This evergreen forest is a sanctuary for gibbons in among the surrounding tea plantations.

A must visit place in North East India. The sanctuary has a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The sanctuary has a biodiversity and home to the only apes in India, the western Hoolock Gibbon. One must visit this place if you are in North East. Location: Approx 18km from Jorhat town Transportation: Easily accessible from Jorhat by bus, commercial vehicle and personal vehicle Entry Fee: INR 50 Guide Fee: INR 300 Camera: INR 50 Jeep Safari: Not available Staff behavior: Well behaved and Friendly forest guards Trek distance: approx. 3km Best time to visit: Morning hours (7am to 11am) Other attraction except Hoolock Gibbon : Trogon and other small birds.
We set up our visit with Purvi Discovery LTD. They did a GREAT job getting everything in order. No problems at all! Recommend them for you tour. This is a great hidden gem of a reserve. I think many people think of the major National Parks in Assam, but this is an awesome, small accessible wildlife sanctuary. You will definitely see Gibbons, as well as some other primate and bird wildlife. The people that run the sanctuary are very nice and they did a great job. It is a nice, relatively easy walking tour, which was really fun to get out in the middle of nature and see the wildlife all around you. The curious think you will learn is that Gibbons essentially never touch the ground their whole life. They live in the treetops their entire life. Keep a sharp eye out, and try to not make too much noise, as they are very skiddish. If they hear you bumbling along the trail, they will swing away to get away from you. If you go to Assam, DO NOT skip this little sanctuary. It only takes a few hours on your way to Kaziranga!
A Must-Visit for Nature Enthusiasts and Wildlife Lovers Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary is an incredible destination for anyone passionate about nature and wildlife. I recently had the pleasure of visiting, and my experience was nothing short of amazing. During my visit, I was fortunate enough to spot the Western Hoolock Gibbon, several rare bird species, intriguing spiders, and much more. Although I visited in the evening and didn’t have enough time to fully explore everything the sanctuary has to offer, the time I did spend there was thoroughly enjoyable. The serene atmosphere and the opportunity to witness such unique wildlife up close made it a memorable experience. I highly recommend Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary to all nature and wildlife lovers. Whether you're a seasoned explorer or just looking for a peaceful retreat into nature, this sanctuary is a must-visit. I'll definitely plan a longer visit next time to fully immerse myself in this natural wonder. Thank you!
The unique 'virgin forest' of the North east in Assam - a safe heaven of about 7 primates including one nocturnal is Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary formerly known as Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary. The "hooow lonnnng tree" as defined by the Britishers (Hollong tree, Dipterocarpus retusus), dictates the upper canopy of this evergreen forest and a treat to stare at it. Spend almost half of the day making your path way through the thick bushes Shrubs and herbs in the leech infested area chasing the illusive Hoolock Gibbons (the main attraction) and the other primates. You will be mesmerized with their activities, family's courtship, feeding and communication behaviour. The butterfly concentration is also good here. Birds are hard to locate due to the dense foliage. All theses for a very nominal charge (entry fee 50/-, camera fee 50/- and guide fee 300/-) Habitate loss of this primate due to gradual shinking of the canopy area is becoming a bigger threat for the Gibbons as they never leave the trees and move on the land. The government of Assam is taking necessary steps for their protection but more aggressive steps are required for the conservative and protection of these species. Eagerly waiting to visit the place again and again.
Gibbons wildlife sanctuary is very special place for 7 species. Timeing is 6 am to 12 am
The Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary, also known as the Hoollongapar Reserve Forest, is located in the state of Assam, India. It is renowned for its efforts in conserving the Western Hoolock Gibbon, which is an endangered primate species. Here are some key points about the sanctuary: Location: Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary is situated in the Jorhat district of Assam, in the northeastern region of India. Western Hoolock Gibbon: The sanctuary primarily focuses on the conservation of the Western Hoolock Gibbon, which is the only ape species found in India. This species is listed as endangered due to habitat loss and fragmentation. Flora and Fauna: Apart from gibbons, the sanctuary is home to a variety of other wildlife species, including various birds, reptiles, and mammals. It also features diverse plant life. Conservation Efforts: The sanctuary is dedicated to the protection and rehabilitation of gibbons and their natural habitat. Efforts are made to curb illegal activities like poaching and logging within the sanctuary. Biodiversity Hotspot: The northeastern region of India, where the sanctuary is located, is known for its rich biodiversity. Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary contributes to the conservation of this unique ecosystem. Visitor Information: The sanctuary may allow limited eco-tourism activities, including guided tours. Visitors can observe wildlife and appreciate the natural beauty of the area while adhering to conservation guidelines. Please note that the information provided is based on my knowledge up to September 2021, and there may have been developments or changes since that time. If you plan to visit or learn more about the Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary, I recommend checking with local authorities or reliable sources for the most up-to-date information.
Located around 21 km from the main town of Jorhat, this beautiful wildlife sanctuary is famous for its 7 primates/ 5 types of 🐒 including hoolock gibbon. Apart from the gibbon, one can see capped langur, stump-tailed macaque, pigtail macaque, Assamese macaque, rhesus macaque and slow loris, elephant and so many other species of animals here. We were lucky to spot barking deer, red headed trogan, wablers, sunbird, minivet, malayan squirrel, parakeets etc including fresh marks of leopard & wild boar. Don't carry heavy lenses like 600mmf4 as you need to walk a lot inside bushes with no path. Just carry lighter lenses like 200-600 or 500mm f5.6 / 300mm f4 as most of the times monkeys will be hanging on trees 70° - 90° with fast movement between branches. There wil be lots of leeches inside forest but not to worry if you are covered fully including leech socks paired with good trekking shoe. This sanctuary is open all days & no holidays. I will recommend you to stay nearby sanctuary & spend 2-3 days to explore sanctuary to the fullest. Overall I loved exploring this beautiful sanctuary, less people, more of birds n animals including butterflies. Will recommend to others also.
It is one of the best place to see the hollock gibbons in their natural habitat. One can also see capped langur, stamped tailed macaque, pig tailed macaque and lot of other mammals and also a lot of varieties of birds here. The best way to see the parkbis by trekking and one needs leech protection if they want to go inside the park. Best time to visit the park is early morning.

Went there with kid, kids enjoy this place as there are many new things for them, the components or devices are well placed in a small and neat park, few of the devices are not working though. The effort put into the centre can surely be seen. The planetarium provides a good and informative show. The science centre has many simple and experimental scientific concepts. The place is good to incite enthusiasm for science into people. If you are some where near and have some free time, you can give it a visit.
Parking available inside the compound. Parking charges Rs. 30 Security staff on the gate are very polite. Google map location is not precise and may direct to the back side of the science museum. Once the museum was first constructed, may have been in good condition but now it's not properly maintained. Most of the displays switches are not working. Few switches broken. Few of science displays not working. Corridors are dirty. Toilets smell. Water faucets loose. Planetarium closed since few years. Better to increase the entry fee so that it can help in better upkeep of the building.
It was one of the amazing place for science enthusiastic people who really love science
The planetarium isn’t in good condition right now. Most of the machines aren’t working, and the main show isn’t being displayed because of that. But still, you can enjoy spending time in the park outside.
Planetarium out of service for years. Though a good place for school students

Very old Tank In The Jorhat Assam
Mithapukhuri, meaning "sweet pond," dates back to the Ahom dynasty, reflecting the architectural and environmental sensibilities of the period. The pond is associated with the Ahom kings and serves as a reminder of the region's rich heritage. Current Amenities: There are basic amenities around the pond, including seating areas and pathways for walking. There are some vendors for snacks and refreshments near it. Suggestions for Improvement: - Pathways and Seating: Number of seating benches can be increased. Currently it's only 4. - Water Quality Management: During the winter when its not covered with flowers, cleaning can be done.
Good food, clean, environment. Not only the manager but everyone serving really pay good attention. Tasted Manipuri-rice payesh (kheer) for the first time which color-wise looked like a Dal (pulses). Mistaken identity lead to mixing payesh with rice 🤣😂 when the waiter rushed to point out that it's a Dessert (and not Dal). Embarrassed but liked his gesture, 🌹. See the picture the right side bowl with spoon is the dessert, on left 2 types of Dal bowels are seen. 😂🌹
We are not concerned about our History
'A historic place' that actually the only thing about that. Need for cleaning is pretty urgent and there are benches where you cannot sit.

Nice place... Evening time is good...
Need serious cleaning of the pond out there because I see people taking water out of that pond for consumption purposes (have no idea where do they supply the water)

Raj Mao Pukhuri is one of the famous pond from Ahom kingdom. In recent times, it has been beautification with walking pathways, walls etc. which attract many visitors throughout the day, even with glittering lights in the evening too it has another beauty. Thank you . . . .
This historic pond has been converted into a park. There are benches to sit and fitness equipments for fitness enthusiasts. But the park is in a pathetic condition due to lack of maintenance.
Rajmao Pukhuri is located at Old Circuit House Road, just near the Planetarium.. It is a historical pond built during the Ahom Era.. Later on it got some beautification.. On an average the pond will be 1km long in it's radius.. It is a very nice place to spend time over here, people use to take morning nd evening walk in this place with all the fresh air and natural environment.. On my visit, I found many people busy with different things, at 1st I saw some boys doing work-out , than I saw a group of lady laughing and giggling - might be they are waiting for their childrens school to get over, than I got two other boys busy with their yoga activities.. In a sense, the people of Jorhat does like the place nd enjoy it by any mean they can.. I saw four steps , on all the four side of the pond.. The gathering always remains full as per the local people, no matter it's day time of the evening time.. Good place to visit.. RB...

Very beautiful place with lots of temples belonging to specially the marwari community. Well maintained by them. Apart from that there are certain no. Of halls to accomodate people for various occasions like marriages, birthday, etc of the marwari community.. Many religious functions also takes place.
It's a Place where Marwari's marriages arranged. Place is average. Cleanliness is very poor in the room of MALOO BHAWAN as I stay in that bhawan. Car parking is not enough. Lakshmi Narayan Temple is good for devotees. Located in the busy Area of Guwahati.
Only place in the world that have all the temples and Bhavans (Religious Building ) of different branches of Hindu's.
