Uruguay, Departamento Roche, Punta del Diablo, Playa de los Pescadores. Translated, Punta del Diablo means Cape of the Devil and Playa de los Pescadores means Beach of the Fishermen. Once Punta del Diablo was a small fishing village. Today it is a major tourist hotspot. Nevertheless, the place has kept its original character. There are a lot of small, brightly painted houses. Graffiti can often be found on the walls. On the beach you can find the beautiful fishing boats, I don't know if they are just decoration today. People often surf at Playa de los Pescadores. The waves, however, are not too big. Along the beach you can eat in the wooden bars. The streets are often not sealed. The rocks offer a very nice contrast to the sandy stalls. I liked it very much in Punta del Diablo.

A really nice walk down Punta del Diablo and you'll find yourself into the Feria de Artesanos, where local artisans and artists will gleefully show their products and art, and you'll know they care about their craft, which is part of a lifestyle only attainable by those who live in places like Punta del Diablo. I hope there are better places in PDD. I had a fun sundowner here with a mate, but wished the whole time for something more epic. The surf was pounding, the sun was glowing, there were no clouds, and there was a nice breeze. Should have been perfect, and yet, it felt a little shabby & touristy. I could have been in Mexico. Can't complain about the prices (excellent) nor the service (our bartender was fine), but it could have been so much more.
