Fabulous views. The drive is amazing. If you love the outdoors a must visit. Pack a picnic and spend a few hours.
Our visit to Salto del Penitente was nothing short of an adventure! With six friends, we explored this breathtaking spot, and it definitely delivered on excitement. The highlight was the ropeway—an exhilarating ride that added a rush of adrenaline to the scenic beauty surrounding us. One thing to note: the network is unreliable, so carry cash for payments. While cards are accepted, if you need to do a bank transfer, you’ll have to connect to Wi-Fi from a nearby location where you book the ropeway. The staff handling the ropeway were very helpful, making the experience even more enjoyable. For food, the Parador restaurant is a great stop, offering a solid menu with good options. It’s the perfect place to recharge after your adventures. However, if you're heading to Agua del Penitente, be extra cautious—the road is slippery. Unfortunately, we witnessed someone take a serious fall, which was a stark reminder of how important it is to watch your step in these rugged areas. Despite the few challenges, this place is packed with adventure, making it a fantastic destination for thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike. Highly recommended for those looking for an exciting and scenic getaway!
One of the best nature spots in the country. Beautiful waterfall that runs through a rock channel into a pond with hills all around. Great spot for a picnic, to relax, or do some of the activities they offer.
The place was pretty amazing, the view were wonderful, wouldn’t miss going.
Great relaxing place. Lunch at the parador is great and the relaxing view from there is even better
With a beautiful lake and wonderful waterfall, Salto del Penitente is a gorgeous site to visit while in Uruguay. The hike to the different locations on the site is short, yet a bit steep to go to the waterfall. There are also zipline attractions in the site, though a very short glide.
Beautiful place, full of nature, amazing landscape, great for adventurous people, beautiful sightseeing. Great for families, not accessible for people on wheelchairs. There's food and shelter. It has a couple of attractions like zipline and others. Not dangerous at all.

The Salus Natural Park added to the experience with fascinating stories and well-maintained facilities. (Translated by Google) This park is worth a visit, learning about its history and walking the paths that lead to the Puma Fountain. There's also a lovely country restaurant, very enjoyable on sunny days and with affordable prices.
(Translated by Google) An incredible place. Important: Keep in mind that the road isn't 100% paved, and if you get dizzy, you could have a bad time (it's best to bring Biodramine). The place is very beautiful, and you can see lizards everywhere.
(Translated by Google) A very nice place, very well maintained, and the people are friendly. The trails are easy to hike. The entrance fee is very reasonable for the park. The facilities are well maintained. Regarding the restaurant, I can't speak highly of the food, as it was packed when we went, and we didn't want to wait.
(Translated by Google) The place is beautiful, clean, and quiet. We went with my 5-year-old son, and he loved exploring every corner and letting his imagination run wild at every sound, hoping for an animal to appear. He didn't see it; surely, with the noise of the people, they're all hiding. But it's a beautiful experience. We visited the puma fountain (free) and then hiked the trail to the waterfall ($100). The wooden games are also a beautiful place for a family picnic. Since we weren't prepared, we decided to go to the inn there. The ravioli were delicious. The only constructive criticism is that it says "country restaurant," and the truth is that there wasn't a great variety of country food to make the place more special. Another 5 stars for everything: the attention upon arrival and the girl at the inn, etc. (Original) El lugar hermoso, limpio, tranquilo.

(Translated by Google) The Cerro Arequita area is a destination with great recreational and tourist potential, which could offer a unique experience to its visitors. Unfortunately, the current administration does not uphold this value. The park ranger responsible for the area demonstrates an uncooperative attitude and, in many cases, acts on personal grounds that end up affecting the visit. The restrictions imposed—such as the two-hour limit on the area and the requirement to leave by 5:00 PM, even when it's still bright outside—are arbitrary and without clear justification. These regulations, coupled with the lack of consistency in communicating schedules and rules, generate discomfort and discouragement among visitors. Instead of promoting respect for the environment through education and community building, the choice is to impose rigid rules that restrict the opportunity to enjoy the park in a calm and responsible manner. Another worrying aspect is the restrictive stance toward outdoor sports activities, such as climbing, slacklining, and hiking. Instead of promoting these sustainable practices that connect people with nature and foster a culture of sport and respect for the environment, they are discouraged without solid technical foundations. It has even been argued that equipping climbing routes harms the mountain, without any evidence or studies to support this claim. These types of decisions not only limit the responsible use of the space, but also go against the development of an active community committed to the natural environment. Furthermore, the site lacks adequate signage and basic services such as restrooms, which are essential in an area with so much tourist activity. It would be desirable to review the management of the area so that Cerro Arequita welcomes its visitors with the openness, information, and respect it deserves, enhancing its natural and sporting value instead of restricting it with inflexible or arbitrary decisions.
(Translated by Google) very good trail. It is quite demanding, you have to be prepared and have a dry day.
(Translated by Google) Terrible management. The restrictive rules they impose change every week. Zero initiative, the trails are poorly marked, there isn't enough staff to enforce reasonable hours, and there's no official communication channel other than the park ranger, who changes the rules weekly. In case of accidents, they have no tools to carry out a possible rescue. It's a real shame that the wings of athletes in this country are being clipped for no reasonable reason, and that a park ranger is so cruel to a sports community.
(Translated by Google) Cerro Arequita is a beautiful place and truly worth visiting, but the current regulations are too restrictive and greatly detract from the experience. Visitors are only allowed a maximum of two hours, and although sunset is around 7 p.m., they require you to leave by 5 p.m., regardless of whether you're climbing or trekking. It's a shame that you can't enjoy a full day at such a beautiful site, especially if you're coming from Montevideo and spending more time traveling than on the mountain itself. I hope they'll review these restrictions and offer a little more flexibility so you can make the most of your visit.

Our stay in Valle del Hilo de la Vida was an unforgettable experience Our hosts couldn’t have been more welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed Gustavo’s tour to the on-site prehistoric Cairns. The tour was greatly enhanced by his years of study and personal experience which he graciously shared. The rooms and salons are impeccably designed with style and a touch of added serenity. We rested in the meditative outdoor spaces near the brook, and in the shaded hammocks. Breakfast was abundant, delicious and made extra special by the tranquil and panoramic views. Highly recommended.

(Translated by Google) Being in this place has been magical for our family, first and foremost infinitely grateful to its owners Adriana and Gustavo for the HUMAN warmth (almost forgotten by most) they had towards us and our children. Places like these and people like them are everything that's right. It is remarkable the love they have put into the place and that everything has a purpose as to why they chose it that way. Having the opportunity to eat from their kitchen was undoubtedly a wonderful experience, healthy, homemade food, food that nourishes. Thank you Adriana for taking our tastes into account and worrying about every detail. A space that invites you to reflect, introspect, to connect with yourself and those around you. The tour with Gustavo, guide and caretaker of this land together with Adriana, is a unique experience, a simple, pleasant, warm man, eager to share his knowledge and you can tell that he really enjoys it and is happy sharing his wisdom with you. We were there two days, and I left so rested that it seemed like weeks had passed. It is a space that invites you to go alone, as a couple or as a family. In my experience, having gone as a family reminded me of the importance of spaces to share with our children and the importance of being present when we are by their side. There are no children who want to be on the screen all day, there are parents who do not always take the time to sit down and share with them. Thank you Adriana and Gustavo for sharing this magical place with us. Hoping to return soon. Esperando volver pronto. Saludos Victoria Scarano&Caio Dutra

A great place and a very passionate person the owner of the place. You have to visit it but not having already something booked in your schedule. Just enjoy the stories and explanations! Is worth it!
The gentleman who built these fully working miniatures from found objects is a mechanical genius. We fully enjoyed our visit to this delightful quirky museum. It definitely worth a stop.
Fun for the whole family - provided a ton of information about the country of Uruguay and learned a lot about machines- which were amazing.

(Translated by Google) It is a very nice place, the ascent is on foot, it is a little more than a kilometer, with quite a slope and loose stone, but with care anyone can climb. The view from above is spectacular! Highly recommended! Not easy to get there, and nothing much to see, besides the view from the top, after walking up 15 Minutes.
(Translated by Google) An incomparable place from the viewpoint, faith fills the soul and brings a unique renewal. It takes 25 minutes to reach the Virgin, and from there the view is unbeatable. (Translated by Google) I felt a little sad when I saw that place that I remembered so fondly closed with yellow stop tapes blocking the way up to the sanctuary and with a sign that says closed due to a sanctuary emergency...a beautiful, open-air place that does good to so many people. closed, but not the tourist attraction restaurant and horseback riding and penitent jump zip line... it seemed like a total lack of judgment to close it... 🤷🏽‍♀️

(Translated by Google) The place is very beautiful. It transmits a lot of peace. Beautiful views of the valleys and city of mines. Point against the difficult access for people with disabilities or ailments. There should be another access to the summit for these people. Or like in other similar places in other parts of the world where they have transportation for that type of people. Another point that I personally did not like is the ambient (spiritual) sound that they want to achieve with the series of bad sound speakers placed along the route, they are very redundant since the silence and the environment already provides peace. that one seeks either to pray, meditate or just relax. (Original) El lugar es muy bello. Transmite mucha paz .
(Translated by Google) The climb to the hill is quite simple, allowing you to reach it and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains and Cerro de Minas. (Translated by Google) Very pretty. Climbing the stairs in the last part isn't as much of a challenge as continuing on foot. The last few meters walking (not the stairs) are the most demanding. Covered with all kinds of plaques, a beautiful view. Everything is very clean. The bathrooms and cafeteria are excellent. Bring water. This is a highly recommended walk. Great place to visit.
It is a beautiful temple with a magnificent view, however the person in charge has nothing to do with the Buddhist and human values that one might expect. I came with the desire to help, to work on myself and I was received with very negative energies. The temple and the natural energy of this place is five stars but the man in charge has nothing to be here. Namaste
Budist? Nothing at all Faviana's dream broken. Feshado. Increivle. My time is waisted. No worth it. Efforless. Muy ricas las tortas fritas by the way.
See you soon, school👁️😇💜🌈🤗

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately I could only see it with the drone. The place seems beautiful, it gave me the impression of being on the highest part of the hill and the views it has of the surrounding hills and valleys are wonderful. From what I was able to find out, they don't open their doors very often and when they do, the price is quite high. (Translated by Google) The entrance is very expensive, you have to make an appointment prior to the visit. Which usually takes a long time. The place where it is built is beautiful. But Buddhism itself leaves much to be desired. It's like a big tourist attraction, where money is more than important. (Translated by Google) On the outside it is quite nice, although it doesn't seem to be very big. When I went it was closed, which seems to be common in all churches in Uruguay. The location of this cathedral is striking, embedded at the end of a street that faces the square. (Translated by Google) This building was inaugurated on April 10, 1892 and since 1960 it has been the headquarters of the Diocese of Minas. One of the few churches that is not located in front of the main square of the city, but separated from it and linked by a wide alley. This makes it more relevant. It is a temple with a sober interior, and is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Juan Antonio Lavalleja was baptized in this church.
