Visited Maisy Battery today and explored every trench and bunker on site. It was an intense and unforgettable experience. The layout is incredibly well-preserved, giving a real sense of what the soldiers went through. I was astonished to learn that the entire site had been buried and forgotten until 2006. It made the visit even more powerful. I couldn’t stop thinking about the young lives lost on both sides. This place is a moving lesson in history and a reminder of why peace matters.
Awesome experience for those who understand and appreciate history. The bunkers were fascinating and the trenchwork takes one back in time. There are still ghosts of the past loitering on the grounds. Great outing for those who have a desire to learn and experience.
Worth a visit, if only to feel the atmosphere here. And to learn about the bravery of the Rangers that took this place. Howitzers in great condition. No toilets though, you have to go in the local village
This was an interesting visit and gave a good view of how the soldiers have lived there. These items were still intact and definitely worth a visit. You don’t see anything from the structure outside.
An interesting historical site, but a little less maintained than one would hope. Some paths are closed off and overgrown. Also noteworthy is that there is no furniture, only the husks of bunkers and gun platforms as well as some artillery guns. Not as fairly priced as other attractions in the regions, but can still be worth a visit for those who want to see structures rather than artifacts.
We had the pleasure of visiting Maisy Battery during our trip to Normandy, and it was an absolute highlight. Our guide, Seth – the owner – was fantastic. His passion and deep knowledge of the site were infectious, and he took the time to share fascinating details that really brought the history to life. Unlike some more commercial sites, Maisy Battery feels incredibly authentic and raw, giving you a genuine sense of what the area would have been like during the war. You can walk through the trenches, bunkers, and gun emplacements – it’s incredibly immersive. It’s clear Seth genuinely cares about preserving this important part of history, and his enthusiasm made the whole experience even more memorable. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area – this is a hidden gem that shouldn’t be missed. Thank You Seth James, Mike, Damien, Ben Guernsey, Channel Islands
Quite interesting to see. But more could be done with photos and stories that took place here. The bunkers you see are rather bare. That could potentially be improved. The toilets were very dirty
Walking through the trenches at Marisy Battery certainly feels that you get there experience of what it might have been like back in 1944. You can only imagine what day-to-day life was like before D-Day invasion happened. I would certainly recommend going and I’d also like to say thank you to Emma who gave us a lot of background information. Pleasure to meet her and some of the stories. 👍🏻👍🏻 thank you so much.
