Forests
Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes is a small national park located on the Quetrihue Peninsula, which extends into Lago Nahuel Huapi. The park is home to ancient Arrayan trees with cinnamon-colored bark, and visitors can explore the area through various walking trails. Regulations require visitors to enter the park before noon and leave by late afternoon or early evening, depending on the season.
The National Park of Arrayans, near Villa Angostura on Lago Nahuel Huapi. Gorgeous, epic amazing hikes, absolutely worth it.

Really beautiful park. I recommend taking the catamaran one way and then walking back. That takes about 3 hours (not walking slowly) including the side trips to the laguna and the two miradors. At the end you can have a great refreshing swim in one of the beaches near the pier.
Petr V — Google review
I am not sure where all these five star reviews are coming from. This trip was not what we were led to believe. Let me start with something no one is mentioning (I suspect because most of these reviews are from “Local Guides”) - the majority of the special trees in the Arrayanes Forest looks dead (see photos). The trees were apparently shocked by a heatwave ten years ago and have not yet recovered, meaning their trunks are gray, not the orange you see in most the promotional photos. This was a massive disappointment, particularly having seen extensive crepe myrtle and madrone forests in the US. The boardwalk tour is fine but lasts about 20 minutes with not much in the form of information along the way. Everyone we encountered at the end of the boardwalk had a “Really? That’s it?” look on their face. We opted for the bike ride out. It is not a leisurely affair as some have mentioned. If you are an experienced mountain biker, this would be great for you. Not for the novice. The first 2 kilometers are very steep up, then down, so you are pushing your bike most of the time (or even carrying it). This repeats several more times until you get to the famed forest, though there are long stretches of a gentle downhill. The return would be a continuous gradual climb back to the steep parts, which would have been really tough for that distance. The trail is well maintained and the flora is nice enough but it would be hard to say this is a better choice than the other hikes in the area. There is only one bay overlook that I recall. The rest is deep forest. We took the boat back (8000 pesos) along the Patagonia east side (instead of the bay) and that was actually quite stunning and the boat guide gave a nice talk. I grew up in the National Park system in the US and I don’t like to besmirch anywhere people are trying to care for nature, but it seems, given the prices being charged by those enabling folks to visit this location, this is a conundrum - the parque needs the money to survive, locals need money to survive, but I guess I am just telling folks to not always believe what you read in reviews.
Dave K — Google review
Entry price for foreigners is 2300 pesos. Make sure it is sunny to take full advantage. You can enjoy the lake if you don't want to spend the amount. There are other nice beautiful places you can enjoy that are free (200 pesos transportation for each). Check my reviews for Villa de Agusturo.
Antoine A — Google review
Excellent walk. Magical scenery. The arrayanes bosque is a solid 11 km walk from the entrance so be ready for that. We walked there and were able to buy boat passage back to town once we were at the end; it wasn't necessary to arrange boat passage in advance (though maybe worth doing if you can to avoid the risk if you know that's your plan)
Andrew S — Google review
I did it end of May on a sunny day it was perfect, the nature is really diverse and if you are lucky you will see some amazing birds like the Carpintero Negro Gigante who usually are afraid of the tourists. So it's worth going there off-season even if the price is a bit high (300 ARS)
Romain W — Google review
A beautiful Park with unique trees. Paths are very well marked, and there are a few hills to get your heart rate up! There are two boat services, one route takes 45 mins, the other 60 mins. Each approaches the peninsular from opposite sides, so it is worth checking the wind direction to see which will be smoother, if that bothers you. Make sure you sit up top to fully enjoy the views, breathtaking.
Michelle F — Google review
Rent a bike in Villa la Angostura and go for a 12 km ride in the park. Full of ups and downs and beautiful. Bring a packed lunch. By bike it should take you 4 hours or so.

Restaurant
Nicoletto Restaurant De Pastas Caseras is a charming Italian restaurant and pasta factory nestled in a downtown shopping plaza. Despite its unassuming location, the restaurant offers excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere. The menu features an array of pasta dishes with various fillings to suit every palate. The wine selection is extensive, but it's advisable to check for availability before making a selection. Visitors praise the quality of the pasta and find the prices reasonable for the area.
Wow. Without a doubt the best pasta I’ve ever had. And not just good pasta with basic sauces, this restaurant has some of the most unique and delicious flavors. We had lamb ravioli with a curry sauce: out of this world good. Plum, bacon, cheese sorrentinos with leek cream sauce: holy moly delicious. Even my daughter’s fideos with cream sauce from the kids’ menu was outstanding. And our waiter was so friendly and nice!! Definitely don’t miss this place. They also have a to-go store with pasta and sauce.
Ashley T — Google review
This pasta spot offers a creative and diverse menu that stands out. They feature chef-recommended pasta and sauce pairings, or you can customize your dish by selecting from a variety of pastas—mainly sorrentinos and ravioloni—with unique fillings. You then pick your preferred sauce to match. I opted for ravioloni stuffed with lamb, topped with a creamy curry white sauce, and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. We also tried the ricotta and spinach cannelloni. While the texture was nice, the taste was somewhat underwhelming, though still decent overall. Expect to pay around 22,000 to 25,000 pesos per dish based on current pricing. Service was efficient and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. Conveniently situated on the main street, it’s an easy stop for a satisfying pasta meal.

The best dining experience so far in the south of Argentina, we had the puttanesca made vegan with gnocchi, absolutely delicious!! The waiter was super friendly and explained what was vegan friendly. They gave us the tastiest pumpkin soup as a complimentary starter, with fresh bread buns and even made us a vegan dip on the spot to go with it. Home cooked food made with high quality ingredients and love.
Elly H — Google review
A really fantastic, tucked away, hidden gem. Great, humble atmosphere with the culinary skills to back it up. Excellent fresh pasta with great texture and solid flavors. Fluffy gnocchi, chewy malfatti, excellent sauces and wines. Fresh house-made bread to sop it all up. I do wish they'd use a touch more salt, but that seems common around here. I'll be sure to go back if i visit Villa La Angostura again!

This little Italian restaurant and pasta factory you’d miss if just happen to be strolling by downtown. Is located deep inside a shopping plaza and could be easily walked by… Still, it have great service and atmosphere offering lots of pasta dishes with different fillings for every taste. Wine list is quite extensive just make sure they do have the one you want to drink, ask the waiter first, or you’ll get surprised since it happen to ran out of lots of labels easily with no warnings…

Wide variety of choices and good portions. Unfortunately, the quinoa risotto was way too salty and had too little vegetables for the big amount of quinoa. However, the raviloi with lamb and curry sauce was very tasty.

Café Antibes is a delightful gem nestled in the heart of Villa La Angostura, perfect for brunch or a quick lunch. With an inviting atmosphere and friendly staff, this café offers menus in English, making it accessible to all visitors. The food quality shines through with fluffy eggs, fresh fruit drizzled with light almond syrup, and generous portions of flavorful sandwiches made from organic ingredients. Coffee enthusiasts will appreciate the variety of beans available, while smoothies add a refreshing touch to your meal.
What a lovely find. This place is the place to stop for a quick lunch. We ordered just one special sandwich as they were enormous. Everything fresh and organic, great lemonade, lovely staff and atmosphere. My husband also had dessert and I must say the coffee was good.

We ate brunch/breakfast 4 days while in Vila La Agonstura. Excellent service and food quality. Friendly and helpful staff. They have menus in English. The eggs are top notch. Fluffy and flavorful. Fresh fruit with a delicious light almond syrup. Great toast. Coffee is great too. The orange juice was the only small disappointment. It’s pulpy (which is fine) and watery, but maybe just not what three Americans are used to back in the States. Laid back atmosphere, but not laid back service. Great way to start your day!

The tea house Cucu Schulz offers a delightful assortment of fresh, handmade cakes crafted with care by Sofia. Their coffee selection features high-quality Colombian beans that are delicately brewed, emanating a beautiful aroma. The cozy ambiance is enhanced by the presence of flowers, making it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy their delicious offerings. Visitors highly recommend trying their Capuchino Alfajor, which received five stars for its exceptional taste.
Excellent german style tea house, for both sweet and savory treats. The blueverry muffin was great, no too sweet and freshly made!
Pau G — Google review
Pretty good coffee, pretty delicious cakes, in a very pretty cafe, at pretty awful prices. Truth be told, the cakes are significantly more expensive than in other cafes and patisseries, but they do come in a pretty generous portions (and are still worth it, in spite of the price they command). The terrace is a really nice place where to enjoy your food and drinks and it will soon be even nicer, when the ring road around Villa La Angostura is finished and the heavy traffic no longer passes downtown. The interior is rather nice, as well, and with all the natural wood conveys the atmosphere of a Swiss chalet.

If you're looking for a taste of traditional home-style cooking in Villa La Angostura, make sure to stop by Al Alba Parrilla-Resto. This restaurant is known for its excellent grilled beef and a variety of delicious dishes such as empanadas, vegetable fritters, provoleta, blood sausage, lamb, and sweetbreads. The bife de chorizo comes highly recommended and the friendly staff ensures a pleasant dining experience.
We travel to Bariloche region every year and while in the VLA, we don't go to anywhere else to eat but at this place. Prices are a bit higher but the taste of the steak, chicken and sausage are out of this world. Even the fresh bread with chutney assortment they serve is mouthwatering.

Yummy grilled beef, awsome 'saltado' breadand good pisco sours and local vinos. Serviceby Ceasar was excellent. There are several different cuts of beef and you should ask about each one.
Adam S — Google review
Really impressed with the quality of the starter bread and mozzarella sticks. Maybe the best mozzarella sticks I’ve ever had. Was very excited for the main course and was extremely dissatisfied. The quality of the meat was nice, and the cooking seemed well done, but it was void of any flavor. After adding an aggressive amount of salt myself, it was starting to taste just okay. While literally everything else was tasty the meat was an utter disappointment. Maybe this place isn’t the best for meat and should have gotten another way? I wouldn’t recommend for meat at all.

Tinto Bistro is a highly recommended restaurant in the Villa La Angostura area, offering fantastic food and personalized service. The ambience is perfect for both lunch and dinner, with a great wine selection that caters to locals and foreigners alike. Visitors praise the flavorful dishes such as the Bereber, an eggplant and quinoa dish that stands out as a must-try. The restaurant also received accolades for its tenderloin steak and trout options.
Great experience in Villa la Angostura, Patagonia. Best in town in case you are around. Good wine, fresh products and great service. We will be back for sure :)
Alico P — Google review
We visited this restaurant for lunch and, while the food was enjoyable, we were disappointed with the service. The staff informed us that the tap water was contaminated and unsafe to drink, which seemed questionable given that the water in Villa La Angostura is generally of excellent quality and safe for consumption. It felt like a tactic to push us into buying bottled water unnecessarily. This approach left a sour impression on what could have been an otherwise pleasant experience. Transparency and honesty go a long way in creating trust with customers.
Chris W — Google review
Wonderful service and delicious food! Gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options available. We had the risotto and beaf - everything was cooked to perfection. They even brought us out an additional free appetizer when our food was taking a bit longer, which was also incredibly tasty.

This place was recommended to us by several people. We had the egg plant Parma and the tenderloin steak. It was the best steak I have had in several years. The owner compt us two glasses of wine since it was also the day Argentina won the world cup. What a game! Perfect ending to our visit.

We were fortunate to find two excellent restaurants while in the Villa La Angostura area - Tinto & Poniente Patagonia. Tinto was our first experience and I must say it was fantastic. The service and the ambience are perfect. I must single out a few dishes that were fantastic. NO they were better then fantastic: Bereber - WOW the best dish we had. How can we say that about an eggplant & quinoa dish? Let me tell you must get this dish. They have transformed this into one of the best tapas/appetizer dishes we experienced in our entire 3 week trip through Patagonia. I am still thinking about how delicious this dish was. Panmolle - A fantastic solid compliment to Bereber. Halloumi cheese grilled with a pesto and other fantastic flavors Mata Hambrito - An above average dish and a solid compliment to the two dishes above. When we return to the area we will focus all of our food attention to Tinto and Poniente Patagonia for sure.

Restaurant
La Tasca is a relaxed restaurant chain that offers traditional Spanish tapas, paellas, and desserts. It's located about 7 units away from the center, providing a less crowded environment with more natural surroundings. The service is highly praised for being attentive and detail-oriented. Dishes like trucha and abadejo are served in generous portions and cooked to perfection. The wine menu is also recommended.
The waiter was so nice and calm and one of the most attentive! He was wonderful interacting with our 3 year old and brought crayons and toys right away. We'll come again!
Federico G — Google review
The food at La Tasca is simply outstanding—every dish bursts with flavour and demonstrates impeccable culinary skill. However, despite the excellence of the cuisine, the overall dining experience was marred by operational inefficiencies. Upon arrival, we noticed the absence of a queue management system or a host to oversee seating arrangements. Those waiting for a table, including ourselves, were left in a state of uncertainty, with no clear understanding of our position in the queue or when we might be seated. This lack of organisation led to noticeable frustration among patrons, as no updates or guidance were provided by the staff. It is apparent that implementing a proper queue management system or assigning a dedicated host to manage arrivals would significantly enhance the customer experience. This small but crucial adjustment could prevent confusion and ensure a smoother transition from arrival to seating. While La Tasca offers a dining experience that is a triumph in terms of taste, it is clear that operational improvements are needed to match the high standard of its food. Addressing these challenges would undoubtedly elevate La Tasca to a level of excellence that extends beyond the plate.

Nice location (7’ away from the center which means less crowded and more nature around), very good service (very attentive and with attention to detail) and the dishes arrived exactly as we ordered. Big portions of trucha and abadejo (fishes) perfectly cooked, and at the right temperature. Don’t miss out the wine menu! And, if you have the chance, ask for the flan with dulce de leche as for dessert... you’ll be surprised with the size of it!

Looking for a place to eat visiting puerto manzano for the day we discovered this place googling. Must say it was an unexpected gift for the trip. Octopus, lamb goulash, and other complex dishes…. Wonderful experience! You should consider changing whatever plans you had and have lunch/dinner here!

We came here for lunch and the seafood rice was amazing. So was the trout ceviche. Overall super delicious meal in the middle of nowhere!

Great experience. Even though it’s by the side of the road, it’s charming and quaint inside. The waitress and bartender did their best to speak English to me and were very kind. The steak was pretty good (not the best I’ve had in Argentina, but still very good). The bread and appetizers were perfect. Overall, very nice place to have lunch.

El Ocaso Resto Bar is a tranquil and well-maintained establishment offering a lovely view of the lake, conveniently located near the main dock. The menu features a variety of food options and craft beer at reasonable prices. Visitors can enjoy delicious empanadas, snacks, and meat dishes. The restaurant provides excellent service with quick serving times and generous portions of homemade pasta. Additionally, guests appreciate the accommodating nature of the staff, making it a highly recommended dining option by the lakeshore.
(Translated by Google) Excellent place. Small but very comfortable, clean, good service. I give it 5 stars because they served us very quickly, the food was very abundant and delicious, the pasta felt homemade. On the shore of the lake to eat something after a walk. The price is moderate for the area. They treated us very well and quickly. They let us be with the dog. Highly recommended (Original) Excelente lugar. Pequeño pero muy cómodo, limpio, buena atención. (Translated by Google) Highlights: Excellent location with a sensational view, very good beer. The food is quite limited in variety, among the specialties are the smoked trout and smoked lamb sandwiches, which I thought were delicious but I don't know if I would put them as a "specialty" being a sandwich with fetas and not pieces of meat. I highlight the lamb empanada that we tried as an appetizer, it was very delicious.

(Translated by Google) Quiet place, well attended, with a very nice view of the lake. It is very close to the main dock. There is a variety of food and craft beer. The prices, although not cheap, are not very expensive either. We ordered empanadas, a snack and something with meat. Everything rich. There aren't that many places nearby to eat so it's a good option. (Translated by Google) You can tell that the place is run by the family and they care that people eat well. The food was good. We had the misfortune of, along with diners from another table, finding hair in the food which ruined the experience. On the other hand, the bathroom was quite neglected and the light did not work. I highlight the location and the friendliness of the girl. They have a menu of the day with two options that includes dessert. Before boarding and also with the return of people leaving the catamaran it usually fills up and the wait can be long to get your order (coffee, hot water for mate, etc.). If they are patient...

Day 2

Keep it simple
For day 2, these 5 places should be enough to fill your day with something exciting to do in Villa La Angostura. Start the day with Cascadas Ñivinco and make your way through the city to get to Ataliva Brewery. This should take about 8 hours of your day.

Waterfalls
Series of beautiful waterfalls located in the Argentine Patagonia, near the town of Villa La Angostura. The cascading falls are set against a backdrop of lush forest and rugged terrain, creating a serene and picturesque natural setting perfect for hiking, photography, and enjoying the tranquil beauty of Patagonia.

Waterfall was awesome! The river crossing made it more of an adventure Easy hike and nice way to break up the drive
Zachary L — Google review
Beautiful waterfalls. A short and very flat route, most of the route is shaded. At the beginning of the route there is a stream (very shallow) that needs to be crossed and shoes taken off. Note that there are a lot of car burglaries in the parking lot, take the things that are important to you.
Lior P — Google review
These cascades are so much fun! Be warned, the walk itself is nothing special and the cascades are not crazy big. BUT.. it’s a very fun day walking around the cascades because it has multiple levels and you can wade through them. Literally cross the cascades on foot! The color of the water is also aquamarine and very bright :)
Alesia D — Google review
You have to pay 10000 pesos a non official to "protect your car". What a shame. Do not encourage this individual by paying him.
Charles A — Google review
Pleasant and relatively short hike (with some hills and calf-deel river crossings) that ends at a suprisingly spectacular waterfall. Lovely!
James — Google review
An incredible and breathtaking destination on an enjoyable hike. We were greeted by police who warned us to leave nothing of value in the car. Be aware you need to cross a strong current stream, so wear shorts or be prepared to change.
Andrew M — Google review
This is one of the few easily accessible waterfalls on the Ruta de los Siete Lagos. Note that you need to cross a twenty feet river to access it (knee deep water in late spring). Sandals recomended. It is possible to swim near the waterfall, but the water is pretty cold.

Lookouts
Cascada Inacayal offers a relatively simple stroll to the waterfall, followed by a challenging scramble to access its rear. This detour extends the hike by a couple of hours but rewards visitors with breathtaking vistas above the cascades. The pathway leading to the attraction can be difficult to navigate in certain areas, requiring some effort to reach the summit. Nonetheless, the panoramic views from there make it all worthwhile.
According to Google maps you can drive up C. Sendero a la Cascada all the way to the waterfall but this is not correct. We went there in December 2023. There is a barrier half way up C. Sendero a la Cascada and a car park and from there the walk is 1.7km one way with a lot of uphill. It is very nice at the top of the waterfall but hard to get a good view of the waterfall itself. There are a couple of lookout points on the way which give a view but you have to be careful.
Philip C — Google review
When we parked to go up the trail, a lady came up to us and charged us $3 usd for "parking", and tried to explain how to get to the waterfall
Maxi B — Google review
A hike mostly through a forest logging path. We were asked to pay 3000$ for parking by the people living there. It takes about 1h20 to get to the waterfall. The path is not in the greatest state at the end, I would suggest using a hiking pole.
Marc B — Google review
Nice trekking of 5 km on the forest and mountain surrounding Correntoso Lake. Mid difficulty
Juan R — Google review
It's a relatively easy walk up to the waterfall, and then quite a demanding scramble in places to go behind it (and adds a couple of hours to the walking) but there are some spectacular views above the falls

Cabalgatas Y Cuatriciclos Montahue Villa La Angostura offers a unique and marvelous experience for both experienced and novice riders. The well-organized tour provides gentle horses, scenic routes through ancient forests, and breathtaking mountain views. The knowledgeable guides offer valuable information about the area while making guests feel at ease. After the ride, visitors can enjoy a traditional lunch experience in the onsite Pulperia.
What an incredible day! The horses were gentle. The route was incredibly scenic. Our guide and hosts were kind, thoughtful and offered tons of valuable information about the area. And of course the food was by far the best we've had in our two weeks in both Buenos Aires, Bariloche and VLA. We're very grateful for the experience. Mil gracias por todo!

My wife and I don't ride horses often and all, but this tour was so well-organized and comfortable. Guides Ivan and his brother were both kind and informative while clearly experts handling the horses....which were gentle and used to novice riders. After the out-and-back ride through the woods, along mountain stream beds to a beautiful overlook, we decided to partake in their lunch experience in the onsite Pulperia (what I understand to be a traditional hangout/bar/cabin for gauchos/cowboys). Paul cooked a delicious rustic feast of vegetables and meat. Overall, great experience and highly recommended.

We specifically chose this place because of the reviews and high star rating. Perhaps this might be why we were left a bit disappointed. The service was excellent. Our waitress was patient, funny and attentive. You could tell the other staff were keeping an eye on all patrons. We ordered the Lamb Patagonia, ribeye steak and Entrania along with two salads. The salads were great, but the one was quite expensive. The entrania was good, but not out of this world. The ribeye was ordered medium well but came closer to well done making it a bit tough. The lamb was ok, parts a bit dry. The presentation wasn’t great; everything came mixed together in one iron pan. We finished with a homemade flan with Dulce de Leche and a chocolate mousse to share. Both were excellent, wish we hadn’t of shared. We had a bottle of wine which was great, our waitress recommended it. The total bill came to 15000 pesos (this was the amount discounted if paid in cash) for 4 people. There was not really an energy in the place. It was quite cold inside, not really any music or vibe. Earlier in the week we at La Posta, which was excellent. Everything was divine. All the meat was huge portions, juicy, perfectly done. we saw someone eating the lamb and the presentation was phenomenal, it looked juicy and gorgeous and they people eating it said it was fantastic. The staff were so friendly and full of energy and chats. The place was warm and cosy and full of vibes. The price was similar, a little cheaper. I am stating this so that you choose wisely if you have less nights or perhaps Chop Chop can consider the details more.

Great place to enjoy the view, the sunset, and have a few drinks and tapas. Really yummy food. We enjoyed Tequenos, Provoleta, and empanadas. Small but cozy inside. Lots of space outside if it’s warm enough.

Good food, good service, good views, good athmosphere. Main dishes are pizzas and burguers. They have beers and cocktels. Plenty of seats inside and outside. Free wifi

The place has a very nice view, specially during sunset. The table service was good, prices appropriate to the location and food was ok. Beer options were very short. Only 2 local draft beers in summer?.... It deserves to be visited and have drink.

Great views over the lake, good service and nice beers. Didn't have food. Prices are a bit high
Monika — Google review
Nice terrace with a really great view. We ordered 3 tapas, all of which appeared to have come from the freezer and were completely overpriced. The beers were also more than twice as expensive as in other breweries in town. Initially, the waiter got our order wrong and brought a different tapa to our table. We realized only after the first bite and were told that we now have to pay for the wrong tapa as well, because „it was already eaten“. We pushed back and in the end didn’t have to pay for it. But still, overall not a great experience.
Tobias E — Google review
Crazy long service. They will take 30 mins to bring you beer and lemonade. 45 mins for food. Even if it’s pizza. And we came at 6pm to almost empty restaurant. Cannot imagine it at rush hour. The waiter was ok but he was the alone. Food was not good either. It was 5 of us, we ordered different dishes. Kids left hungry because they did not like food (we did not try their sad looking Milanese for kids). Both me and my husband left hungry too. Fries were fine though! Not that good of the view, especially with dust cloud from the road that is between restaurant and a lake.

Super nice place! The view is amazing, especially to enjoy the sunset. The outside area is big and super cozy with little lights and a fire pit. The drinks and the food were really good, I totally recommend the ginger-drink!! Super friendly service. Love the place!

Amazing views, great lemonade. Not enough waiting staff (2 girls), ladies toilet out of use, mens toilet flush didn't work. Trout bruschetta was pretty horrible; mayonnaise (bruschetta?!), yellowing rocket and tiny bits of trout. Unimaginative desserts on offer. Do not recommend if you want a meal.

El Mercado, paseo encantado is a trendy and popular social space in Buenos Aires that attracts both tourists and locals. The market is beautifully constructed using reclaimed materials from old Buenos Aires "conventillos" and English railways, giving it a unique wild west aesthetic. Visitors can enjoy a variety of drinking and eating shops offering good beer, pastries, and fast food. The venue also features a beautiful garden with table service, blending seamlessly with the surrounding nature.
El Mercado is a really nice place made with recycled materials. There aren’t a lot of restaurants, but the few that are here are quite decent. The ambiance is unique, charming, and environmentally friendly. Hertz car rental is also on the premises.

A trendy place, very popular with travellers. Floors, Windows, wood, ironwork and more were brought from old Buenos Aires " conventillos", mainly from San Telmo. You can also see remains from old English railways. Mainly drinking and eating shops. Good beer, pastries and fast food. Beautiful garden with table service. The building matches the villa and doesn't spoil Nature around. The Market is conveniently located behind trees and vegetation, which preserves the green views from the roads. Good car park. Going on foot, you'll cross over a little cozy bridge which, in a way, resembles that of " Madison's Bridge"...kind of. If you are in Villa la Angostura, El Mercado is worth a visit.

(Translated by Google) It's more expensive if you go up as a pedestrian ($58,100 July 2025) compared to Cerro Catedral ($36,000). Prices for eating, for example, $32,000 for a hamburger and fries (it can be expensive, like any tourist spot during peak season). It's best to bring just enough to avoid being overloaded. The most important thing is to be very careful not to leave anything in your car; they're stealing a lot when opening them with an anti-theft device. It's very nice if you have the added benefit of it snowing. (Translated by Google) I went in September 2024. We thought we could go trekking, because it was listed on the trail list. But it turns out this trail is only open in the summer, and even then it's HIGH DIFFICULTY. After about 3 hours, we reached almost the end, with snow up to our waists. There was no one else there, and it snowed and hailed as we climbed, and our tracks were erased. This made the return very complicated: we got lost, we hurt ourselves (because the snow was soft, we were buried in the snow and the branches and trunks underneath hurt us). And there was no one around... Until we were able to find our way with our cell phone GPS and our intuition. The place is beautiful, and I enjoyed it despite everything, and I'd like to return when the trail is open. It was quite an adventure, worrying at times. HIGH DIFFICULTY, of course. I'm sharing this experience mainly to help others who want to try it. Y no había nadie...

Nestled among the Antarctic Beech trees on the north shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi, Las Balsas Relais & Châteaux is a charming fifteen-room lodge in Villa La Angostura. The lodge offers a perfect blend of outdoor activities and luxurious pampering, with its own boathouse and jetty on one of the lake's most beautiful bays. Guests can enjoy trout fishing, skiing at Cerro Bayo resort, or hiking to Los Arrayanes national park.
My husband and I had an exceptional time here celebrating our honeymoon! Every detail was thoughtfully considered, from the scent that carries you from the lounges into your room to the beautiful spa, the stunning rooms with lake views, and even a pillow menu—everything you could ever want. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make our stay extra special for the occasion. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone and can’t wait to return!

Horrible experience with the receptionist! We were staying at Correntoso and wanted to get to know the hotel thinking we may want to stay there in the future. The receptionist REFUSED to let us take even a Quick Look at the hotel. I guess they don’t like the idea of having future guests. I would never stay here just from this experience. In addition it is a difficult gravel road to get to the hotel from the main road.

Had an amazing time at this wonderful hotel. Its hidden location is perfect for escaping the city and all the urban buzz. The hotel is nestled by a lake, right in front of the National Park, with stunning mountain views. The exterior has a historic charm, while the interior is chic and classic, a cozy chalet style. It seems like the hotel was recently renovated, as everything looks much newer compared to the older photos. The spa was beautiful, with a warm outdoor pool and a cozy fireplace inside - an exceptional experience. We also took a short forest hike on the hotel grounds and went on a horse riding excursion around the lake. The service was warm and welcoming. If you’re looking to escape the city and enjoy some nature without giving up comfort, this is the place for you.

We really enjoyed our 3-night stay at Las Balsas. I would describe it as rustically luxurious. The spa with the indoor/outdoor heated pool was delightful and the staff was super responsive.
Lynn K — Google review
We had a nice time but the beds are very uncomfortable and had to check out early because we were unable to sleep. It was disappointing that the hotel manager was unable to be flexible to refund us 1 out of the 5 nights we had booked and paid for.
Henry S — Google review
The staff were friendly, the place is lovely. The issue was the service and food. On more than one occasion I waited for over 15 minutes for water and coffee. The dinner portions for the fish and rice dish were tiny- perhaps 2 ounces. My vegetarian rice dish was soo small, I finished it in 5 bites. The fresh warm bread I had for one dinner was then toasted for the next dinner. I asked for fresh rolls and they said they did not have any. I heard others complaining about the long service delays. Another complained about the prices of the wines. I too found the wine prices very steep. I can only assume they were down staff in the kitchen and perhaps even the servers. However my first night there my husband and I were the only ones in the restaurant and we waited over 15 minutes for water. I hope they correct these issues soon as the location is beautiful and the staff are very kind

This place is just perfection…. You have a great view on the lake and the rooms are comfortable and very well decorated. Our group of 5 people was served by Pablo and we all had a wonderful time. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the ciervo (deer), which was the best deer I have had on my trip to Argentina. Amélie Fondue y Restó is a charming and beautifully appointed restaurant located on a side street, offering an outstanding dining experience away from the tourist traps. The decor resembles a Swiss chalet, creating a classy and inviting atmosphere. The service is amazing, with Emiliano, the owner's son, providing engaging and attentive hospitality. The menu features excellent fondue options such as the Alpino fondue with high-quality cheese and sausage varieties.

The cheese fondue is a real trait, with great sausage varieties (we ordered the Alpino fondue) and excellent cheese quality. For dessert if you want to close the night in hardcore mode you should try the chocolate fondue, it's amazing. The cocktails are well balanced and super fresh, we recommend the "Ouzo Patagonia" drink. The staff treated us excellent so we made a new reservation right away to come again the following night.

Great dinner & service. Cassandra our server, extra attentive. Very good recommendations. Edgar the Owner came to our table and checked in - nice. He took care of a special request. Fondue was also very good. Great choice all around.

We had a fantastic experience here after a few days in a row of unseasonably stormy weather. The food, drinks, and service were all spot on. So clear that a lot of love and history goes into the restaurant. 100% recommend, gracias a todo Emiliano!

An outstanding meal in a charming restaurant. We were so glad to get off the tourist trap restaurants on the Main Street and find this beautifully appointed restaurant on a side street. Great decor (think Swiss chalet ), amazing service and excellent food. If you love fondue, this is a a must. We also had other dishes that were well made and presented. Emiliano(the owners son) who seated us was so engaging and attentive. A hidden gem in Villa la Angostura- classy!!

Fabulous fondue!! And amazing creme brulee! One of our best meals in Argentina! The staff were so welcoming and friendly despite our poor Spanish.

Restaurant
Pistach, a highly recommended restaurant in Villa La Angostura, offers an excellent dining experience. The ambiance of the place is remarkable, and the cuisine served is equally impressive, especially their delectable desserts. Diners have raved about the trout agnolloti as well as the calamari ink tagliatelle and Pad Thai dishes. The staff at Pistach are known for their friendly service and they also provide great wine suggestions to complement your meal.
Local place, very warm and perfect. Price ok.

We ordered the onion soup, 4 cheese pizza and oche de bife with salad. The soup was amazing so was the pizza, the steak was pretty small but still good. Overall the meal was great- the wine wasn’t amazing (husband was disappointed) but I would come back :)

We came here upon a friends initiative. Must say the food is nothing to come back for. My Cesar’s salad was very average and my husband’s ‘trucha’ was extremely fishy. The service was good and overall we had a pleasant evening but gastronomically we expected more.

Read all the wonderful reviews for this spot and was very excited. I had the ojo de chorizo with pure de calabaza. Unfortunately it was very bland and lacked any flavor. Same for the calabaza pate. My girlfriend had the agnolottis de trucha which was very good. I think I may have ordered the wrong item… Either way, great service and cozy setting. The bread and aioli served initially was delicious also.

I rarely write reviews, but my experience at this restaurant was so disappointing that I feel compelled to warn others. If I could give zero stars, I would. We started with a so-called Greek salad, but what arrived was a pile of wilted, old lettuce that looked unappetizing. When we asked for it to be remade, the waiter dismissed our concerns, insisting it looked fine and threatened to charge us regardless. The nightmare continued with our main courses. I ordered agnolotis, only to receive a version completely lacking cheese, which is essential for the dish’s flavor. Ordered a a curry with rice that turned out to be a thin, under-seasoned soup—a far cry from the authentic meal we were expecting. To top it off, when we finally asked for the check, the staff made us hunt it down instead of bringing it to our table. The overall service was inattentive and unprofessional, and the entire experience left a very bitter taste. I strongly advise anyone considering this place to look elsewhere—this restaurant is not worth your time or money.

Really great food, very tasty, small portions. Nice service! Favorite place in the area!

The place looks excellent, and the food is just as good, especially the desserts. I had trout agnolloti, which were good, and we also had calamari ink tagliatelle, and the Pad Thai, both great choices as well. The service was very friendly, and the wine they suggested was very good. Desserts were the best: the chocolate one is king. All in all a very good experience, even though the place is a bit noisy and they take their time in the kitchen. Remember to make reservations!! It's very busy!
