A really neat experience. It felt intimate given the castles size. It gave you a great sense of what it took to build such a thing back in a time with small villages and coordinated construction challenges. It’s one of those places where you pause and appreciate where you are and what you’re seeing. The gardens are vegetable and as such adds a bit more to the ‘reality’ of what this area was like. Plus the town is really cute too. Amazing to consider such a rural spot is just minutes from downtown Amsterdam.
It was a well-organized, educational, and informative experience. The garden was also beautiful. We spent about two hours here, and that was just a good amount of time to go through everything. There are some cool activities for the kids, too. Plenty of paid street parking.
We got here during a weekday. The weather was typical Dutch with rain and sunshine switching by the minute, so we looked for something we can do inside. So we came here and we liked it a lot. You can walk around the castle on your own pace. We did not use the free audio guide, as there are plenty of signs explaining what you are seeing. The dungeon was the only underwhelming part of the castle but that’s ok. There is a cafe here as well and the apple cake was delicious. The coffee was good as well. The castle garden invites you for a little stroll around. And was a treat in itself with all the different herbs and vegetables to explore. If it is worth 20€ per person is something you need to decide on your own. For us it was worth it.
A very beautiful castle to visit. It was quiet and relaxing to walk around the property. There was very interesting history behind the castle that we enjoyed learning.
I didn’t go inside, but Muiderslot Castle was absolutely beautiful. The fairytale towers, the moat, and the lovely gardens make it a stunning place to see. Even just from the outside, it’s well worth a visit!
Muiderslot was the perfect castle to visit. It was located on flat land, so we saved our energy for the castle stairs. The audio tour was well worth the €2 and gave a full history of the castle and its owners. The castle had it all - a moat, towers, a dungeon, a garden, period furniture, a garden, artifacts and artwork, suits of armor… Plan on spending at least two hours to tour the castle and additional time for Muider, a quaint friendly town. From Amsterdam, a taxi is €60 each way. But there are much cheaper alternatives, including a seasonal ferry.
I took a train to the castle from Amsterdam. It was well worth the trip. It was so fascinating to visit a real castle. The pictures do not do it any justice. You must experience this castle in real life. I spent the majority of the day here there is so much to see inside the castle and outside the castle. It is located in a very small town. It feels like you’re stepping back into time. This feeling includes walking around the town and the castle. Upon entering the castle, you can walk over to the audio kiosk, and grab some free headphones. You can listen to an audio tour which is included in the price of your ticket. There is a wealth of information about the history of the castle. After exploring the castle, you can walk over to the coffee shop and grab some food and a drink. Then take a stroll through the garden. There’s also a walking trail that leads to the plum trees behind the castle. I visited the castle on a weekday. I arrived around 11:30 and it was not very crowded. As the afternoon went on then more people started showing up. So the earlier you get there the better.
Muiderslot castle is just what you would expect. I'm glad they restored and preserved it. It looks more impressive from the outside as there really isn't that much on the inside. If you have young kids they'll enjoy it, as they'll have a chance to try on medieval armour etc etc. It's the sort of place you only go to once. As a bonus, watching the boats going through the lock nearby whilst having a cup of coffee is every bit as enjoyable.

Amazing place to spend easily 2 hours with kids! Travelling by boat is also nice experience (both in and out in case of good weather). The hot air balloon room was really something else. Definitely worth visiting!!!
This is a man-made fortress island in the IJmeer, east of Amsterdam. Built between 1887 and 1895 to block naval access—especially from Russia—it never saw active combat during WWI and was later abandoned before being restored as a cultural heritage site. Today, the island combines history with leisure: families relax by the waterfront while the fortress hosts interactive exhibits and events. Boats run from April to mid-October, but departures are limited, so it’s best to check the schedule in advance.
Fun island to visit, and which has an interesting history. The name pampus is so widely recognized by the Dutch, yet so few know about the history of this tiny island. The boat trip to the island already relaxes you and Pampus itself is also a tranquil hide out. Pretty well preserved bunker that is worth the visit. Wouldn’t necessarily recommend it if you’re just a couple of days in Amsterdam and around.. then go the cute places around the IJsselmeer .
Beautiful island with museum, restaurants and lot of fun activities for kids. Nice place to be with family and kids to enjoy and spend a day. You do have option for overnight stay in case you may br interested. Would highly recommend this to enjoy for anyone and everyone 😊
We had a delightful visit to Pampus. The boat trip over was pleasant, and the amount of time we had on the island was enough to explore at a leisurely pace and still have time for coffee and lunch. The Fort itself is beautifully restored, and its warren of rooms contain interesting and often interactive displays geared for the entire family. A unique experience and highly recommended!
Forteiland Pampus is an incredible place to explore Dutch history and enjoy the scenery. The fortress is well-preserved and offers engaging exhibits that explain its military and maritime significance. Walking around the island and exploring the fortifications feels like stepping back in time. The ferry ride to the island is scenic and adds to the adventure, and the staff are friendly and informative. Perfect for history buffs, families, or anyone looking for a unique day trip from Amsterdam. A truly memorable experience!
Very fun place to go to for a day! It's fun for kids but also without kids. I went with my boyfriend with the boat from IJburg and that was very nice. The museum itself was nice but we were done with that quite fast. The tour we didn't really like. But there was some balloon movie which was very nice. And we had a nice lunch at the restaurant and just walked around. Fun day!
Amazing place close to Amsterdam. Entrance ticket needed, even if you go by your own boat. It's worth it though. Combined tickets including ferry from port of Muiden available as well. Tours and kids specials are great. As well as the restaurant. Try the Pampus brewed beer!

The boat is nice. They did leave 1 minute early (11:59) so you should arrive earlier. For tourists just a warning if you take public transit here, there is only 1 bus per hour and based on the schedule of the boat you will juuuuust miss the bus lol. It also took me 20 minutes to get a Uber here. I would highly suggest having a bike with you when you come here.
Beautiful landscape, I really loved it even IT WAS CLOSED DUE WINTER HOLIDAY. Please check in advance if it's open or not.
Liked the visit. Plan the full day trip. Stay in tents are also possible.
Large boat with plenty of space. Takes about 15 minutes to reach pampus.
Friendly staff and very punctual with departure times. Big enough boat to sit inside and/ or outside and in 15 min you are on the island
Good place to visit with family or friends. Easy boat ride of 15 min from Muiden to the island.
Cool trip in combination with Pampus visit. Make sure to book youre ticket online, on sunny busy days can be busy
Nice boat ride to Pampus.

Just being there in those spaces is worth it. The design exhibition was arranged alternately with many different perspectives.
