I've been to several caves in my travels and this may be the very best. It's well laid out, easily accessible, well illuminated and the formations are close enough to the path that you can fully appreciate their beauty. Tip: Rent a bike and make this stop part of your trip around the peninsula. The terrain is flat and it's a beautiful, quiet and peaceful trip that's easily completed within a couple of hours, including stops. Perfect for relatively inexperienced cyclists.

Great place to visit. A luxury tour where we were the only ones in a cave listening to the guide from the speakers in our native language. The cave isn't big but it's totally worth it. Definitely recommend for a visit. Thank you for a wonderful hospitality!

Took about 20 or so minutes to go through the cave system. Everything was paved with concrete real well and easy to navigate. There are some steps in it and some areas are slippery with some moisture but nothing serious. Our tour was self guided as they graciously played an audio recording throughout the cave in English so we could understand the areas and the history of the cave. We were grateful they did this for people that only spoke English. The areas were all very interesting and unique in their own way. Some had water, some had more stalagmites/stalagtites than others and some had larger open areas. Very unique place to visit while up in Kastoria. Such a beautiful area!

Interesting cave. You can take a taxi going here or just walk if its a good day. One of the highlights when visiting Kastoria. It takes about 20 minutes to explore inside the cave. Very well lit and safe. They play the audio guide in different languages. Just let them know which language you prefer.

Wonderful experience. Quite long. Amazing atmosphere. Well organized.Different labirents. Well lighted. But take a strong electric torch 🔦 with you if possible. Go there by walking. The road is mesmerising also.

This was a great place to visit, the formations in the cave were beautiful. It was informative too, and you get to learn about the cave through a speaker as you walk through. You do get a limited time however, around 15 minutes before you get hurried along. I think this was good though as it's not too busy when you are in there. Would recommend when in Kastoria.

Wow, amazing frescoes!! Nicely located by the lake, less than 1km from the dragons cave. Highly recommended due to multiple ancient frescoes. Also, the road itself around the lake is tranquile and worth driving. Please note they close at 13:00...

One of the most amazing,stunning and breathtaking byzantine church/monastery of all time. Inside the temple a person can witness a large variety of murals from saints and their story. Just looking at those pretty rare wall paintings make you wanna burst into tears. Although the atmosphere is hefty through natural declines of time , it is preserved in a very good condition by locals. There is also a gift shop and a cafeteria nearby with low prices and a exquisite lake view.

A private initiative museum based in a very nicely restored upper class mansion of the 18th century. Worth visiting as it depicts Kastoria’s glorious past; moreover, it’s the only way to support founders’ effort as the state gives no subsidy!!

What a lovely little gen, nestled away in the old back streets of the old town. With a lovely lady to tell you about the other times and history of the house and we used to live. For a few euros a very please half hour spent in this very old house. With original doors. Art work on the walls and doors from 100s of years back. A well worth the money and time spent here. Would highly recommend this a must do visit in this small town. And should be the one museum must see.

A series of well-preserved rooms in an old house,  depicting how the Kastorian people lived about a hundred years ago. The rooms were interesting enough, but the narration was a bit odd, with an older woman dashing from group to group delivering brief, canned spiels about each display. Overall a nice stop if you are nearby, but not a must.

I usually find folklore museums a little repetitive, but this one was very unique. There are many different rooms, rich with decorations and wall painting. The guide is very friendly and knowledgeable. If you enter and don't see her, she will probably be upstairs, as this is where her office is.

Regarding food each plate was apparently made with fresh ingredients and cooked to the point. Except for a minor salt imbalance the whole course was amazing. Lastly the staff was really accommodating, coordinated and polite.

We had an excellent experience at Παλιά Πόλη! We ate delicious food including some local variants such as the cabbage rolls with rice and kima. They were absolutely delicious as was everything. The Kastoria red wine was lovely, as was the crano liqueur. The wifi worked well. The decor inviting and the service top notch! I hope I get the opportunity to go again before we leave Kastoria.

The food here is both tasty and interesting. We had three dishes and loved every one of them. I especially recommend the fried mushrooms with garlic sauce. The courtyard was attractive, across the street from the lake, but still with a nice view of the water. The waiter was friendly and entertaining and gave us free dessert at the end.

Old Town is a really nice Cody restaurant in the Old Town 😂. The food was really good and the value for money is great. We ordered two meat dishes, two starters and 4 glasses of wine and we paid 30 euro! They loose one star for the service. We we the only ones sitting inside and they were really late to see us and take orders and payment

It’s a nice friendly cafe selling a good selection of drinks. I had retsina wine and had a choice of three kinds. Food is classic Greek with a choice of numerous salads, meats and fish. Th er location is good too to watch the world go by in slow Greek motion to the backdrop of moody Greek music.

Everything was, the food was nice, even though the portions were small for the value. The setting next to the lake was amazing. What I didn't like is that they pretend their credit card device is not working and they don't give a proper receipt.

Disappointed by the flavors. The sardines were overcooked , we fed the most to the cats. The waiters were not so familiar with the menu. The restaurant worth only for the lake view.

This restaurant is worth a visit to Kastoria. All dishes are prepared with regional and fresh ingredients. We ate inside on sunday afternoon, it was busy, all the tables outside were taken. Food was very good, liver was nice, just add some more Spice pepper missing. Chicken souvlaki was tasty and juicy. Service was quick and poltetaan.

I was there early autumn '21. Entry only to vaccinated people. Was lucky enough the weather was good and we sat outside. Our appetizers was tomato balls, cheese balls, stuffed "florinis" (red pepper), grilled "batzos" cheese. Our lunch was 2×"kotsi", a handmade stuffed burger, a pork steak and a "psaronefri" fillet. Also we had some soft drinks. Prices was some bit expensive... 73€ (for us 5). The quality was good, but not anything gourmet or special. Good tasty but for the price range I had taste better food elsewhere. The lake view is relaxing. We where happy staying there but without extreme feeling about it.

The only reason that this review isn't on one star is because the meat was decent. That's where the positives end. The fries were beyond terrible. The service was outrageous. We didn't get menus or even water for over 30 minutes and after ordering we got our food exactly an hour and thirty minutes after. We didn't get any water after asking multiple times until we got food. The only thing the staff had to say is that we happened to be there on a "change of shift". Although I doubt that they changed the entire shift at 3 pm sacrificing their service for the most crucial hour of the day. Other tables around us had similar issues with an entire table of 8 next to us straight up leaving since they didn't get served for over 30 minutes and another one begging for the bill for an entire hour.

This restaurant was recommended by a taxi driver and everything we ordered was excellent. Highly recommend. The bread is very good. Well worth a visit.

Kastoria has multiple Byzantine churches, and this is one of the most beautiful ones. Located in a residence neighbourhood in town center, it has an adjucent parking lot. The bulding is nicely preserved including someoutdoor frescoes. There is another nearby church some 100m apart Unfortunately, the church itself is closed an the interior cannot be seen from the outside.

Small church, located on top of the hill. We could not see it inside, but from the outside it looked pretty unpreserved. It has a large yard space, so the kids had some fun with their bikes:) the area was super quiet. Be mindful if you are walking from the bay to here there are lots of stairs to go up to get here.

The biggest fresh water aquarium in the Balcans, with a great variety of species, some of them endemic. The guide is very friendly and knowledgeable. The visit shouldn't last more than an hour, depending on how much you want to read up on your own after the guided tour.

Nice museum but in my opinion it is overpriced (10 euro per person). The exhibition is not very big/diverse. Most of the pieces are heavily restored. Also, we were alone in the museum and an employee followed our very step in a way that made us feel very uncomfortable.

This classy, nicely laid out collection of Byzantine iconostases, while a bit pricey (10 euros a pop at this writing), is well worth a visit. Kastoria's many Byzantine churches are always locked, but if you come to the museum at noon or later you can ask a staff member to let you into two of them.

Too much fuzz for nothing. The location is very nice. There is a big square outside the building. There is a cafe , a souvenir shop a bag shop and a food shop inside the building. The atmosphere looks too posh and pretentious. The music was radio music. The staff (a blonde girl) wasn't smiling and wasn' friendly. She was just typical. I had a mountain tea which cost 3.50€ which I found expensive for a cup of hot water, not even a teapot. The snack which accompanied the tea was a plastic unhealthy sweet, full of colours, sugar and carmine. I really don't understand why they promote such unhealthy snacks instead of a homemade cookie. Definitely not worth. There are plenty coffee shops in front of the lake with amazing view.

Far away from the promanade's touristic, though fantastic, attractions this art café is run by professionals at all levels. The coffee, the sweets, the souvenirs' room, the cosy atmosphere make it a must-visit when in town! There is place to sit outside, too.

Duck is our favourite place in Kastoria.We love the food and the view next to the lake.We highly recommend it,we have been here 5 times already-every time we come to kastoria🍕.

Loved sitting out side on a warm summers night over viewing the lake, food was great well presented for delicious with local wine to boot. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing with some gentle music playing in the back ground.

We took the pasta alfreddo and pesto burger, and both were very good, good taste and quality, with very good prices, will definitely visit again.

The worst experience in 10 day trip to Greece. We were couple. We ordered a big mixed grill plate with pork ribs, kebab, sausage and two types of chicken. All the meats were overcooked and dry. We complained about it and the waiter just said we didn't asked for degree of cooking and just went away witout even say that they are sorry. The salad was OK. Finally they charged for the full price and even didn't offer desert as on all the other restaurants they did. We ate less than a quarter of the food and we took the rest in a dogy bag - there are many hungry dogs on the roads on northern Greece. Pitty that this was our last meal in Greece.
