Here, too, there was a lack of visible organization: the few tables that were still free were overloaded with used dishes and glasses, without any clear clean-up work taking place. We finally found an unoccupied, but very wobbling table whose condition showed clear signs of age due to the weather - not a pleasant place for a planned comfortable stay. Our choice of drinks was three glasses of rosé (not designated as VDP wine) and a Riesling from the VDP local wine category. Unfortunately, all four wines were served almost unchilled - a real loss of quality given the outside temperature was just under 30°C. In view of the summer weather, appropriate cooling of the wines would not only have been desirable, but from our point of view it would have been a given. When we left the premises again after almost an hour, the situation was unchanged: the dirty glasses and plates were still on the tables. Apparently there was a lack of personnel or organization to adequately deal with the situation. We would have expected more care, hospitality and quality awareness from a traditional winery with VDP membership and an aristocratic name - especially at a public event like the Rheingau Gourmet Weeks. Unfortunately, these expectations remained unfulfilled that day. On the other hand, the four other wineries in the nearby area that we visited in the afternoon on our May 1st hike were very well organized, clean and served well-chilled wines. It works! Bereits bei der Anfahrt trübte der erste Eindruck: die Asphaltierung des Vorplatzes direkt hinter der Einfahrt wies deutliche Spuren von Schmutz und mangelnder Pflege auf. Der Blick in den Weingutshof offenbarte ein unaufgeräumtes Gesamtbild, das eher einen "rustikalen Eindruck" hinterließ, statt mit ein wenig Noblesse zu glänzen. Nach Überquerung einer rund 50 Meter langen Wiesenfläche erreichten wir das Eventgelände im Grünen. Auch hier fehlte es an sichtbarer Organisation: Die wenigen noch freien Tische waren überladen mit benutztem Geschirr und Gläsern, ohne dass erkennbar Aufräumarbeiten stattfanden.
