Pretty cool place! PEN20 per person for non-Peruvians. There are showers and changing rooms, and there is a counter where you can store your valuables for free. There are staff walking around and they are super helpful. The changing rooms and the bathrooms are also pretty clean. It’s a quick 15-minute walk from the town. There are stores along the streets where you can rent towels and swim suits.
The town may be called Aguas Calientes (hot waters),  but the water is tepid at best. I might just be a little bitter because someone took my hat after I forgot it on a peg in one of the dressing rooms. The setting of the baths are second to none. Think towering, forest-covered mountains and an impressive view down the valley. I do feel, however, that the baths would have been way more appropriate for the setting if they used the plentiful natural stone to build a bath-complex that fits with the ruins everyone is so eager to see. That being said, the small pools are easier to clean. This is essential, since every night they drain and scrub the baths for the next day. It was not the the most hygienic setup by the time we arrived in the late afternoon. And it made me miss the meticulous, clean onsen culture in Japan.
The water is dirty. It looks grey. It’s a hike up for nothing. I don’t even want to get into the water. The hottest pool is 37 degree and has most people. The coldest is 14 degree. It has no people and the water is the clearest. They have changing room but no towel or hot water for shower. Wouldn’t want to come back again. 20 soles for international. Cash only.
This is the perfect spot to relax after a day of hiking around Machu Picchu. There are several pools at different temperatures, so you can move between them until you find your favorite. The atmosphere is laid-back and friendly — it’s easy to chat with other travelers or even locals enjoying the soak. While the facilities are a little rustic, they have everything you need, including changing rooms and a reception where staff will help keep an eye on your belongings. Overall, it’s a unique and enjoyable experience that adds to the charm of visiting the town. Tip: bring sandals and a towel to make your visit more comfortable.
I love anything to do with water and I would not go back here. Felt really musty, and I could not get over the smell. Theres suspicious particles in the water. Bring your own towels of course. Changing rooms were clean!
This is a nice place to visit if you have some free time. It's about a 15 minute walk from the city. Don't expect a Japanese or Nortic style hot springs. The water has minerals and has a smell. It's not unclean but it's natural water. A lot of water that comes directly from the earth has a tint to it. It only costs $5 to get in. Bring your swimsuit and a towel. There are changing rooms and a bag check. The water is in the 90s F. There are several pools of different temperatures. But really this place is about the view. It can't be beat. It started getting busy around 5pm.
It's very busy. Make sure to get your ticket at the gate. If there's nobody there, you gotta wait for them. If you miss the ticket lady, you have to go all the way back down to buy one. The Entrance lady was very considerate. She let us pay at the entrance to the pools instead of sending us back down.
Good water but not so warm. The worst is unfriendly staff, they say you can only stay 1 hour, while it is not specified anywhere and call the police to kick you out. 20 soles for an hour is rip off. We enjoyed several hot spring in Peru, all very nice but this one is to be avoided.

One of the most lively squares close to machu pictures. Entrance, it is surrounded by beautiful mountains. Small Queen shops, Chapel cathedral...cultural centre. Where you get tickets to machu picchu. And a number of massage parlours.charging about 25 dollars per hour basic..Which one should make Use. .They ..Are very useful after coming back from the trek. This square has lot of sitting benches, a small fountain and great place to enjoy a relaxed evening with music playing all around most lively square.
Beautiful scenery with beautiful plenty of places to shop and dine. My son and I visited the Manco Capac Square while in town to hike Machu Picchu, everyone is super friendly and very helpful. Will definitely be visiting again.
There are friendly dogs and children hanging out at this square. There is a church beside where a lot of the locals gather. Lively square both in the day time and at night. Nice place to stroll or sit down and observe. The streets toward and from this square are well lit, and lined with shops and restaurants.
Aguas Caliente is underrated. People just go there as gateway to Machu Picchu but this village is just so cool and relaxing. You can chill a d unwind here for a few days and enjoy it. I've only spent 2 nights as I had bought the ticket back already before getting there. If I could I would have spent at least 2 more days to absorb the local vibes
Amazing Square center of the city. Excellent feeling to seat down and enjoy it!
The square lies in the heart of Aguas Calientes, in the Urubamba Province, Cusco Region. It is named after Manco Cápac, the mythic first Sapa Inca or founder figure of the Inca civilization. As the town’s central gathering point, it serves both locals and tourists — especially those visiting Machu Picchu. It's surrounded with lost of restaurants

Birdwatching in Aguas Calientes: Andean Cock-of-the-Rock We had done a 4-day Inca Trail Trek and stayed in Aguas Calientes for an extra day with limited time for birdwatching. We decided to go to Mandor Gardens and this was a great decision! The walk along the train track took about 90 mins with lots of bird species on the way. At the gardens we paid 40 soles entry for 2 people and proceeded up the trail for 20 mins where we'd been told Andean Cock-of-the-Rock is seen or heard daily. We got great views of one individual male, saw one other and heard several more. If you're in Aguas Calientes and want to see Andean Cock-of-the-Rock I highly recommend this place. As well as the lovely quiet trails, the veranda by the cafe had four hummingbird feeders where we saw another four different species of hummingbird (Long tailed Sylph, Chestnut-breasted coronet, White-bellied Woodstar, and Bronzy Inca). Great place for birdwatching, highly recommend asking the friendly staff for sighting tips.
We visited Mandor as part of our stay in Aguas Calientes, and it was a wonderful experience. From our hotel near the train station, we walked along the railway tracks to reach the entrance. While it might sound unusual, it actually feels quite safe. The trains are loud enough to hear well in advance, and along the way there are small cafés and stalls where you can grab snacks or drinks. The entrance ticket costs 20 soles per person. At the ticket booth, we enjoyed a nice coffee, and Erwin, who works there, kindly shared the story of how his mother created the place. Inside, you can easily spend 2.5 to 3 hours exploring. There are two main trails: one leading to the waterfalls, and another to a viewpoint where you get to see a completely different face of Machu Picchu. The view is absolutely stunning and not to be missed! On top of that, the wildlife made the visit even more special. We spotted different kinds of butterflies 🦋, a variety of birds, and even a black tayra 🥹. Overall, Mandor is peaceful, scenic, and full of natural beauty a perfect complement to the bustle of Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu itself. Highly recommended.
This was a lovely hike near the town of Auguas Caliente. Once you walk out of town, follow the path that’ll lead you on a train track. There are loads of signs so you can’t miss it. The train track is safe as you’ll hear the trains far before you can see it. Plus they are moving very slowly. It’s about a 30-40 min walk (approximately 1.5 miles) to get to the destination itself. Once you get there, there’ll be a cafe who will provide you with information and grant access to the trail. It is 20 soles pp. the hike has 2 trails, one that is mainly uphill to a viewpoint where you can see Machu Picchu. This trail is bit extensive but nothing too hard. A lot of woods and trees so bring some bug spray. If you forget, the store has small packets you can purchase. It’ll take about an hour or so to do this path. The second path is to the waterfall. The waterfall is amazing. It’s about another 20-30 min but very easy walk. PS. If you’re lucky, you might get a guide dog who’ll pop out of nowhere to join your hike. They’re super friendly and cute.
We had a wonderful time on this scenic hike. Having a mixup with our Machu Picchu tickets, we were stuck in Aguas Calientes for a few days, and we wanted to make the most of it. On our second day we decided to hike to Mandor to see the falls The hike is about 1.5hr outside of Aguas Calientes. You will follow the river out of town. Be careful as there are many buses racing by. And then the majority of the hike is along an active railway, so again, be careful The views are stunning and you can actually see part of the Machu Picchu citadel on the walk You will pay about 20s per person at Mandor. You will need to fill out a log, and you will need your passport information for this. There’s a little cafe, and you will be escorted to the gate of the trailhead Once through the gate it’s only about a mile to the falls. And there is a fork in the hike where you can actually go up into the jungle to get a view of Machu Picchu. This is a little less than a mile of a hike, but it is straight up and through a humid jungle. The views at the end of both hikes are spectacular If you get the chance, stop at either the Empanada cafe (Quinoa Snack Bar), or the Refugio. The Snack Bar has fresh delicious empanadas, and the Refugio is a vibe. The owner is a lot of fun, there’s great views, tasty food, cold drinks, great music, and a relaxing ambiance
Hiking along the train tracks to Mandor was so much fun. There were restaurants along the way, right by the tracks. When we arrived in Mandor, it cost S/20 to access the waterfalls.
I loved this place, it was so peaceful and relaxing and I could connect with the nature around
If you have a spare day then I highly recommend this walk along the railway, lovely hike through the rainforest to a spectacular view of Machu Picchu. The waterfall nothing spectacular but good for a dip to cool off. Delicious food and watch the hummingbird when you eat. Walking home around 4 pm, so much bird song and even saw a cock of the rock bird near the pizza bar about half way home. Had a beer and lovely cheesy fried bread at one of the shacks on the way back.
Saw 4 total cock of the rock birds! The waterfall is beautiful. Difficult to get to as you've got to walk down train tracks for a bit, but when you get to the hostel and coffee shop you've arrived. Grab some coffee - they pick it themselves, and it's also where you pay the entrance fee.

Great Food at Reasonable Prices Located on the second floor of the market, this spot offers freshly cooked meals at very reasonable prices—dishes range from 10 to 25 soles. Compared to the more expensive restaurants in Aguas Calientes, the food here is both tasty and generous in portion. They prepare everything on the spot, and there’s a wide variety of dishes to choose from. A great find if you’re looking for good value and authentic flavor!
Vegan: only juices, without milk (sin leche) and avocado sandwich. Vegetarian: Example of vegetarian sandwiches: cheese, avocado, egg, combination of those, etc (queso palta huevo) I got an avocado sandwich, egg sandwich, and mango juice without milk without sugar for 16 soles total. It was good and fresh, made in front of me. Inexpensive, but nothing else here is pure veg.
An affordable place to eat at Aguas Calientes. Good location just few minutes walk from the square. The test is so Peruvian original with locals who came to eat here. Good taste and clean. Eat here almost every day we were there.
Go upstairs to the second floor for food and drinks. A really affordable option. A real oasis when it comes to the higher prices everywhere else! The food is pretty good. Can get a deal for a bowl of soup and a main for 12SOL, and decent portions.
Came here twice for breakfast and lunch to save $ and feel the local market. Chocolate con quinoa at cafeteria ahijado, s /3, interesting to try. Menu del dia lunch, chicken rice, soup, drink , s/12. Very affordable compared to other restaurants, recommend to try something here!
Please AVOID This store. This lady took our money and refuse to admit it. We call rhe police and she was still lying. Other local people were helping her lying.
The place is the best value for local food. Given the number of overpriced tourist traps in the area, it was great to eat a reasonably priced local meal
If you get tiered of the overpriced tourist food, this is where the locals eat. Authentic Peruvian food, yummy and not overpriced. Take the stairs up to the upper levelnto find the food court.

We had very good experience! Large, many butterflies that are all around you. They also have a research center you can visit and see the stages of development of the bufferflies. Lastly, the Empanadas at the cafeteria were very, very good (we tried the beef). Ones of the best we've had
It is an interesting and peaceful place to visit away from the tourist mess that is Aguas Calientes. The tour was interesting and we were able to gently coax an owl butterfly onto our fingers. They also have orchids but we were there at the wrong time of year. The cafe is lovely, open to the river below with beautiful birds coming in to feed on fruit. The staff is terrific. Tours in Spanish and Englush.
We loved our visit to the Mariposario! 🌿 First, we stopped by the coffee place where we could spot so many different types of birds, their beautiful colors and songs made it such a magical start to the experience. Then, we had a very nice introduction and explanation about butterflies, which was both informative and easy to follow. We even got to intersect with some butterflies up close, which was truly wonderful. 🦋 Overall, it was a unique and memorable experience. ✨ Just a tip: if you pay by card, they do charge a 5% extra fee.
This is a small place, but it's very interactive. You can see the caterpillars munching on leaves outside of jars, and they have a huge variety of cocoons to see. In the butterfly house, many of them are rather friendly and will step on your hand. The tour only takes about 20 minutes but you may spend more time taking photos of butterflies.
A very good place to learn about local butterfly. For 20sol per person you get an English guide who will explain all about butterflies, took you to the labs and let yu enjoy the rainforest atmosphere where lots of butterflies.
Marvelous learning opportunity and visual delight via the English and Spanish language tours. You'll see living caterpillars and butterflies in all stages of their life cycle plus see them flying around and eating.
A rather idyllic place meant to raise awareness for preservation of life in the neighbourhood. It has a nice little cafe where you can watch birds and read about them (or orchids).
A quick 15-minute tour for 20 soles will be totally worth it. You see live specimens in all of their stages. Most of them are indigenous to the machu picchu area and the peruvian jungle. It's a 20-minute walk (only way to get there) from aguas calientes.

Mountain peak
Nature & Parks
Round-shaped mountain popular for challenging climbs & views of Machu Picchu & river valley.
Slide 1 of 8
This is the mountain on the other side of the valley from the famous Macu Picchu site. When you are reasonable fit you can climb this following a route with sometimes steep stairs and ropes to cling on to. Once on the top you will have, weather permitting, a wonderful view of MP.
Oct 2024: Even as a climber I cannot recommend this path in its current state (lacking ladders/rope/maintenance) The exposure at many points and the constant dampness creates very unsafe climbing conditions. It may seem like a risky but fun ascent (am guilty of this) but I can guarantee you will feel differently when it is time to descend. If you decide to try to make it to the top anyways, go well-prepared for bad slips or falls, and do not go alone. Otherwise, there is a nice view and a lot of bird activity in the milder first portion of the hike. I can't speak for the western approach. Hopefully the trail can be fixed up as it is a beautiful area.
I couldn't get to the top, it's a nice little hike to the place where the ladder seems to have been removed, not sure if there is another way up
The views are breathtaking, and you really feel connected to the people who built the beautiful and ingenious machu picchu. They could be easier to get to. 1 star
Can’t get to the top. Due to erosion and rain and no maintainence the path is lost 😞 it could be very nice trek if they cared about it but it that case locals would want your money 🤣
As people below said- It could be an amazing path up, but hasn’t been mantained for a long time. Would be great to have paths for short hike(s) around the city
Trail not maintained. Pretty sketchy in the rain. Would not recommend to do this by yourself or if you are not used to steep, slippery descents...
This trek is very nice. We were the only one who were trekking there. Unfortunately there is no ladder anymore for what reason we had to stop at the rock wall. But the walk until this was beautiful. You can snap some really nice shots there!

Quick and interesting time at the site museum. Need to present your passport at the reception before you can start your self guided museum tour. Complimentary with Machu Picchu tickets. We were instructed to not take any photographs. This museum has cool information on Machu Picchu’s discovery and introduction to the world in the early 1900s as well as plentiful information on historical context during its peak in the times of the Inca civilization.
Must visit if you go to machu picchu and want to learn more about it! It's free if you have a machu picchu ticket.
nice museum about the history of the area. free entry if you have a same day machu picchu ticket.
Very informative. A must see before entering Machu Picchu so that you know the architecture, lifestyle and construction background etc. Clear English explanation. I read everything and it took me almost one hour? Highly recommend
Cool museum providing details on the history and (whatever was involved in the) construction and discovery of Machu Picchu. There are various archaeological artefacts on display relating to such things as the afterlife, quarries, etc. Documentaries are shown on a TV somewhere halfway. The guy at the counter was very friendly.
This is the museum of the Machu Picchu excavation. Its free if you have the MP entrance tickets, but only after 12pm! We were too early so had to pay 20 soles. Interesting enough museum showing how they found Machu Picchu and how the think it was made.
Great history of Incas, its a must too ser, IF go after 12:00 PM with macchu Picchu tickets its free tô visit, there is a botanic Garden by The side free too
Nice museum to walk down to if you have time to kill in Aguas Calientes and want to learn a little about the Incan history. It's free with your Machu Picchu ticket. Right next to a little free botanical garden.

It is a beautiful church. I was blessed to be there on Palm Sunday. I followed the procession with palms to the church and mass. The parishioners made Palm Sunday so meaningful for us from Canada.
So happy to see a church at the foot of mountain before the climb to Machu Picchu. But the church needs lots of repair and work and we were hoping to hear mass that Sunday but wasn't able to hear one.
Beautiful small church. Mass times post COVID-19 updated in photo. Sunday 8:00AM and 7:00PM
It's a beautiful church open for tourists to visit.
May2023 we were able to experience an alpaca blessing ceremony in the church.

Expert guides tell the story of Jameson in a recreated distillery scene with tastings and dining.
Slide 1 of 8
It was incredible experience. Our tour guide was amazing. First you get free welcome drink - you have 3 options from Jameson (Jameson with lime and ginger is amazing). Then you go to first room, it’s about history of Jameson. Second room is about how to make Jameson and on third you learn about differences, how to smell and taste different Jamesons. With this guide, it was really amazing and I could stay longer than 45 minutes.
My wife and I took this tour on a Monday morning a few hours before our flight home and had a wonderful time. Our tour guide was very animated and obviously loved his job! Great tour through history all the way to current time. Definitely recommend this tour for any whiskey aficionados or anyone with just a taste for Jameson.
I paid about $26 for the Jameson Distillery tour and it was worth every penny. They start with a really cool 3D projector story about the history and how Jameson is made, then you move into a tasting room where you try four different Jamesons and learn how to properly smell and taste whiskey. It truly feels like a world-class experience. The premium ones were noticeably smoother (whiskey by itself definitely grows hair on your chest 😂), but it was fun, informative, and delicious. After the tasting, you get a drink included — they already have a bar set up with several cocktail options, and if you want another drink afterward you can buy more. The tour guide was incredible — funny, knowledgeable, and made it feel like he actually believed every part of the history. It was so good I found myself thinking, “Do y’all hire? I could work here too.” The staff overall was extremely friendly and helpful. They’ll even hold your bags if you’re coming straight from the airport like I was. There’s merchandise at the end if you want to shop, and the whole experience is just a lot of fun from start to finish. I would 100% come back and I’d tell anyone visiting Dublin to add this to their trip.
What an unforgettable experience at the Jameson Distillery! We opted for the Secret Whiskey Package and savored every moment. The tour was a delightful blend of history, craftsmanship, and fun, with fascinating insights into the company’s founder and the art of whiskey making. The highlight? Learning the skills of whiskey tasting, followed by a truly delicious sampling experience. Despite the bustling crowd of fellow travelers, the staff made us feel so special and welcome. We loved every minute and can’t wait to return!
Had a fantastic tasting tour on my second visit to this iconic Irish distillery. The guide’s deep knowledge and entertaining presentation made the experience memorable. It’s no wonder Jameson remains one of the world’s top selling whiskeys. Highly recommended!
Exactly everything you'd expect from a distillery tour. Great tour guide, samples of the whisky, and the best ambiance. All the employees were stellar and very nice to chat with. You can also purchase exclusive bottles you can't get anywhere else in the world.
This is one of the best distillery tour I’ve ever done! I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Dublin. Our tour guide was really informative and had a great demote of knowledge about the history of Jameson’s. I’m not usually a Whiskey drinker but after trying a Jamesons, Ginger Ale and Lime in the bar I am converted.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Jamison Distillery. I went with my husband and my daughter. It was very informative and quite interesting. There were several experiences during the tour. We tasted whiskeys that we hadn't tried before. Our new favorite one is Black Barrel. We've bought a bottle now that we're back home and have shared it with a neighbor. He is now a fan! I recommend going on this tour. It's fun, educational, and it even has a cute little shop inside.
