Great place. Beautiful village and beautiful countryside roads/ motor ways to arrive here. There is a parking area and we didn't wait to enter. Place has a cafeteria and WC too.
a simple place in the open air, interesting for children, there is a special modern room with books and pencils. it shows how a water mill works. good coffee.
Beautiful place with a bunch of information, both in text and through videos, on historical occupations and how they used the water streams. It has exhibits on a granary, tannery, and even a gunpowder shop. Nice views, well maintained, and educational. Absolutely worth a visit. And if you're nice you might get a visit from the museum kitty.
We went there during the 25th of March celebrations period. It was beautiful, the entire town was getting ready for the march with the unique torches as a symbol of the contribution of the town in producing gunpowder during the revolution. The museum showed the actual machinery that is water operated to produce the gunpowder, and so many other things. The place is neat, pretty well explained in English and very unique.
IMPORTANT: visit when the weather is good since it's mostly outdoors. One of the best museums I've visited recently. Incredible exhibits of local history with working mechanisms that show you how gun powder was made, how they washed leather back in the day and how they utilised water power back in the day
Nice museum that shows really well how was the life in the area and how the Water supported human being to progress and survive.
A very interesting museum in the countryside where you can find information on how leather was processed and gunpowder was produced in Greece 2 centuries back. We visited on a week day and there were not many visitors, only a few pupils from a school. The visit shouldn't take more than an hour. Make sure you see how the wooden sticks move with the power of the water to smash gunpowder grains. 5 stars, highly recommended!
Wonderful museum explaining how they work and not only displaying water powered mechanisms found in water mills. Good videos, comprehensive written explanations for all items.

Beautiful, the best tip is to arrange local taxi driver at stimisina or dimitsana. Or to call one from a information board in the monastery parking. There is bad celular re caption in this place.
Beautiful place on the river. We also did the hiking trip to the monastery. I recomend to start from the monastery amd go down to the river
Moderate difficulty, bring drinking water, there are some great views and the monasteries are lovely. If you go on a hot day ship your feet (or your whole body) into the river for a nice cool down. I did, it was fantastic.
We hiked a small portion of the trail, from the monastery to the river. it was exactly 15 minutes down, and 15 minutes to return uphill, back to the monastery. Beautiful river with crystal clear water, a bridge, and a cave.
Fantastic hike from Dimitsana to Stemnitsa. It’s 12.5km from the centre of Dimitsana to the center of Stemnitsa. Be aware the trail gets flooded close to Dimitsana, but only a small part of it. Use caution. There is a 900m altitude gain hiking from Dimitsana to Stemnitsa and a 600m altitude loss. The hike can be done anywhere betweeen 2.5h-4.5/5h depending on endurance, gear, and number of stops.
Get ready to walk! We needed around 6 hours to cross the gorge, which is some 14km overall. We parked at the monastery Prokopou and went from there, toward Dimitsana. The trail was easy to follow, but got demanding at times. Walking batons can help a lot, especially at some narrow, slippery parts where your foot can go the wrong way. The experience overall was amazing! We absolutely loved it!
Was really nice way, waterfall, old buildings we could go in and amazing views. We parked car before start point amd next to it stairs down was River when people were taking bath. Im hot day we had most way shadow and it made it easier to go.
This is the place where you can park your car and take the trail for monastery of Prodromos. There is limited parking space so good to go off peak hours. The trail to the monastery is less than 2 km with around 300m elevation gain. Depending how fit you are, you reach the monastery in 30 to 60 minutes max. You take a good break in the famous monastery and then get back to your starting spot. Good to check monastery visiting hours before you are off. But even if it is closed, the view from the trail is magnificent!

Lousios river and its gorge is one of the most beautiful places one can visit in Arcadia and Greece in general. It is a rapid river which flows into the Alfeios main river. The river and the gorge is full of cultural, historical, environmental and geological highlights. The Stemnitsa - Dimitsana Menalon trail is a great way to visit / enjoy many of them!
I haven’t gone yet but I want so much
Best river for rafting
(Translated by Google) Crystal clear waters and magnificent scenery. The journey is worth it. The only negative is the many turns until you arrive. (Original) Κρυστάλλινα νερά και μαγευτικό τοπίο.Αξίζει η διαδρομή.Το μόνο αρνητικό οι πολλές στροφές μέχρι να φτάσεις.

Amazing monastery ! Unique picturesque and peaceful location... Built into a rock cave with a breathtaking architecture! Not very popular among visitors ...If you love off the beaten track gem experiences, this is a must visit 👌 AAA+++
Small monastery, but definitely worth a visit when you are in the area.
Small monastery based around a cave shrine from the year 1600. A very friendly monk will show you around, but I'm not sure if they speak much English (I speak Greek). There is a small gift shop where you can buy fruit liqueurs made in the monastery!
Must visit this monastery, you can hear in the background the river, Lusios
Special place. Nice little gift shop and coffee after viewing the chapel.
The place is well hidden behind the rock, so we thought it doesn’t exist. Very tranquil place. The monk welcome us and give detailed explanation of the place, the icons, the history…nice experience. But they dont allow pictures
