The weather was a bit damp so we didn't stay for long but it was an amazing sight. There was actually a lot more to see than just the statue. Due to the unexpected rain, we didn't see it all but it's definitely worth a visit. Be aware that, if you need to use the toilet, it will cost you 50 cents.
The height of this statue is really impressive. You can see the statue from afar, but you don't realise how huge it is. It's really impressive when walking around it. There is also a nice viewpoint nearby. There are lots of hiking routes around the statue, just follow the signs. There's also an option to buy tickets so you can get inside, but you're not nearly halfway up. If it's worth it, I don't know.
good place for walking and relaxing. Nearby there is paid parking, but if you go down 200 meters, then there is free parking. entrance to the territory is free, but climbing to the observation deck is already a fee.
A very nice monument to visit, very scenic!
Nice location on the top of a hill. Well directed from the city. Parking is at 4€, if you want to go up the monument you need to pay additionally. Area might be crowded during weekends. There is a kiosk and a restaurant, toilets and a climbing park in the trees. There is also an open air stage.
Great views, lovely park around it too
Well connected by the public transport and a bus takes you the stop near to this Denkmal. 1 to 2 hours are sufficient to explore the area, capture the surroundings and get to the top of the Denkmal even on a weekend
If you want to go up there is a ticket for 4€ but if you want to visit extersteine and hike up, you can buy a combi ticket for 6€. Seems like a long walk up the statue. The views are so amazing thinking back in the day it was where arminius and barbarians ambushed the roman legions. Worth the visit!

The Open- air Museum is very huge, surrounded by green spaces. Lots of various of historical houses are very nice. the most amazing thing is the life of the ancient Paderborn population. That’s great. Thank you! ❤️
Can spend a whole day here. There’s a tower for you to get good panoramic view Love the bakery. Love the friendly staff. Well organized. As a foreigner this really offered me a great insight into the old German country life
Very big open air museum, great if you like walking. The horse carriage you can take for a small fee is a great solution if I get tired. I would like to see more diversity in eras and more LWL related souvenirs.
Good for a great day out, with loads of fun and information for the whole family. Great catering facilities in Paderborn Village. Adults pay €10 to enter (April 2025), kids go free. Outright recommendation.
Truly beautiful. Amazing greenery around. So many beautiful old houses. Grown ups as well as children would enjoy it. Highly recommended!
Huge Terrain filled with lots of interesting buildings. Do not underestimate the time you will spend here. Lovely cafe/restaurant for a break in between exploring
This is a seriously good tourist attraction. Buildings are beautifully restored and there is lots of them. From Working Pottery Shops and bakery it gives a great idea of what life was like in those days.
Such an amazing experience. A truly remarkable collection of massive homes and barns. Active farming and working wind mills. The restraints are great. The employees are very helpful. Expect to spend all day there and wear sun screen!

Very hunoristic guide. Awesome show. Really good bird collection. You can see local European birds as well as some iconic birds from around the world. For example the gigantic Condor of South America or the with headed sew eagle.
What an amazing place. I would be here every weekend if I could. The birds are so stunning and the display is brilliant. The way the birds fly out and back to their enclosures is testiment to how well they are looked after and the setting of the display gives you the chance to see these in flight. So delighted to see the largest eagle species too, stunning bird.
We visited here for the first time as a family and had an absolutely wonderful time. The place itself I found to be relatively small, extremely well maintained and simply laid out to follow. We walked through the area where the birds were in very large enclosures. Once you pass the enclosures, go up a small set of stairs, you get to view birds of prey standing on rocks less than a meter away. We then sat and had the show, to say I was impressed would be a massive understatement. What I saw and experienced, I will be forever grateful. I have never seen so many birds of prey flying in one area. Thank you to the staff for a very enjoyable day out.
What a lovely experience to endure! Very talented host who explains a lot about each bird after each one is out of their cage. Scenery is stunning. Refreshments and seating available. Definitely recommend this for a nice, short getaway for a couple of hours.
Really great show with different types of birds of prey. Their attributes and modes of flight / hunting are well explained. The birds fly really close by. You need to see the show, offered twice a day. A must do!
This is a good place to see rare and special flying birds. There is an eagle show too which I experienced randomly, that was great. I think it is a great date destination.
Amazing show, big birds having a great time there.
Cool show, small park. You have to take stairs to get to the entrance.

Pretty fountain.
Cool vibe. He sings real good
It is a very historical and cool Preis in the middle of detmold and you call it The marktplatz and translated it's called the marketplace
Not particularly spectacular fountain in the middle of the market area.
(Translated by Google) Really a very nice fountain in a very nice market square. (Original) Wirklich ein sehr schöner Brunnen auf einem sehr schönen Marktplatz.
(Translated by Google) I was in Detmold this morning and wanted to see some of the sights. I was immediately struck by the beautiful market fountain, the so-called Donop Fountain, located in the middle of the market square. It was created in 1902 by the Dresden artist Hölbe, whose romantic bronze group commemorates the Berlebecke stream, which rises in the Lippe Forest and secures Detmold's water supply. Until the end of the 19th century, the Werre River and many fountains in Detmold were heavily polluted. The fountain, donated by Auguste von Donop in 1883, marks the end of this situation. The nymph in the central group of figures can be understood as a situated personification of the fountain's spring, which draws its water from the Berlebecke springs in the Teutoburg Forest south of the city. During the Second World War, the fountain accidentally escaped being melted down and was rediscovered in 1947 in a Hamburg bell cemetery. It was only rededicated in 1951 at its original location after many years of discussion about a new concept for the market square.

A perfect afternoon adventure, close to places to eat and easy stroll through the gardens. The interior is beautiful! The required slippers add a bit of fun! especially if you have smaller feet! :)
I have more photos, to many to post. You have to see ot to really enjoy it. So much history behind these walls, and if only they could talk, just to think of the stories they know, and have seen. AMAZING!
I have to say the third time was a Charme, seeing more and more details every time I go... What a beautiful castle!! Definitely worth the visit
One of the castles in Germany that was not bombed in the war, so you get to see the original rooms and furnishings. It can only be visited guided by the staff, on the hour. 10 rooms alltogether, around 45 minutes. The tour is in German but there are leaflets in many languages. The lady guide was very knowledgeable and very friendly. 5 eur extra for the photo permit.
A very nice place! I was here when I was a child and I wanted to visit again to see if my memories were right. I like that most rooms have been maintained well and give a good representation. The only thing I did not like was that a group joining later was exempt from wearing the slippers while my mother who is struggling with walking as is had to slide around in the slippers.
Really interesting and intriguing tour! Interior is lovely and well maintained.
What a beautiful place, I can understand why a lot of students in this city study architecture.
Very cool castle that is still being lived in. A good number of rooms with artifacts. Interesting paintings and furniture. Must wear protective slippers. Costs extra to take pictures. Beautiful outside grounds too. Difficult to get to because of construction downtown. Student discount.

Really lovely place. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Amazing playground too! One of the keepers allowed my children to hold a parrot which I thought was very kind of him. We will definitely go again in the future.
Very nice park! We didnt expect much and was also not expensive, but definitely worth it! Nice for a relaxing walk. But can imagen that with children it would be a great day out!
The place is awesome. The price is a bit high.
My 2-year-old son likes it a lot! Especially the opportunity to feed the birds by himself. The parking lot is also very convenient. Highly recommended!
Very enjoyable Bird Park and unexpectedly a large variety of species. Large enclosures and freedom for the birds. Fun to feed the parakeets and goats.
Very cool place. We went on Sunday during summer holidays and the place wasn't crowded. We also joined the feeding of birds at 3:30pm which was fun but also pretty educational. The ticket prices are reasonable. Also a lot of places where kids can play, different attractions that you can use for free - as my daughter said 'the best zoo we ever went to'.
Pretty good experience. Many birds. Price could be bit bit cheaper though, around 10€. A crane was eating dead baby chicks. It was stealthily hidden from walking guests :D unique experience
The place has a good variety of animals to see. It's a bird park but you will also see others who don't fly. That's amazing.

This is a charming, rich, and well-organized museum in the quaint student city of Detmold. Fascinating paintings about the battle of Varus, 9 AD, when prince Arminius, renamed Hermann in the 19 th century, defeated a large Roman army and became a founding myth of the German nation. A special thanks to the administrator at the entrance who pointed out the almost invisible sliding door connecting the Barn and Granary buildings. Without this helpful tip, we would have missed the most significant part of the museum.
I have been there because if the "Detmolder Night of arts". Different museums opened their doors for lovers of arts and crafts. I have to admit I'm one of them. I came to this museum in the evening. I was kind of bummed when they told me that there was only one room open because if was already kinda late. But the paintings in that room were sooo beautiful. Different techniques styles and artists. Some abstract some realistic and with a lot of detail. I would totally recommend this whkle place for groups and single visitors. And every piece in there is worth the prize.
For a small city this is a very good museum, in the center of the town, have 5 mommies, lots of stuffed animals, information about Hermann, etc.
Beautiful museum with pagan Germanic art. Seeing those beautiful traditional and European paintings changed my life for the better.

I used to go here very often in the last few years and always enjoyed the performances a lot. Just saw the Dead Man Walking production a few weeks ago and it was a deeply emotional experience.
A really friendly little theatre with a great atmosphere and wonderful acoustics. The staff are helpful and cheerful, and the production (I saw the opera Faust) was as professional and enthralling as any I've seen in the UK. I look forward to my next visit.
Kim Wilde was amazing
Really nice idea, great concept. Music was beautiful. Kinda weird they wanted kids under six to wear masks.
Every show I have seen here has been wonderful. A great place for some fabulous entertainment.
Very interesting part of history! When we visited, there were some folks there playing great music!
It's beautiful and have good shows
