Peaceful place. I tried katsu sandwiches and it was really nice.
(Translated by Google) Although it is not that large, the restaurant menu and souvenir shop have a wide selection, and there is a large park on the other side of the road, so it is perfect for refreshing. It has become a standard to stop here when passing through the Kita Kanto Expressway.
(Translated by Google) Although it's not large, it sells vegetables, has souvenirs, and snacks, and has clean restrooms, making it a comfortable parking area. Personally, I think it's great that it's barrier-free and has several barrier-free toilets. It's interesting that, even though it's a parking area, you can enter from the outside☺️ I'd like to visit again.
(Translated by Google) If you enter from the eastbound direction, it's a bit of a walk to the toilet. It would be nice if they built it a little closer. However, when you arrive, the toilet is as sparkling as the ones in Roppongi, and it's impressive. It's quiet in the early morning, and it's now 8 o'clock... the shop is still asleep. I wonder if it's awake on weekends.

(Translated by Google) Unusual for a PA, the same facility can be used from both the up and down lines as well as a roadside station from the general road. Local vegetables are sold and souvenirs can be purchased here, but the sad part is that there are no restaurants or convenience stores. I feel like it would prosper if it did. . . I looked around and ended up finding a soft serve ice cream. Stable deliciousness! ! The grounds are quite spacious, but I was concerned that it felt like it was being used up. Even if it's a chain store, I hope to open a store that everyone knows!

Pretty awesome place to pay a visit with family! Cool indoor playground for kids. You can have a great time here with your kids, and the ticket is quite cheap. Date of enjoyment: 09/4/25 Came here in the afternoon on a Wednesday and it is very quiet. There’s a post apocalyptic vibe about the museum, it feels weirdly like run down but I get the sense that on the weekend this place will be packed with people. It certainly is built to handle massive crowds. We stayed for a bit over an hour, there’s a model train set that you can operate and with a fee you operate a bit more of the model train set. There’s a massive play area in the ground floor and top floor. They also incorporate all the toys from the 70s and group them together based on the theme. Eg Mario and Luigi they show all the toys ever made through the ages, it’s a very clever use of space where kids can play in the area while the adults can reminisce on the nostalgic toys they keep in the glass chambers. There’s even a collection of electronic gaming consoles. Truly a museum/play centre.
It was a 40 minute walk from the Bandai Museum, I needed the exercise, but worth it. It definitely rounded out my trip here from Tokyo. I saw many toys I used to have when I was a kid, and was reminded of my past. I especially enjoyed the model train exhibit, as you will see from the photos posted. One caveat, all the areas include play areas for kids. I went during a weekday, so dodging little kids wasn't problem, but imagine that it could be a "zoo" on weekends? Choose your day according to your preferences;).
We stumbled upon Mibumachi Toy Museum on a rainy day while staying in Sano after visiting Ashikaga Flower Park — and what a fantastic discovery it was! I was looking for a kid-friendly place where my children could still have fun despite the weather, and this museum did not disappoint. The museum is very easy to get to, with plenty of parking spaces available, which made our visit smooth and stress-free. Even though it was raining, there were many families there enjoying the day — a clear sign of how popular and well-loved this place is. The museum has three floors, each offering something special. The first floor features a large play area with slides, a ball pit, and other playground equipment that kept my kids busy and happy for hours. There are lockers available (100 yen deposit) where you can safely store your belongings while you play. This floor also has several rooms with different kinds of toys, so there’s always something new to explore. The second floor was equally impressive. It has various themed rooms with toys like trains, LEGOs, and dolls, along with exhibits showcasing the history of these toys. It was both fun and educational — I think parents will enjoy this floor just as much as the kids! The third floor is dedicated to younger children (under 3 years old), with a safe and clean area just for them to play comfortably. Another great feature is that you can bring your own food and eat in the lounge area. While there isn’t a restaurant inside the museum, there is a food store just outside for snacks and quick bites. All in all, this is a wonderful destination for families. Whether it’s sunny or raining, your kids will definitely enjoy spending time here. We’re so glad we found this gem — it made our rainy day bright and memorable!
It was closed until 3rd January we came on the 2nd. So we went back the 4th and it was nice. Huge grounds for walking dogs or outdoor sports.
Kids had fun. It has a few floors but we couldn't go to the other ones. The first floor is so attractive 😀 There's toilets, vending machines, and food. The one thing I don't like it is that you have to park your car and walk a bit to get to the museum! Which we did in the rain 🌧
As seen in the photos taken by other contributors, a big play spot in the middle of the building is the key high light. if your children have interest to trains, good to visit another building which offer you a experience to move toy electric small trains (N-gages).
This place is awesome. It’s indoor so no need to fight with the heat outside. It’s clean and well maintained. I go here every time I visit Tochigi

Great place. Wonderful locations, a maze, flowers, forests, lakes, playgrounds, animals, a garden, plenty of toilets, resting places, places to play and fields of poppies and many other places!
We went on a Wednesday afternoon and it was deserted. Only one other family. Most of the experiences were closed. The park itself is neat. Lots for kids to climb on, mazes, playgrounds, large train, zip line, goats. It was so hot, I felt really bad for the goats. It probably is a nice place to visit in the fall and on weekends when more things are open. The canoes, festival, kids market, bikes, and most of the experiences were closed. The mysterious ship is dated but our kids had fun for an hour. The kids castle was miserably hot. It was fun for about 10-15 mins then we had to get out because it was unsafe at 40°+. The children’s toy museum looked neat but more for toddlers. The dinosaur exhibit was 800¥ for 10 mins of plastic dinosaurs so we skipped that. Overall, a good place to spend a day if you don’t mind walking. It’s a huge place.
I usually go to the toy museum and let the kids play indoors. This visit, I decided to explore the area with the kids. There is a lot more to do than I expected! The science museum was small but fun for the price.
Beautiful park to stroll and relax around with family, there are many facilities and play area that can keep the kids busy. Overall, the park is well maintained and clean.
a big park to spend your whole day with kids and family. and the best thing is, its free! i would recommend to go here with kids on a day out or on a picnic!
Very beautiful park with an amazing smell of flowers.
The attractions are good but i think it is a bit pricey. children cannot enjoy in just five minutes time for each attraction for about 400 yen.
My daughter enjoys coming here any season of the year.

This place brings you back to childhood. A true wonderland for toy geeks like me. I grew up with toys from the 80's and the majority of them were made by Bandai. This museum captures all the childhood memories I've had playing with my toys. The moving train set display was amazing too. If you have some free time after going through the exhibits, try your hand at their vintage "arcades". They're all manual, but super fun. This place will always be on my list of places to visit when I'm in Japan.
If you love toys then you must visit this place, my son and I loved the places and spent about 1 n half hours here. Amazing collection of vintage toys with an added bonus of the Edison corner which displayed many inventions throughout centuries. Staff were amazing and were very helpful showing us how some of the vintage arcade games that were allowed to be played. 1000yen entrance, slightly cheaper for children. When in there, exchange 100yen for 3 tokens to be used for the few vintage games they have on display.
If you are staying in Tokyo and can make a day trip here I definitely recommend it it is a bit far it's about 2.5 hours train ride from the Tokyo area to Omocha no machi , Mibu. However there is so much to offer here. Bandai made so many toys in Japan that exported to the world. Plastic model kits, Gundam , dragonball, Sailormoon, early Barbie dolls!!!! There's also this world Toy Museum section that is inherited from a UK collection hundred years of history. A lot of the historic toy display collections are still functioning which is amazing. There are also arcade games for 100 years ago that you can experience. No cost you a few hundred yen but the experience holds so much value. Paying a few bucks to experience history!
You have to really intend to come, as it's quite far from Tokyo. It takes about 2 hours by express train.
Looked like a museum for Bandai from the outside. We got there 30 minutes before closing and was not allowed in, I’d recommend being more punctual than us. Very close to the station and awesome photo opportunities outside the building with Goku and other characters.
So many toys from my childhood. Great spot to view treasures from your past and beyond. The Thomas Edison exhibit was very educational. The only downfall is there was no gift shop but we still enjoyed our visit
WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. ¥1000 to basically see toys in display cases - have a look at my photos. Some areas were a tiny tiny tiny bit interesting but with pretty much zero English support I couldn't fully appreciate a lot of the rooms - especially the Edison room. Very boring. Heard some kids complaining they were bored! Add the entry cost to the cost of getting there and it's really not worth it (it's not close to the closest JR station - would require a bus at around ¥1000 return cost). It's closer to the Tobu Trainline but still requires a 10-15min walk. Majorly disappointed. Thought "bandai" would at least have some arcade stuff or more interaction or even a decent gift shop....... But no. Best thing was a hot food vending machine. If I'd had known before coming, I wouldn't have come.
There are many old toys on display, heaven if you are into this. I know I relived my childhood by going. I walked from the Omocha No Machi station (Toy Town Station!) about 10 minutes to the museum. While it is packed with items to see, it is rather in a compact area, so if this is not your thing, in this case it may not be worth the effort if you are not specifically in the area or combing this with the Mibu Toy Museum is recommended to round out the trip. If you are going by train, it will take you about 2 to 2.5 hours to get there depending on the class of travel you choose. It will cost approximately $30 more to save 25 minutes by Bullet Train, I chose to use local without problem, thanks to Google maps!

Going through the yaguramon gate that marks the Ninomaru, you cross the moat and enter the remains of the main hall behind the raised earthen walls on both sides. The maintained moat is about two and a half ken wide. At that time, many of the castle grounds were also filled with water. On the back side, there is the Historical and Ethnographic Museum and a library. In addition to haniwa clay figures excavated from the tumulus, there are also textbooks on teaching the Analects, and a reconstructed model of the main hall's complex room layout. An illustration depicts the structure resembling a temple or Nijo Castle, with a two-story turret. At the back is Seichu Shrine, dedicated to Torii Mototada, and a little way down the back gate street, part of the Sannomaru earthen ramparts remains. (Translated by Google) Koyozan Jōrakuji Temple, a Soto sect school with beautiful four-season cherry blossoms. The family temple of the Mibu and Torii families, the lords of Mibu Castle. I visited Mibu Town on Monday, October 11, 2021 while walking around the city. The information board of the Mibu Town Tourism Association states the following. ①Jorakji Temple was founded in 1462 during the Muromachi period. The first lord of Mibu Castle, ``Taneyo-ko Mibu'' (ca. ?-1500), invited the high priest of the time, ``Isshu Sei Osho'' (1416-1487), and built Jōraku-ji Temple as the Mibu family's family home. ② Rise of Mibu Town and Jorakuji Temple - Edo period, 1712. Torii Tadahide (1665-1716), who became the lord of the castle during his lifetime, designated Jorakuji as his family temple and established a graveyard there. Prince Tadahide developed the Mibu domain by focusing on the production and learning of Mibu. At that time, the richness of the castle town of Mibu at that time was depicted in the large ``Nirvana'' (donated in 1751) donated by the ``Second Sakudayu Kato'' (1721-1807) of the Kato family, who used the Kurokawa River to trade with Edo. is being conveyed. ③ Reconstruction of the main hall of Joraku-ji Temple and the introduction of Dutch studies - the end of the Edo period, 1850. The feudal lord at the end of the Edo period, Torii Tadayoshi (1815-1857), had the foresight to introduce Western techniques such as Dutch studies and gunnery to the Mibu domain. Gensho Saito (1809-1872), a doctor of Dutch studies, played an active role in human anatomy (1840) and smallpox vaccination (1850). Around that time, the main hall of Jōraku-ji Temple, which still stands today, was rebuilt (1850). Koyozan Jorakuji is a temple of the Zen sect, the Soto sect. It is the family temple of the Mibu and Torii families, the lords of Mibu Castle, and the graves of Gensho Saito, the official physician, and Gorobei Matsumoto, the swordsmanship instructor of the Mibu domain who was famous for his matches with Shinsaku Takasugi, are located within the grounds. Adjacent to Mibu Castle, it preserves the atmosphere of the past, and preserves many historical materials such as the documents of the Torii family. Additionally, the following is written on the stone monument: ●Lord of Mibu Castle Mibu family/Torii family family place Mibu's ancient temple Koyozan Jorakuji Temple This temple is a Soto sect temple that was founded in the third year of Kansho (1462 A.D.) in the middle of the Muromachi period (1462 A.D.) by Mibu Chikugokami Agricultural Duke, the first lord of Mibu castle, who donated 26 koku of temple land. The founder of the temple was Zen Master Isshu, the 10th descendant of Zen Master Dogen, and the temple prospered as the temple of the Mibu clan. Even after the Mibu clan died out in 1590, it was protected by vassals of the Mibu clan and successive lords of Mibu Castle, and after receiving the devotion of Torii Tadahide, who became the lord of Mibu Castle in 1712, the Torii It has been protected as a family temple. The current main hall was rebuilt in 1850 after a fire in 1820, and is a majestic structure with a lot of zelkova wood used inside. As befits a temple with a long history, there are historical materials such as portraits and documents of Prince Torii Tadahide, historical sites such as the graveyard of the Mibu family, the Torii family cemetery, and the graveyard of the Mibu clan's Western medicine doctor Saito Genmasa. Various stories have been passed down to this day, including the anecdotes of Mikazuki Sonten, the guardian of the shrine grounds, and Sakudayu Kato, a wealthy Mibu merchant. (There is a separate Otorii gate which is the main entrance, but I have only ever been there by this route.) It was founded in 1091, but the current main shrine was completed in 1686. As the main deity The four pillars are: 1) Amaterasu Omokami, 2) Emperor Tenmu, 3) Imperial Prince Toneri, and 4) Imao Ozuki. Most of the shrines and temples in the plains of Tochigi Prefecture were burnt down during the Sengoku period and were rebuilt after the Edo period, but this shrine was rebuilt quite early in the 1600s, even though it was in the Edo period, and has a very elegant structure. It is also famous for the fact that in the late Edo period, the priest of this shrine, Mr. Toyomaro Kurokawa, formed the ``Rikamatai'' in this area and carried out royal service activities. There is a monument that reads ``Shimono Kinno, the place where the Rikamatai was formed'' at the entrance to the Kurokawa residence of the priest of the same shrine, which is right next to the shrine. There is also a river of spring water flowing just below the shrine, giving it the feel of a sacred area and a world apart from the open park next door, and I thought it was a wonderful contrast. (Translated by Google) Seitada Shrine is located in the northeast corner of Mibu Castle and is dedicated to Torii Mototada, a vassal of Tokugawa Ieyasu. In addition, to the north of the shrine's worship hall, there is a tatami mat stained with blood from when Mototada fought off the Western army at Fushimi Castle before the Battle of Sekigahara, and died in the battle (there is a theory that he committed suicide) at the end of the siege. There is also a ``Tatami Mound'' where a stone (preserved with care at Fushimi Yagura) is buried. Seitada Shrine and Tatamizuka were the places I was most looking forward to visiting today. Seitada Shrine was founded in 1712 (Shotoku 2), and was given the name Seitada Shrine on June 22, 1799 (Kansei 11) by the Jingikan of Emperor Kokaku. The enshrined deity, Torii Mototada, was born on August 26, 1600 (July 18, Keicho 5), prior to the Battle of Sekigahara, Torii Mototada defended Fushimi Castle and fought against Ishida Mitsunari. It is said that while there were over 2,000 defenders, there were 40,000 attackers. Mototada Torii refused Ishida Mitsunari's advice to surrender and continued fighting, but the castle fell after 13 days of fierce fighting. Torii Mototada was killed (there is a theory that he committed suicide). In order to reward Mototada's loyalty, Tokugawa Ieyasu at one point increased the Yamagata clan's holdings to 240,000 koku. Even if a descendant later caused a scandal, Mototada's meritorious service was taken into account and the estate was forgiven as a special exception. In addition, blood-stained tatami mats from Fushimi Castle were placed in the Fushimi turret of Edo Castle and hung above the heads of the feudal lords as they ascended the castle. Behind the shrine is a monument called Tatamizuka, where Mototada is said to have placed a tatami mat stained with his blood when he committed suicide in a struggle to protect Fushimi Castle. Prince Tadahide left behind many achievements, but my favorite story is about Tochigi's specialty, ``kanpyo.'' Its origin dates back to 1712, when Prince Torii Tadahide arrived from Omi Province, and in order to save the lives of the impoverished people of his territory due to the lack of produce, he ordered the seeds of the sagebrush from his previous place and passed on the word ``kanpyo.'' It seems that it has been done. Since then, Mibu Town has continued to be a major production area for Kanpyo. I heard good things from local people. Later, Tokugawa Ieyasu, who won the Battle of Sekigahara, installed the blood-stained tatami on the upper floor of the Fushimi turret in Edo Castle to honor Mototada Torii's loyalty. When Edo Castle was surrendered by Kaishu Katsu and Takamori Saigo during the Meiji Restoration, the tatami mats were buried next to Seitada Shrine in Mibu-cho, Shimotsuga-gun, Tochigi Prefecture, and a memorial service was held there. In addition, blood-stained floorboards were used as ``blood ceilings'' on the ceilings of Yogen-in Temple in Kyoto City, Hosen-in Temple, Shoden-ji Temple, Genko-an Temple, and Kosho-ji Temple in Uji City, and can still be seen today. The air is clear and the air is thick. It was loved by the local people, and I could really feel that they put in the effort and took the time to put their faith into it. There is a guide to visiting the Seven Lucky Gods behind the shrine. At the same time, you can also walk around the ancient tomb. I thought it was a very good idea.

It may have been placed by a worshiper, but there was a small alien-like ornament placed on top of a stone turtle statue in front of the shrine office, and it was really cute lol The atmosphere at the shrine was quiet and very comfortable. Basically, it seems to be an unmanned shrine, but there are stamps, etc., and when I inquired with the person at the shrine, they told me that it is unmanned on weekdays, but on weekends and holidays. It seems that goshuin stamps can also be written on weekdays and handwritten on weekends and holidays. I would like to visit you again on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

It's a shrine where you can feel like you've returned to the countryside, where the old neighborhood relationships remain. I feel like the line to visit the shrine gets longer every year until the morning of New Year's Day, probably because more and more people are becoming aware of its beauty. I don't want to spread the word any further, but I would like everyone to visit. I'm having a great New Year's holiday where I can go back to my childhood and try some free cotton candy with my kids as soup stock, and do some lucky draws. In addition, amulets for students to pray for success are also available here. There is also a free parking lot using rice fields. Unfortunately, the signboard with the history written on it is hidden in the shade of a tree and is difficult to see. The main shrine is located at the front of the Kamezuka tumulus, and behind the main shrine there are stone statues of the Seven Lucky Gods that go around the back circle of the Kamezuka tumulus, but we visited during the rainy season. There were so many mosquitoes that I gave up on going all the way around. This time, we had the monthly goshuin and Kobayashi Shrine's goshuin written on it. ``That rat'' was abandoned in the old amulet storage area. I'm sad that some people didn't receive their orders (of course, it's not the shrine's fault). (Translated by Google) Until around 1984, it was Inaba Junior High School. Currently, the school-style building is rented out as an accommodation facility, and the gymnasium and schoolyard are rented out as sports facilities. The school grounds include a tennis court and a barbecue area. There's also a pool, but it doesn't seem to have been cleaned even in the summer, so it's probably just the same one from junior high school that's not being rented out. The surrounding area is basically forests and villages, and the closest store is a 7-Eleven, which is a long walk down the hill. If you are renting a bicycle for a university or sports club training camp, you will need a car or at least a bicycle as a substitute, unless you will not be going out at all during your stay. Amazing place. I wasn't expecting to go in and see the carvings in the mountain... There is no recording of the carvings allowed. It is pretty cool though. The precinct is pretty nice as well. There is a cost to get in (I can't remember how much as my friends paid for it).
Ōya Temple, or Ōya Kannon, is a beautiful and spiritual site nestled among dramatic cliffs of soft Ōya stone, just a short drive from Utsunomiya. The temple is famous for its ancient rock carvings, including the impressive eleven-faced Kannon statue, said to be Japan’s oldest stone Buddha, delicately carved directly into the cliff face over a thousand years ago. The setting is serene and mystical — surrounded by towering stone walls, lush greenery, and the quiet sound of nature. The temple’s atmosphere feels timeless, offering a sense of calm and reverence that contrasts perfectly with the bustling city nearby. Visitors can also admire the massive Heiwa Kannon statue overlooking the site, symbolizing peace and compassion.
Very cool spot. Go see this and Heiwa Kannon. The temple in the rocks was incredible. Plus the mummy of the monk, many artifacts from the area, lots of beauty spots. Make sure you go behind the wooden main shrine to the left to see the museum, garden, white snakes, koi, and more! No photos allowed inside the temple but it’s gorgeous!
This is a very cool place! The setting is striking, and the stone buddhas are the most impressive I’ve seen in Japan; I believe that all of them are Important Cultural Properties. There’s also a little treasure hall with some ancient human remains, and a scenic garden.
A unique Buddhist Temple that is carved into the side of a rock cliff and preserves the oldest Buddhist stone reliefs in Japan. A giant statue of Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy, is located on the temple grounds. Free parking is available too.
Historical place in Tochigi ken, carvings are amazing. Photography inside the cave is prohibited unluckily. Carvings inside the cave are mind blowing. There are so many nice restaurants around as well.
Serene and calming temple — definitely should drop by if you are in the area! The stone carvings were unique and I felt very rejuvenated after spending some time here. We went on a nice autumn day and the garden was absolutely beautiful! Note that some areas require you to do a small hike up some stairs so make sure you wear the right shoes. ^^ But the view is worth it and the nature will give you energy. We paid 500 yen per person entry fee but free parking.

Unlike regular strawberry farms, a good point is strawberries are planted at your stomach height so you do not need to crunch down to pick strawberries. Their strawberry species are sweeter than regular ones. The farm is located at a walkable distance from the station.
Tip, go for smaller strawberries!!

I went there with high expectations because of the high reviews, but to be honest, I was disappointed as there were hardly any large strawberries and they were just ordinary strawberries that weren't very sweet.
