice. The burgers were delicious – the meat was excellent, and even though the bun looked big and puffy, it was actually soft and really good. They also have a nice selection of craft beers and some good wine, so everyone was happy. It’s a popular place, so with the heavy tourist traffic it’s not easy to grab a table outside, but we easily found seating inside. The atmosphere indoors has a bit of an Irish pub vibe with lots of wood and a warm, cozy feel.

Loved Foksner so much we got it a second time to go our last night in Bohinj. Incredibly tasty, nearly homemade burgers. Perfect size, amazing fries and lovely beer selection. I dream about these burgers. Don't sleep on the creme brulee either

Kosijev dom na Vogarju (1054 m) is a charming mountain hut located near Lake Bohinj in Slovenia. It offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, making it a perfect spot for nature enthusiasts and hikers. The hut provides a warm welcome to visitors, with the friendly hut warden serving delicious vegan pasta and ensuring a comfortable stay. Guests can enjoy typical Slovenian food and drinks while taking in the tranquil meadow filled with alpine flowers.
I stayed two nights at Kosijev Dom na Vogarju. I would recommend overnighting and food in Kosijev Dom to anyone, including vegetarians. The host, Igor, is taking very good care of the guests. The staff is very welcoming and maintains positive atmosphere. The food is both good and inexpensive. I got good sleep at night, because the lodge was warm and quiet. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and there was warm water in the shower. Kosijev Dom is a great starting point for excursions higher up in the mountains. I would definitely stay here again. Many thanks to Kosijev Dom staff for their great job.

In the middle of a walking trip through Slovenia, this was by far my favorite mountain hut so far. It's a beautiful, peaceful oasis in the mountains overlooking Lake Bohinj. Food was delicious, the facility is older but well cared for and everything worked. Best of all were the people here, they were welcoming, kind and helpful. I was truly sorry to leave. Highly recommended.

Karakter Bar is a delightful spot to refuel after an adventurous day of hiking, offering a menu that caters to both hearty appetites and lighter preferences. You can indulge in mouthwatering burgers and crispy fries, or opt for fresh salads and vegetarian dishes if you're looking for something healthier. A standout feature of this vibrant café is their homemade gin, crafted in various unique flavors that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
After a full day of hiking around Lake Bohinj, this place was the absolute perfect spot to rest and enjoy a fantastic meal. It offers outdoor eating on a lovely terrace with a great vibe. We had a double cheeseburger with fries and a schnitzel, and both were finger-licking good! You can even see the chefs working hard on the grill from the terrace – big respect to them, as they clearly don't get much rest! The result is incredibly flavorful food and a commendably short waiting time. Be aware that there can be a waiting line because the food is truly excellent, but it's absolutely worth the wait! When we return to Lake Bohinj, we'll definitely be stopping here again for a great meal.

Good burgers at a reasonable price. Prices • Double cheeseburger – €14 • Mixed salad – €12 • Lemonade – €4 Food The food arrived within 10–15 minutes. • The meat was cooked well—not dry. The bun was tasty, and the double cheeseburger was quite large. • The mixed salad was surprisingly good, though a bit tangy. • The lemonade was nothing special—very little sugar, but plenty of ice, which was refreshing on a hot day. Atmosphere Located right in the center, just 2 minutes from the bus stop and the bridge. Simple tables, pop music playing. The restroom is outside of the venue. Service Staff speak English. You order and pay at the counter. Polite and efficient. Overall Solid spot for a quick meal in the city center. Big portions, fair prices, and friendly service, even if the atmosphere is pretty basic.

Their burgers are just okay – nothing to really complain about, but nothing to get excited about either. The bun is your standard fast-food type (full of additives), there isn’t much sauce (which is actually a plus), and the meat is dry and lacks seasoning. The burger itself is relatively small and nowhere near enough to fill you up, especially after a day of hiking. Also, the burger doesn't come with fries or any sides – you have to order those separately. The fries and sweet potato fries tasted like onion rings, probably because they fry everything in the same oil. They’re located by the canal and very close to the lake. The mosquitoes and gnats were unbearable – they really need to do something about that. The waiters, on the other hand, were very nice and welcoming.

A great choice for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. They offer, among other things, a perfect choice for everyone. The Beyond Meat Burger is delicious for everyone. Take your time or make a reservation. We waited in line for ten minutes and then for the food for twenty minutes. And we are very glad that it did not put us off. The experience was worth it, not only for the food. The waiter Žan was very nice and had a professional demeanor. Excellent language skills. Ketchup and mayo with the delicious fries are of course included in the price. If you like hot sauces, they have one to try and it is perfect. The spiciness of 2/5 will not kill all tastes, but it will elevate them to heaven. I was not surprised that they are dog-friendly here. 10/10!!! Well-chosen music that was not disturbing. We will gladly stop here again when we pass by. By the way, there are far fewer tourists at Lake Bohinj than at Lake Bled and the water here is miraculously clean ❤️ ... And the last - you can sit outside only, so they're closed if it rains

Whoever is leaving negative reviews about this place having average or overcooked burgers is out of their minds. The burgers here are top notch and cooked perfectly, even by American standards. Onion rings could use a little improvement, but beers, service, patio, fries, salad… all were top notch, especially for the reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

One of the best salads I've ever had. Such a variety of fresh veggies in it, and the chicken on top was perfect. Dressing wasn't overpowering. Perfect!

Got here right after a long hike. Did hit the spot, great atmosphere, tasty burger and sides. Bringing our Dog was no problem 🤗
T S — Google review
Those were the best cheeseburgers we ever had, portions are very big and super yummy . We went with a group of 7 people and we were all full and happy after this meal, even when there was a rain outside 😅Definitely recommend going here for a dinner when you stop at the Bohinjske jezero. I tried the Butter Lemon lemonade and it was fantastic too, I’m a big lover of bitter lemon drinks and that was definitely the GOAT . Absolutely the best OF ALL! 🫶

Vogar Viewpoint, located on the north side of Lake Bohinji, offers a breathtaking view that is definitely worth the short 6 km hike. The trail provides a beautiful walk around the lake and promises stunning scenery along the way.
absolutely beautiful, the view was literally breathtaking. there is a tourist house like 50-100 metres away and the way up from Stara Fužina was not so difficult. however i wouldn't go again in rainy weather, some rocks were really slippery and it was harder to see because of the fog in some places.
Réka C — Google review
This viewpoint offers a breathtaking panoramic view of Lake Bohinj and the Julian Alps from above. It takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to reach the top via a hiking trail, and although the route is rewarding, it can be a bit tricky—so it's important to stay on the marked path to avoid getting lost. The spot also serves as a launch point for paragliding, making it popular among both hikers and adventure seekers.
Seokjin H — Google review
Going up to Vogel was one of the best parts of my trip to Lake Bohinj. The cable car ride itself was smooth and exciting, but nothing prepared me for the view at the top. It honestly took my breath away—Lake Bohinj shimmering below, surrounded by dramatic peaks and pure silence. I could’ve stayed there for hours just taking it all in. Whether you’re into hiking or just want a peaceful spot to sit and admire nature, Vogel is absolutely worth it. A moment I’ll always remember.

Wow, what a view! It's a bit of a climb up from Stara Fuzina but definitely worth it. Lovely views over the lake towards Ribcev Laz.

Great area for hiking, has some magical spots around the lake. I suggest taking a round tour around the lake, takes about 2.5 hours. Very much worth it.

Very pretty viewpoint The viewpoint at Lake Bohinj offers a stunning panorama of the clear water and surrounding mountains. It’s a great spot for taking photos and enjoying the peaceful nature. The place is easy to reach and definitely worth a visit for anyone who loves beautiful views.

About a 1 hour (little more if you make some stops along the way) ti this heart shaped bench with a view of the lake. Make sure to also look out on the way up for another viewpoint. Look out for the word "spomenik" painted on a rock. About 15 meters in that direction is another viewpoint with perhaps better views and less people.

The Zlatorog Fairy Trail is a 2km marked path that meanders through the picturesque woods and alongside the serene lake in Ukanc. Positioned between Camp Bohinj and the "Fox on the Rocks Chalet," this trail is perfect for children aged 4-10. Along the way, there are informative signs about each of the 7 fairies, offering physical activities and basic naturalist experiences.
My kids loved this! This is a 2km signed trail winding through the woods and along the lake in Ukanc. It starts along the main Ukanc-Bohinj road between Camp Bohinj and the "Fox on the Rocks Chalet." Best for kids 4-10 years old. The signs have information about each of the 7 fairies here plus a physical activity and a basic naturalist acticity. There is also the White Fairy at the Savica waterfall and a troll at the top of Vogel gondola for a total of 9 fairies. You don't need the booklet to do the hike, but it has more information and games and riddles for the kids. At some point you got a stamp at each fairy station for your booklet, but there are no stamps anymore and the booklet has stickers for each fairy. My kids enjoyed it so much that we took almost 2hrs for the 2km loop. The booklet is available at the Tourist Info Centers in Ribcev Laz and Stara Fuzina and costs 2 euro. The 7th fairy is also right next to a good playground, by Hisa Erlah, which is also where we parked. Camp Bohinj is nearby as well for snack and other supplies. There are a couple restaurants around that are very seasonally dependent.

Giving this 5 stars as a parent of a 7 and 10 year old who loved this walk. It was fairly long (1-2 hours depending on how long you spend at activities. Pro tip: pick up the activity book for the trail at the tourist shop at the other end of the lake (and it comes with a free kids ride in each book on the gondola up to Vogel!)

An enjoyable trail, relatively easy, about two to three hours with swimming time in the lake, perfect for families – the kids had a great time! Paid parking is available right at the starting point, making access very convenient. Purchase the special activity booklet at the Bohinj Info Center – The booklet includes fun stickers and short stories about local characters, making the walk more engaging and fun for children and adults alike.

(Translated by Google) The Golden Horn Fairytale Trail runs along Ukanec and is a circular trail, approximately 2 kilometers long. You can walk along it for half an hour or a whole day. The entire trail is well marked with signposts. The thematic trail is fun, educational and creative and suitable for all ages. The trail is open to visitors from May to November. The trail runs across meadows, along the lake and through the forest, where we encounter natural and cultural attractions. The starting point of the trail is right next to the Bohinj campsite (in Ukanec), where the first information board for the fairy tale trail awaits you not far from the campsite. The trail and activities along the trail are designed to encourage the use of the seven senses: sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch, balance and kinesthetics. At each individual point, one sense is emphasized, but this does not mean that you have to use only that one. The trail will also delight you with its beautiful nature and plants. According to Bohinj tradition, yellow medicinal flowers grow from the dust of the Golden Horn's horns, and there are indeed many of them in these places. Together with other natural beauties, they are part of the Golden Horn's treasure. The Golden Horn Fairy Tale Path, the end of the world, is home to fairy tales and full of Golden Horn's treasures, as well as beautiful mountains, a magical lake, clear waters, green meadows, mighty waterfalls and fairy-tale creatures. Restavracija Kramar is a restaurant located at the head of Lake Bohinj, offering stunning views of the lake. The restaurant provides an ideal spot for lunch with outdoor seating available. Their menu includes quality pizza and a variety of vegetarian options, including a delicious vegan hamburger. While some customers have noted occasional issues with service, many have praised the friendly staff and great location.
Wow, was this place great! It took a little while to first get our orders, however it was well worth it. All 4 of us in the group ordered bacon cheeseburgers. They were fantastic. And we're from the states so we know a good burger! The local beers were great too. Clean and comfortable bathrooms. You can't beat the view!

We were here twice. Always same. Attitude from waitresses was arrogant and cocky. Even though you come for a drink, which I understand, they arrogantly direct you to other tables. Attitude is totally wrong. And prices …. No comment. Coffee with milk -3 €. Pizza was not pizza - but bread with cheese for 12 euros (margarita). Please if you compare it with Austrian lakes … no, you cannot compare it. Very sad for Slovenian tourism. Now in welfare you can play this game, but I hope when economy will go down u will use all of this money and not ask state for help and be among the first to complain. No words.

Amazing place just by the lake, with a very nice view over the lake. We had dinner here during sunset. We all had the burgers which were absolutely delicious! Very friendly and helpful staff as well, and very quick service! Be sure to bring some cash as it is cash only. Definitely recommended!

The restaurant is right on the lake! The view’s amazing, you seriously won’t want to get up. We had trout fillet and a salad. The fish was fresh and good, but the buckwheat pilaf that came with it? Honestly, might be the best thing I’ve eaten in Slovenia. So, so good.

Right on the lake, short walk from the centre. Very popular as it's the only restaurant with a perfect view of the lake where you can watch the beautiful sunsets. Quite a large menu with pizzas and burgers as well as more Slovenian fare. Recommend the herbed chicken. Separate tables if you're just having a drink. Staff very friendly and has the feel of a well-run restaurant. They take bookings but they only accept cash (there's an ATM just outside).

Great views with swift and friendly service. We came here 3 times during our stay in Lake Bohinj and each time tried something else on the menu. Our favourites were the trout fillet and barley, jezero pizza and chicken Caesar salad. They only take cash but there’s an atm nearby.

Restaurant located right on the beach, next to the parking lot, combined with a bar where you’ll find quick snacks, ice cream, decent food, and surprisingly good craft beer. Honestly, it was one of the best summer ales and IPAs I’ve had in the sun. Beautiful surroundings and quick service at the bar.

Camp Bohinj, also known as Camp Zlatorog Bohinj, is a popular spot for nature lovers visiting the area. It offers a chaotic but enjoyable camping experience in a mountainous and tree-filled area near Lake Bohinj. The campsite provides facilities for camper vans and has brand new, clean shower and toilet facilities. While it can get messy during busy periods, it's still a great place to park and enjoy the surroundings.
My first camping experience and I have nothing to complain. There are newer and older facilities, so you can choose and there’s never a line. The restaurant on location was great and the service always had a smile. The location is amazing, but the pictures speak for themselves. Oh and before I forget, you can rent a sup, kayak or canoe right on sight. A great experience!
F B — Google review
Amazing campsite in a beautiful mountain lake setting. Unfortunately, not suitable for those seeking peace and relaxation. The campsite has no quiet zone. People arrive with small children who cry all night, and because of that none of the tents within 200 meters can get any sleep.
Roman M — Google review
Beautiful setting. Great for swimming and lots of hiking options from the campsite. The undercover seating with lighting was super helpful for cooking. Plenty of toilet and shower facilities. Had chips and beer from the restaurant, the rest of the food looked really good. Plenty of charging facilities for phones etc. Staff very helpful and friendly. The only downsides were it was very busy we aren't used to. And also the camp ground was very rocky so tricky to pitch a tent.
Hannah G — Google review
Great camping spot. Cannot really beat the location. Less touristy than lake bled. The campsite is located next to a gorgeous lake, even prettier than bled in my opinion. The facilities at the campsite are fantastic. The only issue is the price. It doesn’t feel right to pay 43€ for two people in one tent per night:/
Piotrek S — Google review
What a great place to be! I loved the atmosphere there, it was so calm and peaceful – perfect to relax and unwind. Even though there were a lot of people staying there, it never felt busy or crowded. The tent area is large and located in the forest. It may require some patience to find the flat place for a tent, as there are some rocks and tree roots, but there are plenty of nice spots. If you are a hammock user like me, this is a paradise with a lot spots to choose from including those which would otherwise be unusable for tent use. All of this, just a few steps away from the lake. There is a small beach with a great view to admire, stargaze from at night (the light pollution is very low in the valley) or just enjoy the moment. The facilities were top notch – many toilets/shower (never needed to wait) which are cleaned regularly, a restaurant with delicious pizza, a small shop with bakery, fruit and vegetables, picnic shed to enjoy your own food, laundry, etc. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the music selection in the restaurant was adding to the great mood there. I will be back!
Kamil F — Google review
From a seasoned and middle aged camper that has visited this place many times in several decades. When the cost of camping was way beyond the prices of today. Yes, it is a beautiful place and quite a few things have improved over the years. But so has the price of camping. This year they introduced an extra price for pitches, which definitely went well over the bench mark of my understanding. Paying 50+ Euros/day for a pitch of gravel and, if you're lucky, a tree above your head for some partial shade is pure madness in my book. I do have better things to do in my life, thank you...
Just G — Google review
We stayed for two nights at Camp Bohinj and really enjoyed it! The location is stunning – right by the most beautiful part of the lake. The facilities are good, and the on-site restaurant was a real surprise: better service than most of the restaurants we visited during our holiday. That said, the tent area felt a bit unorganized and many spots are sloped, which can be uncomfortable. Luckily, we were able to switch to a platform for our second night, which made a big difference. Mornings and evenings by the lake were absolutely magical. Highly recommended – with a bit of luck choosing your tent spot!

Kumulus Paragliding offers an exhilarating and unforgettable experience for adventure seekers. Located on Mount Vogel, at 1922 meters above sea level, visitors can choose to paraglide down for an adrenaline-pumping descent. The team of instructors, including Ambroz and Alen, are highly praised for their enthusiasm and professionalism. The experience begins with a scenic ride on the Vogel cable car followed by a jeep ride to the take-off point.
Ambrož and the whole team were absolutely brilliant - such lovely guys and we haven’t stopped smiling since our flight! They know their stuff, especially with the weather conditions, and are a pleasure to spend time with - they made sure we were very relaxed and comfortable given it was our first time flying. Would highly recommend booking with this company 😊
Kate F — Google review
This has got to be one of the most rewarding impromptu decisions I’ve ever made! Despite being really fearful of heights, paragliding over Lake Bohinj with pilot Primož was far more thrilling than scary. I felt completely safe the whole time, as he always let me know in advance what he was going to do. I was a little embarrassed to be screaming, but Primož joined in and made the experience even more fun and memorable. Thank you, Primož—I’ll remember this flight for a long time!
Maddie — Google review
This was truly the most epic experience ever! I was so scared before taking off, but Ambrož handled everything with such professionalism that once we were up in the air, I felt completely safe. Not only that, he made the whole flight fun and relaxing, explaining a lot about how paragliding works, and even finishing with some amazing tricks. At one point, I was crying from pure happiness. I HIGHLY recommend this team, they are professional, kind, and incredibly experienced. Do not miss out on this experience with KUMULUS PARAGLIDING!!!!!!
Tinkara O — Google review
We had to pivot early thanks to some moody mountain clouds, but the Kumulus team handled it like pros. Rousch and Alen were not only super helpful with backup options before the flight (and great local tips after!), they also kept us entertained while we waited for the weather to clear, as they swapped stories from Nepal, Chile, and their upcoming adventures in the Himalayas. Once we finally took off, the views over the mountains and Lake Bohinj were jaw-dropping. It was absolutely worth the wait. The flight felt equal parts peaceful and thrilling, and their humor and skill made it all the more special. We can’t recommend Kumulus enough. When we’re back in Slovenia, flying with them again is already on our list. Thank you for giving Bryan the best 50th birthday surprise imaginable and for the indescribable chance to literally soar above one of the most beautiful places on earth.

“Absolutely outstanding experience with Kumulus Paragliding! Ambrož and team are incredibly friendly, highly professional, and made us feel completely safe from start to finish. The flight itself was breathtaking – smooth, exhilarating, and full of stunning views. Everything was perfectly organized, and their passion for flying really shows. Couldn’t recommend them more – a truly unforgettable adventure!”

Breath, fly, live! First of all, we must say we're not thrill= seekers The morning we booked the paragliding, the sky was cloudy and we thought: 'that's a pity, we can't go paragliding".But when we saw Ambrož he said: "today it's perfect". And so it was! The Kumulus team was so professional and fantastic, they explained the rules clearly and we felt at ease. I flew with Ambrož and Viola flew with Alein; it was and will be unforgettable. Viola went first even though it wasn't her idea to go paragliding. This magic experience was exactly just as the pilots explained. Your feets does not touch ground? No worries, it's time to live your dreams and fly like a bird. Being hugged from the clouds and the sun, feeling safe meanwhile "seated in a comfortable sofa", seeing Lake Bohinj and the beauty of the Slovenian landscape from above...there are no words, just: "La vita è bella"! Sì Alein, you're right!! We're so happy we did it; a special thanks to Ambrož and Alein for making everything perfect. Manuela and Viola from Italy

Had a great experience with Kumulus. Flew from Vogar. Clear communication via WhatsApp within the timeframe of the flight. A quick ride in a van up the mountain, and a 10-15 downhill hike to the jump site. My pilot was engaged, gave clear instructions, asked if I wanted to do any acrobatics or not. Would highly recommend.
Tyler W — Google review
Ambroz and his team of expert pilots provided a top notch paragliding experience for me and my whole family. They made us feel completely safe, they had super positive energy, and the flight itself was absolutely spectacular. There is no better way to see Triglav and the entire valley than by quietly soaring through the mountains and over lake Bohinj. We would do it again and again if we had more time!

Boat Bohinj - Ukanc offers a delightful journey on the lake, allowing customers to purchase tickets conveniently through either their mobile phones or in person with credit cards. Even if the desired time is not available, they still accommodate passengers. The staff is knowledgeable and efficient, ensuring a pleasant guided tour with soft music playing for half an hour. Despite being slightly expensive, the boat ride provides an amazing view from every angle. It offers a peaceful and enjoyable experience suitable for all ages, including infants.
A fantastic experience! The scenic boat ride offers **stunning panoramic views** of Lake Bohinj’s crystal-clear, pristine waters. The boat itself is **spotless and well-maintained**, and tickets are conveniently sold onboard. The staff were exceptionally friendly—they even gave us great recommendations for nearby attractions (wish I remembered their names!). **Highly recommend** for a relaxing and beautiful way to explore the lake. Perfect for nature lovers and photographers!

A worthwhile experience on Slovenia's largest lake, however I felt it was quite expensive for what it was. After queuing to get on the boat we were met by friendly staff, we then spent 5 minutes loading onto the boat which was incredibly busy at 14:10, about 20 minutes travelling across the lake with a very brief history given in both Slovenian and English and then another 5 minutes disembarking. The ride on the water is pleasant but I wouldn't call it a tour, and it was hard to get photographs due to the number of other people allowed on the boat. I would go again if either the price was reduced or if more history was given during the ride.

This was a pleasant ride through the lake. You can purchase your tickets on the mobile phone with credit card or in person. If the phone doesn’t have tickets for the time, they let you on the boat anyway. Quick and convenient but not cheap.

Vogel loop hike: Very nice intermediate hike/climb, good for hikers who have some experience and want to get their first stripes in mountaineering. Most of the hike is quite easy, from the gondola to the orlove glave (mountain hut & restaurant) is only a path that is normally a ski slope, they can be a bit steep at times but you walk over grass so there is zero technicality involved. You can also decide to take this part by ski lift. At the hut there is small summit with a cross and bell that requires a little bit of technique but is a fun side quest or finish (in case you don't want to do the full loop) with already a great view. After this you got more hiking through pine bushes which is mostly flat until you arrive at another ski slope which is a small climb. After this you will see the summit of Sija, the first of the 2 mountains on the traditional loop, you can skip this summit by going right at the base of the summit if you want to go straight to vogel and have a slightly easier route. If you climb this mountain though, you can follow a beautiful path over the mountain ridge that will intercept with the route you could take to skip this peak. The Sija is worth it but will require more technique as it's a more difficult mountain to climb than the Vogel, it requires good scramble technique and is more exposed. After the interception of the 2 routes you will have to climb down a few hunderd meters and will have to use some ladders. Then, the final climb to the vogel begins. Exposure is minimal but light scrambling and some via ferrata is required. These sections (like the Sija summit) can be considered as mountaineering and not hiking, it is not difficult but take your time. Talking about time, make sure you have enough of it. The last gondola goes down at 6 o'clock and if you miss this you will have to walk down a ski slope that descends around 1000 meters in about 7 km and it's entirely a gravel road, I took this road down and it's pretty boring, hiking sticks are an absolute must. Walk down from vogel back go the gondola is probably the least interesting part of the hike. It isnt as engaging as the first half. It might be more fun to do the loop counter clockwise as you will do the hut near the end and have the option to do the rest of the descent via skilift, ending your hike at the hut and making getting some victory drinks. Overall, I highly recommend doing this loop, the views at Sija and especially at Vogel are amazing, definitely worth the effort.

This a must to do in Slovenia You need to take the gondola at the Vogel ski center (parking is free if you take the Gondola) After you take the second chair lift and still go up to the third chairlift (this one is not working during the summer) The hike itself takes about 4hours to go up the Vogel summit (for approximately 8km) There is one section pretty steep but well protected by wire cable
Yves T — Google review
Never seen such a beautiful view, there is a choice to go by foot or on a cable car. Best place for some snacks.
Derek H — Google review
We did a circular (anti clockwise) hike from the cable car station, up to Mt Vogel, a quick lie down in some snow to cool down, build a snowman and on to Mt Šija before stopping off for some food before we then decided to get the free chair lift back to the cable car as it was 30°+ and the last mile or so is pretty boring ! Stunning views but it'll test your quads and stamina ! 6.5 miles / 2850ft elevation. Take water and a lot of it ! Youtube: tomstourswithmore

This is a ski 🎿 place in winter. But during summer you can go to hike up on the mountains. It has a good view of the Bohinj lake as well. Remember, when you get out of the cable car, it is your only chance to get some photos of the lake, when you walk and pass, no view of the lake.
Özgü Ö — Google review
Very nice experience there, it s the bighest point in Triglav where youcan take cabin up, so if you travelling with children it s right choice for you, plenty views, restaurant. The main view is awesome with Bohinjski lake of course, plenty of parking spaces on the bottom, cabin price is OK, you just have to wait for it as it going up every 30 minutes, it s crowdy when you going down, but happy for this experience.
Michal G — Google review
The views are great The facilities are limited. Not much of kids playgrounds or point of interest. Not much of easy trails variety.

Savica Waterfall is a magnificent natural wonder located 4km from Ukanc. It can be accessed by a walking path or by car, followed by a 25-minute walk up more than 500 steps through the forest. The climb takes about 20-30 minutes and includes stairs but isn't too steep. Along the way, hikers can enjoy the scenic Russian Chapel nestled in the forest.
Beautiful waterfall and bigger than we expected! We parked at the base (€5 for up to three hours), paid €4 to enter (€2.50 for people 65 and over), and then walked about 20 minutes to the top. We spent around an hour there in total, including the hike We arrived around 8:15am on a Wednesday in late August. We had no trouble finding parking and there weren't many people at the waterfall when we were there.

One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Slovenia. You need to arrive very early to admire it. It's difficult to take photos on weekends. There's an entrance fee. From the parking lot, it's about a 10-minute walk to the waterfall. The walk to the waterfall is easy. There's a place to eat near the parking lot. Overall, I recommend it.
Waldemar K — Google review
About 20 minutes along a well-maintained path from the parking lot to the waterfall. Probably a longer stop for a photo at the waterfall. Otherwise, a beautiful and powerful waterfall. Worth a visit and a hike
Zumba Š — Google review
Nice walk up the beautiful stairs. Over 500 of them, with resting areas if you get tired or just want to enjoy the nature. Awesome view, you can also see the lake.
Cloud G — Google review
A quick walk from the parking, or a good 40 minute cycle ride from the town up a lot of elevation brings you to this monstrosity of a waterfall- formed by two separate streams combining at the valley, it creates two waterfalls at the same spot. The water is spectualur and powerful. You cannot get into the water however, it is closed by a gate for safety.
Aditya G — Google review
Wonderful hike in the autumn scenery. Few people, slightly foggy giving the hike romantic touch. The waterfall is beautiful and the hike is doable for everyone.
Philipp P — Google review
A popular tourist spot, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself surrounded by quite a few fellow adventurers—especially during peak hours or season. To reach the waterfall, you’ll need to hike uphill a bit; it’s not too long, but you’ll feel the incline. Locals say it used to be more peaceful and romantic, but even now it’s still beautiful. The water roars, the cameras click, and if you're lucky, you might just catch the ghost of Slovenia’s national poet lingering nearby. :)
Michael N — Google review
Very nice waterfall in this area, before entering the sidewalks to the waterfall is an entrance center, where you need to buy tickets. The road to the waterfall takes about 30 minutes, leading to the waterfall 551 steps, and there are also benches to relax. Not Hye it is difficult, they can do it with a family with children. It actually see it.

Great little museum that gives you a glimpse of the traditional life and cheese making of the people of the region! Very well done, and everything was also in English. Loved the enthusiasm and knowledge of museum guide! Thank you so much for an amazing experience!

Our tour took us to this perfect little agricultural village where our host had prepared a cheese (with bread) tasting along with an entertaining talk. Tables were set inside and out the quaint and very old cottage. I loved the smoked cheese and the sheep's cheese. At the end we tried a very smelly and strange tasting fermented cheese.
Shalom B — Google review
Great museum bringing to life how it was to tend dairy cows and make cheese in the area. Curator was helpful when we asked questions.

Well worth the money and time. Great info boards with everything translated to English. The guide was very enthusiastic and helpful which really lifted the visit up even more. Her English was perfect as well. Lots to learn about the history of the region through reading the boards and talking to the guide.

Tiny museum, but gives a very nice look into the lives and work of dairy farmers. The guide gave amazing detailed information, as well as many tips about the surrounding area and fun places to explore. Absolutely wonderful.

Beautiful meseum with objects and photographic documentation of extraordinary value. An entire wood house tipical of alpine pasture, was disassembled and riassembled here in the 1960’s to save it from 'abandonment. The museum was a dairy house and you can still see also the machinary used to make cheese. Very important place to visit and understand the land culture.
Jacopo F — Google review
Really nice, small and well documented museum. We were greeted by a very friendly local women who gave us more insights of the cheese making process and history.

Nice mountain, but steep climb at the end. The view is nice and with good weather you can see the Triglav. It was a nice hike and we had a good time going around. It also has a stemple! Amazing!

Pršivec at 1762 m greets you with a breathtaking view of the lake and sorrounding mountains. The hike is definitely worth a few minutes spent at the top. Tip: If you suffer from vertigo, I recommend taking the easier path from Bregarjevo Zavetiščě.

(Translated by Google) Very beautiful hike and beautiful mountain! Be careful the last 50 meters are climbing! We were still able to take the dogs there but you have to be prepared. There is snow on the north face in May so also be careful of that and the risk of injury. (Original) Très belle randonnée et belle montagne ! Attention les 50 derniers mètres sont en escalade ! Viševnik and back to Črne Jezera across Komarča to Savica or to Lake Bohinj, approximately 18km.
