The best snow!! Beautiful place
Great experience from Misiones to Neuquen.
(Translated by Google) I don't ski, but I had a great time at the hill! It's beautiful, I loved the view, and I was able to visit on a snowy day! You can rent ski and snowboard equipment, as well as ski equipment. Unfortunately, the snow season wasn't great, so many slopes were closed. The restaurant options are pretty basic, in my opinion, and not worth it. It's best to bring your own snacks or eat on the way back.
(Translated by Google) It's more expensive if you go up as a pedestrian ($58,100 July 2025) compared to Cerro Catedral ($36,000). Prices for eating, for example, $32,000 for a hamburger and fries (it can be expensive, like any tourist spot during peak season). It's best to bring just enough to avoid being overloaded. The most important thing is to be very careful not to leave anything in your car; they're stealing a lot when opening them with an anti-theft device. It's very nice if you have the added benefit of it snowing.
(Translated by Google) I went in September 2024. We thought we could go trekking, because it was listed on the trail list. But it turns out this trail is only open in the summer, and even then it's HIGH DIFFICULTY. After about 3 hours, we reached almost the end, with snow up to our waists. There was no one else there, and it snowed and hailed as we climbed, and our tracks were erased. This made the return very complicated: we got lost, we hurt ourselves (because the snow was soft, we were buried in the snow and the branches and trunks underneath hurt us). And there was no one around... Until we were able to find our way with our cell phone GPS and our intuition. The place is beautiful, and I enjoyed it despite everything, and I'd like to return when the trail is open. It was quite an adventure, worrying at times. HIGH DIFFICULTY, of course. I'm sharing this experience mainly to help others who want to try it. Y no había nadie...

The National Park of Arrayans, near Villa Angostura on Lago Nahuel Huapi. Gorgeous, epic amazing hikes, absolutely worth it.
Really beautiful park. I recommend taking the catamaran one way and then walking back. That takes about 3 hours (not walking slowly) including the side trips to the laguna and the two miradors. At the end you can have a great refreshing swim in one of the beaches near the pier.
I am not sure where all these five star reviews are coming from. This trip was not what we were led to believe. Let me start with something no one is mentioning (I suspect because most of these reviews are from “Local Guides”) - the majority of the special trees in the Arrayanes Forest looks dead (see photos). The trees were apparently shocked by a heatwave ten years ago and have not yet recovered, meaning their trunks are gray, not the orange you see in most the promotional photos. This was a massive disappointment, particularly having seen extensive crepe myrtle and madrone forests in the US. The boardwalk tour is fine but lasts about 20 minutes with not much in the form of information along the way. Everyone we encountered at the end of the boardwalk had a “Really? That’s it?” look on their face. We opted for the bike ride out. It is not a leisurely affair as some have mentioned. If you are an experienced mountain biker, this would be great for you. Not for the novice. The first 2 kilometers are very steep up, then down, so you are pushing your bike most of the time (or even carrying it). This repeats several more times until you get to the famed forest, though there are long stretches of a gentle downhill. The return would be a continuous gradual climb back to the steep parts, which would have been really tough for that distance. The trail is well maintained and the flora is nice enough but it would be hard to say this is a better choice than the other hikes in the area. There is only one bay overlook that I recall. The rest is deep forest. We took the boat back (8000 pesos) along the Patagonia east side (instead of the bay) and that was actually quite stunning and the boat guide gave a nice talk. I grew up in the National Park system in the US and I don’t like to besmirch anywhere people are trying to care for nature, but it seems, given the prices being charged by those enabling folks to visit this location, this is a conundrum - the parque needs the money to survive, locals need money to survive, but I guess I am just telling folks to not always believe what you read in reviews.
Entry price for foreigners is 2300 pesos. Make sure it is sunny to take full advantage. You can enjoy the lake if you don't want to spend the amount. There are other nice beautiful places you can enjoy that are free (200 pesos transportation for each). Check my reviews for Villa de Agusturo.
Excellent walk. Magical scenery. The arrayanes bosque is a solid 11 km walk from the entrance so be ready for that. We walked there and were able to buy boat passage back to town once we were at the end; it wasn't necessary to arrange boat passage in advance (though maybe worth doing if you can to avoid the risk if you know that's your plan)
I did it end of May on a sunny day it was perfect, the nature is really diverse and if you are lucky you will see some amazing birds like the Carpintero Negro Gigante who usually are afraid of the tourists. So it's worth going there off-season even if the price is a bit high (300 ARS)
A beautiful Park with unique trees. Paths are very well marked, and there are a few hills to get your heart rate up! There are two boat services, one route takes 45 mins, the other 60 mins. Each approaches the peninsular from opposite sides, so it is worth checking the wind direction to see which will be smoother, if that bothers you. Make sure you sit up top to fully enjoy the views, breathtaking.
Rent a bike in Villa la Angostura and go for a 12 km ride in the park. Full of ups and downs and beautiful. Bring a packed lunch. By bike it should take you 4 hours or so.

If you're a lady, do take the directions near the start to the ladies outdoor loo ... and find some obliging bamboo leaves 🍃 to serve you as loo paper 😄 no entry charged
Waterfall lookout 3 minutes walking from the road, some slop but easy for all the family due is really close from the parking. Is nice but definitely not a must.
Just stunning. A must to see.
You can either walk 40 minutes from Ruta 40 or a small 5’ walk detour if you go up the road to Cerro Bayo

A truly beautiful lake. Chilean immigrants, who were farmers, first arrived here in 1898. They started growing wheat, potatoes, and oat , and raising cows and sheep. Throughout the region, there are numerous farmers with families on both sides of the border. The Argentinian border officers don’t bother them with papers as they use alternative routes.

According to Google maps you can drive up C. Sendero a la Cascada all the way to the waterfall but this is not correct. We went there in December 2023. There is a barrier half way up C. Sendero a la Cascada and a car park and from there the walk is 1.7km one way with a lot of uphill. It is very nice at the top of the waterfall but hard to get a good view of the waterfall itself. There are a couple of lookout points on the way which give a view but you have to be careful.
When we parked to go up the trail, a lady came up to us and charged us $3 usd for "parking", and tried to explain how to get to the waterfall
A hike mostly through a forest logging path. We were asked to pay 3000$ for parking by the people living there. It takes about 1h20 to get to the waterfall. The path is not in the greatest state at the end, I would suggest using a hiking pole.
Nice trekking of 5 km on the forest and mountain surrounding Correntoso Lake. Mid difficulty
It's a relatively easy walk up to the waterfall, and then quite a demanding scramble in places to go behind it (and adds a couple of hours to the walking) but there are some spectacular views above the falls
nice walk through forest, viewpoint of waterfall wasn’t great!
Nice 45min walk. It was difficult to find the way. In some areas, the climb was very difficult. The view from the top was worth it.

(Translated by Google) The Messidor is a French-style castle and is the official summer residence of the governor of the province of Neuquén, since it was acquired by the provincial executive in 1964. This construction is located on a 36-hectare property a few meters from Lake Nahuel Huapi. and the cliffs of the Quetrihué Peninsula in the historic center of Villa La Angostura. The name El Messidor means “golden month” in French and responds to the fact that it is the tenth month of the year when the golden wheat fields shine in France. The construction of this castle began in February 1940 and was completed in January 1942, by architect Alejandro Bustillo, who chose a French style, inspired by Doctor Schutz's house in San Isidro (Buenos Aires), and respected the potential of the natural beauty of the place. There, in one of its rooms, former president María Estela Martínez de Perón –Isabelita- was detained after the coup d'état of March 24, 1976 by order of the Military Junta. She remained a prisoner for seven months in the French-style mansion, under strong guard. Today you can only tour the perimeter by vehicle. 💯 % recomendable.

(Translated by Google) The landscape is beautiful. Ideal for swimming, paddling, relaxing on the soft sands. I was in the northern part. 6000 per person. It has several plots with improvised stoves. A grocery store and restaurant. High but logical prices for where it is. There is no light, only in the 4 bathrooms and showers. Until 8 pm. Hot and cold water with schedules, two hours in the morning and two in the afternoon. Friendly attention from the administrator. Unfortunately there is a character who in a bad way without introducing himself told me not to throw grass on the trees because it makes the place ugly. The inconsistency bothered me because where I was there was grass everywhere. When I asked him if they don't compost, he didn't answer me. I give it three stars because if you can't throw weed, you should put up signs, in addition to improving: place some organic waste bins, at least two faucets in plots, the door locks of the bathrooms that are on the inside (some are outside ), signage, the man who spoke to me about the weed who is dedicated to cleaning the stoves. I was there for two days and he didn't do it. Regular bathroom cleaning. They do it late. The sinks for washing dishes, dirty. It's worth the place, absolutely. The deteriorated access road. You have to be careful. Remember, you can't throw weed. Waste and garbage comes back to you. Despite this prohibition, there is waste dumped where it does not belong. Important clarification: the southern campsite is oriented towards the lake, the south, towards the Ruca Malen river that flows into the Correntoso. This one costs 9000.

The entrance is via a dirt road, in good condition but with some uneven ground that can be a bit overwhelming 😁 The distance from the crossing to the lake is approximately 2.5 km. However, halfway there, we find the first rest stop on the shore of the Espejo River, with beautiful, turquoise-colored potholes. Ideal for children and even for some scuba diving. Continuing on, and upon reaching the lake, there are two campsites with their respective management areas: North (just the lake) and South (some lake and the river entrance). You can park for free 50/100 meters from the lake or pay to enter any of the campsites and use the facilities. I liked the North one better; it has more space and the lake is beautiful. The beach is beautiful! A diff. The depth cut from the large mirror is pronounced, and a few meters from the shore it becomes quite deep. The water is crystal clear, like that of any lake, and the summer temperature is perfectly suitable for swimming and playing in the water. The beach is very comfortable, with medium-fine sand ⛱️ It was one of the most beautiful beaches so far, and it made for a full day at the beach! Some photos to share!!!

What an incredible day! The horses were gentle. The route was incredibly scenic. Our guide and hosts were kind, thoughtful and offered tons of valuable information about the area. And of course the food was by far the best we've had in our two weeks in both Buenos Aires, Bariloche and VLA. We're very grateful for the experience. Mil gracias por todo!
Unique and marvelous experience! The host (Pablo) and guide (Ivan) were extremely nice and really do know how to show you a good time. We loved the horseback riding in the mountains with an excellent view at the top, and we had one of the best food experiences in all of Bariloche and Villa lá Angostura when we came back! 100% recommended, thank you to all
Great experience, we did a one hour ride and walked through beautiful forest and little creeks. Mariano was a pleasure to ride with, recommended this place for a unique experience.
I came alone and took a ride of 1.5 hours. The staff was super nice, and the ride was great, I had a great time and I learned a lot
My wife and I don't ride horses often and all, but this tour was so well-organized and comfortable. Guides Ivan and his brother were both kind and informative while clearly experts handling the horses....which were gentle and used to novice riders. After the out-and-back ride through the woods, along mountain stream beds to a beautiful overlook, we decided to partake in their lunch experience in the onsite Pulperia (what I understand to be a traditional hangout/bar/cabin for gauchos/cowboys). Paul cooked a delicious rustic feast of vegetables and meat. Overall, great experience and highly recommended.
Amazing experience not to miss. We did the 4 hour ride that went through the mountains, beautiful viewpoints, waterfall and eventually back down. You don’t have to be pro at riding, their horses are very well tamed. Would high recommend to anyone visiting Villa La Angostura

My Dad and I drove past this sign and decided to turn back and see what options for rides they had. They offered a 1.5 hour ride through the forest which was perfect as he didn’t want to ride for too long. Our guides were lovely and spoke perfect English. We saw so many gorgeous flowers and took a nice break to look at the scenery near the top of our ride. I’d highly recommend it was a good price, just make sure you can pay with card before going thankfully we had cash otherwise it would have been a situation.
Very nice guide, but really just a walk through the forest. They promised 1:45 hours but we only got 1:20 for the same price (which already was quite expensive).
We had an amazing trail riding experience. The horses were well trained with great temperaments and Andres was knowledgeable and friendly. Beautiful scenery. Best trail ride I've been on.
A fabulous experience with a great guide called Leo. His English was impeccable and his maté the best we've had in Argentina! The views were amazing and horses wonderfully behaved.

When you walk through this place, try to do it silently or at least without shouting; Try to connect with the wealth that surrounds you and understand that you are not alone on that journey.
