Would highly recommend for a day out. We had a fabulous day. All the staff were so fun and helpful. We especially appreciated Gracie's help on the high wires...and the lady who was inn charge of canoes was so fun too (didn't make a note of her name sadly). The extra activities were brilliant.. but the other section in the woods was so much fun. A huge adventure playground with lower wires,, rope swings, zip lines, fitness equipment. We will definitely be back!
We went on a day trip for the high wires (for the parents and the children - min age 8) and the canoes (for the children, me and my 80 yr old Mom). Really enjoyed these lovely grounds and the two activities. Great instructors with a really positive attitude.
By far one of the best camping sites I've been on. The facilities are great with plenty of private rooms. The playgrounds, the outdoor water activities and the BMX track are amazing and mostly free. We did bouldering indoors too. It truly is incredible and we will be back again next year!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Best Campsite Ever! We spent the weekend at Riverdart Country Park for Oktoberfest and honestly had the best time! The atmosphere was fantastic – great food made with locally sourced meat (from less than half a mile away!) and a lovely, friendly team who made everyone feel so welcome. The woodland play areas are a real highlight – perfectly maintained, full of adventure, and such a beautiful setting to sit back and watch your children play. Even the grown-ups couldn’t resist the zip lines! The camping pitches are huge, giving you loads of space to relax, and the shower facilities are spotless and well looked after. Everything about the park feels cared for and thoughtfully managed. We’d definitely recommend bringing wetsuits if you plan to get stuck into the Jolly Pirate ship or the jump pools.. Can’t wait to visit again – Riverdart Country Park really is the best campsite we’ve ever stayed at!
What a fantastic place. First time visitors and the first thing that strikes you is friendly and helpful staff. The site is huge and so many different things for our grandchildren to have hours of endless fun. We had what I would say was one of the very best full English breakfasts ever.
A country park geared to slightly older children with plenty of activities on the site. More than enough free activities included in your ticket along with the beach and water area. We went on a very wet day but none the less we got some nice hot pasties and a hot chocolates. Pay some extra and do the high ropes for example. Can’t wait to visit again.
I cannot review accommodation as we didn’t stay here but for a day out with four children aged 10,9, 6 and 3 and parents and grandparents, there was something for everyone. The basic entry ticket provides plenty of entertainment especially if it’s a warm day (unless wetsuits are worn which can be purchased there) and the freshwater swimming pool can be enjoyed. There are fantastic adventure play areas and plenty of space to run around and trees to climb. For addition costs there are other activities (the older children did the high ropes with their parents while grandparents took the younger children on the adventure play area for their age group, all children did bouldering and we rented boats too as it was too cold for us to swim). We had taken a picnic so didn’t try the food in the cafe. A fabulous day out.
We have had a amazing weekend camping trip. The facilities have so much to offer my 11 year old son enjoyed the wild swimming in the river which was a great find and loved. The amusement arcade and we had a great cooked breakfast my son is a fussy eater so lovely to see you had cereal aviliable. The staff go above and beyond and I asked a question about the BBQ and they were so helpful. A great atmosphere. You made our weekend away a one to remember. We can't wait to return. Thank you for making our weekend so special !!

Thank you Darren (Chef), this one-day vegan cookery course was fantastic. Friendly and clear instructions. And so much food to take home to my husband who found it really tasty (and he's a meat-eater!). The facilities are clean and modern and just the right size to be comfortable and welcoming. The administration from the time of booking up to and including the day of the course was excellent. I've booked another course in November and really looking forward to it now that I know it's well run and value for money. I'm sure I will book more courses in the future having had this great experience. I did not stay overnight at this facility so cannot give that a score. Thank you Anne
Easily the best cookery school in the country. Excellent tuition, warm and friendly atmosphere. It gives you the confidence to try new dishes from different countries with superb ingredients. Suitable for all levels. Teaches you the tricks of the trade as well as professional presentation skills. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Absolutely one of the best weeks of my life - I did the advanced week with Chef Darren and it was a dream come true. I felt like I was in a movie. I would say I am a skilled home cook but was nervous I would be in over my head having not taken any real courses before, and it was the perfect amount of challenge while also being totally doable. They have perfected their process - from the recipes to the dishwashing and prep system to the refreshments - it was just flawless. If you're on the fence, this is a MUST DO.
Had a wonderful 5 days learning patisserie with tutor Olivia. She was patient, funny, extremely knowledgeable. The course was very well structured and paced to cover a lot of ground. I gained a huge amount of confidence and successfully made things I would never have attempted without this course. I have been practicing what we learnt ever since I got home. I recommend this to anyone with an interest in patisserie, you’ll be amazed what you can achieve!
Loved every minute of the intermediate cookery course. The facilities were perfect. The chefs Rob and Stuart were top notch in their knowledge, skills, teaching styles, friendly, fun and open. The admin team were also friendly and efficient. I learnt loads. Had a great group to share experience with . I will be back and recommend to my family and friends.
My friend and I completed the 'Mexican' day cookery course yesterday. This was our first time attending the Ashburton Cookery school and we would highly recommend. As intermediate home cooks, we were able to learn new skills and gain confidence in various cooking processes/food preparation, plus we had a fun day. The recipes taken home, will certainly be used again and no doubt be benefited by our families. Stuart was our 'teacher chef' for the day and he was fantastic. His teaching style was relaxed and methodical, through stages of explanation, demonstration then practical application, with support. At no time did we feel pressured or inadequate to preform the various tasks required. The cooking school was professional, well equipped, great food supplies and the whole day was thoroughly enjoyable. We especially appreciated the wonderful 'washing-up team' who made a huge difference to the days cooking..thank-you to everyone concerned.
I thoroughly enjoyed the intermediate course. The instructors were passionate about their subjects which came across in spades. Extremely helpful as we progressed during the week. Every day was fine dining all cooked by myself. I wouldn’t normally post highly recommend and will be back myself to try other courses
I had the absolute pleasure of attending the half-day sushi course at Ashburton Cookery School, and I can confidently say it exceeded every expectation. From the moment I arrived, the experience was first-class — professional, welcoming, and beautifully run. Our tutor Rob's knowledge, passion, and calm, confident teaching style made the session not only incredibly informative but genuinely inspiring. He created a space that was both relaxed and energised. I left feeling empowered, excited, and proud of the dishes I’d made (and devoured!). The school itself is stunning. Every detail — from the top-tier facilities to the thoughtful layout and atmosphere. Whether you’re a complete beginner or already a food lover, I can’t recommend this course highly enough. I walked away with new skills and a deeper appreciation for the art of sushi. Thank you to Rob and the entire Ashburton team — I’ll most definitely be back.

We spent a delightful time, picking flowers of every kind and variety in the garden. Wandered around the greenhouses and the beautiful old Church. Then enjoyed the most delicious cake with tea in the charming cafe. Loved it.
Excellent nursery with a wide range of healthy plants at excellent prices. The staff are very knowledgeable so make sure to pick their brains. The tea room is beautiful, with seating indoors, in the conservatory and amongst the beautiful gardens. They serve serve all your classics such as Ploughman‘s, home-made soup, as well as delicious home-made cakes, and particularly recommend their cheese cream tea.
I used to love visiting the nursery with my mum until about two years ago. Beautiful surroundings, excellent quality plants. Recent visits we felt staff were really quite unfriendly which I remembered clearly during a visit yesterday with my partner. I was excited to show him this little gem, but on arriving we were stopped by a member of staff and asked quite abruptly to take a trolley each across the car parks from overflow to the main entrance, as she remained stood where she was! Seemed We had joined the staffing team!! We were both quite perplexed by this! I was then disappointed to not see prices on the majority of plants with no signage in sight. We had a coffee and cake and when we asked for sweetner, the lady said they don't have any. I asked how they cater for diabetics, to which we received a disinterested shrug. Unbelievable. As much as I love the plants, the attitude of staff is really putting me off returning here in the future which is a real shame
Beautiful selection of plants, beautiful setting. Nothing nicer than being sat watching the local birds stopping at your feet, whilst enjoying tea and yummy cake, lovely.
A truly lovely location. Such a peaceful and idyllic setting. Seems to be miles from nowhere and only accessible through country lanes.......and it is!! Wonderful selection of shrubs and flowers with unusual planters for sale....old kitchen basins and bathtubs.....but they are expensive. However, despite the perfect location in the garden next to the grand house, the tea room was disappointing. Stainless steel tea pots, bland dry scones and a huge slice of dry carrot cake with very sweet icing adorning it. They need to up their game to match the undoubtedly wonderful aura this place has.
Hill House Nursery is one of my favourite places to visit! The glass houses are amazing with birds flying around. With it being a Nursey the plants are a very good price.
We have been using Hillhouse for a number of years now, very shocked to hear it is closing. Such great plants great staff, great cafe. Thank you
Always lovely.😍. Good choice of plants at reasonable prices, with some unusual ones as well. If course can't go there without coffee & fabulous cake..be prepared, you're given a " proper " slice not a taster !!!

What a beautiful and well maintained pool in a delightful town - complete with views of the green hills. I started my day with a 7am lane swim session - what a way to start the day! Staff were so friendly and helpful, changing rooms recently redone so were immaculate, hot shower and a glorious swimming pool. Took ages sitting in the sun post swim before I had to tear myself away. Book online to get the slot you want as it's popular.
Incredible amenity! Well worth a visit. Aside from the lifeguards it's run by volunteers from the community. The vibe is so class, you can dive and generally have fun without being told off. We also got to stay waaay past the end of our session. Bring a pound to pay for the parking (to save them on card fees). Long may this place last! Already looking forward to returning. Highly recommend!
Fantastic family swimming pool that was a perfect temperature. Set in a beautiful village setting with very friendly staff. Will definitely be back very soon. Would recommend parking in Ashburtons main car park, only 5-10 mins walk to the pool.
We had a brilliant private evening session at Ashburton Swimming Pool with our Scout group. Booking was simple and communication beforehand was excellent with Cat, the manager, offering lots of flexibility for us. The pool was nice and warm and the lifeguards provided floats, sinkers, and balls the Scouts to use. The changing facilities were clean and easy to use. Highly recommended for all types of group to book.
Lovely session for the fun swim on a sunny afternoon. Really pleased we found this little gem. Really cheap little cafe, there's no parking at the pool though so park nearby and walk to it.
Village, community based and run outdoor swimming pool. Restrictions in place to fully comply with current regulations, for everyone’s safety. Visit their website for bookings and up to date information on facilities and swim options. Very well maintained and super clean. Posters can be located around Ashburton village also. Lifeguard cover always. Holidaymakers welcomed. Great fun for individuals and/or families. Highly recommend.
Amazing that such a small place has its own outdoor pool. Great little place that deserves a visit. When visiting there was approx. 8 other users, 4 swimming lengths and then kids playing with parents and there was plenty of room for everyone to use the pool as they needed.
A nice outdoor heated pool at the end of a small lane, past the local primary school. Clean and well run. Changing rooms closed when we were there but plenty of space round the side to get changed. No parking near by. Nice grassy area for relaxing if you buy a garden ticket.

Kate knows her stuff with curly hair, such a good cut for so affordable! Quick and painless every time. Thanks for giving me the best curly bob cut I've ever had Kate!
I had a fabulous facial on Saturday. Lovely bright and airy rooms. The therapist was 100 per cent professional and very well trained. The best facial I've had in a long time. Highly recommended. Good value as well.
Love this place, lovely staff and always so pleasant and clean. Would definitely recommend. Very good pricing for all your beauty and hair needs.
Outstanding, Professional service. Naomi has great skills and is articulate in all aspects of her service. Salon has a nice atmosphere, great coffee too . Amanda Jordan
Brilliant cutters at a sensible price. I use Katie who has recently qualified and she has worked wonders on my wild head of hair.
Really lovely staff, so nice to talk to. You are offered a tea or coffee during your appointment. Very processional hairdressers. An enjoyable way to spoil yourself.
Kate and her team are simply wonderful. Relaxing salon and very Covid aware . Highly recommend
I had my hair cut at Salon14 on Gents night & was very happy with the friendly service & the haircut, very affordable.I will definitely be going back next time I need a trim.

Great idea, just make sure you have lunch before visiting as it’s very sparse on places that actually open for lunch here.
It’s ok for a little look around for some bits and pieces. But can be a bit pricey sometimes. Look hard and you’ll find a bargain or two

I love Gnash! Comics. I've been a memeber of the comic club and have been getting monthly bags of comics delivered in the post from Gansh! Comics and never had an issue. Wonderful comic book shop, can order any comic or book, would highly recomend.
I play Magic the Gathering at Gnash Comics every Friday. Jenny is an Excellent host and I have a great time playing Events and Commander with Friends.
Fantastic shop. What a surprise. We were just there for a walk. Could have spent all day in the shop instead. Will be back soon. Martin was such a great help and very knowledgeable but also very passionate about graphic novel books which made it much more interesting. Thanks Gnash and see you soon
Best comic book shop I've been to in a while I highly recommend anyone who's into graphic novels or comics to make a trip down. Even if you don't think your into comics or graphic novels I still recommend you go down. The lovely woman happily recommend many different books to me after I told her what I was into and you could tell this is where her passion leads. Please support her business as it's rare these days to find a place a special as this.
Great little comic shop. A big selection of comics, graphic novels and other books for a small shop. Well worth a visit if your in the area. Lots of independent comics, stuff that I've not seen in other local shops. Lots of humanoids and image graphic novels and a lot of other cool comics. No prices on the products though, seemed strange, but not a real issue.
For its size, one of the best comic shops I've been in... The shop has a focus on Graphic Novels and European titles (among other stuff, and it's good to see 2000AD stuff in there too) and a general smart sensibility you'd have to go to a big city or London to find, and yet it's nestling in the countryside next to Dartmoor. Nice one, Gnashians!
Took my 3 children here today. It's a great resource. Something for all ages, the lady was very knowledgeable and helped us pick out age appropriate comics. i have 3 very happy children with a stack of comics nearly as tall as they are.
Gnash Comics is a wonderful comic shop, they have an awesome variety of comics including a great kids range. We've order books from them too so if you're wanting to support a local business it's a great option.

We went to support 'Restless', a punk gig aimed at raising awareness of CSA. The venue is brilliant and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Needless to say the gig was incredible too. We'll definitely be back to experience some of the other various events at this beautiful venue
This is a lovely little venue with a magical ambience, quirky seating (tables, sofas, pews etc), a well-stocked bar, and most importantly, great acoustics. We really enjoyed watching the band 'Taradiddle'. Great to support local small venues, and I hope they continue to thrive.
A fabulously atmospheric venue with a really high quality innovative music policy. Great events here that are highly recommended.
Really nice atmosphere. Wonderful craft beer selection from local breweries, Ivybridge Brewing Co. and Wilful Beer. friendly bunch of people there and lots of interesting things to look at and read
Wonderful place! Please support this amazing small venue. Welcoming, a great variety of gigs, and an extremely chatty newsletter updating you!
Not often I give five stars but yep, an excellent venue. Have seen poetry and music there. Seating is comfy, and if you get there early enough there's even a couple of sofas. The acoustics are good, staff are friendly and mostly volunteers. The bar has limited, but alcohol is available and you can make your own cuppa. Parking nearby is good, and free after 6pm, and the events are varied and the website is regularly updated. Very definitely worth a visit.
A really friendly and personal feeling arts centre putting on interesting music events. We came from out of town and were made to feel very welcome. They have a nice selection of beverages and a beautiful space.
Another fabulous musical evening with Joanna Eden, Andreas Lafone and Andy Williamson...
