One of the many beautiful lakes in Greece, located at the homonymus picturesque city. Good entertainment options around the lake (e.g. bars, restaurants e.t.c) as well as accommodation options. Pretty nice on all seasons of the year, absolutely worth visiting.
Beautiful, picturesque, tranquile. Multiple places to seat and relax by the lake and absorb its sights. Restaurants and cafes. Beautiful road just 1m away from lake shore....
An absolutely amazing place. A truly gem in Greece. The lake offering lots of hikes along its shores and the surrounding mountains. Also it’s worth visiting the dragons Lair and the monastery Moni Panagias Mauriotissas
It is such a picturesque lake, sourrounded by high mountains. It realy worths to go walking by the lake's shore in the city of Kastoria, or even do the whole circle of the ake with bicycle or a car.
Very beautiful place to visit.Nice view and good shops around to shop , to drink coffee and to eat something. A place that everybody has to visit.
One of the reasons Kastoria is so special!
A great place to visit and enjoy nature. There are many cafes, and restaurants along its shores to enjoy the view. You can also drive along to a significant part of its shoreline. Famous route for jogging, walking, exercising as well as fishing. Best visit at warm periods (may~august) or even autumn to have an amazing experience.
Beautiful. In winter the lake can freeze and people can walk on it. There are swans and other birds living in it. Lovely scenery and reflections in the water.

Maybe it's not the biggest cave in Greece but surely is the most attractive one, since the scenery completely changes all the time. It includes 7 lakes too. The presentation is wonderfull with recorded tour, nice lighting and a safe route to visit. Totally worth it
I've been to several caves in my travels and this may be the very best. It's well laid out, easily accessible, well illuminated and the formations are close enough to the path that you can fully appreciate their beauty. Tip: Rent a bike and make this stop part of your trip around the peninsula. The terrain is flat and it's a beautiful, quiet and peaceful trip that's easily completed within a couple of hours, including stops. Perfect for relatively inexperienced cyclists.
Great place to visit. A luxury tour where we were the only ones in a cave listening to the guide from the speakers in our native language. The cave isn't big but it's totally worth it. Definitely recommend for a visit. Thank you for a wonderful hospitality!
Took about 20 or so minutes to go through the cave system. Everything was paved with concrete real well and easy to navigate. There are some steps in it and some areas are slippery with some moisture but nothing serious. Our tour was self guided as they graciously played an audio recording throughout the cave in English so we could understand the areas and the history of the cave. We were grateful they did this for people that only spoke English. The areas were all very interesting and unique in their own way. Some had water, some had more stalagmites/stalagtites than others and some had larger open areas. Very unique place to visit while up in Kastoria. Such a beautiful area!
Interesting cave. You can take a taxi going here or just walk if its a good day. One of the highlights when visiting Kastoria. It takes about 20 minutes to explore inside the cave. Very well lit and safe. They play the audio guide in different languages. Just let them know which language you prefer.
Wonderful experience. Quite long. Amazing atmosphere. Well organized.Different labirents. Well lighted. But take a strong electric torch 🔦 with you if possible. Go there by walking. The road is mesmerising also.
This was a great place to visit, the formations in the cave were beautiful. It was informative too, and you get to learn about the cave through a speaker as you walk through. You do get a limited time however, around 15 minutes before you get hurried along. I think this was good though as it's not too busy when you are in there. Would recommend when in Kastoria.
Great cave, nicely located outside Kastoria, just by the lake. A nearby cafe. The cave itself is very nice, still active stalectites!! Entrance only 6 euros, there is a guided vocal naration inside. Very recommended.

Great little place to visit when passing. Just a small chapel. With wall art done many moons ago of the Saint.
A nice stop when biking around the peninsula. Peaceful.
A place of quiet wonder for every faithful soul. Gently resting on the edge of the lake, the monastery invites not just a visit, but a moment of spiritual connection and reflection.
A beautiful byzantine church, with old paintings on the walls. It's amazing how they have managed to survive for all these years. The location is very serene, next to the beautiful lake Orestiada.
Wow, amazing frescoes!! Nicely located by the lake, less than 1km from the dragons cave. Highly recommended due to multiple ancient frescoes. Also, the road itself around the lake is tranquile and worth driving. Please note they close at 13:00...
For those of you who are or are not religious, a very nice find. Very picturesque
One of the most amazing, stunning and breathtaking byzantine church/monastery of all time. Inside the temple a person can witness a large variety of murals from saints and their story. Just looking at those pretty rare wall paintings make you wanna burst into tears. Although the atmosphere is hefty through natural declines of time , it is preserved in a very good condition by locals. There is also a gift shop and a cafeteria nearby with low prices and a exquisite lake view.
Amazing Byzantine monastery and church with stunning frescoes. One of the few Byzantine monuments that can be easily visited in Kastoria

A worthy experience if you visit the lovely city of Kastoria. There are plenty of species to see and learn about them
Very nice place, well-put, a bit dark inside, though.
A small little aquarium but very nice to spend time with kids, the ladies that works there are very friendly.
The biggest fresh water aquarium in the Balcans, with a great variety of species, some of them endemic. The guide is very friendly and knowledgeable. The visit shouldn't last more than an hour, depending on how much you want to read up on your own after the guided tour.
Very cheap entrance... unfortunately you can't touch or feed the fish but it's very family friendly
I love aquariums, so I enjoyed my brief visit here, but it really is pretty sparse. Some of the fish are interesting, others less so, and the tanks seemed pretty basic and a bit cloudy. A good rainy day activity, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.
What a beautiful idea to exhibit river and lake fishes! Nice building, friendly personnel, beautiful environment. Glad to be here!!!
The aquarium is definitely worth visiting and learn about the local fish species and much more.

The Wax Museum of Folklore in Mavrochori, Kastoria is the embodiment of an idea conceived 27 years ago by the teacher Dimitris Panagiotidis together with his wife Fani Theocharis. Finally, the couple's dream came true in 2009: in two buildings of local architecture, scenes of the daily life of Greek people are presented, reviving customs and traditions nationwide. Really interesting and worths a visit.
(Translated by Google) Truly a fantastic experience! Mrs. Fani and Mr. Dimitris have done a great job, with incredible effort over many years and at great cost! When someone is passionate about something, they achieve it no matter how many years it takes...and this Museum is the ultimate example of that. (Translated by Google) Good work that was definitely done with a lot of love. You can see objects and tools that remind us of our childhoods in our fifties. The downside is that it is a maisonette that is being operated as a museum on an amateur level and a significant part of its value is being lost. A wonderful space with nice atmosphere great relaxing music, polite service, and incredible burgers. I think I may be raving about their Local Spicy Burger for a while!
Too much fuzz for nothing. The location is very nice. There is a big square outside the building. There is a cafe , a souvenir shop a bag shop and a food shop inside the building. The atmosphere looks too posh and pretentious. The music was radio music. The staff (a blonde girl) wasn't smiling and wasn' friendly. She was just typical. I had a mountain tea which cost 3.50€ which I found expensive for a cup of hot water, not even a teapot. The snack which accompanied the tea was a plastic unhealthy sweet, full of colours, sugar and carmine. I really don't understand why they promote such unhealthy snacks instead of a homemade cookie. Definitely not worth. There are plenty coffee shops in front of the lake with amazing view.
I consider myself a strict café-bistro judge and this place has lived up to my expectations. Far away from the promanade's touristic, though fantastic, attractions this art café is run by professionals at all levels. The coffee, the sweets, the souvenirs' room, the cosy atmosphere make it a must-visit when in town! There is place to sit outside, too.
A fairly interesting spot for desserts and pastries, offering a wide variety of sweets and drinks. Indeed! I haven’t tried the regular meals (snack-like for the most) or other non-sweet dishes, but the pastries — well-crafted, and served in a setting that invites you to linger — are a real pleasure eg the galaktoboureko or cheese cakes !Good seated pastry places are rare, and this one is certainlyworth the stop. Prices upper middle class :-)
We have been here twice, the second time because the first time was great. I had a tiramisu with pistache. Great surprise! Second time I had a Apple French toast, also great. All food is home made according to the owner and there is also a small shop in the building. Personeel is friendly and have a real interest in the customer.
A beautiful little cafe/restaurant that also serves as a gift shop in the middle of Doltso square. Apart from the souvenirs, you can buy a great variety of local products here like furs, beans, mushroom products and traditional sweets and pastas. The owner is very friendly and polite, has a wide knowledge of the area and its products and was even kind enough to send everything we bought to his other store (that was closer to our hotel) so that we wouldn't have to carry it during our walk in Kastoria. Definitely visit this for a coffee or for your shopping!
Don't expect an "authentic" little eatery, as it is primarily a wine bar/gift shop playing cheesy music. There are several interesting and tasty regional dishes, however. We were quite happy with our meal and the service was friendly and professional.
What a lovely place to have breakfast or brunch! There is a variety of pancakes that you can choose from and also there is a menu for kids. We ordered the pancakes with bananas and syrup, one pancake with cherries and biscuits. If you are more hungry you can order a burger which is quite big and will fill your stomach

Definitely worth visiting. Very interesting to see how people used to live. And how their life was influenced by ottomans. I wish the government took better care of the building.
A private initiative museum based in a very nicely restored upper class mansion of the 18th century. Worth visiting as it depicts Kastoria’s glorious past; moreover, it’s the only way to support founders’ effort as the state gives no subsidy!!
What a lovely little gen, nestled away in the old back streets of the old town. With a lovely lady to tell you about the other times and history of the house and we used to live. For a few euros a very please half hour spent in this very old house. With original doors. Art work on the walls and doors from 100s of years back. A well worth the money and time spent here. Would highly recommend this a must do visit in this small town. And should be the one museum must see.
Very unique and informative! The lady curator will take you around personally and explain everything. The original furnishings and incredibly detailed wall paintings are exquisite.
Fabulous old fur house. Lovely staff and great information! Highly recommended.
Wonderful practical history lesson. A great way to learn how the rich people of the area lived in the past and what luxury actually meant at that time compared to what it means today. Definitely worth paying a visit!
I usually find folklore museums a little repetitive, but this one was very unique. There are many different rooms, rich with decorations and wall painting. The guide is very friendly and knowledgeable. If you enter and don't see her, she will probably be upstairs, as this is where her office is.
It's not a typical museum. It's a house left as it was by the time it was first built with many items of that period giving the opportunity to the guest of having an idea how was real daily life in Kastoria many years ago. It' s small so it doesn't take a lot of time to see and the ticket is only 2.00€ so I believe it's worth having a visit.

A beautiful post-byzantine church of interesting architecture at the centre of Kastoria. A little hard to walk there on foot as it is uphill, but definitely worth it! There are some byzantine walls nearby as well.
Kastoria has multiple Byzantine churches, and this is one of the most beautiful ones. Located in a residence neighbourhood in town center, it has an adjucent parking lot. The bulding is nicely preserved including someoutdoor frescoes. There is another nearby church some 100m apart Unfortunately, the church itself is closed an the interior cannot be seen from the outside.
Small church, located on top of the hill. We could not see it inside, but from the outside it looked pretty unpreserved. It has a large yard space, so the kids had some fun with their bikes:) the area was super quiet. Be mindful if you are walking from the bay to here there are lots of stairs to go up to get here.
A small but very old church, located on the hill of the old town of Kastoria. One of all 72 churches in the city.
Maravellous frescoes!

(Translated by Google) Very nice temple, the trademark of the city of Kastoria. It was built in 1020 AD. X in the acropolis of Kastoria next to the two towers of the Byzantine Castle, a small part of which is preserved to this day. It is dedicated to Panagia and the original name was Skoutariotisa or Invincible. The name kumbelidiki was derived from the Turkish word kumbes meaning dome. The first part of the Church as you enter has hagiographies from the 15th century. Because it had suffered destruction and was repaired, while from the middle to the sanctuary it has the original hagiographies of the beginning of the 11th century. In the Church there is also a rare for the Orthodox Church an icon of the Holy Trinity with a depiction of all the faces.
(Translated by Google) Church of Panagia Koumbelidiki. On the acropolis of the Byzantine castle of Kastoria, very close to the wall, stands one of the most important Byzantine monuments in Macedonia, Panagia Koumbelidiki (mid-9th century-early 11th century), as it is known today. The church was bombed in 1940 during the Greco-Italian War, and then lost most of its dome, which was restored in 1949. Its name comes from the word “koumbes”, which means dome, and was created during the Turkish occupation, to indicate the main feature of the church, which is the only one with a dome in Kastoria. Its Byzantine name was probably Panagia Skoutariotissa and Akatamachitos, epithets that befit the Virgin Mary's status as the protector of the walls and are found in an inscription on the crown of the dome. The church was built in the form of a three-nave cruciform with a dome and a narthex. Its isostructural masonry is decorated with toothed bands and ceramic letters on the vertical joints or on a frieze, a characteristic element for the monuments of Kastoria. The dome has a tall and cylindrical drum, decorated with glazed abaci, which develop in three zones, and with ceramic letters. In its largest part, the main church and the inner narthex preserve very good quality decoration, dating from the period 1260-1280. In later renovations, newer frescoes were added to various parts of the church.

A unique thematic museum of icons, its collections are mainly composed of portable religious paintings of the Byzantine and post-Byzantine periods🙏⛪️🇬🇷
A museum full of beautiful gilded iconostases. A staff member can take you to visit two local churches and unlock them.
A very well curated museums with Bysantine and post-Bysantines paintings that have been rescued and restaurés beautifully. Entrance ticket includes a wonderful visit to a few Bysantine churches with a wonderful guide who loves his town and history. Well worth a visit.
A very rich museum with unique and old exhibits of the Byzantine Orthodox art. It is presented in a very nice way too. Really worthy to see if you visit the city
An impressive collection of Byzantine art, mostly of ecclesiastical content, wonderfully presented and well ordered in a comprehensive chronological manner. Not a lengthy nor a tiring visit to have a glimpse at the art of an empire that endured for 11 centuries
A recently renovated visitor-friendly museum exhibiting mostly panel icons and sanctuary doors from Byzantine and post-Byzantine period from the area of Kastoria. Very clean place and well taken care. Congratulations for the great work! (Entrance 4€)
Nice museum but in my opinion it is overpriced (10 euro per person). The exhibition is not very big/diverse. Most of the pieces are heavily restored. Also, we were alone in the museum and an employee followed our very step in a way that made us feel very uncomfortable.
This classy, nicely laid out collection of Byzantine iconostases, while a bit pricey (10 euros a pop at this writing), is well worth a visit. Kastoria's many Byzantine churches are always locked, but if you come to the museum at noon or later you can ask a staff member to let you into two of them.

Very nice church especially during night time.

(Translated by Google) The oldest temple, in relation to the others that exist in Kastoria. Beautiful, a gem, but how sad not to be able to see the inside. There should be opening hours, or some notice that you have to contact someone to open it up to see the inside. So anyone who wishes to see him inside, should contact the museum, as we also read from a comment, but unfortunately a bit late.

It is located between the traditional districts of Apozari and Doltsos, on the road to Prophet Ilias and Vunou Kastoria. It is a three-aisled vaulted basilica with a raised central nave and windows that form a skylight. It has the classic mid-Byzantine masonry of Kastoria with stones in natural shape or roughly hewn. While forming decorative letters and shapes. To the west there is a two-story narthex and women's corner where a small chapel of Agia Anna is housed, the so-called asektario. Its frescoes date from the 9th to the 14th century. The temple can be visited after consultation with the guards of the Byzantine Museum of Kastoria every day except Monday from 08:00 to 15:00. By far our favorite museum from our visit to Kastoria. My wife and I happened upon it walking back into the city from lake Orestiada and noticed it was closed but with a cell phone number we could call for an appointment. We gave it a shot and called; Nektarios answered, one of the curators, and in what seemed like 5 minutes was there and excited to give us a personal tour! This 1750 mansion stands out from the rest with its thoughtful craftsmanship, attention to detail, and resourcefulness. The museum inside is run and curated by the musicologist society "Armonia" made up of locals like Nektarios who gave us the best experience we could have asked for; accommodating to language barriers, deep knowledge regarding the craftsmanship and history of the exhibits, and achieving that sense of time travel and connection to the people that crafted, treasured, and passed down these amazing works of art. 100% worth checking out.
(Translated by Google) Wonderful and rare museum that has been created with the care and attention of the Kastoria Musicological Association Armonia. Two very kind gentlemen informed us about this very honorable endeavor and the history of the mansion and the castor. It has excellent costumes for women as well as men and children. A visit is required and recommended.

The PCs and customer service is 10/10, need to take care of the peripherals though.. a lot of buttons on the keyboards won't work and a few headsets have issues.
I went to play and after 3 computers one refused to turn on. Staff is nice snd friendly but hardware sucks a bit. It will do the job anyways
Delicious pancake and waffle. Only problem was the inordinate wait for the waffle. No explanation given. I have now received an explanation, on this forum. Thank you for taking the time to explain. Perhaps your staff should consider advising visitors (was our first visit to your beautiful part of the world) of a waiting time. With thanks
me: is it possible to see the Serie A match? Someone behind the bar:YES And after 10 minutes (when arrived another client) he come to me to say: I’m sorry we can show just Premier league match .. Coherent and great behaviour
