Amazing. We went on a shoulder season (November) Sunday, and early (7pm) because of two kids. It was very quiet and only two here until 8pm but i hear very busy friday/Saturday. Cero taste but a fair owner. We ordered the Gnocci in tomato sauce and the chicken Risotto. Additionally we got a beer and some nuts as an appetizer, both were nice. The food itself was disappointing, we had several bites and really tried to identify the tastes. After several tests we came to the conclusion that it just had no taste at all. The waitress seemed to be shocked when we said, that we didn’t like it but are willing to pay, since the food was fine and not rotten or anything. The combination of a rather expensive dish (10 US$) and zero taste just didn’t satisfy us to keep on eating. She directly went to get her boss and the owner. We explained that we can not judge the Gnocci, as this is supposed to be a local dish (maybe it’s supposed to be that way, tomato sauce like out of the can, and very doughy gnocci). But the Risotto we can say tastes not like wine, has a yellow color but doesn’t taste like curry. The owner explained that it’s made with tumaric (yellow color), doesn’t have wine in it and the sauce next to it is made out of eggplant. In our opinion only stuff that barely has taste. So the only thing it had was rice, chicken, mushrooms out of a can, yellow color, definitely cheese and eggplant. He obviously didn’t like our opinion but said that we don’t have to pay. We highly appreciate his behavior, although it was new to us to leave a restaurant like that. After that we went down to the empanada stores and enjoyed the simple and cheap food. The view and the beer were nice and the owner acted professionally, therefore two stars. Overpriced, average quality and low creativity therefore no more stars.

As usual only spanish menu, so bring your spanish skills. We visited it for 2 times and were not disappointed. At 9 pm it was crowded (end of season in early March).

I was not at all optimistic of finding a good breakfast in Punta del Diablo, so was very pleasantly surprised by this gem of a cafe on a back road. Their "desayuno completo" features fresh, tasty croissants, freshly squeezed orange juice, seriously good fruit salad, yoghurt, a slice of coffee cake, scrambled eggs, and decent coffee. The space is very peaceful, with loads of shade, sunflowers at the entrance, and is very nicely decorated. Tables are spaced well, giving the place a very relaxed vibe. They feature live jazz on certain nights.

The meal started with some toasted pumpkin seeds and our first taste of a local Uruguayan Tannat (ecological) red wine - a stand out among some very competitive red wines we've tried from Argentina and Chile! Ordering the black bean burger with the caprese wrap, we were not 100% sure what to expect, but were soon reassured with a pair of great homemade dishes. The burger was perfectly seasoned, with a homemade wholemeal bun and beautiful carrot and semillas dip, whilst the wrap was a folded tortilla which arrived with a beautiful salad. For dessert was 3 spoons of wonderfully sweet homemade passionfruit sorbet and a vegan, sugarfree fruit ice cream made with cashews! The restaurant is a lovely little project, a short stroll from the beach. A really lovely and cosy little place which we would recommend to anyone visiting the area. Bravo Gaston y Natalia.
